I have opinions on chap 117 so idk here they are

(OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS FOR CHAP 117 BTW (and brief mentions of 55 minutes))

1. I don't rly see everything happening in this chapter as a negative. Kunikida dying is, obviously, though knowing BSD he may not have and being Dazai's new partner gives him a bit of plot armour but it'd be kinda interesting if skk being together again killed kunikida off in theory. BUT that would completely disregard Dazai and Kunikida's relationship so I don't think Kunikida is dead. It just doesn't make sense narratively in my head.

2. It's good that Bram's ability is dying with him. Idk if that was made clear before this and I just didn't realise and thinking abt it with context from 55 minutes saying that even if someone is 'dead' (I mean before they can be brought back) their ability doesn't work bc their abilities require the brain to have access to blood. Anyway, that means fyodor is at least slightly less OP bc he doesn't take whoever's body he takes over's ability.

3. While I'd LOVE to see Chuuya and that ability creature thing that fukuchi turned into fight because yk singularities smth like that, it won't and can't happen.

This kind of means that sskk have to be the ones to fight him. That whole thing they did during the caninalism arc (and during the little piece when Akutagawa died before) with Atsushi and Akutagawa's abilities combining and tearing through space r whatever is necessary to fight him. I think skk have to get back to fight fyodor as Dazai needs to be the 1 to kill him (As mentioned before fyodor's ability CANNOT clash with Dazai's if Dazai still has blood going to their brain (or is alive same thing really). So skk (or at least Dazai) are still coming in which is great because I love those two, but sskk get to shine again and that's also rly cool.

I know (I think it has been anyway) mentioned that BSD won't have a happy ending, but I can't see BSD ending with Fyodor and this arc. Agatha was mentioned way earlier and it'd be wasted potential not to have another few arcs with her involved, so I think a lot of the stuff from this chapter r a good sign.

About the debate if the manga is going to follow the anime's footsteps (apparently impossible because Fyodor's hand isn't injured), it occurred to me that if it isn't, Dazai may yet not be alive after all, ie the skk angst might be manga-real and not skk fucking around right under Fyodor's nose.

Why?

Because of Sigma.

Because, unless Fyodor survives and or the next antagonist also has a super genius or two like Ranpo and Dazai on their side, it's going to be a tough sale.

To Sigma: Dazai went out of his way to save his life. Sigma even states that in the battle for control over him, Dazai won. Sigma went and stole every secret Fyodor has. This means that if Sigma survives, which is likely (and possibly joins the agency), Dazai's proof of character development will maintain his influence on the narrative. Sigma becomes Dazai's legacy. Sskk become written in stone in his memory (not like they need much more of a push anymore). Cue guilt, responsibility, what would Dazai do, and all that other fun stuff.

Which leads us to two, the next antagonist. Like many, I'm assuming it's going to be the Order of the Clock Tower (H. G. Wells! Adam, maybe? That scientist who made Adam, whatshername!). But with Dazai and all-breaks-removed Ranpo on the ADA's side (unless the deal with the PM strikes here), the OotCT is going to find itself out manoeuvred pretty quickly, no? Like with the Guild, as soon as they get their hands on information (deducing which is what Ranpo excels at, not to mention that Dazai presumably already knows a lot since unlike the Guild, the OotCT seems to have a pretty established profile and it's implied (? someone refresh my memory) that the PM had some dealings with them at the end of SB. Simply put, unless the OotCT has a strategic genius on their side, I have a hard time seeing them as legitimate threats. Meaning, that to make them more dangerous...it would suit just to remove a card from the ADA's hand. Dazai is in prime position to be removed.

Also, the end of SB foreshadowed a coming 'storm' and Chuuya killing Dazai while dehumanized and under mind control would probably trigger something in the long run.

(Don't know how coherent my thoughts are right now, sorry, it's too early.)

The new chapter was crazy. Like wtf??? Ratstoievski (Fyodor) got the One Order??? And he has Bram's ability??? Does that mean that every time after he gets killed by an ability user he has 2 abilities??? Wasn't there like a rule that u can only have one??

