She messed up the timeline!
sum: Au where Spider doesn't become friends with the sully kids, however, he becomes friends with another kid’s family, who treats him right.
Eywa did not like the future.
Being omnipotent meant that she could see and hear everything, and that meant the future too, she could see the future, she created the future, but it was the destiny to guide it. She could create it, not design it, she could only see the destiny do their work.
But she indeed doesn't like the future ahead of the child she was watching. He was a baby, a newborn, still in his mother’s arms crying because he just came into the world his mother offered him.
His cheeks were white (thanks to the fluids, although there was a bit of blood, and anyway they were beginning to be red) and he had his eyes closed, when he would have open them, they will be blue or grey, kinda like Eywa’s other children in the est cost.
His skin was still covered in the birth blood and fluids, and he was curled to his mother firmly, an assistant tried to remove him, for the washing routine, but as soon as her hands were on this baby, he cried even more lauder. The must-be father of this child, rolled his eyes and made a sharky comment, and then got out of the birthing room.
As the mother of the child handed over her baby to the assistant, tears were scrolling down her face. Humans were different from na’vis, they could do the act of mating with every person they wanted, and although they united their souls for all eternity in a promise, many times they break it. That is why Eywa dropped humanity, leaving themselves to solve their own problems, as revenge they now came to her new children’s world.
The baby stopped his crying, and he now was returned to his mother, who gave him a horrible name, Eywa did not like the sound of it, the baby curling on his birthing mother reminded the great Mother of an earth insect, araneon.
Poor child, both his parents would have died in the following months, and his future was full of horrible moments, all thanks to another set of kids that weren't even born yet, and a child who could not bring herself to watch behind the baby human skin.
But what could Eywa ever do? it was his destiny...
But...she is the great mother, she is Eywa! She can change his destiny!
The years flow, as always, he was now three years old, the humans give him the nickname Araneo but in English, he is such a beautiful baby, he gots blonde and curly hairs, brown eyes, and a contagious laughter. He could now run, and dance, and talk, and do so many things!
His adoptive parents weren't the ones that were destined to be, Eywa might or might have not killed the both of them during the great war.
it wasn't that much of a problem anyway, as the humans would have said, those two were “scum bags” or something like that.
Anyway, the couple who adopted him, was two very much nice womans, united to each other, they could not have a biological heir, and that was on Eywa, when she created humans, she didn't do them intersex like na’vis. At the time she didn't though it was the great idea it really was.
Oh well, anyway, the day that he was destined to meet Kiri, who would have then led him to her brothers, came.
Eywa had to get in the body of Abeni, one of the mothers of Spider.
it wasn’t complicated to spot him, he was playing ‘jumping’ in the hallway, not too far from the door.
As she picked him up, the door of the lab opened, Kiri was in Jake’s arms as he was coudicing her to Grace’s avatar body.
Luckily, Jake didn't know Abeni, so he simply ignored her. Altrought Kiri did everything in her power to see her, she was Kiri, she knew who she was under Abeni’s body.
Eywa needed to be careful with Spider, only a glimpse of Kiri’s tail could sabotage her plan.
“Manga Spider, kem si nga new-” she tried to say whispering, the fact that she could only speak na’vi wasn't a problem, all of her children could understand her, plus Spider knew a little of na’vi.
hey Spider, do you want-
“Yes, i want!” he said, even before she could finish her words, it was nap time so he would have accepted everything she would have said.
he was anyway trying to look behind Abeni’s shoulders, to look at Kiri, the destiny was doing this act, but Eywa was smarter, she could easily point him to the other way, there was no way he could turn his head all that way.
“who entered?” he asked with his tiny voice, but the mother was quick enough to enter, Abeni and jiā huì room.
The walls of the room were of a beige color, the only color on them were from Spider little drawings and scribbles.
The main bed was at the center of the room, a big comfortable bed designed for two adult humans. The covers were of a light yellow and the pillows were as white as clouds.
Next to it, at the first wall there was Spider crib, built with wood of the burden hometree of the Omatikaya clan. The covers were light yellow too and there was a pillow that was orange. All in the box, toys.
And a big yellow bear? With a red shirt. As soon as Spider saw it, he became fussy, wanting to be put into the crib.
Eywa placed him delicately on his tiny bed, and he immediately went to grab the toy, showing it to the mother.
"Winnie bo!" He said, handing it over to her, at the touch it was comfortable and his yellow fake fur was funny to look at, this was a funny bear.
Spider then pointed to the magic box that made imagines move, the name television.
"Winnie bo!" he repeats
You can't disobey a child’s request, so she had to search for a way to open the television.
For her sake, jiā huì entered the room.
"Everything okay?" She asked, looking at her wife body with worry.
And Eywa obligated the body to nod, she knew that possesing it for this long would have taken great energy. And she could feel the legs ready to give out, she only sitted in the bed and pointed at Spider.
jiā huì looked at her son, and a loving smile came on her face.
The love of a mother was something else, a too much dangerous power.
Only a glimpse of her son and jiā huì began to smile, and he wasn't even biologically hers.
It was too complicated to describe, and the body was too tired.
Eywa let the body lay down on the bed, meanwhile before letting it fall asleep, she watched attentively as jiā huì put the silly bear, and as the body’s eyes closed, she could hear Spider giggles when the silly bear appeared on the magic box.

