hello! if memory serves you are the blog that talked about boy band pretty as a marketing tactic (or something to that effect? the search function does not work so if i’m wrong i’m terribly sorry) and i was wondering if you would be willing to find someone from each team (can include prospects if you want) to create the ultimate nhl boy band. this is not a necessary thing to do, solely shits and gigs and if you ever feel like it doing it. have a lovely day!
HIIIIIII that WAS me and you sent this at the perfect time because i am at the laundromat with time to kill and i LOVE to discuss this.... let's chop it up.... a few disclaimers: this is subjective so don't get mad at me and i will be including prospects and ahl players where i know its applicable BUT for most of these teams i will be going off the main roster + looks alone because if i did a full deep dive vibes analysis on every team's roster and prospects it would take me like two months to answer this ask... you understand. we are being SHALLOW here today in the true spirit of the boy band industry. let's go!!!
carolina hurricanes: i know everyone wants me to say sebastian aho but he is 1) too old 2) too unsettling looking. the elf on the shelf is not boy band pretty im sorry 😭 i do love him but he's just not the vibe here... i will say based on looks either scott morrow or jackson blake and his 90s heartthrob hair. i want to say seth jarvis because he's my special pop pop but that does contradict almost everything i have said previously so i will not be biased but know that if he was a pop star i would be his biggest fan i would kiss his poster. and that's my truth
columbus blue jackets: in the interest of journalistic integrity i went to their roster instead of just saying it's obviously kj as the intimidating aloof one in the boy ("boy") band but actually i do think it's cole sillinger.... teen heartthrob. also i didn't know that he was born in columbus because his dad was playing for the team and his brother is also on the team??? imagine having a whole destiny like that and its for COLUMBUS OHIO 😭
new jersey devils: jack hughes. open and shut case argue with the WALL
new york islanders: NOT MAT BARZAL. HE LOOKS 35. STAND UP LADIES!!! lowkey i do not know any of these dudes and this roster is kind of busted as fuck 😭😭😭 (NOT ANTHONY DUCLAIR who is too old to be a boy band boy but who i do love) bargain bin team... anyway isaiah george YOU! are the only cute person the new york islanders
new york rangers: matt rempe. those pictures of him lounging around on the phone??? wow. no words. diva heartthrob behavior. it's sad what they're doing to him what are we doing to our beautiful queens :(
philadelphia flyers: after much careful deliberation.... i think denver barkey is taking it. denver is such a deeply boy band name tbh he was born for this!!! i know everyone thinks it's jamie (who i still forget is a flyer 😭) but can you imagine him on a stage? singing a song? they are reinventing shoegaze for him. negative star quality (AFFECTIONATE!!!!!!! LOVING!!!!!!!!!!!!)
pittsburgh penguins: well NOW the obvious answer is rutger mcgroarty... not even worth going through that senior center roster when he's there tbh sorry pens
washington capitals: AGAIN. SENIOR CENTER ROSTER. i had to go to their prospects page to find someone suitable and my vote is patrick leonard he's a cutie!!! also im so sorry to say this but my jaw dropped when i got to this guy why are you playing hockey you need to make a children's album RIGHT NOW. i know he could do a banger cover of the We're going on a bear hunt song. but i digress...
Tumblr media
boston bruins: matthew poitras is adorable and exudes star quality NEXTTTT. shoutout also brett harrison who looks like a long lost jonas brother
buffalo sabres: JACK QUINNN JQUIZZY HIMSELF partly for looks mostly for vibes... he has extreme "jack dylan grazer vape apology video" energy and also he has that boyish charm... either him or devon levi (hot) not miss owen power for the same reasons as jamie. she could never be a pop star 😔 ryan mcleod used to be the oilers popstar boy but now he's got too much competition he's a little niche for the title
detroit red wings: my gut tells me simon edvinsson but a look at the roster tells me there is some competition in the form of amadeus lombardi... if we were discussing this two years ago mo seider would be the obvious answer but he's too grizzled now 😔
florida panthers: 🙄 here comes another busted fucking roster... i guess denisenko??? panthers are not really representing here....
