pretty random but i read your explanation for the Xander alphabet gifset. i don't mean to be dismissive of your post, but i feel like we (BTVS fandom) don't deserve you. like, you made this great gifset for a not-beloved but integral character, and it goes along with the rest of your alphabet gif series.... to me even if you had randomly picked them, it's still a great gifset. (and i say that as an extremely lukewarm Xander fan, like calling me a fan goes too far) but you actually put a ton of thought into it... like obvs you put a ton of care and work into picking which 18 scenes to gif, as you explain. and just...

Hi! Wow, thank you so much for saying that! 🩵 I started this meme over two years ago, and I have two sets left!! (The next set will be posted by the end of the week.) But, god. I’ve never put so much effort, work, thought and time into anything I’ve made on here. It’s my magnum opus, truly.

I don’t love or know any piece of fiction better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it’s been truly rewarding to make something like this. And I hope that shows. It’s been challenging at times, and frustrating. There’s been times when I wanted to give up or cut corners or half-ass certain letters/sets I didn’t particularly care about. But I’m proud to say I did not do that and I will not drop the ball on these last two sets, either.

It means a lot that you took the time to send this to me, because I know a lot of people don’t reblog my work because of my shipping preferences. So, if even one person other than me appreciates what has gone into this meme, it just makes it all the more worthwhile.

And I totally know it isn’t that deep or serious like this is just a string of gifsets on a silly blog, but in retrospect, all those hours I spent on this, well damn it must be pretty deep to me lol

Saw a Seinfeld gifset on my dash, reminded me of "The Card Says Moops" which is absolutely a joke Macaque and Wukong would've pulled in their haydays, Wukong starts the bullshit and Macaque instigates - the fun of their early days is how they fucking feed into each others bullshit, like, sure Macaque can temper Wukong's behavior maybe kinda sorta when the moon is right and Wukong gets Macaque out of his shell, but at the end of the day, they bolster each others bullshit.

The Card Says Moops, says Wukong, who struggles to read but can confidently sell this as a powerplay, I Dunno What Else To Tell Ya, Why Would I Be Wrong, What're You Saying, I'd Lie To You? I'm Right Behind Him And It Definitely Says Moops, says Macaque, who can enjoy being as douchey as he wants so long as Wukong starts it, You Should Get Your Eyes Checked.

They've got that 'Macaque goes "omg, Wukoooong, you can't do thaaat, we'll get in troublllle" and then Wukong does it anyway but harder because he's been encouraged to do so as Macaque has signaled he will definitely join in once it's started' dynamic. I love them being babie douchebags. I love the idea that they were terrible once they got the power to be, effectively, shitty college frat boys.

(And then, thousand and a half years later, Wukong's has his Vanities-esque maturation and Macaque's emotionally regressed to where he can do it on his own, but way meaner than he should be - "Card actually said Mips, y'know, your eyes are so fucking busted, good news is, we live in a time where you can finally get 'em fixed, not sure about you learning to read tho" with Wukong's only reasonable reply being "What in the fuck is wrong with you.")
