Jem and Will

Jem is literally the sweetest, most patient, most understanding guy ever. Will puts up this facade of seeming like a jerk or being angry all the time so that no one will love him (so that no one will die), and Jem just deals with it, knowing that something is going on in Will's mind. Will always called Jem "his greatest sin" and Jem always said "Will couldn't have faith in himself, so I had faith for him" AND IF THAT IS NOT BEST FRIEND BEHAVOIR I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT. THE SIN/FAITH COMPARISON GETS ME EVERYTIME. They both named their first borns after eachother (James Herondale and Whilamina Carstairs). Jem ends up becoming immortal for a while for reasons, and even 150 years later he says he still thinks of Will everyday. Jem also literally took up a quest that took him roughly 100 years to complete for Will.

Jem is the only person Will allows himself to be close to, for complicated reasons explained in the book (Long story short: Will thinks he's cursed so that anyone that loves him will die. Jem is already dying from a posion so if Jem dies it won't be Will's fault.). They met when they were young, and they chose to literally swear themselves to each other in the form becoming Parabatai, which are like, warrior pairs of best friends.

Okay so they have this thing called parabatai which is like platonic soul marriage and Jem kept Will alive for years and even though wills been dead for decades Jem still thinks about him every day:(

Realizes that Tiana and Prince Naveen are in love and offers to help break the curse no strings attached even tho all she’s ever wanted was to marry a prince

Couple pages of nearly finishing the second book for shadowhunters, mortal instrument, and I don’t know if I should continue ?? Like, I’ll probably finish it but I don’t know if I want to read the third because the stuff between Clary & Jace just make me want to vomit.

Like I get it, you guys had a thing but your siblings ??? If I had found out my boyfriend was actually my brother I think I would had been so sick that’ll look at him again, while there still fighting with the internal shit ??? Clary, girl, your dating best boy Simon and you wanna date your brother preferably ??? You’ve known Simon since you were like 3 and you barely known Jace for a year (at this point).

I know at the end they turn out to not be siblings by the end but STILL.

Also, the fact Clary is one of those “I’m only friends with boys because I can’t get along with girls because they make me jealous OwO” gets old real quick.

I’m sorry, but Simon is my favourite and they treat him like dog shit. Like PLEASE. He didn’t need to become a vampire my guy, let him be the awkward ass human or the group that learns to adapt to the whole monster world, that would of been better. Simon gets the short end and I’m sick of IT.

Anyway, that’s my thoughts on this shit-show. Haven’t read the second one in a hot minute but my mind still stands.

my biggest issue with chain of thorns is that we're told about some big/emotional events but we don't get to see them...

oh! will and tessa cried when they found out their kids were trapped in london! right after finding out their nephew died. but you won't get to read this scene

gabriel and cecily's son died! and they found out when his body was brought to them! but you won't get to read that scene!

will and tessa found out about the gracelet and were upset. but you won't get to read that.

charles confronted bridgestock and came out to the entire enclave in a very brave and dramatic way! but you won't get to read that!

like??? we had to suffer through 300 pages of a bullshit love triangle (i refuse to believe people honestly thought herondaisy won't be canon) but we couldn't get some genuinely important moments???

Also let me say before I finish chain of thorns my theory for the family tree so I can see if I'm right by the end

MAJOR SHADOWHUNTERS SPOILERS FOR ALL THE BOOKS

Alright so first of all the family tree makes a circle so that's fucked up and I've made a TikTok and YouTube video about this (I haven't uploaded the YouTube video as of yet) but Cordelia is dark skin, dark eyes and has fiery red hair, James is dark eyes, place skin, dark hair. Every single herondale they produce though is fair and blonde and they have green and gold eyes. Who else their age is fair and blonde with green eyes that occasionally look gold? Matthew. Matthew and Cordelia are going to produce Owen herondale but Cordelia and James are going to raise it as their own. Maybe Matthew dies or maybe he marries someone else, because it is unclear whether Clary comes from Matthew or Charles on the tree. But anyway maybe Cordelia and Matthew have Owen and James dies but everyone assumes it was James who fathered him. Either way, I believe the herondales are truly of Fairchild fathering.
