As a huge Percy Jackson fan, I decided (totally unprompted and unasked) to devide Acotar characters into their cabins.
Acotar characters as demigods:
Cabin 1 - Zeus, the god of the sky, lightning, and thunder
Zeus' children are known to be natural leaders because their father is the king of the gods. They are extremely ambitious, persistent, intelligent, and goal-oriented. They are often labeled as "control-freaks" because they like to be in control of every situation. They are friendly most of the time, but when angered, they erupt like a storm. Children of Zeus are often drawn to storms, finding comfort in the sounds of lightning and thunder, and the intense emotions they evoke.

Demigods: Rhysand, Nesta
Cabin 2 - Hera, the goddess of marriage, family, and birth
As the goddess of marriage, Hera upholds her union with Zeus, which prevents her from having any demigod offspring.
Demigods: none
Cabin 3 - Poseidon, the god of the Sea, Storms, Earthquakes, Droughts, and Horses.
Poseidonâs children are known for having a deep passion for water. They usually love the ocean and anything that involves being close to water. They tend to not like following rules or obeying just because they are told to, just as the ocean does not like to be contained. They are friendly, loyal, and usually have a good sense of humor. Poseidon's children can also experience mood swings and be unpredictable, just like the sea. They also tend to have an outgoing and welcoming personality, but hey, do not try to irritate them: testing their patience is ill-advised, for it is not inexhaustible, and the consequences may be regrettable.
Demigods: Gwyn, Tarquin
Cabin 4 - Demeter, the goddess of harvest and agriculture
Demeterâs children are known for loving nature. They are free-spirited, kind, patient, competent, nurturing, and loving. They usually have a shy personality, but they can be fiercely protective when their loved ones are threatened. Their connection to nature infuses them with a sense of peace and harmony, and they often find solace and joy in the beauty of the natural world. They are usually seen as motherly figures, people usually seek comfort in Demeterâs children.Â
While their generosity, patience, and kindness are admirable traits, it is wise to avoid intentionally provoking them. Otherwise, you may wake up to find poison ivy flourishing in your sleeping bag.
Demigods: Elain
Cabin 5 - Ares, the god of war
It is easy to recognize a son or daughter of Ares. They tend to exude bravery, power, and confidence wherever they are. The children of Ares are known for their immense courage and strong temper, and they are typically assertive, energetic, and independent, with a natural inclination towards impulsiveness and courage. They thrive on competition, displaying honesty and passion in their pursuits, but may struggle with patience and impulsivity. Adventurous by nature, they eagerly embrace new experiences and challenges. They tend to think they are naturally better than others. Children of Ares can be hot-headed, arrogant and stubborn. They don't take things lying down, they aren't afraid of practically anything, they hate taking orders and tend to start fights for silly reasons. Still, they are very protective of those they love and would do anything to keep them well. Ironically, since their personality is usually quite the opposite, they tend to get along very well with children of Aphrodite.
If you want advice, try to stay in a good position with these demigods, or you might end up with a spear pointed at your face.
Demigods: Cassian, Feyre
Cabin 6 - Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war
Athena's children are known for their intelligence, strategic skills, creativity and courage. They tend to be trustworthy, like to lead groups, and have good ideas. They are also proud people and do not like to admit to their mistakes. If they do not excel at something right away, they get frustrated and give up on what they are doing. They can be messy at times, but they accept the mess they have created and can function well in it. While they may seem distant from society at times, it is not because they lack social skills. Rather, Athena's children are just selective about their interactions and prefer meaningful companions for their life. In fact, if they are called upon to discuss a subject they like/understand, an endless discourse on the subject will ensue. These people also tend to work well under pressure, they hate being ignored, they always want to show their responsibility (even unconsciously), and some people may have the impression of them being stuck up.
Demigods: Amren, Eris, Jurian
Cabin 7 - Apollo, the god of archery, art, medicine and the Sun and light
Apollo's children are known for their aptitude for art, especially music and poetry. They also tend to be quite sociable and communicative. Furthermore, they love helping and advising their friends, always indirectly bringing insights from their own lives. Apollo children tend to act on emotion rather than reason. They are extremely emotional people. Apollo kids always use sarcasm in all dialogues. They also have a special connection with sunrises and sunsets because they resemble a beautiful painting and obviously, showcases the sun (they take pictures of it whenever they can). They also love quality time with their friends and value nature around them. Children of Apollo tend to get along with children of Hermes, as Hermes was the inventor of Apollo's precious lyre.
Apollo: Tamlin
Cabin 8 - Artemis, the goddess of hunting and wildlife
Artemis has made a vow to eternally remain a maiden, which means she has no children. Generally, her cabin at the camp remains unoccupied. However, the goddess is accompanied by a group of gifted followers with excellent ranged capabilities and hunting skills called the Hunters of Artemis, and occasionally these young women visit Camp Half-Blood. Whenever this visit occurs, there is a traditional, not-so-friendly capture the flag game. The Hunters are currently leading the Campers roughly 47-0 in the capture the flag game (ouch!).
If you're a girl, of course, and you think your destiny is to become a hunter of Artemis, it is important to keep a few things in mind as you seek her out for recruitment. Huntresses must show bravery and a good heart. Furthermore, you have to promise eternal loyalty to Artemis, which means no boys. Ever. Additionally, you gain immortality upon being recruited.
Demigods: Emerie
Cabin 9 - Hephestus, the god of blacksmiths and fire
The children of Hephaestus have a natural gift for building things; they are true mechanics. They have a more reserved personality and prefer to be alone, or in the company of a machine. If they could choose to be alone for all their school work, they would. Despite this, they have a friendly side. They are good listeners and can be very funny, but only the people closest to them tend to know this. They are also friends for life, who can always be counted on. Hephaestus' children are truly passionate about robotics or architecture, and since they were children they liked building toys and more complex things. They also always feel out of place, as if they do not belong. Hesphaestus' children are quite peaceful and do not like violence.
Demigods: Nuan
Cabin 10 - Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty
For the children of the goddess of love, socializing is essential. They usually take a long time to get ready and they value beauty and love more than anything. They often fall in love quickly and enjoy being the center of attention or âthe hot topic in other people's conversations.â They are sometimes considered âfrivolousâ because they care a lot about their appearance and love to gossip about who is dating who, but many have admirable characteristics, such as a good heart that genuinely helps to increase the confidence and self-esteem of those around them. they. Aphrodite's children are often underserved or underestimated, but be careful, Aphrodite started the Trojan war and her children have a strong power of persuasion. They usually get what they want.
Demigods: Mor
Cabin 11 - Hermes, the god of trade, wealth, thieves, and travel
The children of Hermes are known for loving to travel. They are true explorers of the world and are very extroverted. They like to play pranks on others and tell jokes to brighten up the atmosphere. These people are usually more âstreet-smartâ and have a mischievous personality; they see no problem in lying a little, but sometimes they end up abusing this philosophy. The children of Hermes believe that the more friends the better.
Important advice: Hold your belongings tightly around them, after all they are children of the god of thieves. And, if you spend a night with them, do not be surprised if you wake up with a face full of shaving foam.

Demigods: Lucien
Cabin 12 - Dionysius, the god of wine and parties
Dionysus' children are known for being the life of the party and great extroverts. They are extremely communicative and persuasive, due to their father being the God of the Theater. These demigods tend to get along well with the cat family---after all, their father is also the god of big cats. Dionisio's children are also seen as "drama queens and kingsâ, as they often exaggerate all situations in their daily lives and are often sarcastic. These people appreciate all products made from grapes.

Demigods: Helion
Cabin 13 - Hades, the god of the dead and the king of the underworld
The children of Hades tend to be introverted and some even prefer to completely isolate themselves. They do not know how to deal with their own feelings properly nor are they very communicative, but are exceptional listeners. Furthermore, they are loyal and like animals. They often use dry sarcasm in dialogue, hate being the center of attention and get very nervous about it. The children of Hades also have their greedy and ambitious side, being particularly intelligent and resourceful. It is not always easy to unveil a son of Hades: they are discreet and don't let their deepest emotions show easily. Furthermore, they are overthinkers by nature and usually do not have a regulated sleep schedule. These demigods are also very stubborn and hate admitting they are wrong. Lastly, they do not fear their own death.

Demigods: Azriel

The level of how important and messed up this is that people forget there is a person at the other end of the post. Someone who put hours upon hours of work into something to get âabuse apologistâ insults or bullied to the point of reliving trauma.
I always say block and ignore the people who insult and attack you but not everyone can do that or are able to ignore things like this.
Time for me to say ONE LAST THING on all this drama, but it's important to me.
art is a form of therapy
you do not know other people's trauma, and you sure as hell cannot know a person even if they posted everything about themselves on their blog
no one holds the right to say what is valid or invalid
The ACOTAR fandom has an exquisite way of policing trauma as well as character and ship enjoyment. the fans pick and choose who is deserving of community, kinship and basic decency.
I speak a lot about empathy on my blog because I cannot know what a person is going through on the other side of the screen, and though I don't always agree, I have enough decency not to go out and make rules excluding people, insult others, while calling myself a positive space.
Just because your trauma means that you prefer to avoid certain topics or characters does not make anyone else who enjoys said character a bad person. some people, myself included, work through trauma through art.
My writing has saved my life, and the compassion I choose to give to "fictional "abusers (btw, victimhood and abuse does not come in one absolute form and you CAN be both a victim and an abuser with a capacity to change) is intentional. I do not glorify abuse, but I understand that art and humans are nuanced.
I also think it's a real privilege to look at other people's traumas, especially intergenerational trauma which is extremely hard to overcome, and say that 'nah, that person is just an abuser'.
I think it's hypocritical to claim fight against abuse, and fight for victims of abuse while carelessly flinging 'abuse sympathizers' and other insults to people you don't even know.
You realize that's a form of abuse, too? Invalidating, gaslighting, etc.
But thank you, ACOTAR fandom for teaching me:
Thank you for teaching me my trauma is only valid if I act like the way you think a victim should
Thank you for teaching me that I do not deserve respect, even if I take extreme care to create nuanced and emotional art because you don't like the character
Thank you for teaching me that if I face my abusers through art, I, myself am an abuser
Thank you for reassuring me that your fav, who is closer to my abuser almost to a R, deserves redemption because you love him more, and he is more attractive
I have never used my trauma as a credibility card to judge and be dismissive of real people in fandom. If you want to police something, police your fucking content.
