Balance is very important in the Egyptian pathogen. Just look at the judgment scene, if the intention is not balanced with the actions, the soul of the deceased is lost. That means they can’t find their way home. 🏡

making a new post for this bc it felt a bit tmi to add to the tags of the last one lmao, but back when I used to shave my armpits they would constantly be irritated and itchy and far more sweaty (like I'd have visible pit stains every day on top of just always feeling damp and gross under my arms) and deodorant would fade much faster bc it would literally just slide off?? but when I stopped doing that, which was like 10 years ago now or more, ALL of those problems just completely went away. they never itch or get rashes or anything ever since, and deodorant started lasting all day easily. so I know first hand that its complete bs whenever people try to say shaving is necessary for hygeine or skincare or to reduce sweat or smell. like if it wasn't already clear from the fact that men aren't pressured to do the same (when they tend to sweat more overall as well?)

judgment night theory to explain something that bothered me upon watching the film. there will be spoilers

i think maybe the real reason fallon pursues the four protags has very little to do with teddy's murder and everything to do with class warfare. when fallon and co catch teddy, they have every opportunity to do as they please with him. the guy is probably 100 pounds soaking wet and fallon's got a stronger guy on either side of him. they don't have to kill him right then and there: ergo, there doesn't have to be anyone around to witness it. fallon, who is obviously aware of the rv's presence, could have easily gone over and tried turning up the charm to convince the middle class pricks that there was nothing to worry about, just a business misunderstanding, but everyone's cool here now and they should be on their merry way. the crew probably would have jumped at the opportunity, seeing that teddy is safe at least for the moment. then, once they've peeled out, fallon can cap teddy, brush off his hands, and call it a successful day now that he's got his money back and only one body to clean up

BUT! the OTHER thing that fallon already knows is that these guys are, in fact, middle class pricks, because he saw their license plate showing that they're from a nice area. so potentially, he figured that if he doesn't waste any time with teddy and gets the job done while the pricks are watching, that activates his "no witnesses" rule and gives him a fair cause (or, y'know, "fair" by his standards, anyway) to hunt and kill them. this plays into the film's larger overall commentary about tensions between the lower and middle classes in u.s. cities, something which plays out particularly in fallon's interactions with the four and especially frank. as the film goes on, we see fallon become almost obsessed with frank, constantly revisiting the info he has about the man from looking through his wallet and using it as a means of berating and emasculating him. part of that is a dick-measuring competition, but even that competition is a factor in the class commentary; fallon asserts that frank's comfortable lifestyle makes him less of a man than someone who makes a living on the harsh and unforgiving streets like himself

this idea also explains why fallon is willing to effectively break the same rule he uses to justify all of this. throughout the movie, he creates a whole lot of witnesses in the process of pursuing the four. not necessarily witnesses to murder, but certainly to plenty of other crimes, all while brandishing his gun proudly. also, because the cops are established to not give a shit about the people living in the projects the film takes place in, fallon doesn't really have any need to worry that he'll be busted for any of this stuff even if the four did rat to the authorities. none of it follows the internal logic upon which fallon's rules would seem to suggest he is operating. i think instead he is acting on the bitterness of someone who has it hard seeing people who have always had it easy entering his territory and fucking with his business, and that's why he pursues them doggedly right until the end

AHH I just meant that while rivelia is a popular specialist/specialist ship (maybe the most popular one actually?), it's often liked from a very... fanon perspective. People really enjoy the Angry Red Character and Calm Pacifist Blue Character trope (i do too!) but in canon rivelia just isn't really like that? At least, not to the extent that people usually think of them in fanon.

People often focus on that dynamic of angry/calm for rivelia when there's a lot there that can be really interesting! Like Riven's dislike and distrust of Helia at first actually being residual feelings of dislike of Sky (and assuming that Helia would be another Sky). Or how Helia never disliked Riven, even when he was being a little bitch to him! Or how Riven understands Helia's more negative feelings in ways that even Flora sometimes doesn't. Or Helia being able to express annoyance with Riven without Riven considering it a personal attack or challenge like he still does with some of the others. Or Riven still getting really worried when Helia does dangerous shit on missions (in a way that he really doesn't get with the other guys). Or Helia always being a quiet comfort for Riven and being there when he wants to vent.

There's just... a lot that goes into their friendship that people often miss because they end up focusing a lot more on the angry/calm or fighter/pacifist dynamics. And like,,, there's nothing inherently wrong with that don't get me wrong, but I wish there was more rivelia content that was based on their canon relationship! I think riven/nabu (rivbu? naven... ??) also gets that fanon treatment of angry/calm when again, so much more goes into their friendship! But for rivelia specifically, they just have a lot of potential as a pairing (platonically and romantically) but so much of it gets missed out on :(
