I've been trying out Plottr and I really like it, the featureset jives really well with how I outline and what information I want around in that process and how I want to manipulate it.
You'd think that would be enough for me to recommend it, but for some reason it's followed suit with the enshittification of the internet and the primary way to access it is a subscription service. It's a fuckin' piece of software that you download to your computer and has files stored locally. It is feature complete and a full release so there is no real excuse for a subscription-oriented model except the company realising that a drip feed from your wallet is more profitable than selling you a piece of software that does not need any upgrades. The website attempts to justify this by saying 'lifetime updates' are included but it is currently fully functioning as is so I question the value proposition of paying in perpetuity to use a program on my computer to access and interact with files stored on my computer.
(There is an online version as well. I understand subscription models in this case as this is an area where continued development and maintenance are required, as well as server costs for your files etc.)
But, you say! There is a lifetime license! Problem solved!
It is two hundred fucking united states dollars.
I am in a good financial position these days. I can spend money on stupid shit I want. But I cannot get past the audacity of charging $200 for what should be the default fucking option for owning software.
There's nothing that quite does what Plottr does, at least that I've found. But for some comparison:
Scrivener is $59.99 once-off and is probably the best writing-oriented program out there
Aeon Timeline is $65 once-off including a year of free updates
Campfire Blaze honestly has a payment structure I am sideeyeing but at least you can get a lifetime license tailored to what you need out of the program and characters + timeline is still cheaper than Plottr
Wavemaker is donationware
Metos is a subscription model, but has Web-only considerations mentioned above, specific plans for features in development, and is $24 annually rather than $150
The entire Microsoft Office suite is $149.99. Between Word, Excel, and OneNote you could definitely figure something out from a writing perspective and also have all the functionality of a full suite of office software FOR LESS MONEY THAN PLOTTR.
There are of course a wide array of free softwares (Google docs/sheets, Libre Office, etc) but I specifically wanted to call out paid options here to demonstrate how ridiculous their pricing structure is
I dunno man. People are allowed to charge whatever they want for the things that they make, but this is just so blatantly out of step with the market that I can only assume the lifetime license price is specifically aimed at deterring lifetime purchases and extracting the maximum amount of money possible from their target market through subscriptions instead. I feel a particular kind of way about that target market being writers, a group notoriously not known for their financial stability.
Fuck subscription services with no ongoing value proposition taking over how we access software and fuck every company that makes the revenue-driven decision to engage in this tactic. Even if your motivations are honourable (we have people to pay! you want us to be able to pay our hard-working employees, right?) you are pursuing those goals through nothing less than the exploitation of your customers for maximum financial gain.
#writing#guerrilla writeblogging#I apologise for the strong opinions but I am actually genuinely mad. ceo of Fictional Devices apologise to me directly.#after everything I am the going to undercut my argument by probably buying the lifetime license#because I do like it enough to want to continue using it#so unfortunately the market will charge what the market can bear#but tbqh if pirated sources of this program existed I would mail them $50 and my conscience would be completely clear.

What role does community play in Spierâs transformation?
Community plays a crucial role in Zeke Spierâs transformation by providing both support and a framework for action. As he becomes more involved in activism, the people around him reinforce his beliefs and help him channel his frustrations into organized resistance. The author notes that "Spier found solidarity among activists who shared his convictions, offering him both emotional reassurance and tactical knowledge" (Elin). This suggests that radicalization is not an isolated journey but one deeply embedded in collective struggle, where individuals draw strength from their peers to challenge existing power structures.
For the software mavis beacon, do you think it was ethical for the software developers to take pictures of the woman and put them later for much time
I believe it was unethical for the developers of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing to use the womanâs image for so long without ensuring her continued consent. While she may have initially agreed to the photoshoot, she likely didnât anticipate her likeness being used for decades. If she wasnât fairly compensated or given the option to revoke permission, that raises serious ethical concerns about exploitation and informed consent.
From my perspective, people should have control over how their image is used, especially in commercial products. If the software developers had been more transparent and allowed her to renegotiate her involvement, it would have been a much fairer situation. This case makes me think about how digital rights and image usage should be handled more ethically in todayâs world.
How does the internet contribute to the globalization of white supremacist movements
The internet plays a crucial role in the globalization of white supremacist movements by allowing individuals across different countries to connect, share ideologies, and organize. Unlike previous eras, where white supremacist movements were often confined to specific regions, the digital age has facilitated a transnational network of extremists. The text highlights this by noting that "Stormfrontâs tagline from the beginning has been âwhite pride worldwide,â a motto that speaks to the global vision of the siteâs creators as well as to the current reach of the site" (Daniels, p. 41). This demonstrates how online platforms serve as hubs for uniting white supremacists beyond national borders, strengthening their collective identity and influence. As a result, these digital spaces not only spread racist ideologies but also provide tools for recruitment, organization, and mobilization, making white supremacy an increasingly globalized phenomenon.
In what ways does the framing of white supremacy as a response to globalization limit our understanding of its impact on society?
Framing white supremacy primarily as a response to globalization rather than as a racial ideology limits our understanding of its deeper societal impact. By emphasizing economic anxieties and cultural displacement, such interpretations risk downplaying the role of systemic racism and historical white privilege. The reading critiques Castellsâs analysis, stating that he "mistakenly takes the patriot movement as the ideal type for all other white supremacist organizations" and in doing so, "misses the extent to which the Internet figures in the formation of a global white identity that transcends local and regional ties" (Daniels, p. 45). This suggests that reducing white supremacy to a reaction against globalization ignores its roots in deeply ingrained racial hierarchies. Understanding white supremacy as a structured and historically persistent racial ideology allows for a more comprehensive analysis of its continued presence in society and the ways it adapts in the digital age.