People aren't content for you to consume, and vomit your unfiltered opinions on. It's time people remember what community means, which remembers interacting with other people who are not your abusers. Maybe take a second and fucking learn about other perspectives, grow as a person or whatever the fuck you need to be a decent person.
If you plan to reblog this invalidating/arguing what I've said above because blah blah you're still upset about your fav or ship, please take a second to read the post again 'cause you've lost the plot.
Now, I'm done. Peace out âď¸
Additional note: You know what I fucking do with my trauma? I make beautiful shit for everyone to enjoy. You don't don't have to read or care about my stories full of depth and nuance, but if you laugh at my fucking memes that are for EVERYONE and you turn around and shit on people, you suck.
#jk there's more in the tags#this is not directed to pro tamlin community you guys have been fucking amazng#the pro tamlin community has been the most kind welcoming and accepting part of acotar#oh and special shoutout to eris and azris people you guys are cool and lucien fans#but i'm sick of this fandom overall#fun fact feyre is the most triggering character to me đ and yet i'm still going to write a fic with her#also the way people shelter elain like she can't stand up for herself#and the way people lambast nesta for not taking ic shit#anti acotar#anti acotar fandom

Autumn Leaves
(Late Submission for @erisweekofficial Prompt: Bonds/Bargains đ)
Pairing(s): Eris x Archeron Sister! Reader Â
Summary: Eris never anticipated to find his Mate in a former human.Â
Word Count: 3.1K
Warning(s): Mention of traumatic childbirth, mentions of Beron (heâs a trigger all on his own these days).Â
Authorâs Note: BASED ON THIS REQUEST. I felt that this scenario fit perfectly with the prompt of Bonds/Bargains for Eris Week. I hope that this fits well with what you had wanted anon! I know the request specifically asked for Reader to be the youngest, but I felt that it would be a bit more inclusive to leave the birth order more ambiguous for those that maybe donât relate to being the youngest sibling. My brain wasnât functioning enough to allow me to write an understandable dance scene, soâŚsorry that it's not as descriptive as I would have preferred. I also didnât go back to review any of the events that occurred in ACOWAR or ACOSF, so if itâs not exactly canon compliant just ignore that. Also, Lucien was at the Hewn City solstice ball for this because I said so.Â
Special thanks to @hardcoremarvelfan for beta reading and coming up with the title for this. Also, there will very likely be a part 2.
dividers by @/tsunami-of-tears ACOTAR Masterlist
The first time Eris saw the Made female he was immediately intrigued. She was quiet and stoic, much like the two sisters she accompanied for the High Lordâs meeting. Her eyes, the same shade as her sisters, appeared cold as she took in the room. It was clear she was observing more than she let on, gaze trained forward yet keenly aware of every single one of the High Lords and their various entourages. It was apparent to Eris that she saw more than her sisters, perhaps even more than his brotherâs mate who was rumored to have been gifted the powers of a Seer by the Cauldron. He could feel the power that radiated off this fourth sister and couldnât help but wonder what gifts she may have been granted.Â
The second time he saw her was at the end of the battle with Hybern on the edge of the Spring and Summer Court border. Her eyes appeared distant as if she was separated from her body and the gore that surrounded her. But his answer regarding her gift had been answered as a circle of ice forged spears surrounded her. At least a dozen bodies were skewered while she stood stock still in the center of the circle. He had been compelled to approach her, but his brother got to her first, asking if she was okay and if she had seen his mate. After a single nod and a pointed finger towards a series of tents Lucien gently guided her away from the carnage she wrought.Â
The third time he saw her was at the solstice ball in the Hewn City over a year later. Dressed in a drab black gown clearly intended to prevent her from sticking out. However, it wouldnât have mattered if she was dressed down or in the most lavish of gowns. Erisâ eyes were instantly drawn to her as soon as she processed along with the High Lord and Lady of the Night Court. His youngest brother was by her side as an escort. As she approached the dias with her family, her eyes found his own, and Eris felt the world tilt on its axis. It took all of his mental will power to remain upright at the realization of what she was to him. Mate.Â
Eris couldnât remove his eyes from the female as Rhysand made his speech. Nor could he remove them when the music started and various Fae in attendance began to dance. He followed every one of her steps as she was escorted towards the dance floor, a beautiful smile spread wide across plush pink lips. He was vaguely aware of Rhysand's approach, his introduction to the High Ladyâs sister. The only one that was dressed to be admired by the eyes of others. Nesta, he believed it was. But Eris wasnât interested in the female that stood before him. He held up a hand, instantly silencing the High Lord, and simply pointed to the sister on the dance floor.Â
âWhat is her name?â He asked, the light russet gaze never faltering. Eris could feel the tension in Nestaâs shoulders as she followed his gesture. Rhysand, always one to never give away his thoughts, supplied her name. Eris repeated it, the name tasting like honeyed wine in his mouth. Nesta attempted to redirect the conversation and offered Eris a dance, but the Autumn Heir ignored her.Â
âAny bargains that you wish to make will be offered by her,â Erisâ voice was smooth as his eyes finally met purple. âShall I introduce myself or will you make the introduction for me?â Rhysand turned his head towards the direction where Lucien spun her around as the two waltzed. His youngest brotherâs head whipped in their direction, before he halted his dance and brought her over for a formal introduction. As expected, the female politely accepted Erisâ invitation for a dance.Â
That first dance was all it took for Eris to know he didnât want to be separated from her moving forward. Her demeanor was so different from what he had observed when he was only able to watch her from afar. He danced with only her for the remainder of the celebration and found himself completely enraptured by her. While he could tell that she wasnât as strong a dancer as her sister, whom he caught out of the corner of his eye, it didnât deter his conviction of only wanting to be by her side. Conversation flowed freely and easily as they danced. She was sharp witted, with a penchant for dry sarcasm. Her wry smile and her laugh ignited something deep within.Â
Eris always had a drive to protect those he cared for, such as his Mother and Lucien, but the desire to keep her safe was stronger than anything he had experienced before. He couldnât leave her in the Night Court, even if most of her time was spent in a city far safer than the one in which they danced. However, she couldnât exactly join him in the Autumn lest he run the risk of her becoming one of Beronâs targets to keep Eris in line. For the first time in decades, Eris didnât know what to do.Â
âIs everything alright my Lord?â Her voice was filled with nothing but genuine gentle concern. His eyes refocused from their far away haze, taking in her sharp features. Features that were so indicative of the High Fae. Looking at her one would never guess that she used to be human.Â
âEris,â He corrected. âPlease.âÂ
âIs everything alright, Eris?â Her cheeks flushed with the slightest tinge of pink. His own heart stirred at her reaction to the use of his name. Their dance had come to a halt, and he hadnât even realized the musicians were taking a break.Â
âYes,â He cleared his throat. âJust a bit lost in thought.â She nodded her head, taking a slight step back from his hold on her waist. Eris had to refrain from the desire to pull her back towards his chest.Â
âIâve enjoyed our time together,â She took a look towards her sisters. All three were huddled against the edge of the dance floor. Nesta and Feyreâs sharp steel gazes attempted to pierce through the mask that Eris held in place. While the other, whose name he had sadly forgotten, had a glazed over look. Upon focusing, he noticed that the brown was nearly obscured by milky white. He heard the female in front of him gasp, her eyes trained on the Seer. Her head whipped back towards him, giving a slight nod. Â
âI hope that we are able to count on your discretion about the Trove,â Her speech was rushed and she gathered the bottom of her skirts. âIâm certain that the High Lord will provide support to any claim you have to being the Heir.â With a quick second bow in parting she turned to rush over to her sisters.Â
Before she got too far, Eris grasped her elbow and asked, âWould you come visit me? In Autumn?â She blinked at him. Almost as if she was surprised by his desire to see her again.Â
âI must get to my sister,â She glanced back across the hall, at the High Lady trying to gain the attention of the Seer who was clearly lost in a vision.Â
âI understand,â He released his grip and nodded solemnly. âI will write to you.â She blinked again. What he wouldnât give to know what that beautiful mind was processing. She gave him a curt nod, before she quickly made her way across the hall.Â
Eris couldnât even last a week before sending his first letter. Again he asked if she would be interested in visiting his home court. She provided no answer or any acknowledgement of his question. Of course this didnât deter Eris as they continued to exchange letters. With each one he would make his offer, enticing her with descriptions of celebrations and various traditions. He would tell her about his Hounds and his Mother. Yet she continued to not provide an answer to his offer. This same pattern went on for three months before Eris had enough of the tip-toeing around the subject. He was determined to get an answer, even if it was âNoâ.Â
Eris arrived at what he assumed was Rhysandâs townhouse as the High Lord had instructed in his brief correspondence with the Autumn Heir. He tapped the back of his knuckles on the large oak door. A few brief moments drifted by with no response. No movement could be heard from inside either. He peered his head towards the large bay window at the front, but the curtains were drawn shut.Â
His heartbeat began to quicken with each passing moment as there continued to be no response. Eris was wholly unfamiliar with the city. He had no clue where to even begin looking for his mate. He was under the impression that he was at least expected by Rhysand. So why was no one here?Â
Eris turned, prepared to winnow to the Hewn City in the hopes that Keir may have knowledge of where the High Lord could be, despite how unlikely that prospect was. Instead, he came face to face with an ethereal looking female. Skin and hair dark as shadows. A billowy white dress hugged her frame, yet appeared as if it was floating in a barrier of invisible water. It took him a minute to recognize her as one of Rhysandâs half wraith servants from Under the Mountain.Â
âThey are all at the High Lord and Ladyâs home,â The female began to explain without preamble. âIf you would follow me.â She turned, not bothering to ensure that the Autumn Lord followed. When the pair approached the near ostentatiously large home near the riverfront, screams could be heard from inside. If his heart hadnât already been on the verge of an attack it surely was now. The half-wraith opened the front entrance, beckoning Eris to follow.Â
No sooner as he stepped inside did his mate come surrying down the main staircase of the foyer. A pile of blood stained sheets spilling over her arms. Her eyes were rimmed in scarlet. Stepping onto the bottom landing she finally looked up, taking notice of the male.Â
âEris,â Her voice was no more than a whisper. Her lower lip wobbled, teeth sinking into it to prevent the tremble. Eris didnât bother with formality, taking quick strides to meet her. As he reached her side, she dropped the pile of fabric and allowed her arms to encircle his waist. Her body shook with her sobs as her finger dug into his shoulders.Â