tips for getting people to like your ocs
*disclaimer: this is based on what’s worked for me, aka an artist that likes to make comics/storyboards. so this advice is directed at people who do that
you can do things like this:
Tumblr media
Which is fun! Character sheets like this are great, especially for personal reference! But frankly, I don’t think most people engage with this (at least I personally don’t). You could have the coolest character in the world, but it will be harder for most people to feel invested when they’re presented so neutrally like this.
My main piece of advice is: get better at writing.
That might sound harsh when said like that, but let me explain what I mean! (Not trying to imply you’re bad at writing either!)
What I tend to do is just throw characters into situations with as little handholding as I can. Give enough context that readers can follow along, but don’t feel like they’re being explained to.
what can you learn about the characters through their designs alone? (age, personality, economic status, occupation, etc)
what can you learn about the characters’ relationship though their interactions alone? (are they close? familial? romantic? is there hostility? are they tense/relaxed?)
what are the characters currently doing? what were they doing previously (how long have they been talking)? what are they going to do next? can you convey this without dialogue?
how do they feel about what they are doing? are they content? focused? over/understimulated? would they rather be doing something else?
where are they? does it matter? would establishing a setting in at least one panel clarify the scene? is there anything in the enviroment that could tell some of the story?
what time of day is it? what time of year is it? what is the weather like?
Now, with all this in mind, I'm going to give you another example. I'm going to use completely brand new characters for the sake of the experiment, so you won't have any bias (aka I can’t use Protagonist from above, since you already know all about him).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did this get more of an emotional response from you than the first example? Why do you think so? Who are these characters? How do they know each other? What else can you infer about them? What happened? Who is "she"?
Now, you don't have to actually answer all those questions. But think about them! You can tell people a whole lot about your characters without ever showing them a list of their likes and dislikes.
Obviously, comics aren't the only way to get people invested in your original characters! But regardless, easily digestible formats will grab people's attention faster than huge blocks of text, and comics are a lot less work than doing wholeass storyboards.
Now go and share your ocs with the world!!!

i vote that next year instead of reading Dracula we do a Jeeves & Wooster Book Club. those two never got the rabid tumblr shipping fandom they deserved (disqualified for the sheer technicality of being published a century too soon). we must correct this injustice

Have you drawn Vittorio before? I'd like to see what he looks like pls.
Tumblr media
Vittorio's design has given me more trouble than I expected, I'm still not sure if I'm happy with his looks. He's Machete's trusted personal secretary, a small and modest but resourceful and resilient man. I think he's somewhere in his mid 20's.

