[#NOSPOILERS] HIT: The Second Case (2022) Directed by Sailesh Kolanu I watched both the "HIT" movies back to back last weekend and enjoyed them a lot! I had not seen "HIT: The First Case" when it was released a couple of years ago. The second movie was released in theatres last Friday and once I booked tickets for it (watched during @shyamla.e's visit to Hyderabad), I watched the first one on Prime (I've not watched the Hindi remake which is on Netflix). I liked the first movie a lot, it was always engaging and fast paced. The movie kept throwing a lot of information at the audience which kind of kept you alongside the protagonist in trying to solve the mystery, and it did a very good job of making the events seem convincing while still making it a commercial thriller. The same comments would apply for the sequel too! I see what the director is doing with the series, each movie is set in the same universe with overlapping characters but the lead in each movie would be different. We had Vishwak Sen as the protagonist Vikram Rudraraju in the first one set in Hyderabad, here it's Adivi Sesh as Krishna Dev (KD) in a story set in Vizag. In "The Second Case" KD and team are trying to track down a serial killer who has killed women and dismembered their bodies. The movie was efficient like the first, it wasted no time, the acting and filmmaking were nicely done. I really enjoyed it, looking forward to "The Third Case" now! This movie has an "A" rating so it allows for more violence and gore though I felt they used it in a limited but effective way. I spotted a shot of teeth in the end credits of the first film which didn't figure in that film's plot at all, it is a plot point here. Spotted the director in a couple of places as the owner of a bar. I drew Adivi Sesh as KD and his dog Max from the movie. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that if the BJP was voted into power it would rename to city of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar. The BJP leader was speaking at a rally in Goshamahal constituency in the city, along with incumbent party MLA Raja Singh. Raja Singh, known for making provocative statements, has repeatedly been booked for hate speech and inciting communal violence by the police and is the sitting MLA from Goshamahal up for reelection. ldquo;If you want to see Hyderabad transform itself into Bhagyanagar, then you should give BJP a chance. While other parties are caught up in vote bank politics, the BJP is the only party that can fearlessly focus on good governance and development. Raja Singh has represented your issues forcefully in the past four years. Now, it is time to vote him back as an MLA,rdquo; Yogi was quoted as saying. Just earlier this month, Raja Singh triggered a fresh row after he said that he would work towards renaming the city of Hyderabad as lsquo;Bhagyanagarrsquo; if the BJP was voted to power in the state in the upcoming Telangana elections. Speaking to ANI, Raja Singh said, "Earlier, Hyderabad was Bhagyanagar and in 1590 Quli Qutub Shah came to Hyderabad, he changed Bhagyanagar to Hyderabad. At that time many Hindus were attacked and many temples destroyed. We are planning to rename Hyderabad. In Telangana, BJP will win in majority and then our first aim will be developing the state and second objective will be renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. We will also change the names of Secunderabad and Karimnagar." The statement had come less than a week after Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh was renamed to Ayodhya by Yogi Adityanath, who said that the identity of the district of Faizabad was Lord Ram. The name 'Bhagyanagar' is derived from the legend of 'Bhagmati', said to be a woman dancer with whom Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, a ruler of Hyderabad in the 16th century, fell in love with. The story goes that Hyderabad was named 'Bhagyanagar' after the dancer, and when she married the king and converted to Islam, she took the name of Hyder Mahal, after which the city is presently named. However, historians often argue staunchly that this was not the case, as there is no evidence to suggest that such a queen existed in the city. However, the name 'Bhag Nagar' which translates to a city of gardens, finds a passing mention. Telangana goes to the polls on December 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 11. nbsp;

Terrifier 2 (2022) Directed by Damien Leone The "Terrifier" movies are low budget horror productions from director Damien Leone, with the villain being Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton. Art does not speak or make any sound in the movies, and I think they never show him blinking either. He mutilates and kills his victims in very brutal ways. The movies make it a point to put up as much of violence and blood as they can on screen, and get creative with the kills. All are shown in graphic detail with practical make up effects. If you like this kind of content then you will appreciate both these movies. They are not available in India officially, however, as a fluke, a couple of weekends back I found both of them uploaded on YouTube (the first is still up, the second one has since been deleted by the uploader) and watched them. They make good use of their limited budget and while they're not exactly scary, they do push the limit in terms of violence and gore, and create a sense