âFeyre went into labor unexpectedly,â She cried into the elaborate brocade of his tunic. âThe babeâŚhis wingsâŚâ She couldnât get her thoughts out in a coherent manner without the sobs overtaking her completely. â Theyâre dying, Eris.â She wailed upon hearing her own words spoken aloud. He pulled her in tighter to his chest, his other hand gently rubbing in soothing circles along her shoulders. Eris had no words that could provide her with any sort of comfort, making him feel as if he was already failing her as her Mate. All the male could do was hold her and hope that she didnât feel as alone in her grief if the High Lady of the Night Court somehow didnât survive. Â
Suddenly, Elain called out to her sister from the top of the staircase, âCome quick! Nesta sheâŚâ The warm brown eyes of the middle sister swam with unshed tears, a smile graced her features as well. Erisâ shoulders relaxed as the female's expression could only be an indication of good news. His mate quickly detached herself from his hold, racing back towards where the family convened.Â
As soon as the two were out of sight, Eris looked around the foyer. He quickly found a small bench and sat down. He had never felt more awkward in his life. While he had developed a correspondence with this particular sister, he wasnât exactly part of the family just yet.Â
Eris sat in the hall, waiting for what felt like hours for his mate to return. Once she did, she escorted him into a large sitting room.Â
âTheyâre going to live,â She smiled, sitting down in a chair across from him. She smoothed out her skirt, tucking in a corner that had somehow ended up with blood spatter staining the material. Eris merely hummed in acknowledgment. He didnât know what to do with himself now that they had a moment alone like this. He had planned this elaborate greeting and proposal for her to come and visit, not giving her the room to ignore the request. However, that all went right out the proverbial window. His hands straightened the fabric of his shirt, then went to remove a non-existent strand of hair from his trousers, before finally resting on his lap.Â
âYouâre fidgeting,â She pointed out. Her smile grew as she suppressed a giggle. He was happy to see that her mood had lifted so quickly. It made the reason for his visit appear less strange, inappropriate even given the intensity of the events that occurred. She gently placed one of her hands over his. Her delicate fingers soothing and calming the rolling fire that he didnât even notice had built up within himself. He allowed himself to grasp her hand in return, interlacing their digits. The sensation of fire against ice erupted throughout his being. Opposite yet still a perfect complement of powers. Eris couldnât help but wonder what they would be able to achieve together.Â
âEris,â Her voice pulled him from his thoughts, his deep hues meeting her own cool gaze. âIâm happy to see you, but what are you doing here?â He swallowed, suddenly realizing that his actions were a bit sudden and perhaps not as well thought out as he intended. His arrival without notice to her would be unexpected. He only informed Rhysand that he needed to speak to Archeron female, but never explained why.Â
âI,â He began, voice cracking. His pale features flushed and he was reminded of his younger days when his voice hovered between childhood and deeper timber of maturity. The female before him suppressed another giggle behind her unclasped hand.Â
âIâm here because you consistently ignore a very specific question,â His gaze was steady, exuding what he hoped would be seen as confidence and not the uncertainty he felt. âIâve come to ask one final time. If you say no, I will not burden you with asking ever again.âÂ
âEris,â She pulled her hand away, eyes now unable to meet his own.Â
âI acknowledge that Autumn is not always considered the most beautiful, what with the decay that can accompany the season in the mortal lands, so if you donât like it-â
âWhy would I not like the place where my mate lives?â Her perfect brows furrowed as she looked at him. Eris was at a loss for words.Â
âWhenâŚâ He couldnât finish the sentence. However, it appeared that he didnât need to as her response was a perfect correlation to what was on his mind. Â
âSince the Winter Solstice,â She said. âWhen you first asked me to come visit.â It was Erisâ turn to blink in stunned silence. She had given no indication of being aware of who he was to her. Then again, he also hadnât explicitly made their bond known. Perhaps he was wrong in thinking that his actions were obvious.Â
âItâs not that Iâm afraid that I wonât like it there,â She went on. âIâm actually afraid that I would not want to leave. But I simply canât abandon my sisters.â She lowered her head, averting her gaze from the embarrassment. However, Eris understood the desire to be with her siblings. The same desire to ensure the well-being and safety of his younger brothers was one of his reasons for not abandoning the Autumn court. For enduring the cruelty of his Father for nearly 5 centuries.Â
âI would never ask that you do,â He assured. âIn fact, I wouldnât want you to call the Autumn Court home just yet anyway. Not while my father still breathes.â
âIâm not afraid-â
âI am,â Eris admitted quietly. âI canât risk anything happening to you.â He meant it, and was surprised at how easily the truth slipped from him. But it was just the two of them at this moment. He didnât have to hide behind that mask when with her. He tucked a strand of (h/c) hair behind the perfectly pointed arch of her ear. He watched a shiver run through her as his flesh met hers.Â
âThere are some places where I can keep you safe,â He explained, all of his thoughts spewing forth as his mind raced to prove that he could keep her safe enough for short visits. âPlaces where my Father doesnât have the loyalty of the subjects, but they are loyal to me. I have a cabin, just along the borders of Summer and Winter. Close enough for you to run across either should the need arise. Iâd prefer Summer, there is a temple not far from the border where you could claim sanctuary until Rhysand or one of the brutes could get you.â
âErisâŚâÂ
âPlease,â He implored. âI do not wish to scare you away or force you to come. But I cannot stay separated from you much longer. My brother is the one with the endless amounts of patients when it truly matters.â She laughed, the melodic and soft sound made him feel light.Â
âHow often can we meet?â She inquired. Her bright blue eyes lit with anticipation of when they could have their time.Â
âI can secure a few days away every month,â He explained, almost more to himself than her as he considered the variety of excuses he would need to utilize. âMaybe up to a week at most. The time of month would need to vary as well. Any semblance of a pattern would tip my Father off. Heâs just paranoid enough to assume that Iâd be planning some type of conspiracy against him.â Of course, his Fatherâs fears were not without reason. Eris was indeed planning to usurp the High Lord. Someday.Â
âAlright then,â She beamed. âI will come and visit. Every month so long as it is safe and as long as I am able to return to my sisters.â Eris felt the corners of his mouth lift up, and soon she mirrored the expression. His heart flipped, and he had to clear his throat to regain control of his senses.Â
âThen I shall send word when everything is ready.â He stood, preparing to leave when she clasped his hand again.Â
âStay for a while Eris,â Her voice was soothing, making it feel like she wasnât giving him a command. Even if she had, he would have gladly done anything she bid of him. He knew in that instant he would do anything for her.Â

Pairing: Eris Vanserra x Archeron!reader Summary: Since you became High Fae there were only two things that scared you: your deadly power and your attraction toward the male you should hate most after Tamlin, Eris Vanserra. Warnings: Eris thinking important stuff, Eris being Eris, probably grammar mistakes and my english. A/n: IâM SO SORRY FOR THE WAITING. I had a writerâs block and i didnât want to write anything that would disappoint you. I hope youâre gonna like this, let me know if you want to be added at the taglistđŤśđť Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5 - Chapter 6

As soon as you all arrived at the River House the mood lightened up. It was time to truly celebrate the Winter Solstice, and Feyre's birthday.
You were all in the sitting room, and when you said all you meant all. Even Nesta and Lucien were there, throught you thought that the presence of the latter was not entirely because his fondness to the Inner Circle.
You took a moment to look around you and letting the sight sink. They were all happy, everyone was talking about something and everyone had a smile on their faces. It was refreshing being in such a familiar occasion, but somehow you couldn't help but feel a bit of melancholy.
Feyre had found a beautiful family. Not perfect, because no one was perfect, but she had found people who loved her and would do anything for her. They would do anything for each other, and even if being Feyre's sister made you part of the group you knew you would never be more than that: Feyre's sister.
You had no special bond with anyone. Only Rhysand and Mor had taken interest in developing a relationship with you, but as you watched them talk with Cassian and Azriel you knew that you could never compare with that. The Winter Solstice was the night for wishes, and you deeply wished to find a family like that one day.
When the time of gifts arrived you were excited. When your family had fallen into poverty there was no money for gifts, so you had spent your birthdays and the holydays as normal days.
You had found out that you loved making gifts. It had something magical the whole searching the right things for everyone and find it. The one yuo were proudest was an enchated satchel for Nesta, where she could put every book she wanted and bring it with her weightless.
You had received gifts from almost everyone. but it was when Mor handed you a box wrapped with expensive, sparkling red silk that your heart skipped a beat. "I think someone is quiet fascinated by you after only few dances." said Mor smugly and she read from who it was from.
You tried to steady your hands and you took the gift and read the little note that was attached to it.
"A reminder that flames are the apotheosis of beauty if shaped by the right person. Happy Solstice, Eris."
You slowly unwrapped the delicate silk and opened the box. Your eyes widened as you caught what was inside. Everyone's attention was on you as you took the glass case that was inside the box and hold it in your hand in front of your face.
You felt everyone's breath stopping as you stared at the beautiful rose made of fire that burned inside the glass.
The glass was warm, and the fire was perfectly shaped as a rose, forever burning on its own. Something inside you flickered, something gold, soft that a moment before was not there. You didn't know what to say as every word disappeared from your mind. It was breathtaking. The beauty of it could not be compared to anything else you had ever seen.
"At least he has good taste for gifts." Mor commented crossing her arms.
You put the glass case on the table in front of you and quickly looked away from it, giving a Mor a tight smile. "What? Having second thoughts?" you said ironically to her, needing to change subject.
She snorted. "Hardly."
"Let's just appreaciate the kind gesture." Rhysand said with an amused smile. "Thanks to you we have his alliance back, let's celebrate that."
It didn't go unnotice to you your sister's tight expression. From the way she looked at Rhysand and the smile he gave her you were sure they were having a mental conversation, about what you didn't know.
The night passed smoothly, there had been no other awkward gifts thankfully. At some point your eyes threatened to close on their own so you excused yourself and went into your room.
You put the rose on the vanity in your room, and for a moment stared at it like it could explode. If Eris wanted to mess with your head then he was doing a great job.
You scoffed, fuck you Eris.
You swear you heard his low laugh deep inside you.
***
When a letter in red paper came for you with only a place and a time written on it you stormed into Rhysand's office, guilt eating you alive. You opened the door without so much as knocking, and told him everything.