montreal canadiens: ARBER <3 he's like the bad boy hottie in the boy band. the one that makes your dad shake his head when he sees him on tv
ottawa senators: wow the atlantic division is fucking WACK this was another case of like. okay i guess ill pick one of yous but REALLY? so congratulations jorian donovan YOU are in the boy band
tampa bay lightning: seriously what is going on in this division. jack finley looks like he was the closeted one in a boy band from the early 2000s but he's aged past that now and he has a husband and a wine brand.... so we will bring him back for nostalgia points. welcome to the team. also i have to be honest i thought of myself as pretty well acquainted with the ahl but the SYRACUSE CRUNCH? that's crazy
leafs: JOSEPH WOLL! boyish charm out the ears on that one. a real cutie
chicago: obviously it's bedard. we all know it's bedard. on the surface he has no charisma but he does have a certain kind of shy boy charm and he IS adorable... he's the one in the boy band who makes your mom tut over him like "he seems like a nice boy"
colorado avalanche: wow huge props to matt stienburg for having maybe the single most boy band roster photo i have seen yet... THIS is the guy they get in the boy band because he's already had huge success with his hit single called like, Heart React Girlfriend or whatever. this is jacob sartorius if he played hockey. this is chase dreams. this kid is going places
Tumblr media
dallas stars: it's obviously wyjo, joining the ranks with cbedard as The Nice One <3
minnesota wild: okay i was going to say brock faber because every group needs a kevin jonas (SORRY BROCK) but WHO is kyle masters and why does he look like knockoff brendan brisson. budget briss. diet briss. we have briss at home.
Tumblr media
nashville predators: this just reminded me cody glass is a penguin now 💔 anyway the preds have some STRONG contenders here wow.... jeremy hanzel is taking it but i think luke evangelista could pull it off... now if you asked me to be really subjective it would be ozzy wiesblatt who would also be the subject of much poster kissing and rigged "which member of the nhl boy band should you date" tests so i get him as the result but that's just me....
st louis blues: jeremie biakabutuka your radiant smile has charmed me.... welcome to the band....
utah whatevers: MONTANA ONYEBUCHI I AM SO FUCKING SORRY THE SHARKS DIDNT APPRECIATE YOU. BUT WE WILL..... also matt villalta kinda giving off brand kj... you could build a whole off brand version of that umich team just with guys from other teams i bet
winnipeg jets: dylan coghlan you will always be famous to ME but i fear you are a little too old for our purposes here.... other than him they kinda don't have a lot going for them.... brayden yager it is your time to shine as off brand owen power ♥️
anaheim ducks: some strong competition here... tz is the obvious choice but i think we need to think bigger... olen zellwegger please step forward....
calgary flames: matt coronato i am free on thursday if you would like to hang out on thursday when i am free and also join this boy band
edmonton oilers: yet another old ass roster 😭 they're lucky they got so many sabres because matt savoie is saving their asses rn
los angeles kings: angus booth is smizing in every single photo i saw of him so. come on now
san jose sharks: it's so obviously will smith i don't even know what we're doing here tbh
seattle kraken: tye kartye looks like he would be into white water rafting so he can be the nature guy in the boy band.... strong competition from tucker robertson but he's just a touch too gay porn for this vibe
vancouver canucks: JETT WOO... HELLO.... but also shoutout cole mcward for having 2014 gay youtuber phenotype. a connor franta troye sivan type face if ive ever seen one
vegas golden knights: BRISS ‼️‼️‼️ my little tabloid queen... not only is he in the boy band but he's in the news and the media. he was born to be a star. natural ham. child actor energy. alex holtz is also a strong contender for this but i think he's off on his own doing his little pop star solo act thing
this took way longer than laundromat time but it was worth it i had so much fun!!!!! thank you!!!!!!

Warring States AU Kaname references & notes
The hirauchi kanzashi with the Senju crest belonged to Hashirama's mother, and he gave it to Kaname when she turned sixteen (the coming-of-age milestone among the Senju), and she wears it frequently.
The Chakra blade katana that Kaname favors as her primary weapon was given to her by her great-grandfather, Uzumaki Ashina, when she was five years old. Like most chakra blades during the WS era, it was originally made for a samurai, but over time found its way into Ashina's (extensive) sword collection, and eventually given to Kaname. Although she doesn't need a chakra blade to use the chakra sabre technique, it does make it much easier, and if she were to lose focus on her chakra control or let go of the sword for a moment, it maintains the integrity of the gathered chakra for up to thirty seconds.
The inro (and the accompanying peony-shaped netsuke) in which she stores medicines such as pain relivers, her contraceptive, and ration pills, ointment for soothing burned, damaged or inflamed skin, as well as a needle and silk thread for stitching up wounds in a pinch, was hand carved for her by Hashirama. One of his hobbies is woodcarving, so have made various little gifts, both practical and otherwise, for his children. (The wooden beads of Kaname's bracelet are also made by him) It's made of wood from his mokuton, so is very durable.
