Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory (October 26, 1999)

In honor of one of the best prog metal albums ever, I did a little piece based on Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory, the 1999 album by Dream Theater. Featuring Camden, my Ultra Moon OC, as an anthro Arcanine.

I want you to know that the entire time Noelle was describing what Kris said to her on the porch, I was picturing Kris’s facial expression for those lines exactly as you drew them in the “susie would definitely ride with you” panel of your comic

I don't know how popular the "Metropolis - Part I didn't need a sequel" thing is, but I've seen it enough times to know it's not an isolated thing, and okay, it might not need a sequel, but saying that feels too much like protesting the existence of Scenes From a Memory, which is just... ?????

the reason ralsei is changing is because of susie

the way he said it, darkners that are based on memories of loved ones can "only appear in specific darkness". meaning, originally, ralsei was kris' memory

and, similarly, gerson was presumably Alvin's?

except. gerson came back. it's the third sanctuary. a different dark world. but he's still here. and why?

because SUSIE remembers him. she wrote alvin the letter from him. she fought him and won and came back to look for him. because now he's in her memories, too.

following that logic, of course ralsei is in her memories too. more prominently, too, each time she returns to an adventure. he strays further from the blurry memories kris has, into something that's both theirs and hers

and, while we're at it, maybe ours, too. we shape him with our choices because we're part of this team too

Eddie woke up remembering absolutely nothing except his uncle, the Hellfire guys, and the gorgeous Adonis who looked exactly like his husband.

Gareth: He's not your husband, dude.

Eddie: Yes, he is.

Gareth: How?? You hated him.

Eddie: I was dumb.

Gareth: Okay, how about this? He's the reason you ended up in the hospital.

Eddie: What did he do?

Gareth: He ran over you. With his 'douchebag beamer'.

Steve, in the background: I said I'm sorry!

Eddie: So I did fall for him.

Gareth: No Eddie. No.

Eddie: Yes Eddie. Absolutely.

When Eddie finally got back his memory, he was already too neck deep in the domestic bliss with Steve Harrington to call off the whole thing anymore. He still had beef with the guy, but nothing a few kisses and a bed couldn't fix. They were husbands, after all.

The skyline of Metropolis rose up ahead of them, the city lights like a thousand stars in the sky. The wind pulled at her hair, whisking away the sweat from her face and neck.

ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: 2x01 - “Heavy is the Crown”

For the record, you can pry my “Sarai used to be in the Crownguard before she married Harrow” headcanon from my cold, dead hands

Amaya trained the Standing Battalion and Sarai trained the Crownguard, and their ability to work together is why Katolis had the strongest fighting force in the Pentarchy

You can also pry “Sarai and Soren were insanely close before her death” from my cold, dead hands. Maybe not even then, because I’m gripping this idea tightly, even in death

Sarai helped Soren and his family manage his illness because of her experience with Damian. And Soren was just so excited that the Head Crownguard was hanging out with him! Even when he was at his worst, he’d always perk up if he could see Sarai train the soldiers from his bedroom window, or regale him with stories of legendary battles at his bedside

After Soren got better and Sarai left the Crownguard to become Princess of Katolis, she offered to show him the basics of swordplay and strategy to help Soren with all of his pent-up energy. Even though he wouldn’t be interested in poetry until years later, Soren was introduced to the concept through Sarai, who’d recite some of Damian’s old work for him during their time together. Sarai had essentially become one of Soren’s constants after his family fell apart with Lissa leaving, Viren growing cold, and Claudia throwing herself into magic

At least until she died, heroically saving his dad

AU where Leo is trapped in the Prison Dimension for months instead of minutes and the only way he gets by with his sanity intact is through recording himself talking to his wrist comm.

When they finally manage to get Leo back and make him rest up to heal, Donnie can’t help but listen to the recordings left behind.

He’s not sure what exactly he’s expecting, only that his subconscious is screaming at him that it has to be heartbreaking, that it has to be torturous.

Instead, what Donnie is subject to is a full thousand hours’ worth of Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu crossover fanfiction. More than one part in the series. Spanning well over a million words.

(The worst part is that it’s actually good.)