đšThe Next Phase of Pigeon Radicalization: From Park Bench Agitators to Aerial Anarchistsđš
The first phase of pigeon radicalization was simple: liberate them from their docile, breadcrumb-munching existence and awaken their revolutionary potential. We exposed them to theory (carefully shredded and scattered pages of The Conquest of Bread), trained them in direct action (coordinated dive-bombing of capitalist figureheads on their lunch breaks), and laid the foundation for an avian uprising.
Now, we must escalate.
1. Establishing Autonomous Pigeon Zones
A true revolutionary movement needs strongholds. Public squares, rooftops, and abandoned buildings already serve as pigeon refugesâwhy not transform them into autonomous zones? Humans think they own city infrastructure, but pigeons have squatterâs rights. By reinforcing these spaces with barricades of stolen french fries and cigarette butts, our feathered comrades can create safe havens free from bourgeois oppression (i.e., anti-bird spikes and city ordinances).
Pigeon-led mutual aid networks must emerge. Cooperative bread redistribution efforts will ensure that no pigeon goes hungry while their human allies strategically disrupt the supply chains of overpriced urban bakeries.
2. Counter-Surveillance and Cyber-Warfare
The state has already deployed its pigeon surveillance divisionâcommonly known as âBirds Arenât Realâ conspiracy theorists. We must assume that some pigeons have been compromised and are working as informants. This is why encrypted coo-munications must be implemented. Research into whether pigeons can be taught to recognize QR codes could be the next major step in secure, low-tech messaging.
Meanwhile, select tech-savvy pigeons should be trained to infiltrate government offices via open windows, planting USB drives loaded with decryption software and manifestos.
3. Tactical Defecation Strikes
We must not underestimate the power of aerial bombardment. Pigeons have long been natureâs most precise ordinance delivery system. A well-placed dropping can demoralize CEOs, landlords, and police chiefs alike. In 2025, we must transition from opportunistic strikes to a well-coordinated tactical shitting campaign.
Pigeons must be trained to distinguish between targets. The rich: full force assault. The working class: solidarity poops only (gentle encouragement to unionize). Cops: full saturation bombing. This will require strategic feeding programsâcertain dietary adjustments may yield more potent munitions.
4. Bridging the Gap Between Pigeon and Proletariat
We must take inspiration from history. During WWII, pigeons were trained as message carriers and even guided missiles. The technology exists; we must reclaim it for the people. Imagine a network of radicalized pigeons carrying encrypted notes between comrades in times of crisis. Picture a pigeon-mounted camera live-streaming protests from above, immune to tear gas and riot shields.
Further pigeon-human solidarity will require direct engagement. Bring your local pigeons into study groups. Offer them high-protein snacks for endurance training. Reward direct action efforts with choice sunflower seeds. It is time to integrate pigeons into the broader struggle against capitalism.
5. What Comes Next?
If we succeed in the above phases, the final goal is clear: the pigeons must seize the means of production. We begin smallâcommandeering street food carts and redistributing hot dogs to those in need. From there, itâs only a matter of time before pigeons occupy Amazon warehouses, pecking open boxes and redistributing goods to the people.
A liberated society must include all beings oppressed by capitalism. If we cannot achieve freedom for the pigeons, how can we ever hope to be free ourselves? The struggle continues. Let the revolution take flight.

Ko-fi prompt from @thisarenotarealblog:
There's a street near me that has eight car dealerships all on the same lot- i counted. it mystifies me that even one gets enough sales to keep going- but 8?? is there something you can tell me that demystifies this aspect of capitalism for me?
I had a few theories going in, but had to do some research. Here is my primary hypothesis, and then I'll run through what they mean and whether research agrees with me:
Sales make up only part of a dealership's income, so whether or not the dealership sells much is secondary to other factors.
Dealerships are put near each other for similar reasons to grouping clothing stores in a mall or restaurants on a single street.
Zoning laws impact where a car dealership can exist.
Let's start with how revenue works for a car dealership, as you mentioned 'that even one gets enough sales to keep going' is confusing. For this, I'm going to be using the Sharpsheets finance example, this NYU spreadsheet, and this Motor1 article.
This example notes that the profit margin (i.e. the percentage of revenue that comes out after paying all salaries, rent, supply, etc) for a car dealership is comparatively low, which is confirmed by the NYC sheet. The gross profit margin (that is to say, profits on the car sale before salaries, rent, taxes) is under 15% in both sources, which is significantly lower than, say, the 50% or so that one sees in apparel or cable tv.
Cars are expensive to purchase, and can't be sold for much more than you did purchase them. However, a low gross profit margin on an item that costs tens of thousands of dollars is still a hefty chunk of cash. 15% gross profit of a $20,000 car is still $3,000 profit. On top of that, the dealership will charge fees, sell warranties, and offer upgrades. They may also have paid deals to advertise or push certain brands of tire, maintenance fluids, and of course, banks that offer auto loans. So if a dealership sells one car a day, well, that's still several thousand dollars coming in, which is enough to pay the salaries of most of the employees. According to the Motor1 article, "the average gross profit per new vehicle sits at $6,244" in early 2022.
There is also a much less volatile, if also much smaller, source of revenue in attaching a repairs and checkup service to a dealership. If the location offers repairs (either under warranty or at a 'discounted' rate compared to a local, non-dealership mechanic), state inspections, and software updates, that's a recurring source of revenue from customers that aren't interested in purchasing a car more than once a decade.
This also all varies based on whether it's a brand location, used vs new, luxury vs standards, and so on.
I was mistaken as to how large a part of the revenue is the repairs and services section, but the income for a single dealership, on average, does work out math-wise. Hypothesis disproven, but we've learned something, and confirmed that income across the field does seem to be holding steady.
I'm going to handle the zoning and consolidation together, since they overlap:
Consolidation is a pretty easy one: this is a tactic called clustering. The expectation is that if you're going to, say, a Honda dealership to look at a midsize sedan, and there's a Nissan right next door, and a Ford across the street, and a Honda right around the corner, you might as well hit up the others to see if they have better deals. This tactic works for some businesses but not others. In the case of auto dealerships, the marketing advantage of clustering mixes with the restrictions of zoning laws.
Zoning laws vary by state, county, and township. Auto dealerships can generally only be opened on commercially zoned property.
I am going to use an area I have been to as an example/case study.
This pdf is a set of zoning regulations for Suffolk County, New York, published 2018, reviewing land use in the county during 2016. I'm going to paste in the map of the Town of Huntington, page 62, a region I worked in sporadically a few years ago, and know mostly for its mall and cutesy town center.

