PTA Sans Cares: Prologue
The first part of a multi-chapter story based off PTA Sans. I posted this on Archive Of Our Own (my first work on there), and now I’m finally cross-posting it on here. A story about PTA Sans... starting with no PTA. This prologue takes place days after they reach the surface (the rest of the story shall be months after), and focuses on Sans, intended to show how he’s reacting to being on the surface and to serve as a contrast to how he’ll be later on. Chapter 1 is in the works (I actually have it open in a different tab as I type), as well as whatever else I have in my drive (a lot of hot garbage for the record). Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
This prologue contains references to/implication of suicide and depression. I am not a professional and these depictions may not be entirely accurate. Nevertheless, with these things in mind, reader discretion is advised (these warnings are likely to only be present in the prologue, so you may skip this if you so wish).
“BROTHER! IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP!”
Sans slowly opened his eyes as he felt shaking on his side, and with his one good eye he saw his brother, Papyrus. Papyrus asked “HOW ARE YOU FEELING BROTHER?”
Sans did his best to give his brother the smile he wanted. “i’m good paps.” His eyes were barely half open as he answered.
Papyrus nodded, still concerned. “WELL SANS, EVERYONE ELSE IS GETTING UP, AND I WANT YOU TO AS WELL! I BELIEVE IT WILL DO YOU GOOD TO SEE THIS!” They’d been on the surface a few days already, and Sans still hadn’t seen it even when papyrus carried him (Sans fell asleep before it happened).
Sans sighed. “bro, tbh with ya, i really don’t-”
“PLEAAAASSSSEEEEEE?” Papyrus asked, giving the most sincere and kind grin he could.
Sans kept staring at him, trying to find some way out of this.
“... fine. you got it bro.”
Papyrus was practically leaping with joy (though trying hard to hold himself back). “THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I SHALL LEAVE YOU ALONE SO THAT YOU MAY GET DRESSED-”
“no need to.” Sans pushed the blanket off of him and got off the mattress, wearing the same shorts, T-shirt, and even blue hoodie he’d been wearing the last few days straight, ever since they got to the surface. He was ready to the day all over again.
Papyrus held in a sigh as he watched Sans walk out of the room, afraid to comment on it. The only thing worse on Sans than the smelly clothes were the fake smile. He knew that, despite being on the surface, Sans was only feeling worse than before.
Papyrus followed behind Sans, watching as he and Frisk waved to each other, as he shot Toriel a pun and greeted Asgore who was serving plates of food to everyone.
Asgore looked over to Papyrus, and Papyrus gave back a joyful, confident smile no more honest than Sans’, as he gave Papyrus a big smile in return at seeing Sans out of bed so early.
Papyrus grabbed his oatmeal off the counter (thanking Asgore), and saying to Sans “NOW THEN, ALLOW ME TO SHOW YOU WHERE WE SHALL BE EATING!”
Papyrus lead Sans along, going up the stairs, and eventually (placing down his food momentarily), pulling a latch down from the roof, revealing a step ladder. He gestured for Sans to go first, and so he did.
As Sans got up, he looked around the attic. It was exactly what he expected, boxes, dust, quite a few electronics (computers, a TV, small machinery), and various random weapons, most of it brought up by Undyne and Alphys, who slept up here.
Still, as he got up, Papyrus followed (crouched down), and told him “AND NOW TO THE ROOF!”
Sans shrugged, going to the corner of the room and opening the door, going out onto the roof.
Alphys and Undyne were sitting up there, each of them with a plate of food and snuggled close together with a blanket. The two of them turned to face the upcomers, both beaming when they saw who it was.
Undyne shouted “Sans! Hey Papyrus! Finally got him out of bed huh?!”
Papyrus nodded, glancing at Sans then back to them.
“I FINALLY CONVINCED SANS THAT THE VIEW WOULD BE WORTH IT!”
Sans shrugged, not really thinking it was worth it. All the view was was a dark sky and some hills, a city when you look far enough.
Still, he sat down, choosing to sit near the side opposite of Alphys and Undyne. Papyrus sat right next to him, oddly shaking with excitement.
After a minute of eating, Frisk came up, followed by Toriel and Asgore. Frisk sat right next to Papyrus, and Toriel behind them, with Asgore filling in the last bit of space on the porch by sitting behind Undyne and Alphys.
