(I Will Soon Be Offering) Private Guitar Lessons
Tumblr media
A few months ago one of my followers asked if I had ever thought about offering guitar lessons online via webcam. I replied that it was indeed something I had thought about but that I would need to give it more thought as to how I would approach teaching online, whether or not I had the proper equipment to provide a professional experience, how many students I could take on, and what exactly I could offer as a teacher. I also noted that I would have to create a suitable space in my apartment for hosting students. This last part took care of itself when my roommate moved out and I am presently converting his old bedroom into an office. As for the rest? Well I gave it some thought and I've hacked together reasonable solutions for most of those other issues, so I would like to announce that beginning later this winter/this spring I will be offering private one-on-one guitar lessons via webcam.
My Qualifications:
While I graduated with a degree in Classics and attended graduate school in that field, I was initially accepted into university as a music major on the basis of my guitar playing. It was only after a few years that I switched majors into Classics. In the end I still managed enough credits to claim a minor in music.
Before attending university I spent a year studying jazz theory/jazz improvisation at the college level.
Both prior to and concurrent with my college/university music education I studied classical guitar privately with a teacher for a little over a decade; through him I can claim teaching lineage back to Francisco Tárrega.
I have played in a few garage bands that never really went anywhere, performed with friends at house parties, jammed around as much as I could, and performed live as a solo guitarist.
I previously taught guitar while in university; this is not my first rodeo.
I have been playing guitar for a little over twenty three years.
What I Can Offer:
If you're a beginner I can happily guide your playing to a level where you would feel comfortable learning songs on your own, and we would start with learning basic chords, basic technique, and putting it all together into learning a few songs.
If you're past the beginner stage, I can take your playing to a level where you would be able to convincingly improvise a solo over a song, play more advanced songs, and sit in with a jam session.
If learning to read sheet music is a goal am able to assist with that.
If you're interested in beginner classical guitar I would feel comfortable teaching repertoire and technique to the level of Royal Conservatory of Music Grade Five examinations. Grade Five repertoire is typically the minimum requirement when auditioning on guitar for a university level music program in Canada. I have several guitar methods at my disposal for teaching technique, and access to a wide array of repertoire sheet music.
I am also able to teach theory as it pertains to playing the guitar and point you towards texts that from beginner levels up to basic harmonic analysis. I can teach you how chords are constructed, how they fit together into a progression, and the basic grammar of music.
Lessons, Pricing, What to Expect, What a Prospective Student Will Require:
The going rate for private music lessons is $40-$50 per hour and ranges up to well over $100 for some in demand teachers. My fee operates on a sliding scale with a floor of $20USD/$25CAD per hour. If you are comfortable paying the typical going rate, wonderful, if you are unable to afford that, we can work something out, no questions asked. Payment should be sent through PayPal or Interac e-transfer.
Due to chronic illness I can't take on more than five students a week. They needn't necessarily be the same five students every week; if a bi-weekly lesson schedule works better for a number of people, they can alternate. In the rare event that there is more demand than that mutuals and longtime followers will have priority.
What you need as a student: A guitar; a webcam; a microphone; a way of letting me hear your playing. This could mean having your microphone positioned so that I can hear your amplifier clearly, or by using a direct input. Feel free to shoot me a message if you want some recommendations for inexpensive DI-boxes and audio interfaces. Headphones would be a good idea too.
If you commit to more than one lesson the first will be free of charge. Your first lesson with me will look something like this: we'll talk about your goals and intentions i.e. what it is you hope to get out of taking guitar lessons and how far you want to take your playing. As we chat about that we can chart out a course to get you there, and then we'll just generally see where you're at. The rest of the lesson will be taken up with some pointers on properly caring for and tuning your instrument, and then we'll put some thought towards the way our bodies are posed, how we have the guitar positioned in relation to our bodies, exercising good hand ergonomics, and finding a playing position that is both comfortable and which allows for optimal freedom of movement.
I live in Toronto which is UTC -5 keep this in mind if you're interested in taking lessons and are located elsewhere.
I intend to do my best at being a trooper and toughing it out, and I will aim to not cancel lessons without fair warning, but the nature of my illness means that I may need to resort to this occasionally. You will need to be alright with this.
If you're interested, you can contact me here or at [email protected]. Hopefully I can get enough people interested that I can go about figuring out everyone's availability and drawing up a schedule.

Terrance Harley Quackenbush-Benson, Oregon inmate 27345456, born 1995, incarceration intake May 2025 at age 29, scheduled for release October 2048
Manslaughter, Assault
In May 2025, a Springfield Oregon man found guilty of killing two in a 2024 crash in Salem Oregon was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Terrance Quackenbush-Benson, 29, was indicted by a Marion County Grand Jury for two counts of first-degree manslaughter, two counts of second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, second-degree assault and two counts of third-degree assault.
His five-day trial began April 30 and lasted until May 7. The jury deliberated for about 6.5 hours before delivering a unanimous verdict of guilty on all charges.
On Sept. 16, 2024, Quackenbush-Benson was driving his truck on Cordon Road Southeast when he crossed over the center line shortly after 10 a.m. and struck another truck head-on.