The kunai pouch and the tool pouch will always be carried with her in the field, attached to her sash, and aside from kunai (she favors shorter types of kunai, 20cm or shorter) contains tools such as various shuriken, wire, smoke bombs, premade and adapted seals for various purposes, basic sword maintenance kit of cloth and choji oil. The scroll pouches will be worn depending on which scrolls she's currently in possession of and intend to bring with her.
Kaname's armor is similar in model to that used by Senju Butsuma, and the coat underneath is the same as worn by her mother's clan, but with the sleeves cut shorter. She wears a long-sleeved mail shirt underneath the coat, and mail gaiters covered with wraps. Although her chakra blade is her weapon of choice, she has a backup sword that she carries over her back.
Casual outfit Nr 1. Typically worn during training, or free-time. She usually wears sarashi under this, as its generally associated with physical activity.
Casual outfit Nr 2. Worn for doing general chores, or during free-time. Yukata in the typical ecru color of the Senju, with a soft mame-like pattern (dots) woven into the fabric, a narrow and floral green obi with a glass-bead obidome with a sakura flower pattern. She can wear this with or without sarashi, but is pretty much always worn with a hadajuban (under-layer kimono without a visible collar) because of the light color.
During Kaname's youth, variations of fundoshi is still the most widely used underwear among all. She will also wear sarashi chest binding during physical activity such as training, or when she's wearing her armor. Her cuirass doesn't accommodate her breasts and is more of less flat in its shape, so binding her chest makes it more comfortable, as well as just keeping everything in place when she's moving around. She may also wear sarashi if she's getting really neatly dressed up and needs to flatten her figure. She doesn't enjoy wearing sarashi. It's hot and uncomfortable and hassle to put on and take off, but having her breasts be all over the place is even more of a hassle.

New F-16 Electronic Warfare System ‘on Par with Fifth-Gen’ Enters Flight Test
Sept. 4, 2024 | By John A. Tirpak
The F-16’s new electronic warfare suite, the AN/ALQ-257, has begun flight testing after successfully completing ground tests in an anechoic chamber, Northrop Grumman reported.
The Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite, or IVEWS, mounted in a Block 50 F-16, completed an Air Force evaluation in the Joint Preflight Integration of Munitions and Electronic Sensors (J-Prime) facility—an anechoic chamber—last month, Northrop said. That same aircraft has been conducting flight tests for about two weeks, and will soon be joined by a second F-16, a company official said. Northrop is not yet cleared to reveal the location of testing.
Flight testing to validate what was learned in the chamber will take just a few weeks, and an operational assessment will be completed “by the fourth quarter of this year,” said James Conroy, vice president of navigation, targeting, and survivability, in an interview with Air & Space Forces Magazine. Developmental and operational testing should be completed in early 2025, and based on the results, the Air Force will decide future milestones such as when production and deliveries can begin and when the first F-16 unit is expected to be declared operational, he said.
“We’re going fast,” Conroy said, because the Air Force’s F-16s “don’t have this kind of survivability equipment” and need it to be operationally relevant. The system is an all-digital jammer that has been extensively tested to cooperate with and deconflict with the F-16’s new AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR), an active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar. The two systems can be used simultaneously, Conroy said. Both are made by Northrop.
The electronic warfare system is capable of detecting, identifying and countering “the most advanced threats” on the battlefield today, Conroy said, and can perform accurate geo-location of emitters with just a single aircraft. The simulations in the chamber were “intense,” he said.
The IVEWS will be internal to the F-16 and will replace the centerline-mounted AN/ALQ-131 self-defense jamming pod, freeing one external station on the fighter for a fuel tank or weapon. The system will use antennas located elsewhere on the fuselage; the outer mold line of the aircraft hasn’t been altered, Conroy said.
He declined to characterize whether the IVEWS is comparable to the Eagle Passive/Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) being mounted on F-15Es and F-15EXs, saying only that that they are “both advanced electronic warfare systems” and can work together.
The IVEWS is intended to provide the F-16 with electronic warfare capabilities “on a par with fifth-generation aircraft, significantly enhancing survivability for operations in contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum environments,” Northrop said. “Its ultra-wideband suite can detect, identify, and counter advanced radio frequency threats, including millimeter wave systems.”
The IVEWS started out as a Middle-Tier Acquisition program to achieve rapidly fielding; it became an Air Force program of record in 2019.