Sans looked around, confused as to why everyone was choosing to sit on the roof.
Finally, the sun began to rise over the horizon, and Sans began to understand why Papyrus wanted him up here.
The seven of them watched, enjoying it as most of them had been doing ever since they all came to the surface.
Sans fake smile melted away, into a more sincere one, his usually tense shoulders lowering back down for once.
Papyrus was more focused on Sans than the sunrise, happy to see his brother finally put on a true smile for the first time in so long.
The seven of them just sat there, enjoying it while it lasted before they all got to the day ahead of them.

Frisk stared at Sans, confused.
Sans, leaning against a tree, kept looking at the kid for an answer. “... well? when is it?”
Frisk still didn’t know what they were talking about. Sans had said he wanted to go on a walk, and had let Frisk join them but no one else.
Sans sighed, his smile barely existent. “frisk... i-... i know about the resets, okay? i don’t remember them, but i know them. so, when’s the next one?”
Frisk was still only confused. Slowly, they shook their head.
His eye sockets raised. “kid, just stop, alright? before this gets any worse.”
Frisk stared at him. They reached out for his hand, and looked him in the eyes, clearly concerned.
Sans did his best to keep at least a small smile on his face. “kid, it’s- it’s nice up here, this?” he gestured to everything around him, the trees, the plants, the animals, the sun. “this is just great. so, just tell me when you’re putting and end to it, that’ll make things easier for me.”
Frisk continued staring at him. They let go of his hand, and wrapped their arms around him, hugging him as hard as they could.
Sans wasn’t sure whether he should have expected this or not. Still, he hugged back, barely keeping the grin on his face. “kid, i-... please, for the love of god just-”
“No.”
Sans froze, before staring at the kid best he could as they clung onto him, silent.
Frisk said “I’m not resetting, Sans.”
Sans just stared at them, even as Frisk let go he just stared at them, looking them straight in the eyes of their determined expression.
“... welp, glad that’s settled.” He had his lazy grin back on in full swing and had settled his hands inside his pockets. “anyway kid, we should probably be headin’ back, think paps wanted to-”
“I’m not resetting.” Frisk could see right through him. By now it had become blatant how much it hurt him.
Sans nodded. “yeahuh, i heard ya kid. anyway, pret’ sure paps wanted to-”
“I know you’re lying.” He didn’t believe them in the slightest. He figured they were planning on resetting still.
Sans stared at them, still with his false smile. “... so, how long did it take you to figure that one out? five? ten? twenty resets?”
Frisk felt their souls skip a beat, as their tongue seemingly got caught up in their throat. Eventually, they just looked away, staring at the ground in shame.
Sans stared at them, knowing the feeling all too well. “kid, there ain’t a lot i could do to stop ya. for all i know, you’ve already seen what i can do and even that couldn’t stop you.” A small bone floated up beneath Frisk’s head, lifting their chin to look straight at him. “besides, you’d have to push it pretty far for me to go there to try to stop them from happening.”
Frisk stared at him, not sure what they could possibly tell him to convince him.
He stood there, half expecting them to say something about fighting him. Eventually, they said “Getting past Undyne was impossible.”
Sans just stared at them, extremely confused as they continued “Getting past Mettaton was impossible. And fighting Asgore was impossible.”
“kid, you never fought-”
“And leaving Toriel was hard.” They continued despite Sans’ interruption. “And seeing Papyrus be so desperate for friends was painful. But it didn’t stop me.” Frisk took a deep breath, and stared him right in the face. “I was told to stay determined. Every time something happened, I was reminded to stay determined.”
Sans stared at them, getting an idea for what they were saying. “kid, i get it, you need to stay determined sans! the world has so much to offer! you could be in the guard, or the royal scientist!” Sans gave them a deadpan expression for once. “i’ve heard it all before, so ain’t no use tellin’ me again.”
Frisk took a big gulp, and a deep breath in preparation for what they had to say. “You’re the reason I gave up. Everyone got hurt, and I couldn’t stand it.” They gave him a seething expression. “Don’t be selfish Sans.”
Sans stared at them in genuine shock, that being the last thing he expected. Finally, he burst out into laughter, doubling over at the absurdity of it. Finally, he shouted “me?! the selfish one between us?!” He let out the last of his laughter before continuing. “look kid, i’m not the one who thinks it’s all okay to play with people's lives like you or that flower. i’ve been holding on because i’m not selfish, alright?” He was done with this conversation, and ready to go back to the house.
