simeon ( at least past like age 22-25 verse dependent ) is so initially repulsed ( read : terrified, actually, because deep down he does want it but he rejects the idea ) by the idea of somebody knowing him romantically ( knowing him in any way but this is particularly scary ) OR the idea of rejection OR worse yet the idea that somebody will get to know him that deeply and THEN reject what they see that he will do whatever he can to avoid admitting he’s experiencing like Actual Romantic Feelings for somebody, including : pretending it’s just how everyone definitely feels about all their good buddies, deciding to interpret the incredibly strong feelings as Burning Hatred instead, bending over backwards to avoid physical contact with somebody he's hopelessly into if they haven't been physical previously because even a brush of the fingers makes him feel A Way and we can’t have that—