You told him how Eris saved you during the war, how you had cured him because yes your power didn't go away but "my sisters lied too so you can't be angry at me". You showed him your hands and arms. You told him that Eris knew about your power but never said anything or threated you, and in the end you told him about the bargain you made.
"You were letting yourself burning from the inside out because you were scared to hurt someone?" Rhysand's voice was not in any way angry, actually he seemed more concerned.
You shrugged, your eyes fell on the ground feeling his heavy gaze on you. "You were all so happy after the war. My sisters still needed me and I didn't want to ruin anyone's happiness with this problem. I would have figured out something, eventually."
Rhysand stared at you silently, a mischievious spark in his violet eyes. "And you thought that making a bargain with Eris was the solution?"
His question wasn't accusatory. It sounded like Rhysand was curious about your maddness, and honestly you were too. There was no right answer to make it sound reasonable, so you gave him part of the truth.
"When he chose me to dance the responsability to keep him as an ally had fallen on me, and unfortunately I couldn't seduce him like Nesta would have done." You shrugged. "Cassian was right, Eris seems to enjoy to annoy me. When he proposed to train me I took it as my chance to keep him close to the Night Court and keep him close as an ally."
"And are you comfortable with this...arrangement?" Rhysand asked you carefully.
You noticed how his reaction had been completely different from what you had expected. You thought that he would look at you like the stupid girl you felt, almost pitying you for talking about Eris like he was not a monster. Instead, Rhysand had just listened, nodded and gave you an encouraging smile.
"Yeah, I'll need one of you to winnow me where we'll meet, but I would prefer if you tell no one but Feyre and Azriel." You said and saw in Rhysand's eyes that he understood the double meaning of your words:
"I don't want Mor to find out, for now."
"It can be easily arranged, but since you'll start to spend time on your own around Prythian I must ask you to start training with Cassian and Azriel whenever you can." he said kindly sitting on the chair behind his desk.
You tilted your head with a grin. "Are you asking as my High Lord or as a worried friend?"
"What about as a brother?" he matched your grin. "An overbearing one, as Feyre calls me."
You chuckled. "I'll start training with them tomorrow."
***
"Your brooding silence is louder than Nesta and Cassian during Winter Solstice." You snorted watching with almost disgust all the flowers around you. The border between the Spring's court and the Summer's court was a explosion of yellow, pink, orange and purple. All colours that made your eyes almost hurt.
You felt Azriel's death glare on your back as you pointly avoided his eyes. "I still have to understand why Rhys think letting you be alone with him is a good idea."
"Because Rhysand would be a hypocrite to deny me of this lovely bargain." An amused, deep voice said behind you making your toes curling in your shoes.
You turned around and saw Azriel watching Eris like he was imaginaing stabbing him, and somehow you knew you were right. "I'll stay with you." said the shadowsinger as if Eris' presence just reminded him how a bad idea that was.
"Tempting, but I'm not usually one who like to share." Said Eris with a cocky grin before looking at you. "Unless the lady wants to."
You narrowed your eyes at him, crossing your arms. It was annoying how most of the times you didn't know if Eris was flirting with you or trying to rile you up.
"Go Az." You looked at the shadowsinger with a kind smile. "I'll be fine."
"I'll be back in few hours." Azriel said to you before winnowing away, giving Eris one last warning look.
You watched for a few seconds the place where Azriel had been standing and took a deep breath. "Over the centuries I forgot how dramatic he could be."
You snapped your eyes on Eris, making a good effort to not notice how his green outfit made his eyes look of an impossible shade of gold.
"He just doesn't trust you." you said ironically. "I wonder why."
Eris gave you a feline grin before offering you his arm. "There is a lake near by, shall we?"
You studied his arm with wary eyes. Inside you there were two sides that were fighting each other. The first one wanted to give him the chance that no one ever did, to trust him and gain his trust back, to get to know the Eris that if you tried hard you could see under his mask; the other part was yelling at you to not be stupid, that if the Inner Circle didn't trust him after five centuries there were very good reasons, and the worst part was that you knew most of them, and still it wasn't enough to make you feel even a hint of disgust.
So you had to pretend.
"Let's just get started." you hoped that your cold mask was at least half good as his as you walked past him toward the lake, ignoring his low chuckle.
***
From your sister's story of her training you had expected everything but this.
Eris had made you sat right in front of the lake with your leg crossed, your back straight and your eyes closed while he did the same beside you and gave you instruction with his voice.
He had told you to focus on your breathing while you had to map the environment around you just with your hearing. Was it even possible?
Spoiler: no.
Everytime you heard a sound your mind would wander around with random thoughts that become a deep dive inside your head. The birds over you reminded you of the days that your father used to bring you around the forest close to your old estate. Who knew who lived there now? Maybe the humans had chosen to let it fall to ruin after what happened to them. Maybe they would think it was cursed.
That's it. You had forgotten to calm your breathing. Again.
"Awknowledge the thoughts that came into your mind and let them go." Eris' voice vibrated right inside you making you shift slightly on your place.
"I thought you were going to teach me how to control my power, not how to control my breathing." You scoffed.
"Who said anything about training your power in the bargain?" He said almost bored.
Your eyes snapped open and you looked at him incredulous. He was smirking. That bastard was smirking and you wanted nothing more than to slap that grin away from his face.
"If you do not train me I could easily lose control and burn everything around us to ashes." You said slowly, angry that he thought he could trick you. "And you with it."
Eris opened his eyes, his grin only grew wider as he looked at you. "Oh, but that would be quite the sight." You clenched your jaw as your skin started to pinch with heat. He gave you an amused look before closing his eyes again and taking a deep breath. "Relax, Little Flame. We need to make you burst out that mass of power that you had been foolishly sealed inside you, but I won't make you do it until I know it's not completely safe for you."
"And completely safe for this place." You added while you fought the blush that was growing on your cheeks at the thought that Eris had just said that he wanted you safe.
You saw him shrugging, his eyes remained shut. "Helion wouldn't mind a little renovation." You scoffed rolling your eyes. How could he be so calm? You had expected to learn how to control your fire, and instead you were struggling to control even your breathing. "Believe it or not, but I'm trying to help you. Close your eyes."
His firm tone made you ashamedly tightening your thighs. You bit the inside of your cheek to prevent you from doing something stupid, like talk back and made him use that tone again.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm the heat that was starting to grow at the pit of your stomach, which you were sure wasn't due your flames.
"You were born human, but no one taught you how to be a High Fae when the cauldron Made you. Your body is stronger, faster. Your sight, hearing, and nose are sharper." Eris' explanation hit something very precise inside you. It was true, no one had ever stopped to explain to you how to use those new abilities. And it was fine, you had never really asked, knowing that as the older sister you should have to figure it out on your own. "We are at the border between Summer and Spring, with only your nose you should be able to tell where the border exactly is, but lets start easy. Use all your senses but the sight."
His calm and warm voice made it sound simple, and you believed him. It wasn't a even-a-child-can-do-it type of simple, it was more like a your-body-can-naturally-do-that type of simple.
You spent another hour like that, and by the end of it you were smiling broadly. You had successfully used all your new senses, and you were mesmerized by Eris' patience. Not once he had rushed you or had seemed to be tired.
"You're smiling." your head snapped toward him and you couldn't help the look of surprise that grew on your face. "You've never smiled like that when I was around."
You watched him with a hint of michievous in your eyes. As soon as you had successfully told him where the border was he had instructed you to stand in front of the lake and try to smell the animals around you. "You've never been silent around me before."
Eris laughed. The redhead in front of you, the Heir of Autumn, the General of the Autumn Court's army actually laughed and didn't incinerated you for your words.
It was an awful lie what you had said. His voice was probably the most beautiful sound you had ever heard, and you wondered if he laughed because he knew that deep down.
Cauldron, I hope not.
"Tell me if you sense some creatures in the lake." Eris smirked crossing his arms over his chest. "I'll gift you with more silence in the meantime."
You playfully rolled your eyes and took a step closer to the lake.
Deep breath.
Empty mind.
Eyes closed.
You felt the bird above you, the deers at your left, deep in the Summer's forest and even the rabbits beyond the Spring's border. But nothing came from the lake in front of you. Confused you opened your eyes and tried to catch some glimps of fishes or other creatures.
"Nothing." You said tilting your head a bit confused. "I don't think there is something in this lake."
"Good." Eris grinned michievously. "Then put your hands in the water and let your fire out."
You felt your eyebrows hitting your hairline as you widened your eyes and looked at him incredulous. "I am absolutely not."
"You absolutely are." he quickly remarked.
"What if there are fishes in there? I cannot kill them." You gestured to the pool of water in front of you, trying to understand what he intented.
"You said there is nothing in there." He shrugged becoming serious. "You need to start trusting your senses. There might still be days where you need to let your power out and you'll need to scan the area quickly to make sure no one is around."
His words carried something too personal for you to let them go. Was he speaking for personal experience? You wanted to talk back, you wanted to ask him if there were creatures in the lake, but something inside you stirred.
Eris might be the only one who could understand you, who knew what you were going through. He was the oldest son of Beron, you wondered what kind of pressures he had to live with. You wondered if he too had to learn how to use his fire beside a lake to not hurt anyone.
You slowly crounched on your feet and even slower took your gloves away. The burned flesh on your hands were red with remains of the green sticky cream that Madja had given you. The cold water send shivers of pure relief through all your body.
"You want me to light a fire under water..." You said skeptical looking at Eris over your shoulder.
"Darling, I'm positive your power could light a fire at the bottom of the ocean, if wield properly." You looked away from his lazy grin as your stomach twisted at his new nickname.
Water or not water you had to understand now how to call the fire at you. For weeks the flames had been burning all your body no-stop, you just needed to focus them in your hands.
"I do not suppose to know you, but I might guess that your power usually answer to your anger." he was standing behind you like you hadn't a burning fire inside you ready to explode, like you weren't a danger for him. "Focus that sweet mind of yours toward what anger you most."
You.
The answer was quick in your mind.
Eris Vanserra had the ability to make you angry with just a look, and there were so many reasons that you couldn't focus on just one. It made you angry when he used his mocking tone with you. It made you angry when he used a gentle tone with you. It made you angry when he looked at you like you were the only person in the room, and it made you angry when he avoided your gaze in a room full of people.
It made you angry knowing what he did to Mor. It made you angry that there were times when you didn't care. It made you angry that you thought that the male in front of you could never do shuch thing. It had made you angry that he had saved you. But you were even angrier when he hadn't seek you out after the battle.
