Half-Assed Update

So I’ve been working on chapter 17 for Faal Orkiindah. It’s…a work in progress.

Yeah it’s not dead, I’m just godawful at sticking to one thing. Keep having to tell myself “No rewrites until you’ve finished dinner The Chapter.” But we’ll see how long that lasts.

Got the first chapter done for the ESO Summerset fic. Still trying to figure out how I want to work Cloudrest into the storyline - spent too much in that trial not to include it plus there’s a whole other dynamic there that needs to be explored.

Yall the Larian updates and patches for BG3 are the complete fucking opposite of whatever the hell Bethesda been doing with Skyrim since its 2011 release.

All most of us wanted with the patches in BG3 was bug fixes, fleshed out characters, completed companion quests, equal amount of companion time and the upper fucking city.

What we’ve gotten: white vampire supremacy, bear man promotion from subpar side character to subpar main character status, fifteen million kisses, demeaning the chronically ill wizard, cutting even more of the companion with the least amount of content on release, updated brothel afterglow, removing steampunk fallout boy’s bisexual letters and unfinished fiery big lady’s companion quest.

Not to mention, the feral side of the fandom out here sexualizing vampire VA, other VAs forming parasocial relationships that tiptoe the inappropriate line and the blacksmith’s VA all but begging the fans to stop demanding romancing of his character, the fucking studio acting a fool on social media and so much more

I’m very glad I’m back into ESO, gives me less stress.

There was a bunch of Easter Eggs and references in the last episode of My Adventures with Superman, Kiss Kiss Fall in Portal. I've gone over most of them on this post, but there was just one moment that had so many that I was unsure of that I wanted to do it's own post so if more people get the references that can be discovered.

I'm not sure if these are supposed to be references/easter eggs or just set dressing, but I'm gonna try to figure it out. It very much pushes that button of hey these seem familiar. Here are my thoughts and guesses on these items, if you know or have something that seems close let me know and I'll update it.

“The Inquisitor And Her Commander”

As some of you may have noticed, I am a huge fan of the Dragon Age games, especially Dragon Age Inquisition. Last year, I had planned on drawing all the main [playable] characters up until Dragon Age Day (which took place on December 4th), but I just didn’t have time to draw more than three characters (the Inquisitor, Solas, & Varric…please check them out in my gallery) due to being busy with work and other things. I’ll eventually draw the other characters when I gather more motivation to do so.

For now, please enjoy this piece. I hope everybody likes this. I worked very hard on this artwork. It took longer than usual to create, due to all the small details, the poses, & the armour. (Armour is not easy to draw for me!) For those of you who are DAI fans, you may recognize the flowers: Crystal Grace on the bottom and Andraste’s Grace on the top. I know Andraste’s Grace is not in DAI, but I thought it would be pretty to add to the artwork (since it technically exists in the Thedas world).

 My OC Inquisitor is named Bryony Trevelyan. She is actually my 2nd Inquisitor character, the first one having been an elf (which I may draw someday). I had been playing DAI for the 3rd time, a few months ago, as a male character (since I wanted him to be in a romance with Dorian, so yes, my male Inquisitor is gay), but I stopped for a bit since I am playing Skyrim at the moment (with updates & mods). Anyway, back on the main subject: I drew Inquisitor Bryony Trevelyan in the Armor of the Dragon Hunter outfit (from the Jaws of Hakkon DLC), which I had altered the colours by tinting it with Veil Quartz. I based her crown from concept art for DAI. So much armour in the game! Which I love, especially since the DA games don’t give female characters the stereotypical skimpy outfits…I love that I get to make my female characters wear bad-ass armour.

Cullen Rutherford is such an adorable and slightly awkward character around my Inquisitor. I knew I had to romance him right away, because his looks are the type of man I am attracted to in real life. (I’m not going to lie…in the game, he’s hot for a video game character. Ha ha!) I’ve always enjoyed the flirting in the DA games when it comes to the relationships. The best scene was right before their first kiss, when Cullen got interrupted by a member of the Inquisition, and then got mad about it. Ha ha. I liked when my Inquisitor asked Cullen, “The day you kissed me on the battlements…how long had you wanted to do that?” And Cullen replied (with a laugh), “Longer that I should admit.” Awwwww.

I also liked the part in the Winter Palace, when all these people were flirting with Cullen, and one asked him, “Are you married, Commander?” And Cullen replied, “Not yet, but I am…already taken.” Double awwww, because a loyal man is so dreamy. :3 I actually had Bryony & Cullen get married in the last DLC. :3 They adopt a Mabari (dog), too!

I love DAI too much. :D It’s such a fun game with the most gorgeous graphics (especially on the Xbox Series X).

