growing up is realizing that rachel was exactly who percy needed in that period of his life. because she knew enough about the demigod world that percy could confide in her about the responsibilities as the prophecy kid. but was also separate enough from the demigod world that she never placed him on a pedestal or pitied him for it. she never looked at him like he was a dead man walking. or expected him to become something more than himself to get the job done. say what you want about their relationship. but no one. not sally. not paul. not poseidon. not chiron. not grover. and definitely not annabeth. could have been for percy what rachel was for him.

Do I defend Luke Castellan because I only watched the show and think he’s cute? No.

I defended him because he didn’t have any authority figure who truly cared for him and loved him. He was NINE (yes I get annabeth was seven but she did have Luke and Thalia when she met them) Luke’s trauma is so very overlooked. Kronos saw a kid who didn’t have anyone and took advantage of him.

I obviously don’t excuse the things he did but…I get it. I do feel sorry for him and I do wish I could help him.

I swear he’s one of the only fictional characters that I think could truly be fixed by just a little extra love.

What is your favorite Pokemon?

Percy:

I haven't played that game before, but I know about it from TV. One looks like a dragon! I wish it was blue. Blue fire is hotter, so maybe that could be its super form!

There's another that looks like a dragon! Um. Garydos. He is super big and super strong. First he's just a fish, but then- Surprise!

I drew the big one protecting the small ones.

Mom said she thinks the orange ones are cool because they have "potential" which means they can do anything.

Are those your favorite, Mom?

Well, I also don't know that much about Pokemon, but I've seen one that carries it's baby in its pouch like a kangaroo, so I'll say that one is my favorite.

WOW. That's a big question. There are a lot of animals. Like sharks, and whales, and fish. And deer. Huh. Can I have more than one favorite? (Sally: Of course you can.) Hmm. Maybe, penguins? They're birds, but they can't fly, but the can swim! On land they slide around, but in the water they're super fast!

Even though they're not that big they're predators. But some things hunt them so they have to be really quick and get back on land before getting caught. Sneaky.