Conroy said the system will be especially helpful in coping with mobile anti-aircraft radars and missiles whose position is unknown at the start of a mission and which may turn on and fire on F-16s when directly overhead or nearby.
To reach this point, the IVEWS has undergone three years of testing, both on the ground and in the air aboard Northrop’s Bombardier CRJ, acting as a surrogate for the F-16 in the Northern Lightning 2021 exercise, Conroy said. It has also been tested at Hill Air Force Base’s F-16 Block 50 avionics system integration laboratory.
In the chamber, the IVEWS was “subjected to accurate representations of complex radio frequency spectrum threats,” Northrop said in a press release. It demonstrated “the ability to detect, identify, and counter advanced radio frequency threats while operating safely with other F-16 systems.”
Conroy said the system could permit the F-16 to remain credible into the 2040s, and is being evaluated by a number of F-16 user countries, particularly those buying the F-16 Block 70. Turkey has signed a letter of agreement selecting the IVEWS for its Block 70s.

Meet Dominicus, 2024 Olympics' weirdest delegation... by far
- Paris, August 1 2024 -
If there is a word that is crossing the overused line this year, it is "weird".
But this humble reporter can not honestly find a term that fits the Country - sorry: Archipelago of Dominicus better.
Anyone into biotech knows this Pacific island cluster as The Place at the forefront of research, whose scientists regularly blow their peers' minds at conferences.
People more into anthropology might find interesting the story of how a group of British intellectuals who considered themselves "industrial refugees" relocated to the most remote place they could find and seamlessly integrated with the local population. Although, it's worth noting that official history and actual events from the late 1700s often diverge.
Finally, if you're into bizarre governing bodies, you probably know that Dominicus is technically a kingdom. Surprisingly, their King is the same guy who led the aforementioned expedition - meaning he should be over 300 years old, so it's likely an honorary title. Meanwhile, the actual government is run by the local nobility.
Making sense of how said nobility works deserves its own article: just so you know, you can't throw a stone to the Dominicus delegation in Paris without hitting a Prince or a Baron, a Duchess or a Seneschal.
But you definitely don't want to throw any stones in their direction: half of them are part of biotechnology research teams whose brains are too valuable, and the other half are army officers that could easily kill you, even if they look like teenagers.
Speaking of teenagers, everyone remembers Dominicus' debut at the Opening Ceremony: two of their gymnasts dared each other to do acrobatics on the parade boat, ending up doing handstands on deck while the whole world watched.
Just to promptly fall into the Seine, followed by a bunch of teammates who jumped in to save them, to be later recovered by the French Marines on duty.
The cameras alternating between the sputtering athletes and the twin Princesses, also heads of delegation, seated with the other authorities, gifted the internet with meme material for years.
This might be due to Princess Coronabeth of Ida being unanimously considered the most beautiful woman ever, or her sister Ianthe single-handedly increasing Paris' pollution with her unholy cigarettes.
Anyway, expect a whole gallery of Coronabeth's best outfits (spoiler: all her outfits are best) whenever the editor will be able to look away enough to upload them correctly.
But back to the surprise (and doubtfully sanitary) bath the Dominicus athletes took in the Seine.
They seemed drenched but alright until, the day before the fencing tournament in which their female epee team was expected to excel, tragedy struck: both Judith Deuteros and Marta Dyas, the team's most experienced athletes, were hospitalized with a nasty E. Coli infection.
Though Dyas was definitely out of the games, Princess Coronabeth herself was seen escorting Deuteros out of the hospital and back in the Village just a couple of hours later.
One fencer down should not be a major issue: time for the reserve to step up, problem solved, right?
Wrong. The reserve that Aiglamene, the 87-year-old coach of Dominicus, registered for the epee team was the infamous Gideon Nav.
If you haven't followed fencing in this Olympics and don't know her, let me enlighten you: not only does Gideon Nav do sabre, not epee (they're quite different in terms of techniques and preparation), but this boisterous redhead was kicked out of the singles tournament for - yes, I'm not making this up - punching one of her teammates, who was competing in a different weapon at the same Grand Palais.
That should've warranted a permanent ban from the team, right?
Again, wrong. Apparently the ever present Princesses told the offended party, foil bronze winner Naberius Tern, to "suck it up" and decided to let Nav stay.
Luckily for them, since Nav, 19, sporting a physique more akin to those you see on the rugby field, who seemingly came out of nowhere to make top two in the Asia & Oceania qualifiers tournament, saved the day.