Frisk ground their teeth together, telling him “Well, continue holding on!” They took a deep breath. “Don’t be the one to hurt them Sans.” They began storming off back the way they came from.
Sans looked after them before following behind with about a yard between them, considering exactly what they meant with what they said.

How Post-Pacifrisk Sans Becomes PTA Sans
An overly long and detailed description of how I see the origins of PTA Sans.
Alright, I know PTA Sans is mostly a joke AU, but I’m gonna be real honest with y’all, it’s one of my main headcanons for Post Pacifrisk monsters. Like, I wouldn’t even consider it AU, just a continuation.
I mean, the way I see it, even after they get to the surface, Sans is Not Great.  Like, he’s ecstatic at first, of course -- they all got out of the underground, Frisk didn’t kill anyone, monster/human relations are far better than they’d dared to hope, etc -- but then after a week or so, when all the hustle dies down, he just kinda. Casually thinks to himself, “I wonder if the kid can still reset?” And from then on, he’s super paranoid that a reset will occur at any second.
After a while, with the others’ help, he gets himself back together, and Frisk manages to convince him that she’s not going to reset this time, but that doesn’t change the fact that Sans has been living in a world completely free of consequence for a long time, and after so long of becoming numb to it all, it’s really hard to start giving a shit again. So, naturally, everyone decides that what he needs is to find something to be passionate about again -- and Sans is like, hey, it’s a lot of work that I don’t wanna do, but for the first time in a long time I have a genuine shot at happiness, and also Papyrus is already getting excited at the idea, so I guess I’ll give it a try.
(rest under the cut b/c this got long af)
Naturally, going back to being a scientist is right out -- way too many bad memories -- so Alphys can’t really help. Papyrus has become a sort of figurehead for the monsters since he’s so likable, kind, and genuine, and he also still doesn’t really know about the war Asgore called on humanity a while ago, so there’s no chance of him slipping up and mentioning that little detail. But that much attention and always smiling for the camera is really not Sans’ thing either. Undyne is a soccer coach/mom, and probably an athlete of several other types, but geez, Sans gets tired just watching those kids chase that ball around. Toriel lets him try as a substitute teacher for a week, but oh my god turns out being a teacher is actually a lot of work, and he likes the work, but he’s just not quite ready for that level of it yet. Mettaton’s band is full and Sans can only play various comedic noises on the trombone anyway, so that leaves him with not a lot of choices.
But then Asgore approaches him one day all like, “Y’know, Sans, there’s an opening in the PTA at Frisk’s school, and we really want to fill it with a monster for the sake of making our voice heard. Will you give it a try?”
And Sans, despite not liking the sound of it at all, decides, well, he does like Frisk and wants to stick up for the kid, and he is kinda interested in seeing what, exactly, PTAs do, so why not?
Next Wednesday, he shows up to his first meeting, Toriel having at least convinced him to wash his trademark hoodie and shorts, and immediately some of the parents hate him. None of them are bold enough to make any snide remarks -- not even Linda; we’ll get to her later -- but they’re very blatantly suspicious, condescending, and etc. Sans doesn’t actually give one singular shit, so he just trolls them constantly throughout the meeting and doesn’t pay a single shred of attention to what’s going on otherwise -- he has no idea what half the terms they’re using mean, anyway. And, whaddya know, he has a blast! So he happily agrees to go to more of these meetings, if only because Helen’s face turns a very interesting shade of puce when he does so.
The others are ecstatic, thinking he’s finally found something to care about, and they’re so excited that he can’t bear to correct them, so he just kinda rolls with it. But, unfortunately, Papyrus is naturally very invested in the whole thing now, and he starts asking Sans about what the PTA is doing, how Frisk’s schooling in general is going, what the other parents are like, etc. etc. Which means that, since Sans is too weak to leave his brother disappointed, he has to actually start trying, ugggghhhh.
So, with the help of Frisk (I’m tempted to say Toriel but she’s probably just as clueless as Sans honestly), he starts to do some research on some of the things he vaguely remembers Linda and co. arguing about. Like vaccines... okay, so they’re mandatory medicine that keeps kids from getting fatal diseases; cool. And gluten is just... a thing some people are allergic to, but a lot more people think they’re allergic to than are actually allergic to it? O... kay... He knows what autism is, because Toriel did some research when they found out Frisk had it and shared her notes with him. What’s “quiet hands”? Frisk gets... oddly subdued when he asks, so he drops it.