of dread. The suspense and tension is achieved well and the quality of the production and acting is way beyond what would be expected from smaller independent movies like this. [700TH #DAILYMOVIESKETCH DRAWING • #scifinktober22 by @alberto_sting Day 15] RoboCop (1987) Directed by Paul Verhoeven This is the 700th sketch I've done for my "Daily Movie Sketch" project. For those who don't know about it, in 2016 I started an art account to post movie related sketches, for around 3 months I posted daily. Later on I still continued posting regularly, though not daily. From 2020 though, I'm only active on this @karthikabhiram account, but I've continued the numbering of sketches from the time I started, and this is number 700. It's an entry for Alberto Russo's take on Inktober, based on classic sci fi movies, and as I love this movie, it worked out well for this milestone. "RoboCop" is an excellent dystopian sci fi action movie set in the near future, with the megacorporation OCP running the police department. Cop Alex Murphy is killed in the line of duty and resurrected as a cyborg cop, a project of OCP to control crime. The smart script has a lot of humour and I love the stylised choices they made. The graphic violence and bloodshed is much appreciated, it has a superb score by Basil Poledouris, amazing makeup and special effects, and stop motion animation by Phil Tippett. Since Alberto's sketches have multiple characters from the movies, I did something similar. You have RoboCop with and without the helmet, a bit where OCP employee Kinney gets riddled with bullets by the droid ED-209 (a scene which had to be trimmed to avoid an X rating, the Director's cut reinstates these few seconds of footage). People have referenced the show "South Park" where Kenny is killed in hilariously gruesome ways in multiple episodes. Also, a small sketch of a collectible action figure. Once Upon a Deadpool (2018) Directed by David Leitch "Once Upon a Deadpool" is an alternate version of "Deadpool 2" which has the more explicit material cut out to get a PG-13 rating in the US. There is a framing story added with Deadpool narrating the movie to a captive Fred Savage. I watched this alternate cut and it was amusing but only as a novelty. The theatrically released cut is the superior version, and one would enjoy this version only if they have already seen the original. This version misses all the blood and violence and many of the jokes, which makes the film less entertaining and feel disjointed. Some of the newly added jokes are fun though. The Boys (2019-) Developed by Eric Kripke Of late I have been seeing these memes featuring The Deep from the show "The Boys", so for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2022, I thought I would draw these frames myself and make a meme template. The show is brilliant, I love it for its dark humour, the extreme violence, blood and gore and adult content. It's also very well written, especially in Season 3, I felt each episode had surprises for us and you never knew where it was going. Total Recall (1990) Directed by Paul Verhoeven "Get your ass to Mars." Yesterday (30 July) was Arnold @schwarzenegger's 75th Birthday, something which I came to know after seeing a post by @jeffvictorart, showing a set of Schwarzenegger's famous movies done in his style. So, I thought I would do a sketch myself. Initially I was thinking of drawing something from "Commando", which, around 1990/91/92 was the very first Schwarzenegger movie I watched and loved. But on looking at some reference images I thought I'd draw this instead, from "Total Recall" which is also one of my favourite Schwarzenegger movies. I've done sketches on this movie also before. This is a miniature drawing in one inch square size and an early entry for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2022. It was done with 0.5mm 4B pencil (Gelly Roll was used for the highlights in the eyes) and you can swipe to see a scan and a few other edits of the photo. I love "Total Recall" for the extreme gore and violence courtesy director Paul Verhoeven, the clever blend of action and science fiction, the amazing music score by Jerry Goldsmith, and the fact that they really made this an otherworldy adventure! The talent involved is awesome, and the movie won an Oscar for its Visual Effects. They don't make movies like they used to! These Schwarzenegger movies from the 1980s and 1990s were what I grew up with (though probably one was a bit young to be watching all that bloodshed, but never mind), and I'll always have a fondness for them. I also think one can take lessons from him on building one's confidence and having a positive attitude towards life. And the man has a shoulder exercise named after him! Fun fact: The character Sub-Zero from the "Mortal Kombat" games was named after the villain Subzero from Schwarzenegger's 1987 movie "The Running Man". Master (2021) Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj Out of Lokesh Kanagaraj's four films, this was the only one I hadn't seen, and when I saw that it was available on @primevideoin, I watched it. I liked it, though not as much as "Kaithi" and "Vikram". Nevertheless, I felt it was a good balance with the more Lokesh type elements (crime and dark violence) and the more commerical aspects for its star Vijay. Vijay Sethupathi had an amazing screen presence as the villain, so I drew him as Bhavani from the movie.
