Singyoku & Reimu- Highly Responsive to Prayers

i wish i could draw something for this years touhou popularity vote but i can’t so you’re getting who i voted for instead.

The following results will show where exactly my obsessions lie.

1: Yumemi Okazaki. What if you were from the far future and an alternate dimension and also wanted to kiss your first officer and had emotional regulation issues and AAAAAAAAAUGH

2: SinGyoku. Two people stuck in an orb together constantly bonking each other to get their goddamn chores done, and also their weird fusion. Goofy. Silly. Fun.

3: Kikuri. Unfortunately, the thoughts I have about her cannot fit in a single blurb but. I will say she’s hot. Goddess of Negotiation beloved.

4: YuugenMagan. My poor pathetic wet cat of a demon. I want to throw them into a beanbag chair and get them their self-confidence back.

5: Konngara. Badass knight AND a ghost. How much more awesome can you get. And they’re the teensiest bit edgy too. Perfect combination.

6: Flandre Scarlet. Silly tweenager who breaks things for fun. Big fan. Just remember to clean up the dust.

7: Momoyo Himemushi. Bigender centipede who eats rocks. Peak.

Patting every Touhou character #2.5 - SinGyoku (again!)

Sit down, folks, because I typed this for hours.

Reimu kinda… doesn’t remember ever having parents? She remembers having been taken care of by SinGyoku and Genjii since she was 5, and having been trained to become a shrine maiden, since her mom was also one! Thanks to this, this is why she sees Hakurei Shrine as her home.

By the time she was 7, Highly Responsive to Prayers would play out. She wasn’t able to fly yet, nor had the power to eradicate yokai with her ofuda. She thought that using the Yin-Yang Orb would be the best alternative.

However, the whole adventure left her… scared. She was weak and fragile. The Yin-Yang Orb kept hitting her head. Enemies and bullets were around the corner. Despite the training she had with SinGyoku before she had went to Hell and Makai, she was still very fearful of getting hit. She could’ve easily died with how nothing that could ensure no deaths would happen hadn’t existed yet.

She wasn’t sure how she survived, but she did. It made her get into a phase of training whenever the chance came up, because of the thought she had that her negative emotions made her do as poorly as she did. Either way, months after the adventure, SinGyoku would have left Hakurei Shrine, moving to pursue other things they had wished to do. They would reside somewhere secret, leading to Reimu having not seen them for the later years in her life.

A year later, the events of Story of Eastern Wonderland would play out. With the months before the event had started, Reimu had begun feeling very lonely, even with Genjii there to keep her company. She didn’t really have any friends the same age as her, leading to her life, feeling really samey in her eyes.

This adventure changed her opinion though. In the past months, she had also trained on making her ofuda stronger, using her Yin-Yang Orb in different, more creative ways, trying to fly and fighting in the air, with Genjii being her training wheels. By the time the events played out, she still couldn’t fly and had to be on Genjii for the whole adventure. This kept persisting on even till her fifth adventure.

She felt that she had grown more as a person on her second adventure. The enemies she met mostly weren’t huge, scary beings that had an air of immense danger to them, they were enemies that were more closer to her size! The only one that scared her were the Five Magic Stones, thanks to them, reminding her of what is to her, the freak of nature, YuugenMagan.

The whole adventure gave her some truly needed human-to-human… well… human-to-yokai interaction, something she was lacking in with her… big lack of repeated communication with different people.

Rika, Meira, Marisa, Mima. Seeing Mima again was such a surprise to her, seeing as she thought she wouldn’t have seen her again. The fact that she did… she could treat her fight with her as like a rematch, a way to show how far she’s come since her first battle with her!

And of course, the fact that Marisa kept meeting her after their first battle, sometimes going out of her way to see her, made her such a special person to Reimu. She was practically a play date that just wouldn’t stop coming, and despite the fact that Reimu acted a little annoyed by her constant reappearances, that facade soon faded away and they basically acted like great friends to each other.

And at the end of all that, she got her own cat yokai named Cookie! Her phase of wanting to train would soon die out by this time too.

About 3 months later, the events of Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream rolled around. Not much notable there. She got Ruukoto out of the whole ordeal. She didn’t really connect with a lot of the people she met on the adventure. Rikako, Kana, and Kotohime were people she’d rarely see again. Ellen, she at least saw more than the three and was able to bond a bit with her.

Chiyuri and Yumemi were who she bonded with most of the new ones she met, but not too much.

Really, by the time the events of Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream ended, she tried actually visiting Marisa a few times.

…The fact that she had to be in a house where she had to say that it was “Mima’s house” and not “Marisa’s house” felt so weird to her.

Another year later, and the events of Lotus Land Story unfolded. This was when her quirk of not showing much remorse to sealing yokai really came through, with the bold words she’d spout at Orange. Likely due to her, boarding away much of her negative emotions.

Yuuka wasn’t someone she expected to repeatedly see, but thanks to showing off how powerful she was against her, she noticed that Yuuka would keep coming around to the Hakurei Shrine, later adopting a more mother-like persona around her. It felt rather out of nowhere to her, but she doesn’t mind. Does call to question why this suddenly happened. It makes her wonder if there’s something she knows about her or not that’s making her act like this to her.

By the time she hit 10, the events of Mystic Square happened. Funny enough, not much changed with Reimu thanks to these events. However, Shinki and Alice, despite their short, first meetings, did make her get the thought of them, being faraway neighbors to her, and in turn, made her more curious about seeing them again.
