It Sunday!! So it is reset Sunday!

I don’t know for you but February has been pretty draining to me and knowing this month is coming to an end, i feel today is a great time to do some introspection.
Take your journal, and think about the fact that you made it through that challenging month. For me, I haven’t been this busy with work and felt like all that i do was not enough and just felt overwhelmed over all. Than i realized, man ITS WINTER! Everything would be overwhelming, i dont go out, way less socializing, more procrastination, no shit i feel so low.
If you live in Canada, especially in Quebec, you would know that winter been kicking our ass and i decided to do some about it! I look into ways to bring more joy into my life, active joy. Not Netflix or TikTok (which tbh turned in into a zombie lowkey)
I decided to find indoors hobbies and go back into walking 10k steps a day. I felt like i needed to find a purpose until summer comes back and i can be the goddess of the sun that i was always meant to be.
For the hobbies, i started reading again, BAKING ( because fly girls bake pookie ), working out more (yoga mostly because I’m a stiff queen rn and i dont like it).
So on this fine Sunday, do a list of the things the better you would be doing! Like what perfect you do on her free time you know! And also take some time to reflect and be grateful for yourself and all that makes you who you are.
Use today to plan this last week of February and prepare what you want your March to be. March will mark the end of the first quarter of the year. MAKE IT COUNT!
Here is a list of few hobbies you can do inside.
Creative & Artsy Hobbies 🎨
Painting & Drawing – Watercolors, acrylics, or digital art
Calligraphy & Hand Lettering – Beautiful writing styles
Scrapbooking – Preserve memories with creativity
Pottery & Clay Sculpting – Handmade ceramics and crafts
Mindful & Relaxing Hobbies 🧘🏾♀️
Meditation & Mindfulness – Stress relief and focus
Journaling – Gratitude journaling, dream logs, bullet journaling
Reading – Fiction, self-help, history, or poetry
Puzzles & Brain Teasers – Sudoku, crosswords, Rubik’s cubes
Astrology & Tarot Reading – Explore spiritual insights
Learning & Skill-Building Hobbies 📚
Learning a New Language – Apps like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone
Taking Online Courses – Skillshare, Coursera, Udemy
Playing a Musical Instrument – Piano, guitar, ukulele, or digital music production
Coding & Programming – Build websites, apps, or game
Creative Writing – Poetry, short stories, novels
Food & Drink Hobbies 🍽️

Cooking International Dishes – Try cuisines from different cultures
Mixology & Bartending – Make creative mocktails or cocktails
Fermenting Foods – Kimchi, yogurt, kombucha
I hope this help and i hope you giriliees are okay

Masterpieces in Pixels: The Best of Digital Photo Artwork
When Technology Meets Imagination
Once, the masterpiece was born of brush and canvas. Today, some of the world's most breathtaking compositions begin with a stylus and screen. Welcome to the world of digital art painting, where creativity knows that there is no limit and pixels do not become poetry.
This article is a celebration of the digital renaissance - showing iconic digital photo artifacts, spotting impressive artists, and revealing how the technique is changing the visual stories.
The Rise of Digital Art: A New Chapter in Art History
The development of art has always been powered by equipment—stone, charcoal, oil, and acrylic. The digital era brought a new set of devices: graphic tablets, photo-editing software, and 3D rendering engines.