The driver of the other truck and one of her passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Quackenbush-Benson, his girlfriend, who was a passenger in his truck, and the front passenger seat in the other truck, were taken to a hospital with injuries.
Quackenbush-Benson was on his way back from Eugene, where he was finishing up a diversion program from a previous DUII, when the crash occurred, according to the defense attorney.
First-degree manslaughter carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in Oregon. The Judge chose to run both sentences consecutively. Second-degree assault has a mandatory minimum sentence of 70 months. Hart imposed four years to run consecutive and the remainder to run concurrent with the other sentences, bringing the total sentence to 24 years.
Roberts said officers found Dust-Off canisters in Quackenbush-Benson's car, which he had purchased that morning.
Dust-Off contains a drug called Difluoroethane, or DFE, which is an intoxicant. Roberts said a blood test showed Quackenbush-Benson had DFE in his blood.
The defense lawyer said Quackenbush-Benson was no longer under the influence by the time of the crash.

Today—250 years since the Continental Army officially formed to fight for the independence of the American colonies against the British monarchy—marks a milestone in President Donald Trump’s effort to politicize the U.S. military. Though they are rare, military parades have happened before in Washington, D.C. For the most part, these have been celebrations of military achievements, such as the end of a war. But today is also Trump’s birthday, and what he and his supporters have planned is a celebration of Trump himself.
A mark of a free society is that its public institutions, especially its military, represent the body politic and the freedom-enabling equal rights that structure civic life. If service members and the public begin to believe that the military is not neutral but is in fact the servant of MAGA, this will threaten the military’s legitimacy and increase the likelihood of violent conflict between the military and the public. Today’s events bring us one step closer to this disaster.
I have seen the politicization of the military firsthand. Last month, I resigned my tenured position as a philosophy professor at West Point in protest of the dramatic changes the Trump administration is making to academic programs at military-service academies. Following an executive order from January, the Department of Defense banned most discussions of race and gender in the classroom. West Point applied this standard to faculty scholarship as well. As a result, my research agenda—I study the relationship between masculinity and war, among other things—was effectively off limits. I consider what the Trump administration is doing to the military-service academies as a profound violation of the military’s political neutrality. That destructive ethos is the same one apparent in the parade scheduled for today.
Before Trump was reelected, the Army had planned significant celebrations across the country to mark this day, including the release of a commemorative postage stamp and a visit to the International Space Station by an Army astronaut. But according to The New York Times, arrangements for today’s D.C. event, unlike the other plans, began only this year.
The day is scheduled to begin with a variety of family-friendly concerts, a meet and greet with NFL players, and military-fitness competitions, all on the National Mall. If all goes to plan, the celebrations will culminate with what organizers are calling a “grand military parade” that starts near the Pentagon, crosses the Potomac River, and ends near the White House. The parade is anticipated to involve 6,700 active-duty soldiers and a massive display of Army equipment: dozens of M1A1 Abrams tanks and Stryker armored personnel carriers, along with more than 100 other land vehicles, 50 helicopters, and a B-25 bomber. Trump is scheduled to give remarks after the parade and receive a flag delivered from the air by the U.S. Army Parachute Team known as the Golden Knights. A fireworks show is set to follow later tonight.
The organizers have made it abundantly clear that today’s purpose is to directly laud Trump and his politics. In promotional materials, they tell us, “Under President Trump’s leadership, the Army has been restored to strength and readiness.” They credit his “America First agenda” for military pay increases, enlarged weapons stockpiles, new technologies, and improvements in recruitment, declaring that he has “ensured our soldiers have the tools and support they need to win on any battlefield.”
Monica Crowley, the State Department’s chief of protocol and a former Fox News host, went on Steve Bannon’s podcast WarRoom to say that the concurrence of the U.S. Army’s anniversary and Trump’s birthday is “providential.” She called it “meant to be. Hand of God, for sure.” She added, “It is really a gift, and we want to be sure that we celebrate in a manner that is fitting, not just of this extraordinary president but of our extraordinary country.” She also expressed hope that the crowd would serenade the president with “Happy Birthday.” Clearly, Trump isn’t merely the guest of honor; he is the reason for the party.
During his first administration, members of Trump’s own Cabinet often thwarted his efforts to corrupt the Pentagon. This time, Trump has appointed a secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, who is willing to tear down the boundaries separating politics and the management of national defense. Trump and Hegseth claim to be purging the military of politicization instilled by previous administrations and resetting the DOD around the nonpartisan matter of readiness for war. But in reality, they have used this rationale as a cover to insert an unprecedented level of political partisanship into the military.
Other events in recent months have pointed in this same direction. For instance, in February, the administration fired the top lawyers for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The only meaningful justification given for the move was Hegseth’s claim that the fired lawyers might be roadblocks to the president’s agenda—a frightening admission.
In January, the administration banned transgender people from serving in the military, not because they allegedly pose a threat to unit cohesion or because their medical treatment is unusually expensive, but because they are supposedly bad people (“not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member”). At present, transgender soldiers who have met all performance standards are being discharged simply because of the administration’s bigotry against them.