Eris Vanserra made you angry because he didn't make you angry at all. He made you feel frustrated, amused, annoyed, flustered and seen, and you were angry because you shouldn't feel those things. Not with him.
You felt it then. You felt hot flames rising from your skin and you imagined that the water in front of you were your feelings, and they needed to burn. So, they burnt.
Bright, red fire appeared underwater around your hands and the water in front of you started to boil. You let it all out. Every flame you had pushed down in those months was now left free.
It felt so good to finally let it go. The flames were circling all your arms, from your shoulders down your elbows and to your hands. You had missed the warmt that came from inside your body, the ethernal sensation that no cold could ever touch your skin, never again.
***
Eris had never known an enchanting sight as the one he had in front of him now. Your flames were all around you while from the lake it was rising a cloud of steam that soon enough would catch someone's attention.
He felt your rage through the bond and everything you had kept inside. The steam of power that you were letting out was huge, destructive, beautiful.
He watched silently as your fire stopped and you let yourself fall back, sitting on the burned grass and staring the water with emotionless eyes. He dared to tuck softly the bond, trying to understand what you were feeling, then you laughed, and something gold flickered inside him at that sound.
It was a laugh that could make him burn courts to the ground for the chance to hear it again. It was the laugh that at some point he had dreamed while Under the Montain. It was the laugh of hope that no matter if people like Amarantha, Beron or the King of Hybern ruled merciless, there were still people with enough strenght to laugh.
"I've never felt so free in a long time." you almost whispered to yourself. You stared at your hands and Eris let out a sigh of relief as he saw that the skin was completely healed.
He saw as you took a deep breath and closed your eyes tilting your head back toward the sky, and Eris felt the need to make you stop looking so fucking perfect while he had no right to enjoy this view.
He cleared his throat bringing his hands behind his back. "Can I dare to ask what or who you were thinking? I wouldn't want to find myself in the middle of the two of you."
You gave him a indecipherable look. "Cassian's habit to steal my breakfast."
Eris didn't hold the scoff that escaped his lips. It was clearly a lie, but he understood that. He was no one for you, there was no reason for you to trust him with your thoughts, so he didn't push, even if his stomach twisted in a payinful knot.
He smelled a light scent far behind him, and he knew that was time for you to return back at home. "We should go back before the shadowsinger cut my throat."
He turned around, needing to stop that moment before he started to believe things that couldn't be true. Not yet.
"Wait." your voice stopped him and he curiously turned around to look at you as you stood up and brushed of the grass from your dress. You walked closer to him with a steady look that made him equally unsteady. "It's time for my part of the bargain. My question."
He rose slightly his eyebrows, surprised by your sudden determination. "Go ahead."
He saw as you tried to organize your thoughts, crossing your arms as to make you more secure of yourself. "Is this side of yours part of the mask?"
Eris tilted his head, a bit confused by your question. "This side?" What were you seeing in him? What did he let slip?
"Yes, this side." You gestured with your hands at his whole person. "You, helping me and not being a total arrogant. You always make sure to make the others doubt your intentions, to doubt you. While...while the one I have in front of me is not the same male I heard the others talk about."
Eris stood there for a moment, looking into your eyes. He heard steps behind him approach, steps of someone who usually doesn't want to be heard. He slowly reached out a hand, and tuck some hair behind your ear and he smirked as he heard your breath caucht in your throat.
"Maybe I'm just manipulating you." He whispered, knowing he had few more seconds to play with you. If he couldn't have you for himself, he at least could have those reactions from you. "Maybe I want you to think I'm the good guy to use you against your precious Inner Circle. It would be quite the revenge."
"You are not moved out of revenge." Your response left him speechless for a moment. "If you wanted revenge then half of Prythian would be death."
"I could convince you to kill them for me." he stated back. He had let his hand lingering behind your ear, and now he let it slowly trace down the curve of your neck.
You breath had become clearly shorter, he could feel your heart beating through your chest, but your face betrayed nothing. He could see something flicker in your eyes, the only thing you couldn't control, but the look you were giving him was caution.
It was a game now, seeing how far he needed to go to convince you he was indeed the bad guy. Not to you. Never to you. But to everyone else. He wasn't above killing to gain what he wanted. He had lied, killed, manipulated and swore false oath to ensure the security of his people, but for you? He would kill with his bare hands an entire court to give you a throne, and it terried him.
"I told you, I won't kill for you." your voice snapped him back from his mind. You grabbed his wrist with your hand, fingers still hot with fire, and shoved it away from your neck. "You didnât-â
âItâs time to go.â A voice cold as death stopped you in mid sentence.
Eris didnât acknowledge the shadowsinger behind him, keeping his eyes on you. âBut we were having so much fun.â
âStep away from her.â Your eyes snapped on Azriel and something twisted inside Eris as he watched you smiling at the shadowsinger and walking toward him.
Will he ever be the one receiving that smile? Will you ever walk toward him that happily?
He watched as you took Azrielâs arm and the shadows started to grow around you, ready to winnow away.
âLittle flame.â Eris called after you. Your eyes found his over the wall of shadows that was forming around you. It was time for the answer, he guessed. âNo, itâs not.â
Your eyes widened, and it was a pity, seriously, that he couldnât see the rest of your face before you disappeared, because he knew it would be hilarious.

Starstruck

Azriel x Fem!Reader
Summary - Azriel had never wished upon a star, and after finding you, he wished he had done it sooner.
Warnings - FLUFFFFFFF, a touch of angst and sadness
There were thirteen stars that streaked across the skies during Starfall, Azriel had resound himself to noting each one as they made their journey across the same canvas each year, watching how they danced between one another and entranced the city with their show.
He sometimes wondered just how perfect someone had to be in order to be one of them, to shine so brightly and to be so adored that a whole city would wait an entire year to watch them for just a fleeting moment.
After watching for so long, Azriel knew each of them in his own special way, but he had always been particularly drawn to the singular star that always drifted to the back of the colony, like it was trying to stay for just a moment longer, and he could have sworn that he felt it watching him on more than one occasion, even when it twinkled idly in the sky and pulsed with pearlescent light.
One particular Starfall, Azriel gave in to his infantile wonder that perhaps wishing on a star would make all of his dreams come true, dreams that he had never spoken of to anyone. As silly as it felt, Azriel forced himself to close his eyes just as the stars began their dance; he inhaled deeply and wished, what for he'd never tell, but he did it.
In the days that followed, Azriel felt that tiny spark of hope evaporate within him, such showed in his tendrils of shadow who were feeling a little heavier than usual, less mischievous too. Cassian had noticed it, it was only small really and he was surprised that it was him who had caught it, but he knew Azriel better than anyone, he'd notice any slight change.
"What's wrong?" Azriel's chest was glistening in the last dwindling glance of sunlight, rising and falling rapidly as he worked to slow his breathing from his latest training session with Cassian.
Azriel spared Cassian a side-long glance and moved to unwrap his knuckles, the bandages winding onto the ground, "Nothing," he cast his eyes down to his knuckles, bruised and bloody and also throbbing from the impact of Cassian's abdomen, the feeling didn't do much to tempt his thoughts.
"Bullshit," Cassian cursed softly, "You're you but not. Tell me what's going on Az."
Sighing, slightly agitated, Azriel turned to his brother, noticing the stars leaking in from the distance, "I want my mate. I want what you and Nesta have, and Feyre and Rhys. I thought that maybe it was my turn next," his heart stung with the knowing of Lucien and Elain's accepted mating bond, he glanced behind Cassian, seeking comfort in something other-worldly, "I wished it."
Azriel hadn't meant to make Cassian feel guilty, he was glad that Cassian had found his mate, someone to love for the rest of his days., but it didn't stop him from feeling more alone than he had ever felt in his life.
The raw emotion in his voice caused Cassian to stand speechless before him, "I'm going to go for a walk, clear my head."
Without another word, Azriel shrugged his shirt over his head and took off into the skies, unable to look back at the pained expression on Cassian's face. Part of him was ashamed for his feelings, he was Spymaster of the Night Court, anyone who loved him would be in constant danger, perhaps that was why he hadn't been gifted with a soul-bound other.
Landing on the cobbled streets of Velaris, Azriel began trapsing through the city with his head hung low, not particularly paying attention to anything until his shadows coiled around his arms and tugged at him. The Shadowsinger scoffed, pushing himself onward and choosing to ignore his companions, only barking at them when they swam over his face and restricted his vision; Azriel swatted at them, "What?"
One particular shadow, the one most prone to dancing and becoming lost in someone's hair, hovered before his eyes, waltzing into the night-kissed air and forcing Azriel to focus. He hadn't realised how far he'd walked until he took a moment to scan the area, he had wandered all the way down to the Sidra, so much being clear from the bubbling drifting from the riverbank as the water sang over the rocks.
Then he heard something that made his heart skip, a soft hum, no louder than a hummingbird, winding down the cobbled path to meet his ears. It was sweet and calm, full of life and serenity, and he couldn't stop himself from following it.
His shadows shivered with each step, each one becoming more active with every metre forward they were carried until they saw you, you were kneeling in the water that perfectly reflected the sky, fingers dipping beneath the surface whilst it swam by you. Your hair was unbound and kissing the surface in a way that sent small ripples through it whenever they would collide.
Azriel stood on the bank and watched you, not being able to place you in his mind, he listened to your song, unwilling to stop his shadows from drawing themselves toward it. Only when those tendrils of darkness grazed against your skin did the song halt, it was replaced by a soft giggle, one that could have made the darkness part to allow in the sun if it wished it.
"Can I help you?" The shadows shuddered at your question, convicted to dancing to the sound of your melodic tone, coiling around the finger you had raised to your eyes to inspect them closer, "How peculiar."
The drenched skirt of your pale blue dress pooled at your feet when you stood, but you didn't take your eyes off of the shadows. And, as if realising how potentially rude they were being, Azriel moved to intervene, to beckon them back to his side, "I'm sorry, they don't seem to want to listen to me today."
Turning to face him, Azriel lost every thought in his mind, the only one lingering in his consciousness being that you were easily the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, "It's alright, I don't mind," you told him with a smile as wide as the Sidra. His shadows continued to dance around you, slithering into every gap possible to just be as close as they could, "Who are you?"