Why Digital Art Painting Deserves the Spotlight
Critics once rejected digital art as "less real," but the world of art has moved. Today, digital photo artwork is displayed in major galleries, collected as NFTs, and used in gaming, film, fashion, and advertising.
Here’s what makes it stand out:
Versatility: From photorealism to essence, digital equipment suits every style.
Efficiency: Premous, again, and layers use the experiment risk-free.
Exception: Artists worldwide can cooperate, share, and sell their work.
Digital Masterpieces That Inspire
Let's dive into some standout examples that show the emotional and technical depth of digital art painting.
1. “Portrait of the Future” by Artgerm
A hyper-detailed science-fiction portrait that mixes Eastern aesthetics with the Western comic book effect. The signature of the artgerm is possible with the work of the complex layer in Photoshop.
2. “City of Light” by Beeple
One of the most famous digital artists of our time creates a dystopian world with quality like Bipal cinema. Their daily rendering leads the boundaries of digital storytelling.
3. “Dreams in Bloom” by Ross Tran
This colorful, chaotic, and joyful piece shows how digital equipment can reflect an artist's personality. Ross's bold brushstrokes and unique character design make their work immediately recognizable.
Behind the Scenes: How Digital Art Paintings Are Created
Creating a digital work includes more than just software. It is a process filled with vision, technology, and story.
Step-by-step Process:
Sketching the concept —just like traditional art.
Blocking in shapes and color —using layers for flexibility.
Adding depth and lighting—digital brushes simulate texture and light.
Refining details—highlights, shadows, effects, and final polish.

Meet the Masters: Influential Digital Artists
Loish (Lois van Baarle)
Known for its dreamy characters and expressive brushwork, depiction and animation of bridges in a vibrant digital style.
Feng Zhu
Concept artist for games like Star Wars and Transformers, Feng brings cinematic flair to every digital stroke.
Magdalena Pagowska
Their fantasy-themed digital photo artifacts featured a mixture of realism and imagination, often accompanied by ethereal light and flowing texture.
How to Appreciate Digital Art
It is not certain how to read digital paintings. Here are things to see:
Brush technique: Is it painterly, smooth, or textured?
Lighting: Does it evoke a mood?
Composition: How are the elements balanced?
Emotion: What story is it telling?
Digital does not mean. In fact, with repetition and the ability to use it, digital art often captures deep emotional nuances.
Getting Started: Become a Digital Creator Yourself
Inspired? You can try your hand at digital art painting even as a beginner. Here’s how:
Beginner Tools: Try free apps like Krita or use an iPad with Procreate.
Learn the Basics: Study traditional drawing—digital is just a new medium.
Take Courses: Platforms like Skillshare, Udemy, and YouTube are goldmines.
Join the Community: Reddit, ArtStation, and Discord groups provide support and feedback.
The best way to improve? Just keep creating. Even the best artists started with stick figures.
The Digital Canvas: What's Next?
Technology leads the limits of creativity.
AI-assisted painting tools are helping artists generate ideas faster.
Augmented and virtual reality art is becoming more interactive.
NFTs and blockchain have created new art markets and collector experiences.

Celebrating Creativity in the Digital Age
Digital art painting is proof that artistry is not limited by medium. Whether it is painted on a canvas or prepared on a tablet, what matters is the story that tells it, and it is a feeling.
In Pixel, these works reflect the same passion, technology, and surprise that are hanging any oil painting in a museum. So next time you see a digital artwork, look closely - you can gaze into the future of art.

Yvette Heiser- Is it possible to start a career in photography without formal education?
If you are passionate about photography but don't know how to get a career out of it, this read is for you. Many people are interested in photography but also doubt whether it brings a good career if it needs any formal education, etc. The answer is photography is a good career option which doesn't always require formal education. But it needs a lot of effort to attain excellence. Watch out, Yvette Heiser investigating the Transformative Power of Photography to get an understanding of the power of photography. Here, we will discuss how we can excel at photography without a formal education.