Wedding day
TOOK ME, a week to actually write down this idea
what happened before?
so, during the events of avatar to avatar 2, Spider and Neteyam began a secret relationship, who was quickly discovered by; Tuk, Lo'ak and Kiri. After Spider re-united with the sullies at the end of avatar 2, he and Neteyam pick up right where they left off, only this time they decided to tell Jake and Neytiri everything. Jake accepted it in a matter of a week but Neytiri was not having it, she accepted their relationship only after putting Spider under stupids task, like hunting at least 50 fishes in the matter of a day. When she accepted the relationship, she finally accepted Spider too, but not (Luckly) as her son but as her son-in-law, which was more than okay with Spider. With the power of friendship and love, they defeat Quaritch and the RDA, with the help of other clans too. Now humans and na'vi are in peace, so much that some of them adopts orphans human, things are going so well that Neytiri and Jake decides to have another child, which name is Roy'röy, nicknamed Roy. When he is almost four months, Spider officially asked Neteyam to become his mate, thanks to the fact that he had now an avatar, unfortelly the day he should have transferred in it, a week before the mating ceremony, he have a little incident with his ikran and the avatar body is too much damaged to move for a while. So since they invited at least three clans and all of them came from very afar, the ceremony was not canceled.
"Are you nervous?" Kiri asked as she placed ornaments on Spider's fidgety body.
"What? No," he responded quickly, though his tone betrayed his anxiety.
"It's okay to be nervous. I was too," Mo'at intervenient, weaving flowers with Tuk for Spider and Neteyam's future Marui, which would be inaugurated the day after to mark the beginning of their life together.
Amidst the preparations, Spider and Neteyam had totally forgotten about this important task, aka tradition. Fortunately, Mo'at and Tuk had started the flowers a week earlier for them.
"Can you guys remind me why I have to do all this in the human body?" Spider Requested to know, even tho he knew why, Neytiri gently slapped the back of his neck.
"Because your Avatar body got injured from you jumping off your ikran. It will take months to heal completely, and Max says both legs can't function properly at the moment," she explained, slightly annoyed at him, she had to think about so many things lately.
"It seemed like a good idea at the time! Why don't we just postpone the ceremony and everything?" Spider suggested while starting to paint his chest with the warm celebrities' colors.
"Three clans have come here just for you!" Kiri exclaimed, giving him a little push at Spider's suggestion.
"But—" Spider tried to say, but Tuk expressed her annoyance and blew a raspberry at him.
"Done," Kiri announced, stepping back to admire her painting masterpiece. Mo'at, Tuk, and Neytiri joined her, appreciating the work they had just done on Spider's body throughout the morning.
"Nete did all of this by himself, without help" Tuk pointed out, and Kiri shared a funny look with her.
"Can we go now?" Spider asked, and Mo'at nodded. "It's time."
The four of them made their way to the location chosen for the ceremony.
According to tradition, Jake and Neytiri, as the one of the spouse's parents, had the authority to decide the first ceremony's location. Usually, the second location was determined by the other mate's parents, but in Spider's case, since he was an orphan, only Jake and Neytiri could decide.
As they walked, Spider couldn't help but notice the flowers adorning the tree branches—a tradition of the Omaticaya clan.
the trees were beautiful, and the children playing and putting the remaining flowers.
Finally, they arrived at the place, and Spider immediately spotted Tsireya and her family. Tsireya and Lo'ak were engrossed in conversation, likely flirting, while Ronal struggled to keep her four-year-old son, Iwi, still. Tonowari and Aounung were engaged in a conversation with Tarsem, while Tarsem's eight-year-old human daughter attempted to climb on her father, seeking his attention. Spider chuckled, watching her struggle to avoid falling to the ground.
Then he spotted Neteyam, Spider saw that his body was painted and decorated with the same traditional ornaments as him. However, Neteyam had additional ornaments on his tail, which Spider didn't have at the moment.
they were really glowing on him, yellow flowers united with the same long stem, that were twisted together above his loincloth.
Tuk immediately ran over to his father, who was next to Neteyam, adjusting a few things with the help of Ninat. Roy'röy, who was only a year old, was also assisting his older brother, perched in his father's arms.
he was picking the flower that he could reach, lick them, and then put them back on Neteyam.
As they approached, Neytiri picked up Roy and gave a kiss to Jake, observing Neteyam making final adjustments to his clothing.
"Hi," Spider greeted, approaching with Mo'at and Kiri by his side. Neteyam, distracted by Ninat, turned his head to face Spider.
"Hi, I missed you," Neteyam voiced, kneeling down to be face to face with his partner. He gave Spider a quick kiss on the head before shifting his attention back to Spider's body, an expression of discontent crossing his face.
"I don't want to mate in this body. It's too fragile," he voiced his concerns. Kiri, seemingly annoyed, rolled her eyes.
"Hey!" Spider protested. The comment about fragility definitely wasn't his, but Neteyam glared at him. "Do you want to have sex in this body?" he boldly asked, causing Spider to swallow hard before shaking his head vigorously.
"Well, dear brother, if your fiancé hadn't pulled that trick with his ikran on his CEREMONY DAY, maybe, and I stress maybe, you guys could have the avatar body now," Kiri remarked, placing her hands on Spider's shoulders. Spider and Neteyam both sighed heavily.
Lo'ak approached. "Hey, guys, are you ready? Everyone else is, so we should get settled," he suggested, and Mo'at nodded.
The ceremony of introduction to the soon acts was quickly and embarrassing, but Norm found it so funny that his mate Pilyê had to put her hands on his mouth to not let him disturb.
Finally, they all settled down to eat. Spider and Neteyam were placed at the center of the eating area, with lanterns hanging from the branches above them, illuminating the two of them and everyone around them.
(According to Tarsem, the lanterns were the best thing ever created.)
The only contact they had was with Neytiri, who brought them food fresh from the brazier not too far away from them.
As Spider ate, Neteyam grabbed his hand and squeezed it tightly.
"We won't have sex tonight" he whispered.
Under different circumstances, Spider might have responded sarcastically, but now he simply adjusted his posture and observed his mate, squeezing Neteyam's hand in return.
"Your grandma and Ronal will totally understand if we didn't do it," Spider remember him. Neteyam clicked his tongue in response.
"Then we'll ignore them, but I'm sure they will understand. I don't want to put you in any form of danger," the blue one explained.
"Are you, by any chance, bragging about how big your dick is?" Spider asked jokingly, causing Neteyam to burst into laughter and nod his head.
The night was simple. They visited the Tree of Souls, prayed, and fell asleep together, cuddling with each other. Spider felt incredibly happy and at ease when no one said anything to them the next day.
Either Eywa had heard their thoughts and prayers the night before, or Mo'at and Ronal were the most understanding and supportive women in the entire universe.

some of my kin liken humans to beasts to illustrate their ruthless ambition.
i do not.
the wolf hungers, and hunts to sate that hunger.
the bear must rest, and hunts to sleep once winter comes.
the human does not merely 'hunt'.
they torch forests and poison rivers. they build giant constructions which spew gas as black as night into the very air we breathe. they hunt and hunt and hunt until nothing is left.
describing them as anything other than 'human', is to undersell the reality of their callous disregard for any semblence of mercy.