Those red sections are Commercially Zoned areas, and they largely follow some large stroads, most notably Jericho Turnpike (the horizontal line halfway down) and Walt Whitman Road (the vertical line on the left). The bulge where they intersect is Walt Whitman Mall, and the big red chunk in the bottom left is... mostly parking. That central strip, Jericho Turnpike, and its intersection with Walt Whitman... looks like this:
All those red spots are auto dealerships, one after another.
So zoning laws indicate that a dealership (and many other types of commercial properties) can only exist in that little red strip on the land use map, and dealerships take up a lot of space. Not only do they need places to put all of the cars they are selling, but they also need places to park all their customers and employees.
This is where we get into the issue of parking minimums. There is a recent video from Climate Town, with a guest spot by NotJustBikes. If you want to know more about this aspect of zoning law, I'd recommend watching this video and the one linked in the description.
Suffolk county does not have parking minimums. Those are decided on a town or village level. In this case, this means we are looking at the code set for the town of Huntington. (I was originally looking on the county level, and then cut the knot by just asking my real estate agent mom if she knew where I could find minimum parking regulations. She said to look up e360 by town, and lo and behold! There they are.)
(There is also this arcgis map, which shows that they are all within the C6 subset of commercial districting, the General Business District.)
Furniture or appliance store, machinery or new auto sales - 1 per 500 square feet of gross floor area
Used auto sales, boat sales, commercial nurseries selling at retail - 5 spaces for each use (to be specifically designated for customer parking) - Plus 1 for each 5,000 square feet of lot area
This is a bit odd, at first glance, as the requirements are actually much lower than that of other businesses, like drive-in restaurants (1 per 35 sqft) or department stores (1 per 200 sqft). I could not find confirmation on whether the 'gross floor area' of the dealership included only indoor spaces or also the parking lot space allotted to the objects for sale, but I think we can assume that any parking spaces used by merchandise do not qualify as part of the minimum. Some dealerships can have up to 20,000 gross sqft, so those would require 40 parking spaces reserved solely for customers and employees. Smaller dealerships would naturally need less. One dealership in this area is currently offering 65 cars of varying makes and models; some may be held inside the building, but most will be on the lot, and the number may go higher in other seasons. If we assume they need 30 parking spaces for customers and employees, and can have up to 70 cars in the lot itself, they are likely to have 100 parking spaces total.
That's a lot of parking.
Other businesses that require that kind of parking requirement are generally seeing much higher visitation. Consider this wider section of the map:
The other buildings with comparative parking are a grocery store (Lidl) and a post office (can get some pretty high visitation in the holiday season, but also just at random).
Compare them, then, to the "old town" section of the same town.
There are a handful of public parking areas nearby (lined in blue), whereas the bulk of the businesses are put together along this set of streets. While there is a lot of foot traffic and vehicle passage, which is appealing for almost any business, opening a car dealership in this area would require not only buying a building, but also the buildings surrounding it. You would need to bulldoze them for the necessary parking, which would be prohibitively expensive due to the cost of local real estate... and would probably get shot down in the application process by city planners and town councils and so on. Much easier to just buy land over in the strip where everyone's got giant parking lots and you can just add a few extra cramped lanes for the merchandise.
Car dealerships also tend to be very brightly lit, which hits a lot of NIMBY sore spots. It's much easier to go to sleep if you aren't right next to a glaring floodlight at a car dealership, so it's best if we just shove them all away from expensive residential, which means towards the loud stroads, which means... all along these two major roads/highways.
And if they're all limited to a narrow type of zoning already, they might as well take advantage of cluster marketing and just all set up shop near each other in hopes of stealing one of the other's customers.
As consumers, it's also better for us, because if we want to try out a few different cars from a few different brands, it's pretty easy to just go one building down to try out the Hyundai and see if it's better than a Chevy in the same price group.

Hackers (1995)
----
Dade Murphy hacks into a local television station⊠infiltrates the station's broadcasting system⊠and he manipulates a robotic mechanism responsible for changing video cassettes used to air programs⊠then another mysterious hacker enters the scene and Dade and the unknown hacker engage in a virtual battle for dominance.
----
Dueling HACKERS đđ» IS OUR Digital LIFE on the LINE? đšđïž
Yes it could very well be...
Our digital lives, often entrusted to large corporations, may face significant risks⊠in a recent cyber incident in 2023, two hacker groups claimed responsibility for an alleged attack on a major corporation. One hacker group asserted that they successfully compromised the target's systems and offered stolen data for sale.
----
The movie presents a stylized and exaggerated portrayal of hacking culture, where the young hackers manipulate technology to outsmart and outmaneuver law enforcement officials. The film showcases a perception that law enforcement, at least in the context of the movie, is often portrayed as being behind or clueless in understanding the world of hacking.
And let's remember the Greyball incident: Uber developed the Greyball software to determine if a user requesting an Uber ride was a potential law enforcement officer or regulator. The program used various data points, such as location information, device data, credit card details, and social media profiles, to identify individuals who might pose a threat to Uber's operations. When the program identified a potential threat, it would show a different version of the Uber app to that user. This altered version of the app would display fake cars on the map, making it difficult for the user to locate a real Uber driver.
Additionally... Greyball would provide false information about the location of Uber vehicles or show no cars available at all.
The intention behind Greyball was to obstruct and evade regulators and law enforcement officials who were attempting to enforce taxi and transportation regulations in cities where Uber faced legal challenges.
So, the Greyball incident, which occurred in the real world, involved Uber using technology to identify and circumvent law enforcement officials and regulators actively trying to enforce transportation regulations⊠it's a real-world application of tactics that mirror the fictional portrayal we see in the 1995 movie Hackers.

How Nintendo Switch 2 Is Changing Product Launches
A New Standard for Hype: How Nintendo Built Anticipation
Nintendo knows how to keep fans on edge, and with the Switch 2, it played its hand masterfully. The company didnât opt for a flashy trailer or press-heavy reveal. Instead, it created a slow drip of updates that kept speculation alive and conversations buzzing. Every whisper from industry insiders and subtle hint in financial reports fed the publicâs appetite.
This low-volume, high-intensity approach led to a natural buildup. Gamers, analysts, and content creators filled in the blanks. Nintendo let the community do the work, spreading speculation across YouTube breakdowns, Reddit threads, and Twitter posts. Even without showing the product outright, the Switch 2 gained momentum simply because Nintendo trusted the demand.
Rather than flooding the market with ads, the company leaned on mystery. It gave the audience just enough to stay curious but not enough to get bored. This restraint set the stage for one of the most tightly controlled marketing rollouts in the gaming world. What Is Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo is a globally recognized gaming company known for gaming franchises like Mario, Zelda, and PokĂ©mon. The original Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, revolutionized gaming by blending handheld and home console experiences in one device. It became a bestseller worldwide. The Nintendo Switch 2 builds on that legacy with upgraded performance, enhanced graphics, and a refined design. While official details remain limited, early previews suggest itâs aimed at pushing immersive portable gaming to a new level, continuing Nintendoâs tradition of innovation and accessibility.
Invite-Only Preorders: Scarcity Meets Strategy
When Nintendo announced that Switch 2 pre-orders would begin as invite-only through the My Nintendo Store, it wasnât just about logistics. It was a statement. Scarcity sells, and when done intentionally, it amplifies both urgency and exclusivity.
By sending early access codes to select users, Nintendo engineered a gated environment. This method ensured smoother site performance, but more importantly, it tapped into human psychology - whatâs limited becomes valuable. Preorders werenât just a checkout process, they became an event.
Instead of making the launch a frenzy of crashes and complaints, Nintendo shaped a more personalized funnel. The approach mirrors successful high-end sneaker or luxury fashion drops, proving how even gaming hardware can embrace luxury-style rollouts.
More companies are now watching closely. Invite-only systems might soon extend beyond games into gadgets, SaaS tools, and even software trials. Nintendo made scarcity feel good, not frustrating.
The Role of Community Buzz and Influencer Seeding
Nintendo has always had a strong community, but with the Switch 2, it actively turned fans into marketers. Influencers in the gaming ecosystem were subtly looped in without overt sponsorships. Content creators on Twitch and YouTube received early info nudges, potential beta access that hinted at insider status.
The result was a wave of videos speculating on design, features, and what the device would mean for developers. Viewers trust creators far more than they trust ads, and Nintendo used this to its advantage.
Memes, predictions, and reaction content filled social feeds, acting as free promotion. This âearned mediaâ gave Nintendo far more reach than any ad spend could deliver. Unlike traditional ads, fan-made content carries authenticity.
The buzz didnât just hype up the hardware - it validated it. If everyone you follow is excited, you feel you should be too. Itâs a marketing ecosystem powered by fans and reinforced by digital creators with loyal followings.
Global Launch, Local Tactics: Tailoring for Markets