The administration has also inserted its politics into all the military-service academies—the reason I left West Point last month. Trump and Hegseth have denied the validity of ideas that are taken seriously in a variety of disciplines and banned them from the classroom, including, as I noted above, matters pertaining to race and gender. Books and other works, most of which are by women and people of color, have been removed from the curriculum. The academic programs of the service academies are now structured around the Trump administration’s ideological worldview. Faculty and cadets wonder if they are allowed to entertain perspectives inconsistent with the administration’s politics.
In May, Hegseth led an evangelical prayer service in the Pentagon’s auditorium. Standing at a lectern with the Department of Defense seal, Hegseth led the audience in prayer to “our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.” The main speaker at this service was Hegseth’s pastor, Brooks Potteiger, of the Pilgrim Hill Reformed Fellowship, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. This church restricts all leadership positions to men, declares homosexuality immoral, and asserts that women should not serve in combat. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a secretary of defense acknowledging his religious faith. What’s objectionable is the use of his authority to push his personal religious views on subordinates, especially as the director of a major institution of the secular state.
The president now routinely speaks to uniformed service members in his red MAGA hat, using his trademark rhetoric centering himself and belittling, even demonizing, his critics. He openly suggests a special alliance between him and the military. At Fort Bragg on Tuesday, for instance, Trump encouraged uniformed soldiers to cheer his political agenda and boo his enemies.
This is all extremely dangerous. Keeping the military a politically neutral servant of the constitutional order, not of the president or his political ideology, is vital to ensuring the security of civil society.
Up until a week ago, the blurring of the boundaries between the administration’s ideology and the military had not yet manifested as an attempt to employ the military directly on Trump’s—or the Republican Party’s—behalf. The steps taken until that point had been mostly symbolic. (The one possible exception was the deployment of the military at the southern border in what is essentially a law-enforcement matter.)
But these symbolic expressions of military politicization have paved the way for that endgame—presidential orders that deploy the military for directly partisan ends. In just the past week, the Trump administration responded to protests against the enforcement of his immigration policies with military deployments. The likelihood that the administration will try to use the military against its political opponents is now very high. If that comes to pass, we will then learn just how successful Trump’s efforts to politicize the military have been.

Cancelled Missions: SA-11 through SA-14 (AS-106 through AS-108) Saturn I Block II
Tumblr media
"September 1962 NASA planned to fly four early manned Apollo spacecraft on Saturn I boosters. Cancelled in October 1963 in order to fly all-up manned Apollo CSM on more powerful Saturn IB.
Launched: 1965 Winter. Number crew: 3 .
A key prerequisite for these flights was complete wringing out of the launch escape system.
The tentative Apollo flight plan laid out the following unmanned tests before a manned flight would be undertaken:
Pad abort: Two tests to simulate an abort on the pad. These tests would qualify the launch escape system
Suborbital (Little Joe II): Three suborbital tests to qualify the launch escape system and the command module structure. Tests would include maximum dynamic and high altitude conditions.
Orbital (Saturn C-1): Flights SA-6 (with SA-8 as backup) would determine the launch exit environment. SA-7, SA-9, and SA-10 would flight-test components of or the complete emergency detection system. Four manned flights would then commence with SA-11.
By January 10, 1963, MSC and OMSF agreed that an unmanned Apollo spacecraft must be flown on the Saturn C-1 before a manned flight. SA-10 was scheduled to be the unmanned flight and SA-11, the first manned mission.

By the later summer of 1963 the value of the Saturn I missions seemed increasingly in doubt. The limited payload of the Saturn I meant that only partial systems could be installed. At a September 26, 1963 meeting in Washington, D.C., NASA's scheduling contractor, Bellcomm, was asked to develop an Apollo mission assignment program without a Saturn I.
Bellcomm quickly responded, recommending that the Apollo spacecraft flight test program should be transferred from the Saturn I to Saturn IB launch vehicles. The Saturn I program should end with flight SA-10. All Saturn IB flights, beginning with SA-201, should carry operational spacecraft, including equipment for extensive testing of the spacecraft systems in earth orbit. Associate Administrator for Manned Space Flight George E. Mueller recommended the changeover on October 26. NASA Administrator James E. Webb's concurrence came two days later. Development of the Saturn IB for manned flight would be accelerated and 'all-up' testing would be started.
No crew assignments were ever made for these flights; the first two groups of astronauts were fully committed to the Gemini program. The third astronaut selection, in October 1963, was simultaneous with the decision to drop the Saturn I flights. Had these flights occurred, they would have run from fall 1965 to the end of 1966, concurrent with the flights of Gemini 5 to 12."
Cancelled missions:
SA-11 (AS-106): planned launch Winter 1965
SA-12 (AS-107): planned launch Spring 1966
SA-13 (SA-108): planned launch Summer 1966
SA-14 (AS-109): planned launch Fall 1966

backpacking with bigfoot
Tumblr media
not the best read ever, but it was fun to write :) that's what matters, right? the guy in this pic i saw on pinterest looks like Bo from behind. i've been wanting a good backpacking trip lately, and i thought i'd take a whack at sharing my iMaGiNaTiOn~
______________________________________________________________
“Honey, you see over there where the mountains make a baby stegosaurus spine?” Bo’s gloved fingers point to distant mountains, as if none of the other mountains could look like a version of a dinosaur spine. “C’mere, look right down my finger where I’m pointing.”