Azriel was slightly taken back by the question, everyone knew who he was, and he didn't mean to feel egotistical when he thought that, most people were afraid of him, and everyone in the city certainly knew who he was. "I'm Azriel," he attempted to call back his shadows but they refused to leave you, he had half a mind to waltz right up to you and pluck them from your skin, but he stayed put, "Who are you?"
"Y/N." Beautiful.
"I haven't seen you here before."
The moon reflected off the surface of the Sidra,
Humming softly, you glanced about with a furrowed brow, like you were trying to find something familiar until your eyes dragged upward and settled on the sky, "And where is here?"
"Velaris. The City of Starlight."
"Starlight," your voice drifted, eyes unwavering in their upward gaze, "How pretty."
Perhaps Azriel should have been cautious of you, the beautiful thing with the long hair and voice as tempting as a siren's, but he wasn't, not even a little bit. If anything, Azriel had found a comfort within you despite only being in your presence for a mere few moments.
After a few moments, your wandering eyes returned to earth and you moved past him, up toward the cobbled path he had strayed from to find you, "Can I walk you home?"
Turning on the balls of your feet, you grinned at him and continued backward, "I'll be fine."
Azriel took a single step forward, "Will I see you again?"
"If you wish it," you told him with a knowing smirk, one that he didn't recognise, before turning from him and disappearing into the night, leaving Azriel wondering just exactly who you were to be able to cause his shadows continue to whisper your name into the darkness.
The next time Azriel saw you was in the Palace of Threads and Jewels, he had only caught a glimpse of you, but your scent of jasmine and pine lingered where you once stood. Azriel excused himself away from Nesta and Feyre, both of who glanced to his hurried form as he retreated from them.
Rounding a corner, he found you inspecting a bouquet of night lilies, your fingers gliding across the velvety petals with a genteel smile on your lips, one that widened when his shadows curled around your ankles, "Hello again," you called to them endearingly, beckoning them up to your fingers where they happily rested whilst you brushed the tip of your nose again them.
Azriel felt his heart clench at the action, and he only pulled himself from his entranced state when you graced him with your attention, "Hello to you too, Azriel," your hands were folded neatly behind your back, his shadows now resting on your shoulders.
"Hello," he took a step forward, and then he noticed just how small you were in comparison to him by the way you craned your neck up to look at him, "I knew I'd see you again."
A grin formed on your lips, "Did you wish it?"
"Perhaps,â Azriel folded his arms across his chest and drank you in, the pinned back hair and the baby whips that floated over your forehead, the white dress that hugged you in all of the perfect ways, and those bright doe eyes tinged with a touch of mischief.
"Then consider your wish granted,â the heel of your shoe clicked against the floor, the aroma of fresh roses and foliage filling the air, and you cocked your head at him slightly as if appreciating his beauty, âHow have you been?â
In all honesty, Azriel had been feeling much better since that night he left Cassian after training, and that was because of you. Azriel couldnât stop thinking about you, how lost you seemed but also not afraid, how gentle you seemed, and your voice, he couldnât get it out of his head. Without wanting to admit it, Azriel had been looking for you, lazily, but with a hope he thought he had lost. And now there you stood, as pretty at the petals that drifted along the floor.
âIâve been alright,â he leaned against the pillar of the stop, angling his body into you. It had been an age since someone had asked how he was, especially in the way that you asked, with genuine intrigue and care. âHow have you been?â
Smiling, you answered, âIâve been good,â you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and giggled softly as a shadow flowed through your hair.
âIâd like to get to know you,â he said with gentle conviction and you couldnât help but blush, enjoying the sight of those soft eyes and rough exterior clad in black pants and a matching long sleeved cotton shirt.. âIf youâd let me?â
âI wouldnât say no,â you shrugged and took a step forward, close enough to scent the cedar on his clothes, âWhat are you doing right now?â
âNothing,â Azriel internally cursed himself for responding so fast, showing his eagerness to spent more than a moment under the moon with you.
With a knowing smirk you huffed out a laugh, âWell, walk with me? I want to explore a little.â
Not needing another word, Azriel pushed himself from the beam and stepped aside for you to slip past him, slowly meandering through the market and observing everything that you could.
âWhere is it that you live?â Azriel asked, happy to simply watch you scan the shelves and touch anything that looked soft.
Without looking back, you answered his question with a voice as warm as summer rain, âA little cabin by the streams,â the cotton of your bag brushed against your skirt as you swayed from side to side, craning your head and standing on your tiptoes to glance at the top shelves.
Azriel knew the place, he had always been drawn to it, the white window frames that turned yellow in the golden light that poured from insane, the thatched roof that was almost plaited in the finest of knots, and the tiny garden erected toward the back facing the forest where an array of flowers of all breeds bloomed and basked.
âAnd you? Where do you live?â
You led Azriel down the cobbled streets, picking up trinkets and admiring their beauty before placing them back on the shelves, âI live in the House of Wind,â from your furrowed brow, he knew that you didnât know of it; Azriel placed his hands on your shoulders and turned you gently, reaching beneath your chin to angle your head upward, âUp there.â
âIt looks beautiful,â you hummed, âYouâre very lucky.â
âYes, I am,â you missed how he looked to you when he spoke, captured by a gleaming stone resting on a plush cushion.
Closing the gap, you took the stone in your hand, resting it in your palm and letting the chain sway against your wrist, âItâs so beautiful,â you spoke in a tone a hush above a whisper, the rustle of a curtain begged your focus and you glanced up to see an elderly woman approaching you.
âA beautiful stone for a beautiful lady,â her voice rasped, but her kind eyes were fixated upon you, smiling in their own way.
âHow much?â Azriel asked, appearing behind you with a twinkle in his eye.
âAzriel, no. Itâs too much,â you protested, it was an ornately beautiful jewel, a white stone that reflected against the cloth of the ceiling that billowed in the breeze, âI canât.â
Azriel, nodding his silent message to the shopkeeper, took the chain in his marred fingers and draped it around your neck, clasping it at the back and watching as your fingers reached to brush against it, âIt was made for you.â
âThank you,â you turned around to face him, and it took every ounce of willpower to not brush his fingers against your cheek.
The dropping sun cast its glow over your face, and Azriel gasped slightly, the sun turning your eyes molten and pristine, and felt the golden thread within him thrum into place. For a moment, the world seemed clearer, his senses heightened and your scent seeped into the foundations of his being.
From the look on your face, you had also felt it, your lips had parted slightly and your eyes were wide and glistening, âItâs you,â he was in disbelief, but his heart sang when you rested a hand over his heart, âYouâre my mate.â
A gentle nod confirmed it, and Azriel couldnât stop his hand this time from brushing against your cheek, his thumb dragging over your skin, âYes.â
âI didnât think Iâd ever find you,â he whispered, âYouâre real?â
âIâm real,â you entwined your fingers with his and brought them to your lips, kissing the marred flesh of his knuckles, âIâm here.â
Azriel struggled accepting that someone as perfect as you had been chosen to be his.
He didnât want to rush you into anything, he wanted you to be comfortable, but heâd be lying if he said that every single part of him wasnât irrevocably obsessed with you.
But when you met his family for the first time, and held Nyx and rocked him to sleep, did Azriel know that there was no one more made for him than you. Nesta and Feyre adored you from the moment they laid eyes on your sweet smile and large eyes, they had practically whisked you away to a separate sofa to probe and gossip with you. After you had spoken to Cassian and Rhys, his brothers moved to him with wide smiles, telling him that you were perfect.
Then there was Nyx who cried every time someone tried to take him from you, his nuzzled into your side, resting his head against your chest as he slept.
In the months that followed, his adoration for you only grew, and the night you had accepted the bond had been the most magical moment of his life. And not long after, he made you his wife in the most ornately warm ceremony the city had ever seen.
Each day was full of love and laughter, he moved into the cabin with you, and enjoyed every single moment of his life knowing that you were the one waiting for him at the end of the day.
Starfall had rolled around again, reminding Azriel that it was the same night a year ago that caused him to wish for you. He stood with you on that balcony, a stones throw away from the rest of his, and now your, family as the skies opened and the stars began their descent.
âIâve never seen it like this before,â you uttered, hands resting on his forearms that were wrapped around your waist.
The stars soared, but their usual course was disrupted by their decision to fly toward the balcony. They hovered before you and Azriel and he felt your body leave his embrace, your fingers outstretched to float between the stars that waltzed around your body, âIâve missed you too,â you told them, skin glittering with their kiss.
Bewildered, Azriel watched you have a conversation with the stars that painted the sky each night. Frowning, he counted the stars, noticing each one as the ones he knew and named, the same ones he created stories and lives for, to only find that one was missing, the last one who always lingered. Then his eyes moved to you and he wondered how he hadnât realised it before.
The last star was you.
It made sense, you had always shone so brightly in comparison to others. Everyone had always felt settled around you, and Azriel had just thought that it was your serenity that caused it, but no, it was because you were a star.
âYouâre a star,â thatâs why you didnât know where you were that night he had found you, itâs because you had fallen from the sky and landed his city, his home.
Smirking slightly, you walked into his open arms, sighing as the stars moved around you, âI prefer to say a wish come true.â
Azriel, chuckling at your words, hooked a finger beneath your chin and pulled your eyes upward, his breath fanned over your face. âIf Iâd have known then I would have wished for you a lot sooner.â

A/N: this request was so good (ty to anon!!), I feel like az always pairs really good with angst to comfort, anyways hope you enjoy<3 (also sorry for lack of posts recently I just had a math+science test back to back and have spent the past few days studyingđ)
Requests are open!
Unlike the rest of your friend group, you werenât special.
You werenât a High Lord, Spymaster, General, High Lady, Seer, or any special title. You werenât funny like Mor, witty like Amren, or even talented in much like all of your friends were.
But then again, like your mother had said, opposites always attract.
Maybe that was why had always had a small crush on the Spymaster who was withdrawn and secretive, the opposite of your friendly personality. You could befriend just about anyone, knowing their name, age, and at least a few background details on them in a few minutes, while Azriel was the exact opposite, getting his information on people through other ways.
With his job and his centuries of experience for two different High Lords, it was a wonder he didnât already know about your crush on him. Maybe it was because, like everyone else, he was focused on the central characters in your friend group.
The three sisters and brothers. It was hard to overlook them, with all their achievements and accomplishments, not to mention the things theyâd overcome and their pasts.
Tonight you were all out at Ritaâs, Cassian telling awful jokes to Nesta as she rolled her eyes, playfully swatting him on the shoulder, Rhys and Feyre having a drinking competition, Azriel brooding somewhere in the corner, alone because of Elain visiting Autumn Court with Mor for âpolitical purposesâ even though everyone knew she wanted to see Lucien.