Eventually, he’s sufficiently educated in all the relevant ridiculous PTA topics, and he starts paying a tiny bit of attention during meetings, just so he can have something to report home to Papyrus about, and --
Wait.
Did Linda just say... she’s against vaccines? ......Because she thinks they “cause autism”?
At first, he isn’t even mad at all; he’s just confused. He’s convinced that he’s missing something here; he must’ve missed some crucial details in his research, because Linda has proven herself to be a passive-aggressive, somewhat racist, very self-righteous person so far, but she can’t really be willing to sacrifice her children’s health and possibly lives just because she thinks they might turn out like Frisk. Frisk is a great kid. Can autism even be “caught”? He doesn’t think so, but...
Well, he dismisses those thoughts, because, as I said, he just assumes he missed something in his research, and Papyrus has no idea what he’s talking about when he recites Linda’s whole rant at home later, but he’s still satisfied.
But then. He starts to get bigger audiences for his recitations. And the other monsters hear the shit Linda’s been spewing. And they are Not Pleased.
Like, “What do you MEAN they want to separate the P.E. class by gender and species?!?!?! That’s stupid!!! I teach all the kids perfectly fine!!! And why should they have to learn different things based on whether they’re a boy or a girl, or a human or a monster?????? AND WHERE DO FRISK AND MONSTER KID GO?!?! THEY AREN’T BOYS OR GIRLS!!”
And, “W-wait, she’s... anti... vaccines? B-but they’re absolutely vital! Literally! Th-they stop fatal illnesses! Not only is she endangering her own ch-child, but she’s endangering the other children, too!”
And, “WHAT?!?!?! LUNCHES THAT DON’T ALLOW SPAGHETTI???!! WHY?!?! ... WHAT IS “GLUTEN” AND WHY ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO EAT IT?!?!”
And, “Excuse me, she said what about the dress code? Why exactly does she want gender to be a determining factor in what clothes you can or cannot wear? Every child should be able to shine just like whatever type of star they want to! Just like they can choose to be whomever they wish on stage! ...What? ...WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE WANTS TO BAN DISABLED KIDS FROM THEATER AND CHOIR -- “
And, “Hmph, if she thinks my child’s stimming is disruptive to the class, then perhaps she should keep tighter reigns on her own child, at least until he stops disrespecting me and the other staff at every possible opportunity! ...Oh, maybe that was a bit harsh...”
Except it isn’t too harsh. At all. And, as these semiweekly discussions get more and more heated, Sans starts doing more research and paying more attention and speaking up more and being a more active participant in general, and suddenly OH NO, HE CARES ABOUT THIS. HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THIS. HE FEELS SOME KIND OF very faint and vague but still present PASSION ABOUT THIS.
(That passion being the passion he has for casually tearing Linda’s arguments down in front of the whole PTA with a huge shit-eating grin on her face while the few other members who are actually on his side try and fail to stifle their laughter in the background. It’s like stand-up comedy, but twenty times better.)
So, basically, Sans is sinking deeper and deeper into the PTA rabbit hole, but he still hasn’t reached the level of really hating Linda or Helen or anyone, and he still hasn’t said a single thing that’s technically an insult. He doesn’t think they’re reprehensible people so much as he thinks they’re really, really stupid and have no idea what’s best for their kids.
And then, one day, both he and Linda get called into the (Vice?) Principal’s office, and when they walk in Frisk and Linda’s kid are both there. Frisk looks close to tears, and Linda’s kid -- we’ll call him Timmy -- doesn’t look much better.
The (Vice?) Principal (whichever one isn’t Toriel) explains that Timmy had been mercilessly bullying Frisk, and when a teacher intervened he refused to stop, so they were both sent to the office, and Sans was Frisk’s only available guardian.
Naturally, Sans is already on edge, because A) Linda is there, and as much as he doesn’t despise her yet, he’s really not up for dealing with her bullshit right now, B) why the hell did Frisk get sent to the office? For being bullied? and C) He doesn’t like it when people bully his kid. Not that he’s nearly as protective of Frisk as he is of, say, Papyrus, but he has a vested interest in their happiness, and he doesn’t take kindly to random kids bullying them to the point of tears.