You step closer to Bo’s lean body, his arm tightly pulling you in so that you have a better vantage point. He’s bent down to ensure you share his line of sight, and his warm breath on your cheek contrasts sharply with the crisp autumn air. The warmth melts your focus briefly, but you zero in on a chain of mountains a couple miles away that, sure enough, looks like a baby stegosaurus spine.
Smiling calmly in the quiet morning, your eyes squint at the far sight. Bo cranes slightly forward to see your face better, and he reflects your smile knowing that you finally found it. He lowers his hand and grabs your arm as you both mindfully soak in the beauty before you.
You and Bo desperately needed this trip. Backpacking is something you both turn to when you need a mental reset. Of course, Bo is constantly busy with his projects, but you admittedly can’t help but be jealous of his schedule’s flexibility. Between your full-time job, part-time graduate program, and concurrent internship for school, you are practically an empty shell with no energy left to be with your beau. Always your biggest fan, Bo initiated this trip for you to let loose and return to the wild. Away from the stale schedule and soul-sucking computer screens. Conscious of the projects that he’s put on hold for this trip, you nearly cried when he shared what he’d been planning for you.
In reference to one of your first backpacking trips together, Bo pointed out that you need your hair to be tangled with the wind again. He kissed your forehead and told you that he missed his wild woman.
You hadn’t yet reached your desired destination on that leg of your trek when a strong wind steadily barreled over you both, pressing on all sides. Gray skies blanketed the shadowed thicket of trees before you. Bo turned and yelled for you to make a run for it before picking up speed to a quick jog, which, for you, meant a sprint. You were a persevering little soldier behind him, though, reaching the destination after only a couple minutes’ hurry. Excitement carried you both to a record timing for setting up camp in the twilight.
The wind continued its assault outside the thin walls of your shared tent, but neither of you could care less as you sat cross-legged, facing each other in silence while you scarfed down the dried fruit and jerky that you’d measured out for the trip. Bo’s wide eyes a bright blue as he came down from the rush of adrenaline. Lungs greedily sucked air in through his nose while he chewed with his mouth. Surely you looked just as windswept and out of it.
You gazed at his hand as it removed his tan beanie, unveiling his sweaty, dirty-blond hair that stood every which way. That’s when you noticed the tangled bird’s nest that the wind made of your own hair. Your chewing stopped. Looking down at your hair on your shoulder, you slowly set your snack down to free your fingers to assess the damage. Bo’s eyes widened even more above the grin that struggled to contain his mouthful of jerky.
In his mumbled mouthful, “Oh shit, you’ve gone feral!” He laughed through his nose at the sight before him and swallowed a bit to say, “Baby, that’s not coming out. You’re too knotty.” Wiggling eyebrows accessorized his punny observation.
You knew it was funny, and you did your best to meet him at his energy level, but tangled hair was something that made you anxious. A mild panic set in as you frantically forced your fingers at the knots. Partially feigned but mainly sincere, you whined through a clown frown and begged Bo to help you with your failing triage.
Bo had to cut multiple angry knots out of your hair that night. “Bigfoot,” as you nicknamed him later on that trip, giggled at your misfortune as he worked over your head with his prized pocket knife. Although he laughed at your childish sulking, you were highly aware of his boyish gushing over the fact that he finally got to use his knife in an “emergency situation.”
You squeezed yourself into Bo’s sleeping bag that night to make use of his radiating warmth. He quietly played with your hair, coaxing you to sleep after the hard day’s work. Every now and then he’d give a squeeze to your shoulders, your legs. Trying to help you relax. Just as you were slipping into slumber, you heard him joke about having to clean up some wild mountain woman he’d found in the woods.
You both stare at the mountains and turn to each other after a moment to share each other’s awe. From the east, a chilly breeze skates around your stance like a river around weathered rocks. Bo moves behind you to wrap his lanky arms around your shoulders and neck, his chin on your head. His steady breath is heard through your beanie. You close your eyes and allow your body to mold itself to his front.
“Baby,” Bo coos to you quietly, just loud enough to be heard above the sound of the breeze. “When we’re on the way back in two days, our stegosaurus will be taking a shower.”
Unseen but likely anticipated by Bo, you furrowed your brows in question before turning around to face this dummy. “Hhhwhat?” Looking up at Bo’s height becomes tiring after a while, but his sarcastic expression intrigues you further. You begin in a serious tone, “If you’re indulging in our psychedelic chocolates without me,” your fist grasping his jacket at his chest, your teeth clenched together in jest, “I’m going to murder you because we said we’re saving them for the last night.” He knows you’re playing tough. His eyes move to your fist at his chest, lower lip caught under his perfect teeth. You know he has something up his sleeve.
