The Sims 2 - Wall Hanging Decor Recolors Database

Hi! Finally sharing this with you. It's a recolor database for the wall hanging decor from The Sims 2. It first started as a website, but I couldn't keep up, so I made a Google Sheet. It's far from done, however, this is were I ask you to help me fill this up!

As we are in testing period and it took me a lot of effort to do this, I will start asking for help with a Google form, and later on, I will open the sheet to the public so everyone can edit it (I could do this from the beginning but I'm afraid someone might vandalize it 😭).

To my fellow 4t2 CAS converters and conversion enjoyers…

I updated the 4t2 CAS Archive (by @mdpthatsme) to include the newest Creator Kits (Sweet Slumber Party and Business Chic).

I added them to the already existing "Fashion Kits" sheet (the clothes I mean) since I figured they belong to the same type of content, however they seem to have their own new prefix (eg. "SP56 CK001" is the one for Sweet Slumber Party, and yes it is that long), so I wonder if they should go into their own sheet altogether?

Lmk if that makes sense! If you ever find this post lol

Unrelated side note: the fact the "CK" prefix bit starts with a three digit format leads me to believe they are going to pump out a crap tone of these types of DLCs in the future 😂 Either that, or EA realized that a two digit format was a bad decision on their part whenever they started counting, since they're already on their 62th SP/Kit.

Sims 2 Painting Sizes Database

I made this table for myself because it was taking me too much time to find a good mesh to put my images on each time, and then editing them to fit. It turned out very useful, so I'm sharing this as a spreadsheet. Like the Hair Database, other people are welcome to add information about custom content meshes. It includes the information about the Maxis paintings, that I took from @simlili's blog post, which is how it all started. She made an excellent post about it, I just wanted it arranged in a table. I also added a few more cc measurements by now. There are about 70 items there so far. How it works: Items are arranged by size in pixels, width first then height. For each painting I added it's ratio of W:H, this way I could quickly search for appropriate meshes throughout the database. No need to figure out if a 256x130 mesh is as good as a 170x98.. There's more basic info about each item, a link to its picture, and maybe some notes about recoloring it. I've put a link there to Simlili's post for more info by her.

I've added a place at the end where people can contribute information about custom content, and hopefully the database will be more extensive. I haven't seen this done before, if there is one I'd like to know about it. Hope you'll find it useful, have fun!

Sims 2 female defaults dump

Hey ya'll,

So to celebrate my fabulous new pink-free simming experience, I decided to make a new Downloads folder, lol. Starting with CAS, I started getting myself some defaults for all the things, and since I recently learned how to make defaults for myself, I... uh... may have gotten a little carried away and made a few.

Some of these outfits may already exist as defaults for different things, I don't know, I was just making stuff that suited my folder and thought I'd share it with ya'll. So here you go!

Everyday defaults:

'absentminded_whereamI" should have effects for hydrophobes, Eco-Friendly, and Absent-Minded Sims will "forget" that you told them to get clean! CHOOSE ONE depending on if you use PicknMix's shared showering or not.

GUID Database Revival

I've finished setting up a way to revive the GUID database, albeit not an automatic one, it is low-key, but rather simple. Instructions are on the pinned post. [It's a Dreamwidth community, basically one webpage where people can dump their GUID info, straight from Excel or a list].

It is searchable with multi search add-ons for browser. Search for multiple entries in one go.

Avoid conflicts with originally registered GUIDs (Not foolproof; assuming GUIDs where assigned in a certain way).

Avoid conflicts with new random GUIDs (that are in the DB).

Creators are indexed - see if your favorite active creators are on there.

The Sims 2 Default Clothing Spreadsheet, now with images!

It's done! I'm finally sharing with you my version of @pleasantsims's Sims Default Clothing Spreadsheet, but with added images for your eye convenience! All credits go to Cindy, of course, and the pictures were taken from the Default Database.

hiii sorry if youve gotten this question b4 but can i ask how youre playing sims 2? i know that theres ways to download it these days since u cant buy it anymore...but i dont know how trustworthy any of those options are lol its confusing! i love your little sims posts i think theyre so awesome theyre whats making me want to try the game out myself :D

r/sims2help's wiki guide is really good, I would highly recommend using the web installer they link it makes it piss easy. I've installed the game using both the web installer and the g4tw torrent and the web installer is better lol. I've never had good luck with graphicsrulemaker though so u may have to go in and edit that file yourself (fixes the game not recognizing that ur gpu usnt a piece a 2004 shit basically)

I really recommend using lazyduchess's RPC launcher as well, the web installer will download it for you as an option. It fixes an important bug relating to sim genetics and fixes sim shadows without the need for a separate mod. There's quite a few other options too but I don't use them (like high quality lot imposters. crashes my game lol)

If you have an AMD graphics card, you may experience really long start times for your game (like itll show up in task manager for 10 minutes before actually launching) so like. DON'T panic i had this issue lol. You'll want to follow this guide to installing dxvk just don't install it if ur not having #problems bc it does have some tradeoffs.

I think that should be pretty much it as far as getting the game to run goes, there's a few mods that you'll want to have but I really would not worry about it until you know you're gonna be playing this game for a While bc some of their setups are really fucking annoying (clean neighborhood templates...)

Something for any sims 2 newbies who might stumble upon my tumblr. This is not an exhaustive list, just some web sites and blogs I know of and like.

Just a little warning first, english is my second language and while I read it fluently, I have some trouble with phrasing stuff. So the following might be a bit wonky.

Multiple Creators

Mod the Sims: one of the biggest sims 2 sites, also has content for the other sims games

Garden of Shadows: it's forum but you don't need to register to see or download stuff, also has content for sims 3 and sims 4

simblr.cc: quite new, also has content for the other sims games plus inZOI

Plumb Bob Keep: CC for historic themed games, the Download section is visible without registration

Sims2Artist: another forum

Simspearls: forum, registration needed before you can access it.

Creators with their own sites

Nixed Sims: Has historic and modern themed content

LordCrumps: Sims 4 to Sims 2 conversions

Around the Sims 2: inactive, but has lots of nice stuff. Creator is still actively making CC for Sims 3 and Sims 4.

Pick'n'Mix Mods: they made some really practical utility programs for the game

I should probably just move over to the new copy of the spreadsheet. Every image I have added has worked. Since I've been adding the new column and cleaning up entries as a go, the new copy has a few sheets that the original doesn't have because I'm afraid the images will break.

I'd have to redirect everyone to the new copy though, which would mean there'd be two copies of the spreadsheet floating around. I'd have to delete everything in the old one except for a link to the new one..