But Sans keeps his cool and just slinks into the chair next to Frisk, giving them a comforting shoulder squeeze after glancing at them to make sure they didn’t mind being touched right now. Linda, on the other hand, is absolutely outraged -- not because her child was bullying another child, mind you, but because he got in trouble for it.
And Sans’ mind is just. Blown. In a very bad way. Because, okay, it’s one thing to be dumb enough to convince yourself that vaccines are bad for your kid, and it’s another thing entirely to get pissed when your kid gets in trouble for their own actions. I mean, it wasn’t like she was saying Timmy didn’t do it -- she didn’t seem surprised to hear of his bullying habits at all, as a matter of fact -- she was just saying that he shouldn’t have gotten in trouble for it.
So, naturally, Sans responds in his usual carefree, subtly scathing manner, but Linda is having none of it. She turns around and marches up to Firsk and just starts yelling -- not adressing them, but talking about them as if they weren’t in the room and saying some pretty awful things.
Sans’ anger is already starting to flare, but, before he can act on it or supress it, Frisk starts to panic and flap their hands, and Linda loudly snaps “Quiet hands!” This only upsets Frisk more, and their stimming intensifies -- they’re actually crying now, which is saying a lot, because Frisk doesn’t cry very often, and he’s seen them in some situations that definitely warranted tears --
And Linda reached out and grabs Frisk’s hands, forcibly holding them at their sides.
Now, as I said earlier, Sans isn’t as protective of Frisk as he is of Papyrus, but they’re definitely number two on his list, and Linda is very, very low on the list. And now even lower. And she is physically preventing Frisk from comforting themselves (so this is what quiet hands is), and, for the first time in years, he’s happy; his friends -- his family is happy, and he actually CARES about something again, and everything is going right for once in his goddamned life, and like HELL is he gonna let some privelaged suburban soccer mom take that away from them.
No one ever spoke again of the incident in the (Vice?) Principal’s office, but suffice it to say that Linda didn’t lay hands on Sans’ kid ever, ever again.
And that’s the story of how Sans went from not giving a shit about anything to being a PTA Legend for years to come.

Underswap Headcanons
So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Underswap and how I differentiate it from Undertale. I’ve never really had the words to it before, but something I’ve come to understand is that I think while the characters maintain the external personality and appearance of the person they’ve been swapped with, their dark side, their insecurities, the lines they’ll cross, the parts only close friends and family know...they are retained from their Tale selves. This underside, however, expresses itself through the lens of the externals, creating a fusion that at times can resemble both but allows the personality to become its own. I’ll be writing some basic profiles of the major characters, including some of those that I don’t write for often. I will be leaving out Chara and Frisk though. Not because I don’t have headcanons for them, but because in order to understand my swaps for them, you’d have to understand my Tale headcanons for them, which is a post in its own right.
(may do this for Swapfell, but then I’d have to get into the whole Fellswap Swapfell thing and that’s a whoooole can of worms)
Asgore: Alright, in fairness, Asgore and Toriel have always been pretty similar. Maybe its because they spent so much time as a couple. Still, there are some differences. In Underswap, Asgore has UT!Toriel’s caretaking instincts for lost souls as well as her more stringent ethics (there is right and wrong and very little in between). He also inherits the love of puns. From his original self, however, he gained a certain unacknowledged resignation. While he has a stronger sense of right and wrong than his Tale self, he shares a similar sense of doom, and that no matter what he desires, in the end, what will happen is what will happen. He will not fight as hard to keep the human there, nor does he connect as strongly, because he seems burdened by an understanding that he cannot save them. All of his children leave, and rather than trying to cloister them, as Tale!Toriel did, he in the end builds more walls around himself, tries to provide for them without getting his heart broken. He returns in the True Pacifist ending ultimately because he decides he is tired of trying to protect himself. That this is not what his son and Frisk would’ve wanted. He also resents Toriel less than Tale!Toriel resents her ex. While he still finds her actions despicable, there is a subconscious part of him that envies the fact that she still had the strength to care for their people while he shut down.
