My first Wind Breaker piece!! So excited to work with the writer, Robin, for the @sakuraminibang!! She was so sweet and helped me narrow down the idea for this piece. Do YOU like slice of life?? Hurt/Comfort? Sakura backstory angst? Whump? Side characters? I have the fic for you, and I wrote it for the 2025 Sakura-Centric Mini Bang (@sakuraminibang). It's called New Balance and it has all of these things AND!!!

Art by the EXTREMELY talented Dom (@domdomdraka)!!! And this is their linktree! I cannot stress enough how lucky I feel to have been paired up with such an awesome and artistically-inclined individual, Dom was a joy to work with on my first first collaboration piece. It's about Sakura getting a concussion and subsequently struggling through a week that is seemingly out to get him, luckily with a lot of friends connections to help him while he tries to get back on his feet. Sakura Centric Mini Bang

Time for my main art for Sakura Centric Mini Bang! I had the pleasure of working with the amazing @lameykindaworld to create this part of the project.

I designed the full tattoo of Sakura and Suo, the book cover, and their concept. It was fun to work on and I'm glad I had the chance to be a part of it.

He pushes the feeling down, swallowing the lump in his throat, and nods tersely.

Sakura has never been one to care for others, or at least that’s what he thinks of himself.

But as he spends more and more time around Nirei and Suo, he finds it so hard to keep up the uncaring facade that he had built up over the years. Especially when the other two seem to care about him in a way that he has never had anyone care about him before.

However, even if Sakura wanted to admit he cared about them, he wasn’t sure how.

Actions do speak louder than words though, particularly to a guy like Sakura, so maybe it’s best he finds another way to express what he feels without saying anything.

Or

Words are hard, so instead the Furin Trio find a way to say ‘I love you.’ without actually saying it.

I gotta be honest: the Furin Trio completely stole my heart, simple as that, which set ablaze my desire to write about them. with that, "I have a story to tell..." was born.

it's a story of being vulnerable, asking questions, and answering them with another bunch of questions. it's Suo, remembering the past of his own and seeing the same path Sakura takes to walk on; and Suo knows what lies in the end of that path. it's Sakura, who can't answer questions without digging deep into his soul and yet choosing to do so anyway — because he cares. it's Nirei, watching his friends struggling, feeling the dread creeping in, the cold settling — and being ready to shoo away the darkness and to bring the warmth.

and so, they tell their stories.

there was many tinkering with the idea, choosing the path, choosing the way to tell, the concepts, and all that, and also — there was a ton of fun along the way! especially lovely moments of work with dear Kres, who drew breathtaking illustrations (check out other works of Kres here: linktree; the first illustration for Suo's story will be posted on Wednesday, 23rd!), and Suo being insufferable (tell us your backstory, kiddo), and Nirei being Sunshine, and Sakura being vulnerable and open to his vices.

all that was possible only because of @sakuraminibang event 💚 thank you all for a chance to participate!

"I have a story to tell..." has seven chapters, and the first two are out already, the next two of them will be posted at 1:11 PST, and it's Suo's turn to tell his story!

The vet shakes their head. “She seems to be a stray. We couldn’t find a chip, and as you saw, she has no collar. We ran some tests and gave her the necessary vaccines, so if you boys can find her a good home…” Nirei looks back to Suo. Suo glances over at Sakura. Sakura blinks. It takes him a few seconds to compute what, exactly, this all means. But the second he does— His face goes red, and he demands, “YOU BROUGHT ME ALL THE WAY HERE FOR A STRAY CAT?!”

suo and nirei stumble upon a stray cat during patrol, and they convince sakura to help them care for it. despite his best efforts, sakura finds himself completely enamored by the cat, and she turns out to be an especially comforting companion when he finds himself sick with a cold that just won't go away

The day's finally come and I'm so glad to be able to share my part for the Sakura MiniBang! It's my first time participating in such an event but I'm so glad everything turned out well!

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 This is a SugiSaku story, where friendship blossoms in places least expected and a bond is tested in the aftermath of getting hurt.

Sakura’s life had turned around. The friends he’s made have brought warmth into his life, but one of his classmates has been left behind in the cold.

Sugishita has survived many things in his life, from fights to bullying, but Sakura getting injured is the biggest test of his resolve he’s faced yet.

Haruka looks up. And then more up, because for some reason Sugishita is in front of him, and the bastard is still as unfairly tall as always, even if Haruka’s started to like him more recently. Sugishita has his own clear umbrella protecting him, which annoys Haruka to no end.

The longer they walk, the more the wind picks up around them. Haruka subconsciously buries himself into Sugishita’s side. Who knew the guy radiates so much body heat?

A strong gust of wind slams into them, so much so that Haruka has to hunker down and hold onto Sugishita’s jacket lest it gets blown away.

Once it calms down, Haruka turns to check on Sugishita…… and starts howling with laughter. “Holy shit,” Haruka heaves between breaths, clutching his sides. “Your hair.”

Haruka stays where he stands, suddenly aware of how out of place he is. He’s never been to someone else’s house before, not even Nirei’s or Suo’s. He’s also never met any of their parents, either. He doesn’t exactly have a good track record with adults.

But Sugishita looks back at him and raises his arm towards him, silently gesturing to come with him.

Haruka follows.