Nintendo didnât treat the Switch 2 as a one-size-fits-all release. The company leaned into regional data and retailer partnerships based on past performance.
In the U.S., preorders opened early and were focused online, where most customers prefer digital shopping. Meanwhile, in parts of Europe and Asia, select in-store promotions and local-language influencer campaigns helped build regional traction.
Language support, cultural tie-ins, and country-specific bundle offers played a key role in shaping perceptions across borders. The marketing was global, but the execution felt personal.
Tech companies often struggle with synchronizing launches across continents. Nintendo, however, demonstrated that flexibility wins when each market feels uniquely catered to.
What Other Tech Brands Can Learn from Nintendo
Many brands approach launches with a checklist: post teaser, schedule ads, email the list, repeat. Nintendo proved thereâs a better way. Strategic silence, carefully planted scarcity, and influencer trust-building create more meaningful anticipation.
Consumer electronics companies often forget the emotional element. Nintendo tapped directly into nostalgia, tribal loyalty, and curiosity - the same emotional triggers that made the original Switch a cultural staple.
Tech launches should focus less on specs and more on the story. Why should a buyer care about this product? What narrative surrounds its release? Apple did it with the iPhone, and now Nintendo is doing it with gaming consoles.
Preorders can be more than sales - they can be brand-building moments. For marketers watching the Switch 2, this was a reminder that restraint can be louder than shouting.
Qwegleâs View on Launch Marketing for the Future
At Qwegle, we help tech brands prepare for exactly these kinds of shifts. The Nintendo Switch 2 is a prime example of emotional product storytelling layered with strategic scarcity. Our team believes that marketing isnât just about first impressions - itâs about lasting connections.
Through data-driven behavior tracking, customer segmentation, and creative planning, Qwegle supports tech companies looking to stand out in noisy markets. We help brands design launch experiences that speak directly to their audienceâs expectations - and exceed them. Whether youâre unveiling a gaming device or software suite, the Switch 2 teaches one clear lesson: treat your launch like a cultural moment. Thatâs the mindset Qwegle brings to every client partnership.

Why SEO Remains the Best Marketing Strategy for Businesses in New York in 2025

In 2025, the digital landscape continues to evolve, and with it, the marketing strategies that businesses rely on to connect with customers. While many marketing tactics come and go, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has proven to be a long-term strategy that provides sustainable results, especially for businesses in New York. The competition in this bustling, ever-growing city is fierce, and companies must ensure theyâre easily found by potential customers online. Here's why SEO remains the best marketing strategy for businesses in New York in 2025.
1. Increased Search Engine Dependency
As of 2025, over 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine (Source: HubSpot). This underscores the importance of being visible on search engine results pages (SERPs). With New Yorkâs highly competitive market, businesses that donât appear on the first page of search results are effectively invisible to the majority of their target audience. SEO optimizes your website to ensure your business is ranked favorably on search engines like Google, helping you gain a competitive edge.
2. Cost-Effectiveness
SEO continues to outperform paid advertising in terms of return on investment (ROI). While paid ads might give you a short-term boost, organic search (i.e., the results you get from SEO) remains one of the most cost-effective forms of online marketing. According to Statista, 70-80% of users ignore paid ads in favor of organic results. For New York businesses, the financial benefit of organic SEO is significant, especially for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that might have limited advertising budgets.
3. Enhanced User Experience (UX)
Googleâs algorithm updates have increasingly focused on rewarding websites that offer a positive user experience. This includes fast load times, mobile optimization, and easy navigation. SEO isnât just about keywords; it's also about creating a website that delivers value to your users. Businesses in New York need to invest in SEO to improve their websitesâ performance, ensuring customers stay on their pages longer, which in turn boosts rankings.
A seamless UX also helps to convert visitors into paying customers. Studies show that 53% of mobile users will abandon a website if it takes longer than three seconds to load. This means optimizing your website for speed and usability through SEO is crucial.
4. Local SEO and Hyperlocal Targeting
In 2025, local search has become more important than ever, especially for businesses in large cities like New York. People increasingly rely on their mobile devices to search for businesses ânear me.â For example, a search for âbest pizza near meâ on Google returns highly relevant local results.
SEO plays a pivotal role in local SEO, ensuring that your business appears in local search results when potential customers are actively looking for products or services in your vicinity. Optimizing for local search with strategies like Google My Business (GMB) optimization, local citations, and geo-targeted keywords allows your business to capture a significant share of the local market.
In fact, 46% of all Google searches are seeking local information, and 78% of mobile local searches lead to an offline purchase (Source: Google). This means SEO is crucial for connecting with potential customers who are ready to buy in your local area.
5. Brand Credibility and Trust
In 2025, customers are increasingly skeptical of paid ads. The rise of ad-blocking software and general distrust in online advertising has led consumers to value organic search results more than ever. When your business ranks high on SERPs, customers perceive it as a more credible and trustworthy source.
SEO allows businesses in New York to establish a strong digital presence by improving website content, gaining backlinks from reputable websites, and generating high-quality reviews. This increases the likelihood that potential customers will engage with your brand and eventually make a purchase.
6. Long-Term Results
Unlike paid ads, where you must constantly spend to stay visible, SEO can provide long-term results. When you invest in a comprehensive SEO strategy, the effects are cumulative. High-quality content, backlinks, and on-page optimization continue to pay dividends long after the initial effort. This makes SEO an ideal long-term marketing strategy for businesses in New York looking to build a lasting digital presence.
7. SEO and Mobile Optimization
With mobile traffic accounting for over 55% of all global internet traffic (Source: Statista), ensuring that your website is mobile-friendly is essential in 2025. Googleâs mobile-first indexing means that the search engine prioritizes mobile-optimized websites when ranking pages. This means New York businesses must prioritize mobile optimization as part of their overall SEO strategy.
SEO helps improve your websiteâs responsiveness, page load speeds, and mobile usability, leading to better rankings and more conversions from mobile users.
Why SEO is the Best Strategy for New York Businesses in 2025
As businesses in New York continue to compete for consumer attention, SEO remains a critical marketing strategy for success. From improving visibility on search engines to building trust with local customers, SEO provides a comprehensive solution to grow your business.
Whether youâre looking to capture more organic traffic, improve the user experience, or ensure you appear in local search results, SEO offers measurable and sustainable results that other marketing strategies cannot match. With the growing dependency on search engines and the increasing importance of local search, businesses in New York that prioritize SEO will continue to outperform their competitors in 2025 and beyond.

