01. Hair: I usually like to use vanilla hair, but I'm obsessed with the hairs by @rustys-cc. I have to control myself to not use them on every single Sim! They just look good on everyone!

02. Skinblend: Not to toot my own horn, but I'm still using my own skinblend, especially after @missrubybird released their default version of my other favorite skin, Pufferfish. It's so beautiful, and I love how both pair together!

03. Moles: If I don't control myself, every single sim will have face moles lol. I love them and I think they add personality to my sims. My all-time favorite is this amazing pack by @vegantrait. You can create your own combinations or have only a single mole!

04. Face Details: I'm a huge believer in face details, lol. I think that's why I don't have many skinblends in my folder. I like the flexibility to choose and create unique Sims every time. My current favorite one is the Face Detail 02 by @miikocc.

05. Face Definition: It has to be the one by @nesurii. I literally use this ALL THE TIME. It totally changed the way I make my Sims! I'm totally addicted to it. That's it.

06. Face Shine: @frenchiesimgirl has the best ones! I love to use this one on my more glamorous Sims to enhance the expensive skincare they might be using. 💅💅

07. Eyebrows: I don't have one eyebrow specifically, but I have ALL eyebrows by @goppolsme. Ever since I started using them, I deleted all my other brows. It's honestly true love. I love how they look so much!

08. Eyeshadow: I never believed someone could overcome the Neutrals Palette supremacy, but of course, @crypticsim came and beat his own game with the Channel Surfing Collection. I use both Selfish and Default all the time

09. Eyes & Catchlight: Once again, @missrubybird holds the supremacy in my default folders, and I use their Aqua Trigger Eyes nonstop for almost three years now! I love them so much that I also use the Non-Default versions! I always pair it with @pyxiidis In Out Talons Catchlight!

10. Eyelashes: Kijiko 3D Eyelashes - but I'm obsessed with the Historian Recolor by @anxiousmoodlet. I definitely use it more than the original!

11. Lips: I have a few favorite lips, but the newest one is the Suga Lips by @xurbansimsx. I love all of her lips - I recommend them all!

Extra: Nails! I cannot express the emotional attachment I have with these nails by @xurbansimsx. They look so good and so natural. I'm in love with them! I totally wish she releases more colors... maybe something to match Lamatise's Bare Skintones... *wink* *wink*

I love this question! Actually, I had to think about it a bit, but I think I have an answer!

What I use most of all are hairstyles. And I particularly love the ones from @twisted-cat. I always have to be careful not to give every Sim in my game the same hairstyles 😄

And speaking of TwistedCat, I love the lipsticks. I use them on almost every sim because the quality is fantastic!

And in terms of clothes, my Sim closet is dominated by @sentate. The dresses are so beautiful, almost every one of my Sims wears something from this creator as formal wear.

I'll choose Cynthia Vanderburg for this one! Not that she's the only one of my sims who has obscure things hidden in her closet, but it was the first one that came to mind.

I don't know if this can be considered as something incredibly obscure, but it's a secret Cynthia has kept for quite some time. Shortly before she married Terence Cho, she found out she was pregnant, but as soon as she found out she panicked and ran to the hospital to terminate her pregnancy. She didn't say anything to Terry before or after, out of fear that he would be angry with her, plus, she didn't know at the time who the baby's father was. Now she does, but I'm not going to tell you in order not to spoil it for you any more than I probably already did with this post. 😉

I'll start with the caveat that the newer expansion packs have recently gone up $20 in my neck of the woods (and they've cheekily put the prices of Horse Ranch and For Rent up as well as Lovestruck). So that is causing me to judge the newer expansion packs very harshly in comparison to when they were $50 full price.

That said:

Enough

Seasons, even thought it doesn't come with a world. It adds so so much to gameplay and is my first expansion pack to rec to anyone, unless they're mostly or purely focused on builds.

Focusing more on packs that have worlds: Get Together and City Living. I would actually pay what is now the full pack price of $70 for them as well as Seasons. Less so City Living, but only marginally. Both worlds feel full and have vibrant, memorable townies, and like actual places that I could take a loading screen to. Even if my gameplay isn't based in San Myshuno - or in a city at all - my sims usually go to at least one festival or participate in karaoke night. And now that I've learned how to use it properly, the "clubs" function in Get Together is such a great quality-of-life gameplay mechanic.

Henford-on-Bagley is a really good example of a less urban world that still feels inhabited, but more on that below. Mt. Komorebi, while Snowy Escape isn't a favourite pack or an essential, likewise feels just populated enough and like there's enough to do/variety to justify its price. It serves exactly what its premise set out to be. I also appreciate the representation of Japanese culture - and was really hoping For Rent would be much the same.

Growing Together... could have possibly done with a couple more lots and families, especially considering the focus on generational gameplay. Where are the senior citizens who have major Bingo beef with each other? But the gameplay does add a decent amount, and the CAS and Build items are nice enough to give base game a refresh if that's the only expansion pack you have. And I couldn't really group it below, considering the packs that I did.

Needed More

I agree with @changingplumbob in that some of the newer worlds simply don't feel large and/or inhabited enough. Horse Ranch would have actually been a good size to me if only it had a couple more residential lots and a few more townies that came with it, just to make it feel more populated. Though I get that it's vast and not as densely populated as San My and Windenburg, given that they're city worlds and horsies need a lot of space to roam.

(Henford-on-Bagley in my mind is a great example of a rural pack that still feels populated, 'just busy enough' and with a sense of community. Chestnut Ridge is almost there though! It just needed some more fleshed out events and to have more townies who aren't overtly Island Living folks wandering around.)