Atsushi asks Yosano for cough drops and herbal teas that will help Akutagawa's condition.

Akutagawa keeps a sachet of catnip on his person. Atsushi has no idea why he smells so good and Akutagawa thinks it's hilarious.

Akutagawa can't get the image of Atsushi in his coat out of his mind and will constantly try to get him to wear it.

Atsushi asks Gin for present ideas and she's all too happy to help him. Akutagawa is confused as to how Atsushi seems to know everything about his likes and dislikes and tries to get him the most expensive things just to out do Atsushi.

Akutagawa has used a spray bottle on Atsushi in tiger form just once. Atsushi used his coat as a scratching post. They called it even.

When one of them is having a ptsd episode the other will recount dumb things their respective organization has done until they're both laughing. They have plenty of material.

Skk:

Lupin is under the Port Mafia's protection which makes sense but no one at the agency knows why Old World is under their protection. Dazai refuses to elaborate. Chuuya has no idea.

Chuuya sleep walks. Dazai doesn't sleep or sleeps inconsistently. So many of his nights are spent following Chuuya around and trying to mess with him. Kouyou catches on and chases him out after Dazai's ADA days. Dazai still sneaks in once in a while.

They have a joint account from Dazai's mafia days. Chuuya knew Dazai was alive after he left by keeping an eye on the account. Even now he won't close it just in case Dazai needs money.

Chuuya's local winery stopped making his favorite wine. Someone bought all the remaining bottles before he could. One shows up yearly on his birthday.

Chuuya has bandages and medical supplies everywhere. His car, his apartment, stashed in his coat. Most of the Port Mafia thinks it's just because he's battle ready, but really he's prepared for Dazai's next slip-n-slide attempt.

When Dazai visits Oda and when Chuuya visits the Flags the other keeps an eye on them knowing it's one of the only times they let their guard down.

So I'm not caught up on the manga (I'm trying). But I caught up on the anime and

I COULDNT HANDLE CHUUYA - AS A "VAMPIRE" - SHOOTING DAZAI. OH MY GOD.

But everything is okay because that's not the case. But I also watched it in Dub (bc I was trying to cruise through it because its been a hot minute since I've caught up on anime) and DAZAI SAID FUCK AND IM LIVING FOR IT! Chuuya too. I was giggling like a maniac when I heard Chuuya say "You fucked up, detective agency!" Then continue to fuck up the Hunting Dogs.

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME IS TACHIHARA OKAY?!?!? (I swear I'm reading the manga. This weekend I'm planning on reading it all the way.)

Also, I absolutely loved seeing how the agency was formed. What got me was Yosuno and her ties to the mafia. I literally doubletake-d and screamed "WhaT??" and my family thought I was nuts. Maybe I am. Its fine.

But s5 broke my heart and I'm like, over it. I need some Shin Soukoku fighting together again.

Also, can we talk about Ranpoe??? I absolutely love them, and I think they're now my third favourite ship in the series. Behind SSK and SSKK, of course. I dunno if I could see most of the ships. But, no hate to it if you do ship it because I believe we should ship what we want without judgement (FICTIONAL CHARACTERS MEN! FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!), I absolutely despise Fyozai. I just... no.

Though I do think Fyodor was a very cool character—a little boring—but interesting. Especially with his understanding of Dazai's intellect. Now I think the character with the most depth is Ranpo. Like, man's backstory - the little we know, is quite interesting. It makes me think about a lot.

Also, why is the story character based, not world based, when we know so much more about the world than we do the characters?? Like we know a little about a lot of the characters but know a lot about the world. It's insane. I love character based stories because I feel knowing the characters builds the world.