Bo’s eyes soften as they hold your gaze. He gently places his large hands of your fist, massaging it into relaxation. God, his smile when it warms up. “Our baby stegosaurus really will be taking a shower.” He waits for your gears to turn, basking in the confusion he’s trapped you in. The easterlies still feathering around you.
Not wanting to be stumped, you sweep your imagination for what the fuck Bo is getting at. Dinosaurs? Mountains? Shower? Bo bends down so his smug, beautiful face is right in front of yours. Barely audible, “Give up?”
“Ugh, fine,” you dramatically roll your eyes at him. You can’t hide your stupid grin. “How is our baby going to take a shower?” Eyebrows raised in expectation.
Still bent down at your level, Bo places his gloved hands on either side of your face. His eyes roam over every inch. His chapped lips a bright red next to his pale flesh, and you watch as they form the words more than you hear them in Bo’s low whisper, “She’s going to shower in the meteors, the Leonid meteor shower.” Red lips pull into a sweet smile.
Bo remembered. You’ve disclosed many of your dear memories with your dad, your favorites being when you would stay up late or wake up early together to witness the satellite passing, catch clear views of constellations, or whatever astronomical event was forecasted. It’s only been a year since you’ve lost him.
Grateful tears prick at your eyes, and you notice Bo is struggling with the same issue. You let out a breathy laugh as you lean in to kiss this precious man. Overwhelmed by Bo’s thoughtfulness, your attempt to hold your tears back gives way. You cry into the kiss and deepen it with the force of your hands on his back. His strong hands delicately cup the back of your head, changing the angle of your kiss from this way to that.
Your embrace softens, allowing you to pull back from each other, see one another’s faces. “You’re so good to me, Bo,” you choke out, nose stinging a little from holding the tears back.
“Honey,” Bo wipes a runaway tear with his thumb. “I want this trip to be anything and everything you need. I want to be anything and everything that you need.” He pecks an energetic kiss on your cheek. “You need a chef? You need a man? You need a dork? A good fuck? I can be all those things.” Somehow, he is brighter than the sun. “But, Jesus Christ, all this talk about us having a baby stegosaurus together is making me a little horny.” Bo stands up tall and gives you a knowing look, one eyebrow cocked. “Let’s head out so we can make our destination soon and get a little cozy, huh?”
You laugh at your chosen man as you turn around. An abrupt smack on your ass makes you shriek in reflex. The daggers you throw at him with your eyes apparently miss the target because he incredulously searches for whoever would dare do such a thing.

I was explaining Evangelical Christian poisoning to one of my friends (she doesn’t have a lot of exposure to it because she’s Jewish) and I said, “You’d be surprised how many people think getting martyred is more powerful and more important than good works. It’s the Christianity.”
And I think that’s the full explanation of why one conflict has to be so much worse than every other (because they care about it), why they would throw over their own politics, ethics, and morals to coalition with Truly The Worst People Ever Devised, why there has to be a clearcut Ultimate Bad Guy (they view The Ultimate Bad Guys as a collective) and Ultimate Good Guys (they always view the Ultimate Good Guys as individuals), etc.
Even if they’re wrong, they’re lying, etc, they think they will be vindicated and deified as martyrs after their death. They don’t have to do real research. They don’t have to say true things. They don’t have to check they’re the ones being tricked or supporting violence, they can’t be held to the standard of fact-checking, ever. For any reason. Because they’ll be canonized. Because they’ll be martyrs.
It just… is the Christianity.
There are a lot of very bad things impacting a lot of people right now. There are a lot of violent and powerful people using civilians as pawns, sacrifices, or human shields in desperate power grabs. This is happening all over, to many groups of people. Please check your information sources, your media literacy, your critical thinking skills. Please be gentle with yourselves and don’t overwhelm your mind with violent scenes and imagery. Please rest.
Consider donating to aid organizations, like Standing Together.
Follow people who don’t hide the nuance of situations, and keep at least vaguely aware of concurrent events. And: cannot stress this enough, Take. Breaks.
Not resting and letting your mind process makes everyone much more vulnerable to being tricked. Propaganda works the same as marketing fraud which works the same as other types of scams. The more emotional, the more exhausted, the more desperate for change: the easier it is to spread lies. And once those lies spread, it is extremely difficult to trace them back to their origins.
That’s all I have to say. I should be back to my irregularly scheduled lace programming this weekend (provided my paints cooperate).

operating system
An Operating System (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs. It's the most fundamental software that enables other applications to run on a computing device. Here's a detailed breakdown of an operating system:
1. Definition of Operating System
An Operating System is software that acts as an intermediary between computer hardware and the user. It provides a user interface and controls all hardware components, making it easier for users and applications to interact with the computer without needing to know hardware-level details.
2. Functions of Operating System
✅ a. Process Management
Manages processes in a system: creation, scheduling, termination.
Handles multitasking (running multiple processes simultaneously).
Provides mechanisms for process synchronization and communication.
✅ b. Memory Management
Allocates and deallocates memory space as needed by programs.
Keeps track of each byte in a computer’s memory and optimizes RAM usage.
Manages virtual memory (swap space on disk).
✅ c. File System Management
Organizes files on storage devices like hard drives or SSDs.
