Worst thing about being sick is the stark realization that I'm not just a mind sitting inside a body, but extremely dependent upon the body and inseparable from it. Brain can't focus, brain can't do the cognition thing, I'm at the mercy of self-defense systems that I don't particularly understand fighting battles with things I can't see, and probably doing it pretty poorly.

When I was a teenager I was really into transhumanism, I think because it offered this hypothetical release valve, a way to escape the body as it started to fail, to replace parts that didn't work and achieve something closer to being the idealized mind that's not so dependent on the weak flesh.

And twenty-five years later, I think I've come to accept that it's just never going to happen in my lifetime, that the flesh is probably all I'll ever be. So I cough and say to the body, which is me, "hey, we'll get through this", and the body gurgles and trembles in response, unaware.

1)

would a zombie virus infection rate be sped up or slowed down by increased humidity and warmth? Like if you’re living in an area that is perpetually damp and hot, do the zombie rot quicker thereby making them less of a threat as the virus has less of a body to puppet, or does it spread faster as we know that most bacteria and presumably also this unknown virus love heat and moisture to grow…..

is the virus transferable via any exchange or contact with infected bodily fluid? (Eg. spit, blood smears, sweat etc) and if so, how much cling wrap do you need to survive?

Wheelie Bins. think about it people, wheelie bins are the ultimate apocalypse survival tool.

Growing root veggies?

Do it in a wheelie bin.

Need to transport someone injured?

Put em’ in the wheelie bin.

Transporting large amounts of flammable liquid to long-distance fend off zombies?

what if the virus infects water too? How do you/is it possible to distill/sterilise it and what are the consequences if not?

can zombies hear? How many non-physical brain functions (hearing, smelling, tasting, higher cognitive abilities, problem solving etc) does the virus maintain as functioning and for how long?

How long can the virus puppet a body before the decay makes it unusable?

why try to find a cure when you have the winning options of extreme heat or extreme cold to essentially kill the virus by taking it out of its preferred temperatures? Virus’ are bacteria and bacteria likes warm, moist and dark spots. Eradicate these factors in an isolated area that you lure your offending zombies too and bada bing you have successfully neutralised the virus, possibly (if the apocalypse is rated below a PG-13) saving your loved ones!