But the most we know is: Atsushi is an abused orphan; Dazai is an ex mafia member; Kenji is scary; Ranpo is an orphan too who is actually gifted with intellect instead of an ability - though it kind of is an ability; Fukuzawa is an ex assassin; Yosuno hates her ability because she was forced by Mori to keep soldiers alive during the gifted war when they just wanted to die; Kunikida is an ex maths teacher; Chuuya is a human that was experimented on so he's basically part yōkai/ayakashi (Thank you Noragami for introducing me to that delightful word—it's basically a word to describe supernatural beings/creatures and lord knows what Chuuya actually is); Tanizaki is... I don't remember anything specific about him and Naomi...; Tachihara is not a mafia member but rather a military officer sworn to get revenge on Yosuno (she didn't do anything except keep his brother alive - poor babies. She was forced to as well, which, in my opinion, makes it worse); Akutagawa is sick (I swear to god if the series ends without him...); Gin is Akutagawa's sister (HC Gin is enby); Mori was an underground doctor before he slit the previous bosses throat.

Like barely anything about a single character. Just bits and pieces for each. Those are just the main ones I remember.

OK. SO. You know how Dazai is Not having a good time rn.... like bro is seeing the pearly gates. And Chuuya (who is not in control of his own body) is on his way to kill him via Fyodor's orders.

NOW, many people, including myself... ARE SO EXCITED FOR THIS SKK REUNION!!! like... so many monumental things abouta possibly happen. SUCH AS (list off the top of my head): 1. Chuuya bite Dazai vampire style and that nullifies the curse. Aha. i can imagine the edits now. (and to see that animated at some point.. ough) 2. Skk beats up Fyodor double black style ;) 3. Skk bantering that we have missed so so so much 4. Chuuya potentially faking being vampire, lifting his hat up, and looking at Dazai... "You missed me?" OR "You look like shit. Almost makes me forgive you for that stunt you pulled with the water." 5. Dazai being carried princess style by Chuuya ahhahahtg73849ewk 6. Now, what me personally wanna see.... Chuuya BOOKING it down the halls trying to get to Dazai in time. I don't think this will happen because the shock value of seeing Chuuya actually faking being vampire wouldn't be as good. BUT OH BOY AM I IMAGINING IT. 7. oh and Chuuya having his own flashbacks ab their relationship too!!

IM SO EXCITED FOR JULY YALL. EEK.

Now, I don't think Dazai is going to die. But. It a possibility that we cannot ignore.... and I've got some angst that it can cause. Like. Agh. This is the reason I'm making this post; I want to shock others with fear. Fear that I don't want to suffer through alone. NOW, MY ANGSTY LIST FOR HOW THIS SKK INTERACTION MIGHT PLAY OUT:

Fyodor calls back vampire Chuuya (Sigma situation) and he doesn't make it to Dazai in time and Dazai dies Alone. (I don't think this is going to happen at like. All. But it could! Maybe!)

Turns out Chuuya is faking being vampire, but he gets to Dazai and it's too late to do anything (poison kicks in, bro bleeds out, etc.) He dies in his arms! ^^

Chuuya is forced to activate corruption, Dazai can't save him because BROKEN LEGS and both Chuuya and Dazai die (i will stop reading bsd.

Chuuya kills Dazai as a vampire, the curse isn't nullified (FYODOR is the one who sent Chuuya there afterall) and this is when we get Really Angsty: (1) It's obvious that Chuuya and Dazai care for each other on some level, even if you don't ship them. Chuuya would be killing somebody that he cares about, and he would probably blame himself for it. Dazai is somebody that he has known for SEVEN YEARS!! That shit would HURT!! The sheep, flags, all of his subordinates that have died on the field, now Dazai. (2) NOW as for DAZAI!! If I remember correctly, Dazai says something along the lines of "Everything I want I lose" or something like that, right?? Now. Imagine this. Dazai, someone who craves death and constantly tries to commit suicide, dies. OK so what?? No. I think that Dazai very much wants to try and stay alive, it's hinted at multiple times (15 novel, his character song, a much happier life with the ADA in contrast to the mafia, etc.). Let's circle back to what I said earlier, "Everything I want I lose." Dazai goes full circle from wanting to die -> wanting to live -> dying. It hurts and it would prove what Dazai thinks/thought is right!! Everything he wants, he can't have! (Also, cherry on top. He hates pain!! He would be dying a very, very painful death. He even says that he is in a lot of pain in the chapter) OK, ONE AGAIN I DONT THINK CHUUYA OR DAZAI IS DYING!!! im sorry. lets.. focus on the positives!!! Sskk reunion yayyy! (it's also really painful to think about them)

