"Don't just throw ripped jeans away, you can repair them using these 10 cute Visible Mending techniques!!" unfortunately my friend the first point of failure for every single pair of jeans i have owned in my life has been the Crotch and Ass. Knees: fine, cuffs: fine; but 3 years in, and all that stands between the world and my astronaut-patterned taint is 0.5µm of denim worn so thin that every squat threatens to tear it to shreds like wet toilet paper. If the Tiktok craft community could figure out a way to resurrect jeans afflicted in such a way that doesn't involve adding a whole ass buttpatch like some sort of inverse assless chaps situation then that'd be great

My partner (being 6'5") has a hard time finding clothes that fit him, so he often gets stuff that doesn't quite fit and it breaks. This happens a lot with the crotch area of pants.
I had a pile of PJ pants to mend for him, and finally got around to it. Since he only wears this around the home, the repair doesn't need to be pretty, just functional.
I found a scrap of similar fabric larger than the hole, and pinned it inside the pants. At the sewing machine, I used a zigzag stitch around the perimeter of the patch to both secure the raw edges of the scrap, and allow for a bit of stretch and movement in this area of the garment.
Then I flipped the pants right-side out and zigzagged around the edges of the hole. I made at least two rounds to make sure the patch and pants would be well bonded. I also stitched over areas that looked like they'd benefit from extra reinforcing. On one pair, I found another smaller hole so I did that one as well.
For thread--again, these are pants that nobody but us us will probably see (in person, I mean). So I picked a strong thread in a colour I was least likely to use. That ended up being Glide trilobal polyester in "Vegas Gold".
Only later did I realise ... this maybe wasn't a great look.

But at least they're functional pants again!

Sewed an inside pocket into my denim jacket, using an old pair of jeans
Tumblr media
I created that smaller pocket from scraps because the actual back pockets were riveted and i couldn't uppop it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the big pocket goes all the way to the seam at the bottom so it can hold lots of stuff :3
The seams are almost invisible but theres a bit of a raggedy bit by the bottom of the jacket which is fine because it'll be hidden nicely bc i intend to dip dye the bottom bit black at some point

I thought id give my hand at designing Rise Hoodies. I catered these to my style, more on the DL that they are ninja turtle designs. But still enough that if ya know, ya know.

Each has an accessory, because i do too
Leo: had the fanny pack across the chest, it resembles his waist pouches and sword strap.
Donnie: had a backpack that looks like his battle shell, it even has a strap to hold headphones
Raph: I couldnt decide which one to go with so he gets three options lol. Either those built in thumb hole sleeves, leather fingerless gloves, or fabric fingerless gloves.
Mikey: Mikey gets a built in face mask/covering. Gotta protect your identity when graffitiing and running from the cops- I mean to protect against illness….

SEWING PEOPLE HELP ME!!! IVE NEVER USED A SEWING MACHINE BEFORE AND I DESPERATELY NEED TO START WORKING ON MY GIFTS FOR PEOPLE!!!
My thread does the first few stitches but gets eaten into under the needle as I go? The tension is fine, I’m doing slow, but as I see the thread on the other end that I’ve already stitched gets shorter and shorter before falling out? I think it’s getting tied up with the bobbin under the needle. Took it out and it was in a huge knot with the bobbin. How to fix? Causes my sewing machine to jam and get stuck.

So....our Dressmaking Batch 97 got to participate in a pagent, Mr & Ms Technowear 2024 for TIIC (Technical Institute of Iloilo City)'s 30th Foundation day.
✨And we got to do 2 lewks, Streetwear and Technowear.✨
While trying to figure out what we were going to do, we raided the fitting room (stockroom) and found a whole bunch of Retazo (hiliganon for scrapped fabric) from previous projects of batches before us. And it just so happens we were asigned the color 💚Green💚 for our team. Green = Nature = lots of fabric flowers. And to make it easier for us, we raided our closets and a few thrift stores for garments to upcycle and ofc every crafter has a few knickknacks to embellish with!!!!

recently i was gifted a t-shirt that reads “im just a girl 🎀” but its xxl and im about five foot NOTHING so im absolutely swimming in it but!! ive been looking up tutorials so i can cut it up and make it into a tie-back halter top!!

More scrappy patch experiments
Including plasters for holey clothing? Haven't decided whether it's actually practical yet but they're very cute
(The house isn't finished yet but I ran out of thread)

True to character, the Luthien design is beautiful and was a real pain in the butt.
