Sarah and Orla McCool are weird girls and they are unapologetic about it because they’re just being themselves and no one in their lives makes them feel less than for being different and I wish I had had that growing up.

one of my favorite decisions in Derry Girls is never once referring to Orla having a father and that her name and Aunt Sarah's name is still McCool, because Orla, sprite-like creature that she is, having no other biological origin and being magicked into being by psychic vibes or the universe is AS believable to me as Aunt Sarah having gotten pregnant by a man and completely forgetting who he was or where it happened because she doesn't live according to the human concept of time or reason.

in season 3's prom episode of derry girls, it was clear that the dynamics between the mothers when they were in high school were replicated in the next generation too. The four women attended the prom with Diedre's cousin accompanying her (and then all of them). So we have four girls and a male cousin of one of them which is just like the Derry girls' situation. And Rob was openly gay. Doesn't this hint at James being gay/queer too ?

Ok we agree Orla is autistic but what about Sarah and COLM. Homegirl had to have inherited it from someone

The closing frame of the Derry Girls finale being Joe (eldest) and Anna (youngest) the last to leave the polling station hand in hand and jumping over the threshold into a new era together was just fucking fantastic.