The new bsd ep was absolute shit and I'm so confused as to why nobody is talking about it

(also this episode is DEFINITELY not going to be the canon ending of this arc, bones just wrote yet another shitty ending)

Skks initial plan was alright I guess, but it was super obvious and already predicted by tons of theorists, so the fact that Fyodor was actually fooled by this plan is extremely ooc and inconsistent to his character, I think FYODOR of all people would be able to know if Chuuya was faking being a vampire, when Chuuya broke into the prison Fyodor was extremely smug about it and acted like everything was going to plan.

Also this episode kind of shallows down skks relationship as a whole if it meant all of those speeches from Dazai to Chuuya were just an act and it DOES prove Fyodors word right about them having a shallow bond.

(also the fact that Chuuya was faking takes away from brams ability of having the actual person deep down still alive so it makes me hella confused about sskk)

The fact that Dazai just left sigma to die completely goes back on all of the character development he has had through the series of actually learning to care and not being a selfish asshole all the time, the new EP just completely ignores all of this and just makes Dazai break his promise to get sigma out of the prison alive, even after his last words to sigma in the elevator were the same as Odas last words to Dazai: "I leave the rest to you" (showing that he is mirroring Odasaku, his ideal view of a moral person and one of the most positive influences in his life)

(though I'm not COMPLETELY sure about this because a part of Dazai's character is that he will always eventually return to the way he was but to just throw all of the character development he had over the series out the window is also just bad writing)

The explanation for Dazai's non broken leg was also really poorly done, "Chuuya manipulated gravity in the elevator" that would be really difficult to do, since Dazai's ability would technically nullify it too.. (can't say much about this, just kinda a plot hole)

Also the way they just killed off fyodor to get him out of the way was FOUL. (as much as I DETEST Fyodor I need to say this) We don't know SHIT about that man and he could have been such an interesting potential character if we learned more about him as the series went on but NO, bones js threw all of his plans and everything about the book out?? Also Sigma finding out his secrets??? All of his characterization just became completely useless, leaving him to just be the standard detached and manipulative bad guy with no elaboration on his character.

Also I expected a more intense reaction from Teruko when stabbing Fukuchi, she literally had to kill the person she looked up the the most and idolized and had known for so long but she just gets brushed off and ignored

Also what happened to jouno???? WHY DOES BRAM HAVE A BODY??? Why the fuck is fukuchi dressed like that??? Why is there a war?? What is going on??? WHY IS AKUTAGAWAGA A FUCKING POWER RANGER??? ALSO THIS EPISODE COMPLETELY FORGETS THAT ATSUSHI IS THE MAIN FUCKING CHARACTER???

"Bones has early access to unreleased chapters" I SURE HOPE THE FUCK NOT?? If it does it means Asagiri is a horrible writer (which we all know he isn't)

KOUYOUUU!!!! I had so much fun showing the very start of Kouyou and Yosano's friendship and eventual relationship with that super short scene at the Double Black. just a reminder that skk and sskk aren't the center of the universe, no matter the story. the lives of the characters that don't get screen time or physical evidence are just as complex and affected by the happenings. for better or for worse.

shirayuki-chan is Kyouka! that's not a huge spoiler, and she'll be making an appearance quite soon, so I'll just let you guys in on what I have planned anyway. 1962 was the last year it snowed in L.A. ( though it was only a trace ), and I'll be going into it in more detail later, but it's the year Yosano found Kyouka abandoned by her parents ( and it would make her 18 in 1978 ).

Something I shamelessly do when Atsushi is having conversations with people from the 50s timeline is I make him seem more knowing/in-tune with them ( to the point that I exclude the reader sometimes ) because he's got Dazaism to guide him lol