You were taking a sip of your drink, idly standing at the bar, elbows propped on the table as your eyes raked through the crowd, searching for someone who could offer a decent hookup. Drunk Fae stumbled about, laughing loudly with genuine joy that made your lips twitch up a bit, the music playing in the background also helping your mood as a cool breeze blew through the open area.
âLooking for someone?â
You choked on your drink, alcohol coming back up to sting your throat a second time before you swallowed it all backdown, one hand over your heart as you sighed in relief, looking at Azriel whoâd somehow approached without you knowing.
âMother above, Az, you scared the shit outta me.â
You replied, taking a few more breaths to calm down, turning to face him, back now against the bar table as the shadowsinger looked down at you, hair falling into his eyes in a boyish way that made you giggle as you tried to brush some behind his hair.
âSomeone needs a haircut,â
You teased, and a hint of a smile graced his lips.
âIâll make sure not to go to Mor this time.â
He said, grimacing for a moment at the memory of the awful haircut Mor had given him, insisting he needed it, only to butcher his beautiful dark locks. You could still remember how distraught heâd been after, looking like a puppy that had just been kicked.
âI could do it, my mom used to cut hair, taught me a thing or two,â
You offered with a little shrug, taking another sip of your drink, one youâd already refilled by now. Maybe twice. You couldnât remember, all you knew was that the hangover in the morning would be brutal.
A chuckle from Azriel made you rub your thighs together as he shook his head in fond exasperation. He swallowed, almost nervously, odd for him, before speaking.
âMaybe next time, though I wouldnât object if you-â
He was cut short by another male strolling up to you a tad bit too confidently, one arm going to the right of you on the bar table as his eyes met yours.
An old partner. Particularly a fuck-buddy.
The best solution for tonight, really, since Cauldron knows you werenât bold enough to push anything with Azriel. He was a friend, nothing more, or at least you tried to convince yourself. He still hadnât gotten over Elain, or you thought he hadnât yet, and you didnât want to risk ruining your friendship or making things awkward between the two of you because of your desires the the crush youâd kept secret for years.
Your fuck-buddyâs eyes met yours, and you swallowed, glancing at Azriel as he watched the silent interaction the two of you had before giving a terse nod and walking away. You wouldâve noticed how his eyes narrowed, or how he looked stiff if you hadnât taken a few too many sips between talking with those at Ritaâs tonight.
âWant to take this back to my place?â
The male drawled, arm sliding around your waist as he began guiding you to the exit around the side, where people could discreetly leave. Neither of you was beating around the bush, and you rarely did anyway. You both just needed a release, or at least you did.
âMm..sure.â
You murmured, body hot now, thinking about Azriel instead of the male leading you to his old home, wishing it was Azrielâs hands on you, wishing you knew what it felt like to know him more, deeper than just the tip of the iceberg youâd touched.
~
Weeks had passed since that night, youâd woken up cold and alone in the maleâs bed, gotten up, and collected your clothes before walking your ass back to the townhouse while your head had felt like someone split it open.
You had vowed not to go drinking for a while now.
And things had gotten weird between you and Azriel Joe, too. He was avoiding you, and no matter how much he tried to deny it, you could tell.
When he heard your footsteps, he left the room almost immediately, hell, even his shadows were avoiding you, not following you like loyal dogs per usual, just one or two to make sure you were safe at all times like he did for every member of the Inner Circle. His jaw was clenched every time he was in a room with you, and he wouldnât look you in the eye, maybe couldnât.
You barely remembered what had happened that night other than a few blurry memories of conversations and whatnot; so you didnât know if youâd said something stupid and messed it up, or he thought you were a whore for going out with that other male and leaving him all alone.
The more you thought about it, the more you thought the latter was more likely.
It didnât help that just a few days later, amidst all your worries, youâd decided to take a little walk through Velaris to get some outside time and a serotonin boost, only for the exact opposite to happen when you were met with your previous fuck-buddy from that night weeks ago screaming in your face, yanking you down a small alleyway to properly yell at you.
âNasty bitch, gave me a disease! If youâre going to be a whore, at least keep your fucking viruses to yourself-!â
Horror shot through you at his words. You didnât have any sort of STD, not that you knew of at least, and if youâd spread the theoretical disease to himâŚHe might be an asshole, but no one deserves that.
Unsure what to do as tears welled in your eyes and fell, you began trying to ignore him as you turned and dashed out of the alleyway, the loose clothing you were wearing helping you to slightly outpace him through the streets, avoiding the children and Fae on them, not to mention the vendors and toys strewn about.
He pursued you, screaming still, and hot tears of embarrassment pouring down your cheeks as you began to sob, you didnât even realize youâd outrun him until you were already at the steps to the House of Wind, ascending them, not even bothering to count out the 10,000 steps in your head.
Somehow, through either pure anger or sadness, you reached the top right when your knees gave out, only for Nesta to catch you right before you fell, dressed in her training leathers, weapons strapped to her. Her forehead wrinkled in confusion and already-building anger as she saw you crying your eyes out.
âWhatâs wrong?â
She demanded, shifting to hold you up fully, carrying you bridal style as she started walking into the House, snapping her fingers once she got inside, and the House listened to her as always, making a warm cup of tea in your favorite flavor, and a comfort meal she knew you loved as she slowly sat you down at the table. The House mustâve deemed it necessary when it added a cushion beneath your butt on the chair, considering your aching legs.
You tried to blubber out an answer amidst the tears, but couldnât manage to, and her eyes softened as she sighed, sitting down next to you on your right, before seeing that she wasnât making much progress, and getting back up.
âEat, we can talk about this later, Iâll go get him.â
You were about to ask who she was going to get, even though a part of you already knew as you saw her walking off in the direction of his room. You began slowly digging into the food, finding yourself to be much hungrier than earlier anticipated. Then again, youâd skipped out on breakfast, expecting to get a big lunch while out and about in Velaris.
Azriel arrived only a moment later, shadows swirling, concern evident on his face as Nesta gave him a stern look and pointed to you before she mouthed âYouâre welcome.â to you, and strolled out of the door.
âWhat happened?â
He asked, smooth voice soaked in worry as he quickly pulled out the same chair Nesta had just been sitting in, sitting in it as it groaned under his weight. One of his wings stretched out in your direction, just barely curling around you.
You swallowed a bite of your food, tears coming back up.
âItâs embarrassing.â
You managed to croak out, and he shook his head.
âI wonât make fun of you, I promise.â
He pledged, and you trusted that promise as you sniffled again, wiping the wetness from your eyes with one hand.
âMe and that male from Ritaâs, we slept together, and he just accused me ofâŚof giving him an STD.â
You said, before breaking into sobs again, hands going to cover your face despite the warmth that burned in your cheeks from the shame of being in this situation. His large palm gently brushed over your back as he scooted closer, raising an eyebrow at the cushion in your seat for half a second before his wing curled fully around you; and he pulled you into a surprisingly warm hug.
âIâm sorry.â
He murmured, and your sobs slowly subsided until you had no tears left to cry, but you still held onto him in the hug, hands fisting the back of his shirt, the cloth bunching up beneath your fingers.
âWhat if I do, though? Have a..virus?â
He gave a little hum of thought.
âWeâll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, do you want to go get tested?â
You gave a sad little nod, a small pout on your lips that made him want to rip apart the male that made you feel this way. He gently picked you up, careful with your sore legs, figuring out what had happened rather quickly after some of his shadows informed him what theyâd seen. They also quickly informed him on the full story, and what that male had done. Another job for another day, but he would make sure he paid for it.
Nearly two hours later, youâd had to pee in a cup for Madja to check, and now were getting blood taken to get that tested as well, as well as any other necessary bodily fluids. Symptoms were noted if there were any. It was uncomfortable at best, but Azriel held your hand the entire time, not even wincing when you squeezed his hand a bit too hard for all the scars covering it.
He quickly winnowed the both of you to the House of Wind afterward, having been told the results would take at least a day to get back. He winnowed the both of you straight into his room.
It was dark, curtains drawn and everything, with the barest essentials in it as well as a desk for work, a few maps hanging from the walls, and assortments of fancy knives you knew he mustâve collected over the centuries.
You turned to leave, but his hand grasping your wrist quickly made you turn, tilting your head sideways in mild confusion.
âStay.â
He begged, looking terrified of what you might say, but also hopeful. You sniffled again, nodding and tentatively following him as he gently led you over to the bed, each move like a new dance, one that neither of you had practiced before, but were willing to try.
He slowly stripped his leathers off, letting you see his scarred body and wings for what it truly was. And for once, the sight of his bare body, while very attractive, didnât just make you horny or craving him. It made you appreciate him, who he was at his core. The years heâd spent training and honing his body to protect his Court, the scars heâd suffered protecting his loved ones and serving them; even willing to take it to the end.
You appreciated him. Even in the bad lighting of the room, or the thick shadows swirling everywhere, you appreciated Azriel.
And so, in turn, you began slowly tugging your clothes off, leaving only your undergarments on. His eyes ran over you, respectfully as always, but taking in your vulnerability; who you were beneath the covers, before he gave a small nod.
He walked over to his dresser, pulled out one of his more casual shirts; one that was clean that he hadnât worn in a good while, and walked over to you, standing in front of you as he helped gently tug the opening over your head, guiding your hands to the arm holes, adjusting it for you.
No words were exchanged, and none needed to be, not ad you both crawled into his bed under the blankets, and he enveloped you in an embrace; wings and arms wrapped around you with his head tucked into your neck.
And tonight, you knew for sure that you wouldnât wake up cold and alone like that night so many weeks ago.
No, tonight, you didnât need the warmth of passion or lust to keep you from the biting cold, now you had Azriel by your side, and that was more than enough.