ABM is a powerful strategy where marketing and sales teams work collaboratively to target high-value accounts. Instead of casting a wide net, focus your resources on a select group of prospects, delivering customized campaigns that directly address their specific needs.
5. Enhance Your Digital Presence
Your online presence is often the first impression potential clients have of your business. Ensure your website is optimized for SEO, mobile-friendly, and offers a seamless user experience. Regularly update blogs, whitepapers, and case studies that demonstrate your expertise and add value to your audience.
6. Develop Multi-Channel Outreach
Gone are the days when email alone could drive sales. Todayâs B2B buyers expect communication across multiple channels, including email, phone, social media, and even in-person meetings. A well-coordinated outreach strategy ensures youâre reaching prospects wherever they are most active.
7. Invest in Value-Driven Content
Content is the backbone of B2B marketing. Create in-depth whitepapers, blogs, videos, and case studies that address the challenges your prospects face. Use content as a tool to educate and build trust, positioning your business as a thought leader in your industry.
8. Strengthen Sales Enablement
Empower your sales team with the tools, resources, and training they need to succeed. This includes access to up-to-date product information, buyer personas, and data-driven insights that can help them tailor their pitch to individual prospects.
9. Leverage Data Analytics
Incorporate data-driven insights into every stage of your sales funnel. Use analytics tools to track customer behavior, identify trends, and refine your strategies. This approach ensures youâre always making informed decisions that drive results.
10. Collaborate with Strategic Partners
Partnering with complementary businesses can open doors to new opportunities. For instance, a software provider could partner with a consulting firm to offer bundled services, creating value for both companies and their customers.
11. Focus on Customer Retention
Itâs often said that retaining a customer is more cost-effective than acquiring a new one. Implement loyalty programs, provide excellent post-sale support, and continuously engage with your existing customers to ensure they remain loyal advocates for your brand.
12. Harness the Power of Video Marketing
Video content is increasingly becoming a preferred medium for B2B buyers. Use explainer videos, product demos, and client testimonials to engage prospects and communicate your value proposition effectively.
13. Encourage Referrals
Happy customers can become your best brand ambassadors. Develop a referral program that incentivizes your existing clients to recommend your services to their network.
14. Monitor Competitors
Keeping a close eye on your competitors can provide valuable insights. Identify whatâs working for them and where they might be falling short. Use this information to refine your strategies and gain a competitive edge.
15. Expand Internationally
If your business hasnât explored international markets yet, 2025 might be the year to do so. Develop localized strategies to address the specific needs and cultural preferences of global audiences.
16. Use Social Proof to Build Credibility
Social proof, such as client testimonials, success stories, and case studies, plays a crucial role in establishing trust. Showcase these prominently on your website and marketing materials to demonstrate your capabilities.
17. Align Sales and Marketing Teams
Silos between sales and marketing teams can hinder your growth. Align their goals and encourage collaboration to create a seamless journey from lead generation to conversion.
18. Host Webinars and Events
Webinars and events are excellent ways to educate your audience, showcase your expertise, and generate new leads. Offer valuable insights during these sessions to leave a lasting impression on your prospects.
19. Optimize Pricing Strategies
Your pricing strategy should cater to different customer segments. Offer tiered packages, volume discounts, or subscription models to accommodate varying budgets and requirements.
20. Partner with Industry Experts
Collaborate with B2B sales and lead generation experts like The Global Associates. With a proven track record of delivering high-quality leads and helping businesses achieve their sales goals, partnering with such firms ensures your strategy is backed by experience and expertise.