Provides file-related operations: create, delete, read, write, etc.
Manages file permissions and security.
✅ d. Device Management
Controls and manages I/O devices (keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.).
Uses device drivers to communicate with hardware components.
Allocates devices to processes when needed.
✅ e. Security and Access Control
Protects data and system resources from unauthorized access.
Supports user authentication and permissions.
Provides encryption and firewall mechanisms.
✅ f. User Interface
Provides a user interface to interact with the system:
Command-Line Interface (CLI)
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
🔷 3. Types of Operating Systems
TypeDescriptionBatch OSExecutes batches of jobs without manual intervention.Time-sharing OSMultiple users share system resources simultaneously.Distributed OSManages a group of distinct computers and makes them appear as one.Real-time OSResponds to input instantly (used in critical systems like flight control).Network OSManages network resources and allows shared access to files and printers.Mobile OSSpecialized OS for mobile devices (e.g., Android, iOS).Embedded OSUsed in embedded systems like smart TVs, washing machines, etc.
🔷 4. Examples of Operating Systems
💻 Desktop and Server OS:
Microsoft Windows
Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS)

It's official. We are in deep orb*t.
Time: 15:45 GMT Classification: Delegate Circulation – Tier II
As orbital conditions continue to deteriorate, joint reports from ESA’s Space Safety Program and Japan’s JAXA indicate a marginal but measurable shift in regional debris densities. Recent simulations show that certain high-inclination orbital clusters are experiencing momentary stabilizations, particularly along corridors influenced by gravitational resonances near natural orbital harmonics.
While not yet well-understood, these pockets—some now referred to informally as “drag valleys”—appear to be temporarily mitigating fragment velocity. The phenomenon is attracting renewed attention from orbital physicists and satellite operators, particularly in relation to low-thrust repositioning options.
Separately, three private aerospace firms have issued joint statements reaffirming the operational readiness of select low-orbit maneuvering assets previously designated for debris collection trials. Though deployment was originally scheduled for 2026 under commercial licensing, sources suggest contingency pathways for emergency repurposing are under review.
No official statement has been made regarding international access to these systems, but informal conversations within technical subcommittees hint at “non-sovereign cooperation opportunities”. All of this has been happening concurrently, but the diplomats are too absorbed in arguing who is to blame to take any action. " All bark, no bite. " -- Protests are beginning to start in private space sectors.
Meanwhile, a growing number of orbital mission controllers have begun adjusting small satellite vectors, citing “collision forecasting exercises” and “atmospheric decay planning,” though no directive has been formally issued.
While many questions remain, a pattern is emerging: a global space environment in quiet triage—less about restoring order, more about managing survivability.

It was a mega-MAGA morning on Capitol Hill. In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Kash Patel, Donald Trump’s nominee to head the F.B.I., faced hostile questioning from Democrats about his past as a QAnon-adjacent promoter of conspiracy theories and his extensive public vows to exact revenge on Trump’s “deep-state” enemies. In another hearing room, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services, sparred with skeptical senators from both parties who worried about his record of undermining public confidence in vaccines. And, testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s nominee to serve as the director of National Intelligence, did little to help her nomination—perhaps the most politically uncertain of them all—when she was confronted about her controversial views on everything from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine to Edward Snowden. At the hearing’s start, she preëmptively dismissed the criticism as “lies and smears,” though hours of sharp queries from senators suggested that for Gabbard, as for Patel and Kennedy, the best evidence against her confirmation had come from her own voluble past.
That this Trump trifecta faced simultaneous confirmation hearings appeared to be a masterstroke in outrage management by the Senate’s Republican scheduling gods: Who could possibly keep track of the overwhelming number of controversies, concerning revelations, and just plain weirdness to come out of the hearings? But, after I watched all three sessions, thanks to the magic of C-SPAN and the Internet, it seemed clear that these three appointments have more in common than just their concurrent hearings: they have perfectly met the qualification that Trump cares most about—a proven record of tearing down the credibility of the institutions that he has chosen them to lead.
Let’s stipulate that many of Trump’s other nominees are flawed or ill-suited to high office—thin résumés and sizable Fox News contracts might well be the distinguishing characteristic for many in his new Cabinet. But Thursday’s trio stands out for the sheer destructive Trumpiness of their time in public life. Patel once promised that, if he became F.B.I. director, he’d shut down the Bureau’s headquarters and reopen it the next day “as a museum of the ‘deep state.’ ” Kennedy’s long career as a scourge of the scientific establishment includes comparing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one of the agencies he would oversee as H.H.S. chief, to “fascism” and its childhood-vaccination program to “Nazi death camps.” Gabbard, as a left-wing congresswoman turned right-wing Trump acolyte, has often questioned foundational conclusions of the American intelligence community. These are not problems as far as the President is concerned—they’re selling points.
This came through, perhaps unintentionally, in an early moment during Patel’s hearing, when Chuck Grassley, the Senate Judiciary chairman, complained at length about the F.B.I.’s participation in “a political scheme to take down Trump.” Then Grassley went on to address the nominee directly: “They have yet to learn a lesson, and I hope you’ll teach that lesson.” Patel, in other words, is there to wreak payback for Trump. So are the others. These are Cabinet appointments as a form of revenge.