Sans: (special thanks to @nighttimepixels for putting my thinking on this track)Externally, he’s identical to Tale!Papyrus almost to the point of caricature. Bouncy, enthusiastic, optimistic, the Underground’s ray of sunshine who seems like he’s never had a bad thought in his life.....but the truth is, no one’s that perfect. Blue is pretty naturally upbeat. He prefers to see the best in people and though he’s often let down he finds that when that trust is rewarded its worth it. But in many cases his reputation outpaces his actuality. Still, the largest thing he inherited his Tale!Sans? The desire to keep secrets. To protect himself, to avoid problems by just hiding it all under a more digestible front. Even Papyrus doesn’t totally know how low he can get. How garbage his self-esteem can be. How isolated he can feel from others. Because the lower he gets the higher in gear he kicks it. More bounce! More pizazz! More magnificence! He’s Sans the Skeleton, everyone’s support system! He...he doesn’t get low days. Honest! From a more positive perspective, Blue is a little less dependent on the opinion’s of others than Papyrus. As long as they aren’t upset, then honestly they can have whatever opinion of him that they want. To clarify, he of course wants to be seen as impressive, kind, and a force to be reckoned with, but he copes a bit better with his lack of popularity that Tale!Papyrus, and is less desperate to please. While both have a strong code of ethics, Blue is more likely to burn a bridge over a violation of it (though of course hoping they will come around), while Papyrus has a harder time doing that.
Papyrus: The first time he meets Tale Sans, Sans can’t help but feel a strange rush of envy. Stretch is lazy, sure, lives like garbage and can’t commit to much. But he’s so damn charming. He seems to have retained Original Papyrus’ showmanship instincts just enough to talk his way into anything, leave just as much of an impression as he wants, or go ignored if that’s what he desired. And while in general he’s as directionless as Tale, when he wants something he rarely has trouble getting it. Motivation isn’t his default but it is a reservoir he has immense capacity to draw on. Still, there’s a lot (a LOT) Stretch doesn’t show. That dependency on people’s opinion that Blue missed? Guess who inherited it. Because yeah, he walks around like he doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks of him, like he’s got it all figured out and could talk circles around you if he wanted. But Stretch is CONSTANTLY assessing himself and other people’s perception of him. Even if he doesn’t want to be adored, he wants to be remembered, thought of as funny, clever, or hell, even annoying, just as long as its the impression he wants to give off. He walks a fine line of wanting no one to see the real him while wanting someone to just see him for who he is and VALIDATE it. His self-confidence struggles are tangentially related to Tale Sans, but while Tale tends to just shrug and write himself off as a lost cause, Stretch can’t stop himself from trying to micromanage his own personality. He has a fixation on controlling himself. In light of the RESETs, its one of the last things he can control. Even the smoking habit was intentional. He wanted a coping mechanism, as well as a good reason to be alone when he wanted to be. It sounds cliche, but if Stretch really wanted to quit he could’ve done it no problem years ago. He struggles with anxiety as opposed to Tale’s depression, and is quite a bit more extroverted.
Muffet: Muffet’s similarities to her Tale self largely relate to motivations. She works her bakery/bar to provide money for her spider family members in Hotland. As the strongest of her kind only she could bear Snowdin’s cold, and it allowed her a business opportunity (given that Swap Grillby has a stranglehold on the Hotland food market only barely broken by Napstaton’s resort) to provide for her family. Outwardly, she is near identical to Tale Grillby. Quiet, responsible, with an unexpected humor only a select few regulars are privy to. Still, she kept her Tale self’s cutthroat side. While she’s a decent person and generally is willing to help others, if the choice came between an innocent and any member of her family, she would give up the innocent practically instantaneously. She’s also a tightfist and can be extremely unreasonable about money. Stretch doesn’t talk about it much but there was an incident where she came to him about his tab and he treated the matter a little too light-heartedly.....she apologized afterwards but he’s never let the bill stand that long since. To her, nothing is more important than her ability to provide and protect for her people.