Self-Taught Photographers
One of the recent significant developments is the rise of self-taught photographers who have honed their skills through online resources, workshops, and mentorship programs. The internet is teeming with tutorials, forums, and video workshops covering every aspect of photography, from technical knowledge to creative composition. Platforms like YouTube, Skillshare, and Udemy offer various courses taught by industry professionals, allowing aspiring photographers to learn at their own pace and choose topics that align with their interests and career goals.
Mastering the Basics:
To get started with your photography career without formal education, it is essential to master the basics of photography. Understanding exposure, composition, lighting, and post-processing techniques are fundamental skills that every photographer should possess. Exposure, controlled by aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings, determines the amount of light that reaches the camera sensor. Composition principles like the rule of thirds guide how elements are arranged within the frame, while lighting techniques can dramatically impact the mood and tone of a photograph.
Building a Strong Portfolio:
Creating a compelling portfolio is essential for showcasing your work and attracting clients. Quality often trumps quantity, so selecting the best images demonstrating your style and versatility is crucial. A diverse portfolio with different genres, subjects, and compositions showcases your photography range. Have a look at Yvette Heiser Texas – Why Hire a Professional Photographer at Your Wedding which explains the ongoing demand for wedding photographers. So, there is an absolute career awaiting professional photographers. Whether it's landscape, portrait, product, or event photography, your portfolio should reflect. Your unique vision and aesthetic. In today's digital age, having a personal website or utilizing social media platforms to display your work can significantly enhance your visibility and credibility as a photographer.
Networking and Collaboration:
Networking plays a vital role in building a successful photography career. Connecting with other photographers, joining photography groups or clubs, and attending industry events can provide valuable opportunities for learning, collaboration, and mentorship. Assisting experienced photographers on shoots can offer insights into professional workflows and client interactions, helping you navigate the intricacies of the industry. Engaging with potential clients and understanding their needs is essential for establishing relationships and securing job opportunities.
Final thoughts
While formal education can provide a structured learning environment and mentorship opportunities, it is possible to start a career in photography without it. With dedication, perseverance, and a passion for storytelling through images, the possibilities are endless for those who dare to pursue their dreams behind the lens.

Week 5: Skillshare - Make Your Own Digital Illustration Tools on the iPad

I liked Nariyoshi’s class on customizing brushes so I was excited to see she also had a class on how to create your own brush from scratch. It turns out that she starts by creating textures with traditional mediums first, like ink. It again proves that in order to get something that feels like it has a hand-drawn quality, you have to actually start with your hands and create it. I’ve always felt like, as many brushes as I have to mimic the feel of a paintbrush, they pale in comparison to the real thing.
Notable tips:
She uses a dip pen. I bought a dip pen and its various nibs ages and ages ago for lining artwork. I definitely want to incorporate it more into my design work.
Messiness is encouraged. Unevenness creates more interesting textures. Don’t overthink it.

(ARTS345) Project #1 Progress, Spray Painting Sketchbook, & Signing Up for Skillshare
Week Three
Project #1 Progress: In Class Critique of Three Poster Drafts

This week, my class schedule was affected by Labor Day, so I only had one class session on Wednesday. It was surprising how the whole week seemed to speed up because of just one missed day. I especially noticed it as I worked on the Manifesto Poster project. Honestly, this week was quite a challenge for me. I realized that I needed to make significant revisions to my initial ideas for the manifesto project in order to meet the poster requirements, and in some cases, I had to completely start over.
During Wednesday's class, the entire class was divided into two separate groups for our first critique of the semester. The purpose was to give valuable feedback to our peers on the progress of their three poster drafts, evaluating whether certain visual elements worked well and represented our identities accurately. It was also noted that these posters would be displayed in the design wing of McMaster College, adding pressure to get them just right. During the critique, my group stayed in McMaster 323, where we presented our posters and the ideas behind our designs. In hindsight, this method was not very helpful as it was difficult for everyone to see the posters from where they were sitting at the table. However, there was less pressure as we didn't have to stand in front of a large group to talk about our progress. Midway through the critique, we decided to pin our designs to the board so everyone could see them side by side. However, this method proved challenging as it made the students nervous and they provided less feedback than before. I hope that as the semester goes on, the critique process will become more insightful, allowing students to feel more comfortable and provide more feedback to their peers.
Despite the sudden change in the critique method, I received some insightful feedback from my peers regarding my three poster designs. Originally, I planned to incorporate words, phrases, and quotes from my manifesto draft into the background of my colored Polaroid self-portrait. This was meant to represent me and my artistic process. I created two drafts with my original color portrait and one in grayscale for a more dramatic effect. The first draft featured my color self-portrait with fun designs in the background, created using Adobe Photoshop and the chromograph silky sketches brush from True Grit Textures Supply. The purpose was to showcase my personal design style in a sketchy, fun manner. Additionally, I incorporated words from my manifesto into the background using a classic sketch brush to complement my geometric design style. The second poster draft was similar to the first but in black and white, with more space to include additional words or phrases from my manifesto. I used a more cursive style of handwritten typography to enhance the dramatic theme. However, I found that my thin and light handwritten lettering was difficult to see when printed on 11x17 32lb paper. The third and final design maintained the handwritten style from the first draft but replaced the shapes with hand-drawn blobs to represent speech bubbles. This design choice reflects my style, as I often use fun, organic shapes and blobs in my work. The colorful blobs matched the color palette of the first draft, and I decided to incorporate the colored version of my self-portrait.
Draft 3 was the most popular among my peers because it brought movement to the piece. The blobs and speech bubbles framed my portrait nicely and created a fun and balanced visual hierarchy. While the other two drafts received compliments, it was noted that the lettering was too exaggerated and difficult to read, which didn't meet the legibility criteria for the project. I was also informed that I needed to include an entire paragraph from my manifesto, my name, and the GD+I logo, instead of specific words from my manifesto. I appreciate the feedback as it gives me the opportunity to improve my project. Even though I'll need to either modify or start over with my project, I believe the final draft will be much better than the original drafts.
Spray Painting Sketchbook