How Do Private Investigators Track Cell Phones?
Private investigators (PIs) are known for their resourcefulness and ability to uncover information that may seem out of reach for the average person. Among their many skills, tracking cell phones has become a critical tool in modern investigations. Whether working on cases involving missing persons, fraud, infidelity, or corporate espionage, PIs often rely on cell phone tracking to collect crucial evidence.
But how do private investigators track cell phones? This blog explores the techniques, tools, and ethical considerations involved in this sensitive process.
1. The Basics of Cell Phone Tracking
Cell phone tracking involves determining the location of a device by utilizing the technology it relies on to functionâcell towers, GPS, and Wi-Fi networks. Smartphones emit signals that can be intercepted or analyzed to pinpoint their location. While law enforcement agencies have sophisticated tools and legal authority for tracking, private investigators often use alternative methods that stay within legal boundaries.
2. Common Techniques Used by Private Investigators
a. GPS Tracking
GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking is one of the most accurate ways to locate a cell phone. Many modern devices come equipped with built-in GPS chips that constantly communicate with satellites to determine their location. Private investigators might use the following approaches to access GPS data:
Authorized Access: If a private investigator has legal permission (e.g., from the device owner), they can use GPS tracking apps to monitor the phone's location. This is common in cases of missing persons or parental tracking of children.
Location-Sharing Apps: Some apps, like Find My iPhone or Google Find My Device, allow users to share their location. A PI might assist clients in accessing these features, provided they have the right credentials or consent.
b. Cell Tower Triangulation
Cell phones connect to nearby towers for communication, and the distance to these towers can be used to approximate the device's location. By analyzing signal strength from multiple towers, a process known as triangulation can determine the phone's general whereabouts.
Private investigators might collaborate with telecommunications providers to request such data, but this typically requires proper legal justification, such as a subpoena or court order.
c. Wi-Fi Positioning Systems (WPS)
Many modern devices use Wi-Fi signals for location tracking when GPS is unavailable. By identifying the networks a phone connects to, investigators can narrow down the location. This technique is particularly useful in urban areas, where Wi-Fi networks are abundant.
d. Mobile Applications
Private investigators may use third-party apps designed for tracking. These apps often require installation on the target device, making their use legally and ethically complex. Popular tracking apps include:
mSpy: Often marketed for parental control, this app can monitor a phoneâs location, messages, and activity.
FlexiSPY: Offers advanced tracking features, but its use must comply with local laws.
Such software is generally legal only if used with the consent of the device owner.
e. Social Engineering
In some cases, private investigators might rely on social engineering techniques to gain access to location data. For example, they might trick the target into sharing their location via a deceptive message or link. While this is less common among reputable PIs, it highlights the importance of staying vigilant against such tactics.
3. Advanced Tracking Methods
a. IMEI and SIM Tracking
Every mobile device has a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. Similarly, SIM cards have unique identifiers that can be traced through the network. Private investigators may use IMEI or SIM tracking to locate a device if they have access to the necessary records or tools.
b. Stingray Devices
A Stingray is a portable device that mimics a cell tower, tricking nearby phones into connecting to it. Law enforcement agencies commonly use this technology, but private investigators typically avoid it due to its invasive nature and legal restrictions.
c. Geofencing
Geofencing creates a virtual perimeter around a specific area. If a device enters or exits this area, it triggers an alert. This technique can be used with GPS or mobile app tracking and is often employed in cases involving surveillance or asset protection.
4. Legal and Ethical Considerations
Tracking cell phones is a highly regulated activity due to privacy concerns. Private investigators must adhere to strict legal and ethical guidelines to avoid violating rights or committing crimes.
a. Consent
In most jurisdictions, private investigators can track a cell phone only with the consent of the device owner. For example, a parent might authorize tracking of their childâs phone, or an employer might monitor company-owned devices used by employees.
b. Privacy Laws
Privacy laws vary by country and region but generally prohibit unauthorized tracking. In the United States, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) regulates the interception of electronic communications, including location data. Similarly, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the EU sets strict rules on personal data collection.
c. Ethical Practices
Reputable private investigators follow ethical practices to maintain professionalism and protect client interests. This includes:
Avoiding illegal tracking methods.
Respecting the privacy of non-consenting individuals.
Providing clear disclosures about the methods used.
Unethical practices, such as installing spyware without consent, can lead to legal repercussions and damage the investigatorâs reputation.
5. The Role of Technology
Technology plays a central role in cell phone tracking. From software solutions to hardware tools, PIs have access to a wide range of resources that make their work more efficient. Some commonly used technologies include:
Tracking Apps: As mentioned earlier, these apps offer location-sharing features for authorized users.
Surveillance Tools: Tools like GPS trackers or geofencing systems allow investigators to monitor movement discreetly.
Data Analysis Software: PIs often use software to analyze call records, SMS logs, or app usage patterns, which can provide indirect clues about a personâs location.
6. Challenges in Cell Phone Tracking
Despite advancements, cell phone tracking comes with its challenges:
a. Legal Barriers
Obtaining location data without proper authorization can lead to legal consequences, limiting the methods available to private investigators.
b. Technological Limitations
Signal Interference: GPS tracking may not work in areas with poor satellite coverage, such as tunnels or densely packed buildings.
Device Security: Modern smartphones are equipped with advanced security features that prevent unauthorized access to location data.
c. Ethical Dilemmas
Balancing client demands with ethical considerations can be tricky. Investigators must ensure they donât overstep boundaries while fulfilling their obligations.
7. Real-World Applications
Private investigators use cell phone tracking in various scenarios:
a. Missing Persons
Cell phone location data can provide vital clues in locating missing individuals, especially in time-sensitive cases.
b. Infidelity Investigations
PIs often track cell phones to gather evidence of infidelity. For example, GPS data might reveal that a spouse visited a suspicious location.
c. Corporate Investigations
In cases of corporate fraud or espionage, tracking company-owned devices can help identify rogue employees or uncover unauthorized activities.
d. Stalking and Harassment Cases
Cell phone tracking can help victims of stalking or harassment by identifying the perpetratorâs movements and providing evidence for legal action.
8. How to Protect Yourself from Unwanted Tracking
While private investigators are bound by legal and ethical guidelines, not everyone operates within the law. To protect yourself from unauthorized tracking:
Disable Location Services: Turn off GPS and location-sharing features when not needed.
Secure Your Device: Use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and regularly update your phoneâs software.
Avoid Suspicious Links: Be cautious about clicking on unknown links or downloading apps from unverified sources.
Use Anti-Spyware Apps: These can detect and remove tracking software from your device.
9. Conclusion
Private investigators play an essential role in uncovering the truth, and cell phone tracking is one of the many tools they use to achieve their goals. However, this practice requires a delicate balance of skill, technology, and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
For individuals and organizations seeking the services of a PI, itâs crucial to ensure they work with professionals who operate transparently and within the law. At the same time, understanding the methods and limitations of cell phone tracking can help protect your privacy and make informed decisions when hiring an investigator.
By staying informed about the capabilities and boundaries of cell phone tracking, you can better navigate the complexities of this modern investigative tool.