Alphys: She’s got all of Tale Undyne’s rough and tumble, “FIGHT ME” intensity, as well as her softer, gentler desire to help all monsterkind. But this dinosaur doesn’t have nearly the same confidence. Not that she’d ever admit to it. But Alph struggles with her belief in herself. She believes in Blue, in Toriel, in Undyne, in all of her friends, really. But rarely in herself. Toriel never needed to correct her during training, Alphys berated herself, often way past what was necessary. She can do a hundred perfect moves, trip once, and that’s the only thing she’ll remember. Still, she covers that lack of confidence with quite a bit of aggression. Though Tale!Undyne had her angry moments, Alphys can come off as downright cranky. She also retained a tactical brilliance from Tale!Alphys, and a secret nerd side that she represses. No one is allowed in her room because that’s where she keeps all the....*whispers* books. Part of what drew her to Undyne was that she’s allowed to openly love what Alphys feels she must keep to herself. After all, warriors don’t READ! Right?!?!?!
Undyne: Awkward, shy, nerdy, stammering......and full of PASSION! Seriously, she keeps it on the DL, but she is almost as intense as her Tale self. Pencils she chews on end up bitten in half before she knows what she’s doing. She’s thrown laptops across the room in her excitement over new breakthroughs. And that’s not counting all the broken mugs. She definitely does not know her own strength. She also has Tale!Undyne’s tendency to make swift judgments (like with Frisk and Papyrus to an extent) and stick to them until she has no choice but to reassess. A prime example? Mettablook. Once she determined that their cousin was a better candidate for the robotics project....well, she wasn’t exactly rude, but she could be a bit callous. Frankly, she didn’t have much use for them, and could be unreasonable about their requests for her to make them a body, saying curtly that she didn’t have the resources to spare for such a secondary project. On the more positive side, while she’s definitely awkward, she doesn’t struggle as much with confidence as Tale!Alphys. Her isolation is more incidental to her focus on her job (and, well, the internet). Socializing isn’t nearly as agonizing for her. She keeps in touch with Stretch despite them not working together. She simply doesn’t let people get too close so they don’t find out about the little surprise in her basement....
And speaking of Mettablook....
Mettablook (Hapstablook?): (sidenote, I’ll be using he/him pronouns since that’s what Mettaton uses in-game) When it comes to Napsta and Metta, I see their Swap being more role than personality focused. Like, Metta definitely got more of Napstablook’s shyness, but in general he is very close to how I imagine pre-robo Mettaton. He has a flair for performance, a love for anything that sparkles, and a fierce loyalty to his circle of friends. With one major difference. He wasn’t the one who met Undyne first. That was his cousin. As a result, Napsta was the one chosen for the robot program. While Metta....was stuck with the farm. As opposed to Napstablook’s crushed self-esteem, though, his route to coping with being....well, abandoned by one of the few people he thought would stick around for ever, is active denial that it hurt even a little. No, really, he’s very happy for his cousin. No big that they never call or write or visit....really, he’s sure they’re busy or something. He honestly can’t be bothered to think about it with all his responsibilities. Really. Its total bullshit and everyone knows it, but he’ll hold fast to that exterior. And while his confidence isn’t quite as shattered, he’s not nearly the performer he used to be when Chara finds him. He’s trying to rationalize why his cousin wouldn’t take him with them. Was....was this their way of letting them down easy? Are they trying to tell him that he was never as good as he thought? He still practices, but he’s far more private about it. The way you would know he’s ready for MERCY is if he shows you one of his poses, actually.
Napstaton (they/them pronouns) There’s two sides to this DJ. Their on stage persona is actually very laid back, something of a very optimistic surfer dude. They’re go-with-the flow, has tousled robo hair (okay, its been engineered to look tousled) and in general just happy to meet you. While Tale Mettaton’s emphasis is on performance, Napstaton’s first and foremost concern is the music they play and write. They don’t do television shows, but concerts and music specials. Underneath the cool exterior, though, this bot is a HOT MESS. All Napstas, regardless of universe, struggle with low self-esteem and the fear that everyone secretly hates them. When they got their chance at celebrity they had hoped this would be less of an issue. But its not. If anything, its worse, because they’re worried every minute that they’ll mess it up, that the penny will drop and everyone will see them for the garbage heap that they are. They can’t let that happen. So they focus on everything to do with their career. They hole up for days agonizing over their music. They spend hours choosing outfits carefully so they don’t look like they took hours to choose. They never see their cousin anymore, and visits with Undyne are rare and usually as short as they can make them. It makes them something of a selfish person, focused entirely on their image and how they interact with the world. Still, they have a very sweet nature that comes out especially after Chara gives them their wake up call, and they really do love their friends.