Tomarang though? What a waste of potential. Only two neighbourhoods inhabited and the world - while gorgeous - feels so empty when my Sims are wandering around it. It's the only SEA world we have and it's a real shame that there's not a third proper neighbourhood and that some of its ideas are actually really interesting (like the tiger sanctuary) but rather flimsily executed.

(This is in comparison to Jungle Adventure - a gameplay pack where you can actually explore the hidden temples...)

In terms of earlier city worlds, while I appreciate that it came with a decent amount of townies (and a lot of gameplay options if you're into its concept), Del Sol Valley could have definitely done with more lots. Since it's based on LA and the pack came out after City Living, an apartment block or two for all the struggling actor types would have been a nice touch. If you're someone who enjoys playing with the pack mechanics though, I will say there's a good amount of gameplay there. I think in that respect it's definitely worth the price more than the three most recent expansion packs - it's just not quite my thing.

Get To Work and Magnolia Promenade I'd probably group with Get Famous and Del Sol Valley. It gives a reasonable quantity of gameplay if you use it, but it really needed more than four lots. If it's the retail world, at least give us a mall or something. That could have been such a fun concept to play with. Also some rival business empires?

(I didn't talk about Lovestruck because I don't have the pack. But from what gameplay I've seen - and what I've heard from people who usually have pretty balanced takes on packs - I'd probably group it with For Rent.)

@buttertrait - max and I are always bouncing ideas off each other for literally everything 😅 we talk about our ocs a ton and it always inspires me to add more and more lore to their stories! not to mention their sims are so so cute <3

@aurorangen - I started following rory really early on in this blog and her postcard legacy has inspired me SO much! we actually talked about this a while ago but her adding dialogue was what made me get brave enough to! I was super nervous about it being awkward at first and I still am sometimes but I think I'm better about it now 😭

@duusheen - same situation with rory! I started following du really early on and their legacy has been such a huge inspiration to me!! their pictures are always so gorgeous and she really makes me want to experiment more with mine!

@venriliz - her renders are phenomenal and I can only dream of someday being that talented with blender 😭 I've been really wanting to get back into making renders soon, there are so many ideas I've had forever but have been putting off and her renders are really making me want to get back into it

SQOTD Time!! ~ @simblr-question-of-the-day ~

Platforms I started off as a PC Player when I was around 4-5 years old, starting with Sims games and a lot of game websites (Friv FTW!!), but as I got older (around fifth grade), I got my own phone! So I was a mobile player for a LONGGG while (esp. since we've never had the money to buy me a gaming laptop), and I'd play a lot of CoD mobile, Minecraft, Genshin impact, and Ark mobile (ik theres more but idr them 🧍‍♂️), It wasn't until last year that I got my gaming laptop AND Xbox Series S, So i've been primarily PC Player and occasionally a Console Player

Genres Idk tbh 😭 I never really keep track of the genres I play, but I guess Action, Adventure/Survival and Simulation games? I also really enjoy games with story (despite me being shit at remembering story and having a terrible attention span) and games that are endless/have an ending but let you keep playing after the end (idk what genre that'd be but ye)

In my mind, Papa and his family (cousins & aunt) are from Memphis (or my sims world equivalent). He's since moved from his hometown so his accent isn't as strong as it used to be (that lil southern twang is definitely still there tho) but you can still catch him adding an extra "R" to specific words; Refruse (refuse), Frew (Few). And when he's got some liquor in his system, he'll hit you with a lil' slurred ass "Aye Mane, Say Mane" in a heartbeat 🤣

However, his cousin TJ, if you listen to GloRilla talk...that's all her. Especially that raspiness when she raps. Yup! That's all TJ from the sound to the way she pronounces her words.

📩 Simblr question of the day: are there any of your sims ocs that existed in another story/medium before they were sims? @simblr-question-of-the-day

Answering an older question because - yes! Sax appeared in a dream I had about 15 years ago! I was so fascinated by his character that I started writing about him to try and learn more. He's been living in my brain for a long, long time. I've made several attempts to write a novel about him; the latest version stands at around 40,000 words.

When I first got Sims 4 three years ago, I made him and the other characters from the 'novel' and built their little cottage. At first I just had fun staging screenshots and watching them interact, while posting my pictures on Instagram, but a friend and storyteller gently nudged me into trying my hand at Sims storytelling. Back then I knew very little about CC, only had two packs, and couldn't make my own poses or edit, so the Sims story quickly deviated from Saxen's original story and became its own thing that fit within my constraints at the time. I like to think of them like Howl's Moving Castle the book vs. the movie: same characters, same setting, but (mostly) different plots. 😅

Discovering Sims storytelling has been amazing for me, because I used to be such a perfectionist. I've never published or even finished a story because it was never good enough - I'd always scrap it before the end and start over. But three years later, I'm nearing the end of this Sims story, and although I know it's FULL of holes and bad writing I've genuinely enjoyed every second of it. I've allowed myself to suck at something and that also means I've learned how to improve. And I've met so many wonderful people due to it, too!

Oh. You betcha. Though I would say the way my story is written, there are 3 types of characters.

-Main

-Seconday

-Contextual background

Then you have the one offs, if you want to count them as a 4th type.

My main character is Orion. He's the main protagonist. Tyler is also a protagonist that near equates to Orion's role, as both of them start their separate ways and eventually converge to the point where you rarely don't see them together. A bit of a teaser, really as they have gotten somewhat close in the story already but it'll expand later on.

As for the character that comes in and steals the show.... Well. It's a secret. 🫣 Is it a character that's already been introduced? Yes. Will it spoil a whole lot of my next few arcs if I say? YES!

But, I love this character with my entire body and I had to have them in the spotlight... They may have changed a lot of what the original mental outline was for Trench.

Who could it possibly be? 😌