Drawn with Sakura Pigma Micron pens, then coloured in with a mixture of Copic Markers & Ohuhu Markers. I used Koi Watercolours for the background. White accents done with both a gel pen and white watercolour. Gold acrylic was used for the Inquisition Symbol & the lines, which the scanner absolutely murders...the gold is such a pretty, shimmery metallic in real life. The light green around my art was done in Photoshop Elements.

Hello, everyone! I know updates are very slow, but life is absolutely draining me of my writing mojo most days. But!!! I did some writing, just in time for it to still count as a WIP Wednesday! I must say that working on ch. 17 of WYGTYA is hard because it's by far the most serious, angst-filled thing I've written so far :(((

The noise of the city was still dim, the people of the port already tuning in to either a night of much-needed sleep or raucous drinking at the taverns, and so the port is quiet, peaceful, the only sounds filling the air are the soothing waves of the Sea of Ghosts and the distant noises of the city ahead of them. Blacklight. Full of its magical charm and dancing lights and colourfulness. Ravonna’s steps falter because the air smells like home once again: it is not damp and moist like Black Marsh, nor is it the warm and flowery smells of Cyrodiil, nor the harsh, cold, yet fresh air of Skyrim. It smells like ash and sea salt and flavored tobacco from shishas and that distinct smell of cloth paint that Dunmer use. She can hear the faint hum of Red Mountain, the distant bards singing in taverns, the loud laughter of the people in the city and the soft, hushed giggles of sailors who cannot sleep but don’t want to wake their crew up and they’re all so frustratingly, Gods-damned oblivious to her thundering heart and the violent lightning strikes that hit her soul with each step, each breath, each second spent here again. Fuck, she should be happy, excited, but everything hurts and this bad feeling that something’s not right, that something’s missing won’t go away.

Hymn of the High Seas, chapter 3:

They settle cross-legged around the small coffee table, collectively thinking that this place was not built to host so many people. Renjiro runs outside with a spring in his step.

“Sooo… I think it’s safe to assume that this guy is a big fan of swords.” Signe speaks, earning a huff from Rhaim and a knowing smile from Arvyvel. 

“That makes two of us.” Rhaim says.

“Really? I always figured you'd be more of a -” she stops to gesticulate clawing and eating an enemy in beast form, “- kind of person, ya know?” 

He looks at her for a moment before bursting into deep, earth-grumbling laughter. “Careful, you might scare away our future crewmates.”

“Me? I’m absolutely elated.” Arvyvel says.

“And I still haven’t agreed to anything! I’m not going on some suicide mission!” Marc says, annoyed.

“Fine by me. We don’t need you anyway. Don’t need your kind among us.” Rhaim flares his nostrils and breathes out aggressively.

Before Marc can say anything back, a loud, obnoxious cough interrupts them.

“I’m sorry, gentlemen, but I have to interrupt the tense moment. No fighting in this house.” Renjiro says, making his way to the table with two bottles of fresh sake. He tries to keep his calm demeanor and shove down the thoughts of ‘Yoshi will kill me if I made a mess in his absence.’

The men stop, not before glaring menacingly at each other one last time. Rhaim doesn’t like traitorous bastards and he could smell this guy’s traitorous bastard-ness from miles away. He scoots closer to Marc, turning his back to him and making Room for Renjiro between him and Signe. His eyes light up at the bottle of alcohol. The swordsman lays out five small glasses and fills them. Rhaim takes it quickly, his patience running out, taking a sip and closing his eyes to really feel the taste on his tongue, going down his throat. A pleasure grunt escapes him. It’s unlike anything he’s ever tasted: strong, but not too strong. Balanced, a cascade of flavors – a harmonious blend of sweet and dry alcohol warming his chest and his spirit.

“Fuck.” He breathes, opening his eyes, only to see everyone looking at him, with their glasses halfway up in a toast. He raises an eyebrow.

“Ye need a moment alone with that glass of booze?” Signe smirks.

a basic understanding of skyrim / the elder scrolls in general, for those who need / want it. part one, part two here. ♡

personally, i think the best way to get a good read on the game itself & any need-to-know lore (even just basic stuff) would be to read through the wiki! it's fan-run, so it's pretty organized & easy to understand, plus it's updated as needed. there’s the fandom wiki (here) but i prefer (& recommend) the uesp one (here) … it’s much more organized & concise in my opinion!! less ads around the space too O_O

if you want to go even further, there's also the imperial library but that's more for reading in-depth (in-game, i think?) information. if you want to go for it, go right ahead! but otherwise if you just want the 'foundation', don't worry about it. :')

anyways! here's some basic links that could help you understand the universe / remilia a bit better: mainly lore, but some gameplay aspects too — just be careful of any spoilers if you may play the game(s) in the future! no need to read through all of them, of course, just read what you'd like. the most important to understanding the portrayal / if you want to make a verse yourself are marked :]