Toriel: Gracious, wise, powerful, and in charge. She has all the qualities the Underground seems to require. Along with Tale!Toriel’s impressive dedication to those she cares about and her maternal instincts she combines UT!Asgore’s utter devotion to their people. The killing of children is not something she takes any pleasure in. But she tries to bury her it in the hope of her people. With each SOUL they get closer and closer to freedom. Surely that has to be enough. She also commands a lot more respect than UT!Asgore does, and you are not likely to hear her referred to as “Queen Fluffybuns” anytime soon. Still, she didnt just carry over Toriel’s good qualities. While UT!Asgore mostly wrestled with his own guilt, Swap Toriel is overwhelmingly lonely. Which seems odd. After all, she’s surrounded by people. But there is a certain distance that she has to maintain as a ruler, that prevents many from getting close. With Asgore’s desparture, she’s lost the last person that she felt she could emotionally connect with. Its turned her....a little desperate. And a lot overprotective. Alphys had to fight for years  to get her permission to join the Guard, simply because she didn’t want her hurt. Undyne has a tough time of it keeping the Amalgams hidden because Toriel is always visiting and sticking her snout in every direction. Even when they hit the Surface she has a tendency to hover over Chara’s activites and make up reasons to show up at Asgore’s house. Someone give this woman a hug and let her know everyone’s gonna be okay.

....I was walking thought the ruins. Napstablook had let me in since Tori wouldn't. On the way, I saw something strange. It was a grey hole in the wall that seemed to had been broken into the wall already there, like someone had put a stick of TNT to the wall. But it seems that....that grey hole had no end when I looked into it. I thought maybe it was... The good doctor's door, But this was no door. the ends didn't stay still and seems to crawl along the edges. Just when I thought that was it. Something or someone came thought. It... It looked like me. But so much worse.I couldn't make clear view of it and could only see blue, red, and white. It was missing it's right eye and seemed to only have fingers on its left hand. It had way more stitches then me, and even had some along his lips. Before I could make out anything else it turned to me and I bolted to here...some weird stuff huh Chara? *mas says looking at the golden flower bed.* Well if this has anything to do with the weed "flowey".....I'll find out.*mas puts a bar of chocolate on the flower bed and gets up* I'll see ya Chara...If I live long enough to see you again next year...happy birthday. Or hehe.."fall day"...*mas is telling jokes to deny that his life could end in a few moments* well.....screw it. I'm already dead so...nothing to lose.*mas walks away from the flower bed and out back into the ruins*now I ..saw it here right?*mas seems confused that he cannot find a trace of any hint that something...worldly was here* "well now what do we have now?"* Mas hears a small voice behind him* Mas:hello weed. Flowey:hello undead freak Mas:considering I saw my bro kill ya. You sure you're not the undead freak? Flowey:you could never understand just what. I. Am*flower goes out his signature grin* Mas:OK angsty teen, calm down and be honest with me for something. Flowey:hehe like hell I'd do that. Mas:really now?you want me to act as my brother before you even get to your first kill?*mas's red eyes give off a slight glow* Flowey:....fine. since this seems to be a new thing to do...I'll answer your question if it's not too personal. Mas:did you see or have anything to do with a grey hole in the wall? Flowey:...really? You ask me THAT?? No you brain dead dummy I had nothing to do with the f****** hole in the wa-*flower is cut off by mas using Chas, mas's only blaster to kill flowey* Mas: see ya again weed...and*mas looks at the wall were the hole was*I hope you come back as well...faker.*mas smiles as the world is reset once again* ?????1: He knows....what now? ?????2:now...he will fear us,and with that fear he will prepare himself...then we take him then, and make you...my puppet stronger ?????1:And if he becomes too strong? ????2:then...I will had wasted my time creating you. ??????1:yes...father. ????2: but in that case..we'll just threaten who he cares most... ????1:the human? Or the reptilian girl? ???2:that will be his decision...and it will break him down. This anomaly has allowed me to try something new...till I get to execute my plan.....we will make you prepared as well. ????1:yes...sir... Hello guys! I don't own error tale if that's what it's even what it's called. This is probably one of the best things I've done and I'm really proud of it.like the way it pops. so yeah mas has an error version of him, but In a certain way. He was MADE by error sans as a tool. I like the idea of this is how there's versions of OC's in error form. I'll be doing more with this guy later, promise😊
