we found a dvd of speed racer in a free box and took it home but it was missing the actual movie disc and only had the special features disc so I still have not watched it :(

i am thinking it might be nice to have a discord server for kaiba stuff... i would be worried about it maybe becoming inactive or me not having the time to be active in it- while posting on here or insta is nice, the community feels pretty disjointed

If you're cool with me asking, but do you happen to have any other social media sites we can follow you at?
I'm realizing I spend most of my time on Tumblr with this ask,,, but I do have Bluesky (Cooler Twitter, but I use it less than Tumblr) and a Neocities site (not really social media, essentially a sporadic HTML scrapbook the way I do things).
I also do Art Fight every year if you're in those circles. And, if we're lucky, I'll be using ComicFury regularly before the end of the year, perhaps? <:3c
I have Discord, too - not hard to find, but I do tend to decline people I don't immediately recognize...

Ao3 is a much more user friendly website than the old web, and tbh probably hosts a lot more users at a time, and yeah this is funded by donations rather than ads
But like, we had websites (including a lot of fanfic archives) for ages before YouTube (started in 2005 — the internet has had websites since the early 90s), and they did not all have ads. Like…. “The good old days” when the Internet was not all ads was a real time, and you can make good points without pretending that they’ve been planning pop up ads since arpanet (1969)
Absolutely amazing how AO3 is a part of the internet that doesn't sneak in any ads and doesn't have an algorithm and doesn't watch you or record how much time you spend looking at each fic or whatever. It's just right there to use for free. Legend
#like I used to play on roleplay forums with friends which were really basic html text box spaces and they did not have ads (2008-2009)#and I can clearly remember when they added ads to FFN#and multiple other fandom sites which did not have ads#even in the mid 2000s#and again a lot of people were already online by the time those became at all viable as a place to advertise to?#the good old days fallacy only applies when we really are talking about a mythical past here….#like the old net was slow and had less users and was likely a bit cheaper to run#but it was also run by more hobbyists and less by megaplatforms which need to live on mega servers

if I had more time energy and drive, I would collect images of niraa with the brew of the month effects and then make a tier list. i am selfishly soooo upset about nanowrimo. my local nano group rebranded and now they're doing this 3 month thing from october to december, which sounds cool, but there's gonna be no momentum in november and idk. i've taken time off work for years because of nanowrimo and i was going to again this year but idk if i should even bother if there aren't going to be write-ins and stuff to go to
hopefully goes without saying that i fully support & agree with everyone abandoning the official nanowrimo org, and i have too, it's just an end of an era and now that it's almost november the loss is really sinking in
#my various writing discord servers are probably gonna do stuff#and i think the global write-in crawl is still gonna happen afaik? they did something earlier this year#but idk i've had so much fun at irl write-ins since moving to new york and now it looks like that's not gonna happen :\#last year a group of us literally took our laptops to the met to write and it was so fun :(#no matter what i AM gonna (attempt to) write 50k in november#i've been doing this since 2008 i'm not about to stop now just bc the org is shitty#m.txt