There was a certain slow-motion-car-crash appeal in watching the contortions of Republican senators like Grassley as they strained to justify or explain away these embarrassing nominations. The most gimmicky approach was that of Thom Tillis, the North Carolina Republican charged with introducing Patel. In an effort to veer away from the many shocking statements Patel has made during television appearances, podcast interviews, and in his own writings, he prepared a handout: “Kash Bingo,” with phrases, such as “enemies list” and “deep state,” that he expected Democrats to harp on in their questions. I’m surprised he didn’t follow Patel’s example and turn the whole thing into a children’s cartoon book. (See “The Plot Against the King,” Patel’s 2022 recounting of the injustices done to Trump, in which he stars as Kash the Distinguished Discoverer.)
The senators’ squirming was nothing, though, compared with that of the nominees themselves. The most politically costly squirm might have come in Kennedy’s hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, when Senator Bill Cassidy, of Louisiana, questioned him. Cassidy, the committee’s chairman and a medical doctor himself, is a key vote in determining whether Kennedy’s nomination succeeds or fails. He opened by acknowledging it was “no secret” that he had “reservations” about Kennedy, then voiced his concern that Kennedy would undermine vaccines in the role of America’s top health official. “Will you reassure mothers unequivocally . . . that the measles and hepatitis-B vaccines do not cause autism?” Cassidy asked. Kennedy started in on a rambling answer about data, but Cassidy cut him off: It was a yes-or-no question. Still, Kennedy would not offer an answer. Up next, Senator Bernie Sanders found himself in an unfamiliar role as a wingman to the conservative Louisianan. “Vaccines do not cause autism,” Sanders said. “Do you agree with that?” Again, Kennedy would not answer. Had he just failed the Cassidy test? Later, Cassidy suggested that might well have been the case. “Your past of undermining confidence in vaccines with unfounded or misleading arguments concerns me,” he said. “Can I trust that that is now in the past?”
Each of the three nominees tried a similar evasion technique when presented with problematic aspects of their own past. Sometimes, they lapsed into pure brazenness, as when Dick Durbin, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, asked Patel if he was familiar with Stew Peters, a prominent right-wing conspiracy theorist. “Not off the top of my head,” Patel said. Durbin responded dryly, “You’ve made eight separate appearances on his podcasts.” When Amy Klobuchar, the Minnesota Democrat, asked Patel about his so-called enemies list—sixty members of the “Executive Branch Deep State,” many of them Republicans who disagreed with him or who tried to block him from obtaining more powerful positions in Trump’s first Administration, which were listed as an appendix in his 2023 book, “Government Gangsters”—Patel insisted, “It is not an enemies list. It is a total mischaracterization. It is a glossary.”
Not all of the attacks, incidentally, came from Democrats. In the Intelligence Committee, senators from both parties pushed Gabbard to say whether she believed Snowden’s leaks about the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs made him a “traitor.” She declined to answer when James Lankford, a Republican of Oklahoma, asked her. He asked again. “I’m focussed on the future,” Gabbard replied. Then Michael Bennet, a Colorado Democrat, asked her the same question—four different times. “That is not a hard question to answer when the stakes are this high!” he said at one point, but she again refused to answer. By the time Todd Young, a Republican from Indiana and a key vote on Gabbard’s nomination, asked whether Snowden had harmed American national security, he was the fourth senator to push her on the issue. “It’s notable you didn’t say yes,” Young told her. “It would befit you and be helpful to the way you are perceived to the members of the Intelligence Committee if you would at least acknowledge that the greatest whistle-blower in American history, so-called, harmed national security.”
As if the three hearings didn’t provide enough distractions, President Trump walked into the White House briefing room late on Thursday morning for a press conference on the previous night’s tragic plane crash over the Potomac, the first deadly accident involving a commercial airliner near Washington, D.C., since 2009. He read prepared remarks calling the country “one family” in the face of tragedy. Then he looked up and discarded the platitudinous talking points to bash his Democratic predecessors, air-traffic controllers themselves, and an amorphous “diversity push,” baselessly suggesting that all were somehow responsible for the crash. He said that Pete Buttigieg, the Biden Administration’s Transportation Secretary, had run the agency “right into the ground with his diversity,” and insisted that both Barack Obama and Joe Biden had rejected his proposed standards to insure that only those air-traffic controllers of the “highest intellect” could be hired. “Their policy was horrible, and their politics was even worse,” he said.
These were hardly the consoling words needed by a grieving nation. But, in the end, Trump’s performance was, perhaps, the day’s most revealing, with little of the obfuscation that came from his nominees on Capitol Hill. Trump said loud and clear what those surrounding him often try to hide on his behalf: He does not care about facts. He does not care about leading the country. He will seek political advantage in anything, even the death of sixty-seven people in a horrific accident in the second week of his Presidency.
