These are amazing! Can you augment a real photo image into an AI generated world? Which direction would you point me in beginning to learn Ai creations?
@gunfighteronesix It is a waste subject. I'd suggest you to search for "upscale images with stable diffusion" if you wanna use the tool I use. Improving an image with AI depends on the model you use to generate images... It can change a lot of details but you can also create great stuff from a real photo and then turn it to something different depending on you imagination ! For exemple, here I took the poster for the TV series "The last of us" (great show and games btw)
Tumblr media
Then I generated a new image, keeping the proportions and postures of the characters but I changed the background.
Tumblr media
Next step was reworking the faces...
Tumblr media
... until I got something I like in terms of quality and style.
Tumblr media
I could stop at this point. But to show you, you can also rework faces by swaping them from another picture (for exemple an actor) and integrate the face on your creation like on the picture below :
Tumblr media
It is not easy and takes some times. I did it just to show you, but the image can still be reworked and improved.

How to Choose the Best SSD: A Complete Guide for Buyers
Tumblr media
Solid-State Drives (SSDs) have revolutionized storage technology, offering faster read/write speeds, better reliability, and improved overall system performance compared to traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). Whether you're upgrading your existing system or building a new one, selecting the right SSD can dramatically impact your computer's performance. This guide will help you understand the key factors to consider when choosing the best SSD for your needs.
1. SSD Types: SATA, NVMe, and PCIe
When choosing an SSD, it's important to understand the different types of interfaces and form factors available.
SATA SSD: SATA (Serial ATA) SSDs are the most common type and are compatible with almost all modern computers. They use the same interface as traditional hard drives and offer a significant speed improvement over HDDs, with read/write speeds of around 500 MB/s. However, they are not as fast as newer SSD technologies.
NVMe SSD: NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) SSDs are much faster than SATA SSDs, with speeds up to 3500 MB/s or more. They use the PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) interface, which allows for significantly higher data transfer rates. NVMe SSDs are ideal for users who need extreme performance, such as gamers, video editors, and developers.
PCIe SSD: PCIe SSDs use PCIe lanes for direct connection to the CPU, offering lower latency and higher throughput than SATA. NVMe is a protocol used on PCIe SSDs, so most PCIe SSDs are also NVMe. These drives are perfect for those who need the highest possible speed, but they come at a higher cost.
2. Form Factors: 2.5-inch, M.2, and U.2
SSD form factors determine how the drive connects to your system physically, so it's important to choose one that fits your computer's configuration.
2.5-inch SSD: The 2.5-inch form factor is the most common and uses the SATA interface. It's shaped like a traditional hard drive, making it easy to replace HDDs in most laptops and desktops. These SSDs are an excellent choice for those upgrading from an HDD and looking for a balance between performance and cost.
M.2 SSD: M.2 SSDs are small, rectangular drives that can be installed directly on the motherboard. They come in both SATA and NVMe variants, with NVMe offering faster speeds. M.2 drives are great for ultra-thin laptops and desktops with limited space since they don't require cables.
U.2 SSD: U.2 SSDs are less common and primarily used in high-end workstations or servers. They offer fast PCIe performance but require a specific connector and cable.
3. Capacity: How Much Storage Do You Need?
The capacity of an SSD determines how much data it can store. When choosing an SSD, it’s essential to find the right balance between capacity and price.
250GB to 500GB: For general users who need fast storage for their operating system, applications, and a few games, 250GB to 500GB is a good starting point. It provides enough space for most users' daily tasks without breaking the bank.
1TB: A 1TB SSD is ideal for gamers and professionals who store large files such as games, videos, or photos. It offers plenty of space for media-heavy work without running out of room too quickly.
2TB and Above: For users who require extensive storage, such as video editors or gamers with large game libraries, a 2TB or larger SSD is worth considering. While more expensive, the extra capacity ensures you won't need to upgrade again soon.
4. Performance: Read and Write Speeds
Performance is one of the most important aspects of choosing an SSD. Faster SSDs reduce load times, speed up file transfers, and improve overall system responsiveness.
Sequential Read/Write Speeds: These speeds refer to how fast the SSD can read or write large, continuous files. NVMe SSDs generally have much higher sequential speeds (up to 7,000 MB/s) than SATA SSDs (up to 550 MB/s). If you regularly transfer large files or work with applications that require high disk performance, a high sequential speed is essential.
Random Read/Write Speeds (IOPS): IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second) measure how fast an SSD can access small files scattered across the drive. This metric is particularly important for everyday tasks like booting the operating system or opening applications. Higher IOPS translates to faster response times and snappier performance.
5. Endurance and Reliability: Longevity Matters
The lifespan of an SSD is measured in terms of Terabytes Written (TBW) or Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD), which indicates how much data can be written to the drive over its lifetime.
TBW Rating: The higher the TBW, the more data the SSD can handle before it begins to degrade. For example, a TBW of 150 means the drive can handle 150 terabytes of written data before failure. For most users, a drive with a TBW rating of 150-300 is sufficient.
DWPD (Drive Writes Per Day): DWPD measures how many times you can write to the entire drive each day over its warranty period. For most consumer drives, a DWPD of 0.3 to 1 is typical, meaning you can write up to 1 full drive’s worth of data per day without issue.
6. DRAM Cache: Boosting Performance
Some SSDs come with a DRAM cache, which acts as a buffer for faster data access. DRAM-less SSDs are typically cheaper but may experience slower performance under heavy workloads.
