send 👫 for some headcanons i have about our muse's relationship.

lost on you ... kelly has always known leslie was a lesbian. but that didn't stop his heart from getting attached to her in a way that made it hard for him to be serious about anyone else. he's always been a little in love with her, even if he knew he never stood a chance. a classical kelly move, really. shay just happens to be his ideal woman for years after meeting her.

starting a family ... at first when shay mentions wanting kelly's help to make a baby, his initial reaction was to laugh. it was a crazy idea right? but then again, he'd already offered to help out once her baby was there. he couldn't see her moving out of their place, not even after having a baby - and especially not on her own. they were family, and leaving shay to fend for herself and her brand new baby just felt wrong. but kelly struggled to see himself as a father, seeing that he never really had a present one in his own life - shay convinces him pretty easily though, it takes him about one single twenty four hour shift before he realizes that if he's doing it with anyone ... why not his best friend?

making baby shayveride ... leslie's family pays for the first round of ivf, which doesn't take. but that's when kelly looks into other insurances, finding one that does cover ivf. so he signs up, paying extra - but it didn't matter. he was giving shay a baby. so they do two more tries, and the third one sticks. making their blonde baby girl daughter shay severide. and suddenly, kelly has a love like none he'd ever experienced before. he was a dad now. with his best friend ... and her girlfriend. the four of them making their own little family.

when two becomes four ... during shay's pregnancy, she starts dating becca dawson - and yeah, the first while kelly was nervous where his place would be with his family with someone else in the picture - it wasn't the most conventional family ... but he quickly learns to manage that anxiety and while it still comes to surface every now and then during the pregnancy - shay does everything to include kelly in every appointment and milestone - and the anxiety completely goes away when baby shay is born.

a new house ... a new home ... the new family end up finding a two story house with a basement. kelly's other best friend, matt casey, helps renovate the basement so it's livable. a nice sized bedroom, a kitchenette, a small living room and a bar area with stools to sit on. this is where kelly lives - joined by stella kidd later. while leslie, becca and shay are all on first floor. there's stairs on the inside of the house connecting the two stories, so shay always has access to all her parents. and family dinners are almost every night - in leslie and bex's kitchen / dining room.

So this made me rewatch 1x17 & now I need someone to make a gifset of Kelly's face when Shay said she wanted to have a baby with Stella's face from 12x13. They are basically the same person in some aspects that it's actually insane.

One Chicago Rewatch Recap

So I recently decided I wanted to do a full rewatch of Chicago Fire, PD, and Med because it's been a while since I initially started watching all of these shows back in 2021. I just finished season 1 of Fire and I have so many thoughts: *Peter Mills! I completely forgot that he existed but I remember the first time watching it not liking him? But I can't remember why because so far he's great. *Shayveride having the most wholesome friendship hits so much different now *On that note, I really wish they would've been able to have a baby together, I think it would be so cool to see Kelly with a 10ish year old now in the current seasons. *Otis :( *Everyone looks so young!!! *What was the reason for the show to introduce Jimmy, Boden's stepson, only for him to never be mentioned or talked about ever again *Herrmann and Cindy being the original wholesome power couple in the franchise god I love them *I've never been a Dawsey shipper but I love the pining and tension between them in season 1 *Voight being the main antagonist for the first half of this season is so funny to me. The way his character is written is just *chefs kiss* *Also the entire PD backdoor pilot episode is incredible (and so was Meds if I'm remembering correctly) *Scott Eastwood just. randomly being in a few episodes of this franchise sends me *I honestly forgot about the Molly's storyline so when Herrmann didn't just own a bar from the beginning I was a little confused *I completely forgot that Joe Cruz just straight up abandons a civilian (Flaco the gang member) in a burning building and then announces that the floor is cleared but it made me CACKLE I will always ride at dawn for Joe Cruz, if Joe Cruz has 0 fans I'm dead Overall I love this season and it's nice to see how exciting the shows used to be with the original cast and everything. I do think out of all three shows, Fire has done the best job at staying consistently good and entertaining (although the arson investigation storylines are starting to drive me up the wall) Anyway I plan on doing these little updates whenever something major happens or at least once for the end of each show's season. Also if anyone is interested in a really helpful tool to watch all of these episodes in the proper order there's an amazing spreadsheet with all of the info on it that is kept up to date.