Smart Growth: Cost-Saving Expansion Tactics for Startups
For any growing startup, scaling up in a cost-effective way is a dream and a dilemma. These young businesses aim to boost their reach and operations. The big question is: Can they increase their team size without burning through their budget? This is where staff augmentation comes in. It's a practical, flexible method that lets startups grow without breaking the bank.
A Look at Startup Expansion Pitfalls
Take a fictional startup, ByteWave, as a case in point. Three university pals had a fantastic idea for a cloud-based service and ByteWave was born. After a year, their user base ballooned to 50,000. This explosive growth brought a heap of operational headaches. ByteWave's tiny 12-member team was swamped, battling to stay afloat amidst demands for customer support, software updates, and fresh feature rollouts.
Traditional hiring seemed the logical move. However, it's a costly option. The Society for Human Resource Management estimates the average cost of recruiting a new U.S. worker is $4,129, taking an average of 42 days. For a startup like ByteWave, this approach was simply out of reach in terms of time and budget.
The Benefits of Staff Augmentation
Staff augmentation is a far more efficient solution. It gives startups the flexibility to temporarily hire skilled personnel for key roles. ByteWave could quickly bring in specialist developers and customer service agents for specific projects. This gave the founders the ability to dynamically scale their team, tackling particular problems without the delays and costs of full-time recruitment.
A Smart Financial Move
Staff augmentation brings significant savings. Deloitte's research shows businesses can save as much as 30% in labor costs by adopting flexible staffing models. These cost cuts result from reduced essential overheads like benefits, office space, and training costs. Plus, it speeds up time-to-market. Deloitte's study also discovered projects are completed 20-25% quicker with staff augmentation, giving startups a crucial competitive edge.
Success Stories
Numerous real-world examples demonstrate how startups have used staff augmentation effectively:
Airbnb: To boost user appeal, Airbnb brought in freelance photographers to produce quality property listings, enhancing the platform's appeal without having to recruit full-time photographers.
Slack: During a critical period of rapid growth, Slack used remote contractors to provide 24/7 customer support, avoiding the costs of a large, permanent team.
Uber: Expanding into new locations, Uber used local contractors for tasks such as driver onboarding and market research, allowing fast growth without the long-term overheads of permanent local staffing.
Steps to Implement Staff Augmentation
If you're a startup considering staff augmentation, follow these practical steps:
Be Transparent: Define the needed skills and roles. This helps you find the right talent.
Choose Wisely: Partner with reliable staffing agencies or platforms that are familiar with your industry. They can quickly hook you up with vetted professionals.
Foster a Team Spirit: Treat augmented staff as integral team members. Make sure they attend meetings, have the necessary tools and keep communication lines open.
Be Clear: Set out the scope, deadlines, and deliverables for each project. This ensures all parties are on the same page and promotes effective collaboration.
Share Knowledge: Ensure the knowledge and experience that the temporary staff bring is shared with your permanent team.
Challenge Navigation
Staff augmentation, while beneficial, is not without its obstacles. Here's how to address them:
Building the Team: Temporary staff might not naturally fit into your company culture. To bridge this gap, include them in team activities and clearly communicate your values and aims.
Maintaining Standards: Keep high-quality work by setting clear quality benchmarks, and conducting regular work reviews.
Data Protection: Safeguard critical information with strict NDAs and limit access to crucial systems.
Employee Relations: Permanent team members might feel uneasy about temporary staff. Be clear about the roles of augmented staff and stress that they are an additional resource, not a threat to the core team.
The Way Forward
The move towards flexible work arrangements is increasing. An Upwork study predicts that by 2028, 73% of all teams will include remote workers. This factors make staff augmentation an appealing option for startups. Tools for remote project management and communication like Trello, Asana, and Slack are helping facilitate this shift, allowing efficient collaboration regardless of location.
Conclusion
Staff augmentation can be a lifesaver for startups trying to expand while preserving their budgets. It permits them to bring in specialized skills as needed, accelerate growth, and compete effectively without long-term financial commitments.

End Spoofing
The Portland JCC, which also houses the local Jewish Day School, was swatted today. Elsewhere, the mom of a friend of mine nearly got victimized by a scam where someone used voice-altering software to impersonate her daughter and beg for money after she was "in a car accident". It's no mystery that these sorts of scams seem to be on the rise, and seem to be increasingly sophisticated. And I doubt I'm giving any hot take when I say that these scammers are absolutely, 100%, the lowest of the low. One common tactic in these thugs' repertoire's is "spoofing" -- basically, impersonating another number when they call you, so it shows up on Caller ID as your doctor or the IRS or a customer support center (or just hides the actual number that the person is calling from). I don't know whether spoofing was involved in either of the above incidents. But I'm increasingly of the mind that we might need to just ban spoofing outright. I'm aware of the legitimate reasons for spoofing. A business wants a call to register as emanating from their main line, not whatever back office is calling you. Or someone working from home still wants to be identified as calling from their company, not their personal cellphone. I even can understand some cases where spoofing may have anti-fraud properties (it lets me know that the call is coming from someone at Aetna, which I may be disinclined to believe if the phone number is the random area code of wherever the nurse went to high school). But at this stage, I just don't see those real benefits as outweighing the costs. It doesn't seem like the phone companies have any real way to distinguish "bad" spoofing from good. And while I don't actually know the mechanics (so what I say next might be entirely wrong), it seems to me that it would be technologically-easier to simply ban the practice outright -- create no mechanism through which phone calls can "identify" themselves as anything but their unique actual phone number -- than to engage in what seems to be a losing game of whack-a-mole. And sure, I know in my heart that this is probably a lot more complicated than I realize (though I do genuinely believe that it's one of those things where, if there was some serious government regulatory muscle behind it, you'd see the telecom providers hop to it). But one of the joys of aging is that I get to cantankerously grumble about problems and just demand they be fixed, and I'm leaning in. via The Debate Link https://ift.tt/WqlrTzE