With DRAM Cache: SSDs with DRAM cache offer better performance, especially when handling large amounts of data or multitasking. These are ideal for gamers, content creators, and professionals who need speed.
DRAM-less SSDs: DRAM-less SSDs are more affordable and still provide decent performance for light users. However, they may experience performance dips during sustained heavy workloads, making them less ideal for power users.
7. Price: Balancing Cost and Performance
SSDs vary widely in price depending on their type, capacity, and performance. It's important to balance your budget with your storage needs and desired performance.
Budget SSDs: SATA SSDs tend to be the most affordable, offering good value for everyday users who want a noticeable speed upgrade from an HDD. These drives usually cost around $30 to $80 for capacities ranging from 250GB to 500GB.
Mid-Range SSDs: NVMe SSDs in the 1TB to 2TB range offer significantly faster performance and are priced between $100 to $300. These SSDs are ideal for gamers, creative professionals, and power users who need fast storage.
High-End SSDs: High-end NVMe or PCIe SSDs with larger capacities (2TB or more) and extreme performance can cost upwards of $400. These are best suited for professionals who require top-tier speed and reliability.
8. Additional Features: Security and Firmware
When choosing an SSD, consider additional features such as security options and firmware updates that can enhance its performance and reliability.
Encryption: Some SSDs offer hardware-based encryption to protect your data from unauthorized access. Look for SSDs with AES 256-bit encryption if security is a priority.
Firmware and Software Support: Many SSD manufacturers provide tools for monitoring drive health, managing firmware updates, and optimizing performance. Keeping your SSD's firmware up to date ensures that it runs efficiently and reliably.
9. Warranty: Protecting Your Investment
Most SSDs come with a warranty that ranges from 3 to 5 years. A longer warranty typically indicates that the manufacturer is confident in the product’s reliability.
3-Year Warranty: Standard for budget and mid-range SSDs, providing decent coverage for most users.
5-Year Warranty: Often found on premium SSDs, this longer warranty offers added peace of mind and is ideal for users who need a durable drive for heavy workloads.
Final Thoughts: Finding the Right SSD for You
Choosing the best SSD comes down to your specific needs, whether it’s performance, capacity, or budget. For casual users, a 500GB SATA SSD provides a perfect balance of speed and storage. For gamers and professionals, an NVMe SSD offers blazing-fast performance. By considering factors like form factor, read/write speeds, endurance, and price, you’ll be able to find the SSD that best fits your needs.

ASRock Launches DeskMini & DeskMeet X600 PCs
Tumblr media
The DeskMini & DeskMeet X600 PCs from ASRock, which are compatible with AMD Ryzen 8000G Desktop APUs, have finally been released.
Ready AMD Ryzen 8000G APU ASRock DeskMini and DeskMeet X600 Computers Featuring X600 Motherboards Released
Since Computex last year, we have been waiting to see the ASRock DeskMeet & DeskMini X600 series in action, and now that time is almost here. The company has revealed the two PCs that, depending on your preference, will come with AMD’s Ryzen 8000G APUs or the standard Ryzen 7000 CPUs. In terms of power and cooling capacity, these Mini PCs start with the 65W series.
What can we anticipate from the updated lineup? The newest X600 PCH-less motherboards, which are intended to make use of the onboard CPU I/O capabilities to power the connectivity needs such as USB, PCIe, memory, etc., will be available in the ASRock DeskMeet and DeskMini X600 series. The AMD Ryzen 7000 Embedded CPU lineup and the X600 PCH activator can be used to accomplish this. The boards will be available in mATX and Mini-ITX configurations, featuring the AMD AM5 socket and supporting up to four DDR5 slots for a maximum capacity of 256 GB. The boards will also support M.2 Gen5 SSDs, but PCIe 4.0 is the maximum discrete graphics capability available.
If there is enough room inside the chassis, you can still use these to power up an NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics card. However, you would need to retrofit the PC with your own SFX power supply because the 500W ATX unit that comes with these PCs shouldn’t be sufficient for that use. This is why there are versions of these that are pre-equipped and barebones. Additional features include two SATA ports and support for 2.5 GbE LAN, providing you with enough I/O for standard office and gaming tasks.
Among the many exciting features of the DeskMeet X600 series are four DDR5 memory modules up to 256GB, PCIe 5.0 technology for M.2 SSD, and Dragon 2.5G Ethernet. Additionally, the 500W ATX Power supply’s fan has been tuned for better and more efficient thermal performance. The DeskMeet X600 series is the ideal option for constructing a potent but reasonably priced content creation and AI system because it supports PCIe 4.0 graphics cards.
The first AMD AM5 Mini STX Platform in the world is the DeskMini X600 series. It offers two DDR5 SO-DIMMs and an AMD AM5 65W CPU, providing exceptional processing and graphics performance. For maximum expandability and functionality in a small package, the DeskMini X600 series includes two SATA ports, two M.2 slots with blazing M.2 Gen5 SSD, super-fast 2.5G LAN, and three video outputs.
The DeskMeet and DeskMini X600 series benefit greatly from support for AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs because you can use the integrated RDNA 3 GPU, which is still more than capable of handling productivity and content creation tasks, instead of worrying about discrete graphics cards. The final costs of these PCs have not yet been disclosed by ASRock.
