“Israeli forces shot dead three Palestinians and wounded at least eight others early Friday during a military operation in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The military said its forces came under attack and exchanged fire with militants.”

“A person has died and 13 others have been injured in India after protests against a new army hiring plan turned violent. He died when police and protesters clashed in Secunderabad city in the southern state of Telangana on Friday. Several states have seen huge protests against the plan to hire soldiers on a fixed four-year term. Protesters say the government's plan to hire temporary soldiers will reduce their chances of getting coveted permanent military jobs, which guarantee fixed salaries and pensions.”

[POSTER FOR A FICTIONAL MOVIE] Stab: In the Multiverse (2022) Directed by Robert Rodriguez Some time ago, the fifth "Scream" movie was released, which I am yet to watch because it's not out in India yet. So I re-watched "Scream 4" and "Scream 3" recently, and enjoyed them a lot. The first "Scream" written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven brought something new to the horror genre — it was a self-aware movie, making references to the slasher genre while being a very good slasher movie itself. You would definitely have a grin on your face throughout at all the movie references, it had an engaging story with good mystery, and a good helping of blood and violence. The sequels were well made too, Wes Craven directed the first four movies, and as he passed away in 2015, the new movie was directed by Matt Bertinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The Ghostface killer from the movies is voiced by Roger L Jackson, who is also the voice for Mojo Jojo from "The Powerpuff Girls". So I had the idea to combine the two into a fictional poster. Within the "Scream" movies, "Stab" is the fictional movie series which started off being based on the lives of the characters, but then progressively became a sort of cash-grab franchise. Our first glimpse of "Stab" is in the first scene of "Scream 2", and has a recreation of the opening scene of "Scream". That footage was directed by Robert Rodriguez, and has Heather Graham as the movie version of the character Casey (Drew Barrymore in the opening scene of "Scream"). This poster combines all of the above influences. The artwork was done with multi colour ballpoint pen on A5 notebook, I scanned it and made the poster in Photoshop. It is a simple design as I am not proficient enough in Photosop to make more advanced stuff. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that if the BJP was voted into power it would rename to city of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar. The BJP leader was speaking at a rally in Goshamahal constituency in the city, along with incumbent party MLA Raja Singh. Raja Singh, known for making provocative statements, has repeatedly been booked for hate speech and inciting communal violence by the police and is the sitting MLA from Goshamahal up for reelection. ldquo;If you want to see Hyderabad transform itself into Bhagyanagar, then you should give BJP a chance. While other parties are caught up in vote bank politics, the BJP is the only party that can fearlessly focus on good governance and development. Raja Singh has represented your issues forcefully in the past four years. Now, it is time to vote him back as an MLA,rdquo; Yogi was quoted as saying. Just earlier this month, Raja Singh triggered a fresh row after he said that he would work towards renaming the city of Hyderabad as lsquo;Bhagyanagarrsquo; if the BJP was voted to power in the state in the upcoming Telangana elections. Speaking to ANI, Raja Singh said, "Earlier, Hyderabad was Bhagyanagar and in 1590 Quli Qutub Shah came to Hyderabad, he changed Bhagyanagar to Hyderabad. At that time many Hindus were attacked and many temples destroyed. We are planning to rename Hyderabad. In Telangana, BJP will win in majority and then our first aim will be developing the state and second objective will be renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. We will also change the names of Secunderabad and Karimnagar." The statement had come less than a week after Faizabad district in Uttar Pradesh was renamed to Ayodhya by Yogi Adityanath, who said that the identity of the district of Faizabad was Lord Ram. The name 'Bhagyanagar' is derived from the legend of 'Bhagmati', said to be a woman dancer with whom Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, a ruler of Hyderabad in the 16th century, fell in love with. The story goes that Hyderabad was named 'Bhagyanagar' after the dancer, and when she married the king and converted to Islam, she took the name of Hyder Mahal, after which the city is presently named. However, historians often argue staunchly that this was not the case, as there is no evidence to suggest that such a queen existed in the city. However, the name 'Bhag Nagar' which translates to a city of gardens, finds a passing mention. Telangana goes to the polls on December 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 11. nbsp;

Doomsday (2008) Directed by Neil Marshall Since the last sketch I did here was one from "Hellboy", I thought I'd revisit director Neil Marshall's earlier work, the 2008 post apocalyptic action movie "Doomsday". Taking inspiration from "Escape From New York" (there's a character named Carpenter in the movie!) and "Mad Max" (yes, there's also a character named Miller — after the directors if both those movies), this movie is about a squad of soldiers led by Eden Sinclair, who have to enter a walled-off Scotland, in hope of finding a cure to the Reaper virus, which threatens to decimate London. The movie has some good action scenes and has a good amount of blood and violence. It however was not successful when it was released. But it's well made. [#DrawWithMango × #DailyMovieSketch] Hellboy (2004) Directed by Guillermo del Toro Hellboy (2019) Directed by Neil Marshall This time, the theme for @mangopenciler's Art Challenge is #ThenAndNow. I watched "Hellboy" on Thursday, and thought, I'd do a sketch featuring both the film versions of the character. I have liked the Hellboy character since the early 2000s. When the first adaptation came out I read some of the books, and became a fan of Mike Mignola's artwork, especially his use of chiaroscuro and deep blacks. Del Toro's movies always are personal, and I enjoyed his adaptation, with Ron Perlman owning the role. The movie even had a fantastic poster by Drew Struzan. Fast forward 15 years, and we have what was supposed to be the second sequel but instead became an R rated reboot. "Stranger Things"'s David Harbour plays the role here, the world's best paranormal investigator, who is up against Milla Jovovich's villain, the Blood Queen who if she comes back to power, will unleash a new plague upon humanity. The movie is entertaining and took advantage of the R rating, providing quite a bit of blood and violence and also swearing in the dialogue. This made it a very different take from del Toro's. The movie has been getting bad reviews, I think it definitely doesn't deserve those and it's better than they indicate. I can understand the criticism though, as the movie felt very rushed, with a lot that is crammed into the runtime, with undeveloped characters. I enjoyed it though but found that it's one of those movies you won't remember much of, once you leave the theatre. I liked all the R rated stuff but got annoyed at our censors for making cuts despite giving the movie an Adult rating. Hope I'll get to see the uncut version soon. The acting was good, Harbour and Jovovich give it their all, and the action scenes were well done. So, I would recommend watching the movie.