Actually let's be honest: a good part of the day was saved by Camilla Hect, the third team member.
Hect, a data analyst by trade, was the stable force behind every victory: both consistent and reactive on the piste and unflappable outside, either in pointing Deuteros to the nearest bathroom and handing her electrolytes, or quietly talking to Nav, who looked on the brink of a panic attack for most of the day.
The Dominicus team somehow scrambled their way to the final, where they must've seemed like an easy opponent for France: contain Hect, attack a barely standing Deuteros, and let Nav's nerves get her a couple more red cards. Easy, right?
Once again, wrong.
To be honest, it started like that until, in the weirdest move yet, another confusing figure showed up to take one of the VIP seats of the Palais besides the ever present Princesses: the equivalent of the Pope came to cheer for the Dominicus team.
More like if the Pope were a teenage girl with too much makeup, clad in head-to-toe black robes (apparently part of her holy outfit), and by "cheering" you meant "silently staring, looking increasingly angrier at one fencer in particular."
Yes. That happened.
After a brief consult with someone who could be easily described as a bespectacled nerd but is apparently a master strategist, Aiglamene decided to switch players for the final round, moving Hect to second-to-last and leaving Nav as the finisher.
In what seemed like a self-inflicted disaster, Deuteros was steamrolled by Louise-Marie, and Hect did her best but was stalled by the tactically adept Vitalis. This left Nav needing to recover eleven points in three minutes against Mallo-Breton, who had won silver in the singles tournament just days before.
Impossible, right?
Nope: wrong.
Two seconds before pulling down her mask, Nav turned towards teenage goth Pope, who mouthed something while looking the perfect blend of angry and disgusted. Then Nav yelled, "We do bones, motherfuckers!" and proceeded to give a fencing masterclass for the next three minutes.
To the untrained eye, Nav seemed to be everywhere at once, parrying and thrusting effortlessly, moving just enough to avoid contact while setting up her next move. She attacked her opponent with such relentless athleticism that she drove her off the piste twice.
To the trained eye, it looked even more incredible: back in the 1950s, a few successful fencers switched between foil and epee, but switching between sabre and epee is unheard of. Doing it in a matter of days? Even more. And doing it successfully? Miracle level.
Luckily we have ample video footage for everybody who is not too attached to their jawbone to peruse.
In the end, Dominicus won 45-43 and the 8000+ people present were able to enjoy their national anthem while discretely googling why a Pacific Archipelago has a cow's head outline on its flag.
As for the heroine of the day, Nav jumped off the podium, into the stands, and handed the gold medal to the goth Pope - whose actual title is Reverend Daughter - calling her "penumbral lady" and getting a "shut up, you yellow-eyed moron" in return.
And then kissed her on the forehead, oblivious to the approximately 8000 phones pointed their way.
Needless to say, all the journalists trampled each other to be the first to score an interview with either Gideon Nav or the goth Pope, whose name I'm told is Harrowhark Nonagesimus, but were politely told by the press attache that it's not happening.
But Princess Ianthe will be holding a press conference at The Ritz soon to talk about her successful Olympics, so there's that to look forwad to, I guess.

Darksword – Elven High King Ringil Sword
The Darksword Elven High King Ringil Sword has a blade forged from 5160 high carbon steel that has been dual-tempered. This differential tempering is not unlike what is done to heat-treat a traditionally-crafted katana; it creates a sword with a softer core and harder edge. This allows the sword to best retain a keen edge whilst being able to flex with the shock of the strike or the parry. The crossguard and pommel of the sword are of steel and the grip is of intricate wood with knotwork design. The companion scabbard for the sword is of wood and is overlaid with black leather. A steel chape protects the tip of the scabbard and it is completed with an integrated leather sword belt.
Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion, the Darksword Armory Ringil is a European-style sabre with a fantasy twist. In the ancient history of Middle Earth, Ringil was carried by the elven High King Fingolfin, the most valiant warrior who ever lived. One of the few named weapons in Tolkien’s works, Ringil was used by Fingolfin in his epic single combat against the Dark Lord Morgoth. This deadly Elven blade gave the Dark Lord wounds from which he never recovered. Our version of Ringil is single-edged, as were many of the Elven weapons of the Second Age depicted in the Peter Jackson Fellowship of the Ring prologue. A hand-and-a-half sabre, this sword is similar to 16th century Swiss designs – with a fantasy twist. With excellent handing, a carved hardwood handle, and Elven script on the blade this sword sits comfortable at the intersection of deadly and beauty.
