-Save Room- Hello! I would like to share my little project with the world. After returning to The Sims 2 after over 15 years and last year's release of Resident Evil 4 Remake, I came up with the idea to create a photo story of some specific scenes inspired by the world and gameplay of RE4. I'm mainly based on the original RE. Due to the fact that the premieres of RE4 OG and TS2 are only half a year apart, I think that both games have quite similar textures, for example. However, I do plan to borrow a little something from Remake from time to time. I must admit that it gives me a lot of fun! Enjoy!

Save Room - The Merchant

Over a year later, a second Save Room game was made and if the subtitle of “The Merchant” isn’t already an indication, it doubles down on the Resident Evil 4 inspirations both in its presentation and mechanics. For a start, there’s a story now, where you play as a secret agent who goes through many deadly offscreen adventures in order to save the president’s dog from an unsavory cult. This is conveyed through brief tongue-in-cheek scenes every few stages where your character is contacted by your support team and the game’s many villains, reminiscent of the radio chats Leon has with Hunnigan in Resi 4.

Investigator (THE X-FILES inspired Save Room Music) by Survival Spheres

The place exuded an organic air. Empty space was suffused with something reminiscent of moonlight and mundane sounds were somehow... clearer. The passage of time seemed distorted, as did some memories.

Unreasonably thrilled with this gift. What's a home without a save room?

Here are six games from 2022 that I enjoyed: 

A Building Full of Cats: Finding oodles of kitties hidden in cute drawings. Relaxing and short.

A Little to the Left: Sorting and organizing to figure out puzzles. Sometimes chill, sometimes a challenge. 

Cosmonious High: Goofing around in an alien school with goofy characters in VR. 

Elden Ring: Gothy, melodramatic weirdos doing sword and/or wizard battles. (I cannot stop playing this damn game, haha.) 

Save Room: A whole game of JUST inventory management. Chill and satisfying. 

Wylde Flowers: Farming, witchcraft, and a heaping helping of story. (Also, I married a werewolf.) 

Looking forward to more new games next year!

Watching Penny play Save Room filled me with such secondhand fish, ammo and herb-related anxiety… Good times!

Save Room

Save Room might be the most “obviously a fan game but technically not” game in some time. It’s clearly a Resident Evil fan game, utilizing the presentation of the series’ older games and basing its entire concept on the attaché case item management from Resident Evil 4. You’re given a limited grid, and a variety of items to fit within it. You start off with weapons and boxes of ammo types, but more items are added as you progress through the game’s 40 puzzles including health restoratives, grenades, ammo powder and more.