It was hard to turn back to the confirmation hearings after listening to him. The MAGA-palooza in the Senate, after all, was but a reflection of Trump himself—these are his nominees, his choices, the fights that he has chosen to pick. He overshadowed any of the crazy or outrageous or disturbing things they had to say with his own words. Gabbard, Kennedy, and Patel are not the crisis in America set off by his reëlection, they are the consequences of it. Trump is the crisis—is, was, and will continue to be. Want to know how the next four years are going to go? Rewatch, if you can stand it, that press conference. This is it.

Their versatility allows them to serve more than a few functions from virtual signage to govern centers, and interactive kiosks.
What is a Bar Type LCD Display?
A Bar Type LCD Display in China is a widescreen reveal designed to have an extensively wider factor ratio than conventional shows, making it best for programs requiring more horizontal area. The presentations are generally inside the shape of a long, square "bar," offering a wide ranging view for facts and visuals. The element ratio often used is 32:9 or comparable, offering greater width to deal with more than one records streams or displays.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) generation, recognized for its power efficiency and clear image rendering, powers these monitors. The liquid crystals in the display are manipulated with the aid of electrical currents to provide sharp, colourful visuals which could display a variety of media such as videos, images, and actual-time information.
Key Benefits of Bar Type LCD Displays
Wide Display Area: The important gain of bar-type LCD presentations is their huge horizontal thing, which lets in for greater content material to be displayed straight away. This characteristic is especially beneficial in environments which include digital signage, in which more than one advertisement or record stream needs to be showcased concurrently.
Space Efficiency: Despite their extensive format, bar-type LCD shows are generally narrow and area-green. This makes them perfect for areas with restricted area, inclusive of airports, retail stores, or convention rooms, in which a conventional massive display screen won't in shape.
Enhanced User Experience: In environments in which visuals are important, inclusive of home theaters or gaming setups, bar-type displays provide an immersive enjoy via offering a breathtaking view. Their wide design allows for more content to be seen right away, making them ideal for widescreen movies or multitasking.

Legal Compliance 101: Navigating FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation — Managing the Overlap Between FMLA and ADA
Introduction
When it comes to managing employee leave, disability accommodations, and workplace injuries, understanding the interplay between FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation is critical for HR professionals and employers. These three legal frameworks serve different purposes but often intersect, creating complex compliance challenges.
In this guide, we’ll break down each regulation, explain how they differ, explore the overlap between FMLA and ADA, and discuss strategies to manage them effectively — all while ensuring your policies remain legally sound.
1. What is FMLA? (Family and Medical Leave Act)
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that allows eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specific family and medical reasons. It applies to employers with 50 or more employees.
Key Features of FMLA:
Provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year
Covers reasons like childbirth, serious health conditions, and care for a spouse, parent, or child
Maintains group health insurance during leave
Ensures reinstatement to the same or equivalent job upon return
2. What is ADA? (Americans with Disabilities Act)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability and requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Key Features of ADA:
Applies to employers with 15 or more employees
Focuses on long-term impairments that limit major life activities
Requires an interactive process to determine accommodations
Accommodations can include modified schedules, remote work, or job restructuring
3. What is Workers’ Compensation?
Workers’ compensation is a state-regulated insurance program that provides wage replacement and medical benefits to employees who are injured or become ill due to work-related activities.
Key Features of Workers’ Comp:
Covers injuries and illnesses directly tied to the job
Provides partial wage replacement during recovery
Includes medical care, rehabilitation, and sometimes retraining
Generally bars the employee from suing the employer
4. FMLA vs ADA: Key Differences
While FMLA and ADA both protect employees with medical issues, they have different scopes and purposes. Employers often confuse these laws, but mismanagement can lead to costly lawsuits.
Feature
FMLA
ADA
Type of Leave
Unpaid, job-protected
Reasonable accommodations, may include leave
Duration
12 weeks/year
No specific limit (as long as it’s reasonable)
Applies to
Serious health conditions
Disabilities that limit major life activities
Eligibility
1,250 hours worked, 12 months employment
No minimum time worked
5. Managing FMLA and ADA Overlap: A Compliance Challenge
When an employee exhausts FMLA leave, they may still be eligible for accommodations under the ADA. That’s where things get complicated.
For example:
Scenario: An employee takes 12 weeks of FMLA leave for a serious back injury. After 12 weeks, they still can’t return to work full-time. Now what?
Here’s where FMLA and ADA overlap management becomes essential.
How to Manage the Overlap:
After FMLA ends, assess whether the employee qualifies as disabled under the ADA.
Begin an interactive process to explore accommodations (e.g., extended leave, part-time return).
Ensure policies address transitions from FMLA to ADA accommodations.
Train HR to recognize when both laws apply.
6. Where Workers’ Compensation Fits In
If an injury is work-related, workers’ compensation may apply first. However, this doesn’t negate the employee’s rights under FMLA or ADA.
Workers’ Comp + FMLA:
FMLA leave can run concurrently with workers’ compensation leave if the injury qualifies as a serious health condition.
Workers’ Comp + ADA:
After recovery, if the injury results in permanent impairment, the employee may be entitled to ADA accommodations.
Coordination Strategy:
Coordinate benefits to avoid overlap.