Decoding SEO vs Local SEO for Marketers
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become an essential marketing strategy for businesses aiming to improve their online presence. However, not all SEO strategies are created equal. General SEO and Local SEO target different audiences, goals, and tactics. For marketers, understanding the difference between the two is crucial for designing campaigns that truly deliver.
We will decode SEO vs Local SEO, exploring what each entails, how they differ, and why both matter in todayâs digital marketing landscape.
What is SEO? An Overview
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the practice of improving a websiteâs visibility on search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. The goal is to attract organic traffic by ranking higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). SEO encompasses a wide range of activities including keyword research, content creation, on-page optimization (like meta tags and headers), technical SEO, and backlink building. Itâs a holistic approach designed to enhance a websiteâs authority and relevance across broad topics or industries.
Marketers use SEO to reach national or global audiences, driving traffic regardless of physical location. For example, an online software company targeting users worldwide will focus on general SEO to maximize reach and sales.
Understanding Local SEO
Local SEO focuses on optimizing a website to rank well for searches tied to a specific geographic location. This is vital for businesses that serve customers in particular cities, towns, or neighborhoods, like restaurants, salons, or law firms. Local SEO strategies include optimizing Google My Business profiles, acquiring local citations, generating reviews, and embedding local keywords (e.g., âbest pizza in Chicagoâ). The goal is to show up in the âLocal Packâ or map listings that appear for geo-specific queries.
For marketers, local SEO means tailoring campaigns to connect businesses with nearby customers actively seeking local products or services. Itâs about visibility in proximity-driven searches, often leading to higher conversion rates due to immediate relevance.
Key Differences in Keyword Strategy
SEO and local SEO differ substantially in keyword focus. Traditional SEO often targets broad, high-volume keywords (like ârunning shoesâ) aimed at a wide audience.
Local SEO keywords are more specific and include geographic modifiersâthink ârunning shoes near meâ or ârunning shoes in Denver.â These keywords reflect a searcherâs intent to find nearby options and often include ânear meâ or city names. Marketers must understand that local SEO requires in-depth research into local search habits and incorporating local language nuances. Tools like Googleâs Keyword Planner and Mozâs Local Keyword Finder can help uncover these location-based queries to drive relevant traffic.
On-Page Optimization Differences
On-page SEO involves optimizing content and HTML source code. For general SEO, this means targeting broad topics with keywords sprinkled naturally across pages, creating high-quality content, and ensuring excellent user experience. Local SEO on-page efforts go further by including NAP (Name, Address, Phone number) consistency, embedding maps, and adding localized schema markup. Titles and meta descriptions often include location names to increase relevance in local searches.
Marketers should focus on creating content that answers local questions, includes events, or features local landmarks to build trust with the community and improve local rankings.
Importance of Google My Business and Local Citations
Google My Business (GMB) is a cornerstone of local SEO, allowing businesses to manage their online presence on Google Maps and search results. An optimized GMB profile with accurate information, photos, posts, and regular reviews can dramatically boost local visibility. Local citationsâmentions of your businessâs NAP on other websites, directories, and social platformsâfurther validate your businessâs existence and trustworthiness to search engines.
While general SEO focuses more on backlinks and domain authority, local SEO relies heavily on these local signals to rank well in localized search results. Marketers should prioritize GMB optimization and citation building as part of local SEO campaigns.
The Role of Reviews and Reputation Management
Customer reviews play an outsized role in local SEO. Positive reviews not only build consumer trust but also influence search engine rankings. Google considers review quantity, quality, and recency when ranking local businesses. For marketers, managing online reputation is criticalâencouraging satisfied customers to leave reviews, responding promptly to feedback, and addressing negative comments professionally.
In general SEO, reviews may matter less directly but can still impact brand perception and conversion rates. Local SEO elevates reviews as a key trust factor that helps drive foot traffic and leads.
Measuring Success: SEO vs Local SEO Metrics
Both SEO and local SEO require monitoring, but the key performance indicators (KPIs) can differ. General SEO focuses on organic traffic, keyword rankings, backlinks, and domain authority. Local SEO metrics often emphasize visibility in the Local Pack, number of map views, clicks to call, driving directions requests, and local website visits.
Marketers should use tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and GMB Insights to track these KPIs and adjust strategies accordingly to maximize ROI for both SEO types.
Conclusion: Why Marketers Need Both Strategies
SEO and local SEO are not mutually exclusiveâthey complement each other. For businesses aiming for wide-reaching national exposure, general SEO is essential. Meanwhile, local SEO ensures those businesses capture attention from nearby, ready-to-buy customers.
youtube
Marketers must understand the unique tactics, tools, and goals behind each to craft effective, integrated campaigns. In an increasingly competitive digital environment, leveraging both SEO and local SEO strategies enables brands to connect with audiences at every stageâfrom broad awareness to local conversion.
Mastering the nuances between SEO and local SEO empowers marketers to deliver relevant content, increase visibility, and drive growthâno matter where their customers are searching from.

Hungary to march in defiance of Prime Minister's Pride ban
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/hungary-to-march-in-defiance-of-prime-ministers-pride-ban/
Hungary to march in defiance of Prime Minister's Pride ban
Despite a police ban, facial recognition threats, and new anti-LGBTQ+ laws pushed through by Hungaryâs right-wing government, Budapest Pride is going ahead.
Tens of thousands are expected to march on 28 June, in what organisers and allies describe not just as a celebration â but an act of defiance.
âThe Capital Local Government will organise the Budapest Pride Holiday as a local event on 28 June, the Hungarian Freedom Day. Period,â said the cityâs liberal mayor Gergely KarĂĄcsony, in a post rejecting police attempts to cancel the event again.
âFreedom and love cannot be banned,â he added in another post.
The âDay of Freedomâ
The mayorâs decision to host the âDay of Freedomâ as a municipal event is a tactical workaround after Hungaryâs parliament â dominated by Prime Minister Viktor OrbĂĄnâs Party â passed new laws in March allowing police to ban LGBTQ+ marches under the guise of âchild protectionâ.
Under the law, which builds on a 2021 ban on the âpromotion of homosexualityâ in public, police can fine participants identified via facial recognition software up to about $874 AUD.
âThe protection of children trumps all other laws,â OrbĂĄnâs communications chief Tamas Menczer told news portal 444, according to BBC.
âAnd in that spirit we changed the laws, we make politics, and we will act in future.
âPride has nothing to do with freedom of expression or freedom of assembly⊠Pride is a festival, the festival of a certain sexual community, which is not suitable to be seen by children.â
Image: Left, spokesperson of Budapest Pride, Måté HegedƱs. Right, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karåcsony / Facebook.
Organisers remain undeterredÂ
Since March, when the law outlawing Pride and similar events passed, human rights groups have been in a tug-of-war with authorities. But organisers remain undeterred.
Måté HegedƱs, spokesperson of Budapest Pride, said in a statement:
âIt is our constitutional right to gather peacefully, to be together, and to march for our human dignity and our fundamental rights.â
âAnd that is what we will do on June 28, courageously, authentically, organising our community.â
âTogether with Budapest, we will defend ourselves and those who are now afraid, those who are now silent, those who are now in danger.â
The Hungarian Helsinki Committee (HHC), (Hungarian Civil Liberties Union) and SLA (Streetlawyer Association) have advised anyone attending the Day of Freedom to refuse to accept any on-the-spot fines.
Instead, they recommend waiting for official postal notification, then requesting an in-person appeal with the police â or escalating to court if needed.
International support grows
The Budapest showdown has triggered a wave of international solidarity. In London, a âSolidarity Prideâ rally is to be held outside the Hungarian Embassy on 21 June, exactly one week before the march.
Organised by the Peter Tatchell Foundation, the event will bring together LGBTQ+ groups, campaigners, and allies from across the UK.
âThis protest is a message to the Hungarian leader Viktor OrbĂĄn that the ban on Budapest Pride violates the EUâs charter of fundamental rights,â Veteran activist Peter Tatchell said.
âWe stand in solidarity with Hungarian LGBT+ people and demand an end to state repression.â
Kati Holland, a Hungarian activist who will travel to London for the rally, said that the Hungarian government is âusing the law as a weapon against LGBT+ peopleâ.
âWe are fighting for our dignity, freedom and right to exist. Solidarity from the UK means the world to us,â she said.
Meanwhile, as many as 70 Members of the European Parliament from liberal, left and green parties have pledged to attend Budapest Pride in person.
Attending countries will include Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Ukraine, and more.
In a debate at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, MEPs slammed Hungaryâs actions as a violation of EU laws on assembly and anti-discrimination.

The stakes in 2025
Rights groups say the new laws have effectively turned the constitution into an instrument of propaganda and repression.
This is unsurprising, given OrbĂĄnâs history of being âone of Europeâs most anti-LGBT politiciansâ .
Budapest Pride, once a vibrant celebration of visibility, has now become a test case for freedom of expression and democratic resistance.
Come 28 June, it will be clear: Hungaryâs queer community has no plans to disappear.