During syllabus week, Professor Valdes mentioned that he wanted this semester to be creative and fun. To better enforce the idea of fun, he suggested that all of his students spray paint their sketchbooks to highlight their personality and personal art style. This seemed like a really fun and creative idea. I had never spray-painted a sketchbook before, so I was excited to experiment with various styles. For the initial concept, I wanted to put some form of text on the front, whether it be my name, my class's name, or the program's name. For the back, I wanted to do some sort of geometric style, which is my personal art style when it comes to creating my own original work. To create the front cover, I took Valdes' advice and purchased stickers to act as stencils instead of struggling with spelling out the words using masking tape. This method proved to be really helpful and saved me time and struggle. Since the stickers were rather large, I didn't have enough room to spell out my name or the course name. Instead, I decided to put "GD+I 2024" to highlight the graphic design and illustration program and the year I am enrolled in the course. For the back, I created a design using Adobe Illustrator, printed it out in black and white, and cut out the shapes that I didn't want to be spray painted. This acted as a stencil for the various shape designs, as I could not find shape stickers when I went to Hobby Lobby. I used double-sided tape to turn my copy paper into makeshift stickers. I began spray-painting a layer of white paint into the front and back cover to serve as a base. Next, I spray-painted a layer of garnet to represent the university's official color. I also spray-painted an additional layer of white to give the cover some texture. I wanted two hours between coats, and I even painted when it began to sprinkle rain, which caused the cover to develop some additional texture. Once everything had dried, I removed the stickers and paper stencils. Overall, these stencil methods worked really well, and I'm happy with how the book looked. Then I bought some POSCA paint pens that were warm tones to represent autumn (my favorite season) and to complement the garnet color. I used the paint pens to color in the shapes to create a fun geometric design. The paint pens were a little tricky to use, as they kept taking off the paint from time to time and were being soaked up by the canvas material of the sketchbook. If I were to redo this process, I would spray-paint the entire book white and then put on the stencils to make the paint pen colors pop more. Then I sealed everything with a fixative spray. Overall, I am happy with how this sketchbook turned out. While I'm a little worried about the paint chipping on the spine of the book, I am thrilled with how this project turned out, and it was fun to play with spray paint!
Signing Up for Skillshare & Exploring the Platform
NOTE: I am currently in the process of signing up for Skillshare, which is a requirement for this course. I applied for a student discount of 30% off for my first year. This means I'll be paying $22 instead of $32 a month. The process may take a day or two to complete. I apologize for the delay, but I'll be able to start watching videos on that platform starting next week.