â˘đđ¤đŚâ˘
Summary: Youâre Cassians sister but he hates Eris completely, so how do you chose between them, especially when Eris is your mate
Pairing: Eris x f!reader, Cassian x sister reader, other night court members x reader
â˘Masterlistâ˘

After finding out Eris Vanserra, the oldest of the Autumn Court royalty, was my mate it was a hard pivot from my usual life, growing up with my brother Cassian was almost like I was blessed by the mother above, he always took care of me and made sure I was always happy, then Azriel and Rhysand came along when we were younger and we became our own little family, they treated me like their own sister and as we grew our family grew bigger, Mor came along and then Amren, it was just us for centuries
But then Rhys was trapped under the mountain and we were locked within the Night Court, no way of trying to save him, it took a toll on all of us but then one day it was like the sky became clear and we could breath again, and it was all thanks to my now sister in law, she saved my brother, saved all of pyrinthian
And just like that we had three new members to our family, even though I couldnât find it easy to open my heart to Elain and especially Nesta with how she treats my poor knuckle head of a brother Cassian
The house became quickly overwhelming with how big our inner circle grew and it just became too much so I decided to have a get away for a while, I packed a bag and flew off towards the autumn court to a cabin Lucien said I could barrow
~Flashback~
The cabin was lovely, small but cozy, a fire place in the corner as the walls were adorned with fall decor it was very different from how my home is with the typical blues and greys with sparkles and stars, even though it was beautiful and special to me, the autumn court always called to me
I settled in for the night just me myself and I, the quiet soothing over me with the subtle sound of the wind blowing around the cabin rustling the leaves outside, an occasional hoot breaking the silence, it was purelyâŚâŚ.bliss
I wake abruptly to the door being opened and a man grunting as the door slams, I peak out the bedroom door to see the man that Iâve always been fascinated by but could never approach because Cassian made it clear his hate for Eris, but I saw past that rough demeanour to what was underneath
In just my rich blue silk night dress I creep out of the room to where he was sprawled out on the couch, getting closer I notice his shape, bloody and bruised and he shudders every time he breathes in
My heart skips a beat seeing him likes this kills me for some reason and I barely know him, I sit next to him his eyes shoot open
âAre you okay?â I gently ask not wanting to startle him more
âWhatâre you doing here?â His voice calm but tired
âLucien said I could stay here for a little, I needed some alone time, but thatâs not important what happened to you?â He gently smiles before he groans as he tries to sit up
âThe usual, made the old man mad cause I tried to protect my motherâ
âOh Erisâ I sigh as I brush his silky auburn locks back, I took his hand in mine and channeled my powers not many knew about, my eyes glowing blue like the Velaris stars as I watch his wounds fade away until heâs like brand new even though it drains my energy for a while
âHow did you do that?â He asks as he sits up without any pain and it settles my worrying heart
âItâs my gift the mother blessed me with, I couldnât bare to see you like thatâ and thatâs when I felt it, this snap in my chest like no other that connects me to Eris and I knew that he was the one for me, placing my hand on my chest I look up to see he has the same expression
âIâve waited centuries for you little starâ he smiles that fox like grin that sends a warm shiver down my spine
âMy brothers are going to kill meâ I laugh a little nervous as he brushes my hair back as he cups my cheek
âWeâll figure this outâŚ..maybe we should just keep this between us while we explore thisâ I nod feeling undeniable love and joy between our bond
~Present~
Itâs been a year since Eris and I became mates and itâs been a rollercoaster of many steamy nights as I snuck out to find him, the lust filled glances at meetings or the gentle touches at court balls, the only down side was having to brush off suspecting questions from my family, I want to tell them so badly they mean everything to me but I canât bare to have Cassian be disappointed in me
Today was the annual ball that is held here in the Night court where all the high lords and their families come to mingle and just have a good fun time
Feyre and Mor were finishing up doing the final touches on my hair and makeup, as they treated me like a younger sister, I couldnât stop squirming with excitement, I havenât seen Eris in a week because of how busy weâve both been
âWhatâs got you so happy sunshine?â Mor giggles as she places little gems in my hair
âNothing just canât wait to go to the ballâ
âIs there maybe someone there waiting for you?â Feyre asks as my cheek rise with heat as I avoid their eyes
âIâŚâŚI wish I could tell youâ they stop what their doing and give me their full attention
âSweetheart you know weâd never judge you, weâre your sisters we just want you to be happyâ Mor said as she came around kneeling infront of me making my lip quiver
âYou canât tell anyone pleaseâ they nod
âIâve found my mateâ their eyes explode with shock as they scream and jump around
âHow did we not know who is it? When did this happen?â
âItâs been a year tonight actually, itâs our anniversary, weâre swapping gifts at the ballâ I smile looking at the box I had laid on the counter, a pair of gold rings, a thick band for him adorned with an engraved star and a silver ring for me with a auburn gem and an engraved fox
âGuess we will have to keep an eye out tonight wonât we mor?â Feyre smiles making Mor squeal again making me laugh along
~
Wearing a black dress with subtle rainbow sparkles all along the dress making me feel like a princess as I enter the ball room alongside Cassian, the others already there, the hall was filled with the families of every court, people laughing and chatting as the orchestra played in the corner with drinks flowing
âYou look beautiful sis, please have fun tonight I know how much youâve been doing to help Rhys plan thisâ
âI will I promise, now go find Nesta before she punches someoneâ I say making us both laugh
He gives me a gentle hug before heâs off weaving through the crowds
I glance around the room hoping to find my loving Fox until I felt his presence behind me a cunning whisper in my ear
âNow whatâs a beautiful little star like you doing all alone at a ballâ I turn with the biggest smile just wanting to throw my arms around him, he takes my hand and lead me off to a corner not many are around as he corners me between the walls so no one else could see me as he towered over making my knees weak, the scent of crisp leaves and musk over taking my senses
âIâve missed you so much Erisâ I whisper looking up at him, my hand against his chest
âNot as much as Iâve missed you my love, missed your scentâŚ..your tasteâ he smirks
âEris stop not hereâ I giggle
âHappy anniversary, my gift for you is back in the autumn court, I couldnât really bring it here but Iâll show you tonight okay?â His hand squeezes my waist reassuringly
âCanât wait, hereâs yours, if itâs not your style I can exchange itâ I say nervously as I hand him the box, he smiles as he opens it feeling a thrum of love through the bond
âOh Angel itâs perfectâ he takes mine out and gently slips it over my ring finger I then take his ring and do the same to him
âI love you y/nâ
âI love you too Eris, alwaysâ
âY/n what the hell is going on here?â I jump looking behind Eris to see my whole family standing there, Cassian looking about ready to rip Eris apart, looking to the others Rhys and Azriel looked unsurprised, nor and Feyre smiling, amren was unbothered as usual
âUmmâŚ..IâŚâŚwe were justâŚ..â itâs like my brain was malfunctioning
âTell him sweetieâ Mor smiles
I look back up at Eris who took my hand his warmth easing my racing thoughts
âWell?â Cassian asks unsettled
âErisâŚâŚ.hes my mateâ
The rage I could see immediately fill my brother scared me, he hates me now
âCassian please donât be made I know you donât like him but he loves me he would never hurt meâ I say quickly
âI love her, she the only thing that matters to meâ Eris chimes in his hand going to my lower back to pull me close
âHow could you, how long has this been going on?â
âCome on Cass go easy on herâ Rhysand steps in
âGo easy, sheâs with the man that tormented Mor, heâs pure evilâ
My lip quivers feeling that weight in my chest again
âCas I was with you every time Nesta hurt you, I supported you always even though she hurt me so many times, why canât you just give him a chanceâ Eris holds me even tighter wiping my tears away
âI donât even know who you areâ I grunts as he storms off Azriel and Rhys quick to my side
âIâm sorry brothers I couldnât help it I love him please donât be mad at me tooâ I cry pleadingly not being able to lose them too
âOh my heart we could never, we knew for a while we just wanted to wait till you were ready, we just want to you be happy and if thatâs with Eris here then we can get use to itâ Rhys says rubbing my arm as Azriels precious shadows swirled around my body like little puppies
âBut Cassian hates me nowâ I cry again as Eris pulls me into his chest feeling his worry through the bond
âWeâll talk to himâŚ..maybe you should clear you head and take some time awayâ Azriel says giving Eris a look
âCome on letâs go home my loveâ too upset to fly he winnows us back to the cabin we first found out we were mates
I sigh slumping down on the couch
âStill want you present Angel?â I perk up completely forget I nod as he goes into the bedroom and out runs a puppy Doberman with a pink bow around its neck, it hops on my lap licking all over my face
âMother above sheâs the cutest in the world! You got her for me?â I smile petting her as it calmed me
âI know you love them and thought it would be good practiceâ
âAbout thatâŚâŚI have another surprise for youâ
âAnd what that?â He smiles kneeling infront of us as he plays with the puppy Iâve decided to name clover
âIâm pregnantâ he stops looking up at me
âAre you serious! Weâre having a baby?â I nod as he pulls me into a hug placing kisses all over my face
âWhen did you find out?â
âYesterday, madja did some tests, she said Iâm 2 months alongâ he places a warm hand against my belly
âLetâs get you out this dress and into bed, itâs been a crazy nightâ he states as we walk to the bedroom Clover jump around at our feet
He unzips my dress letting it fall to the floor, gently undoing my hair and helping me into one of him over night shirts, he got ready and we both laid in bed facing eachother with clover curled up against my belly
âHeâll come around you know, he loves you too muchâ
âOh what would I do without youâ I laugh running my fingers through his hair
My wings fluttering at the love he sends me
âGet sleep, weâll figure this out in the morning, in one night our family grew by twoâ soon I was fast asleepâ
~
I wake from a smash coming from the front door frantic footsteps coming straight to the room, I barely had time to react before one of Erisâs brothers burst in dragging me front bed which woke Eris, jumping out of bed clover quivering, Kayden holding my arms behind my back with a sword to my throat
âWhat the hell do you think youâre doing Kydenâ Eris growls his hands glowing with fire
âFather heard your little show last night, he was seething to say the least, really Eris mating with a dirty night court member? Either way father sent me to send you a message just like our dear naive brother Lucienâ in one swift motion he raises his sword and with all his strength slashâs down and the pain that rips through my body is too strong I couldnât even make a noise as I fall too the ground shaking in pain
Clover coming over whining as she paws at my face like she was trying to keep me awake, a ball of fire shoots through the air as Eris screams hearing Kyden retreat
Eris falls to his knees infront of my cradling me trying not to touch my seared open wounds where my wings once remainedâŚâŚâŚmy wings the ones I loved dearly, the memories I had with them as I flew with my brothersâŚ..now gone
âOh my little star hang on okay donât fall asleepâ in a shadow of mist I know heâs winnowing us somewhere but I can barely think the pain all consuming the only thing anchoring me is Clover in my arms and the warmth of Eris and the blood dripping down my back
âErisâ I whisper as the world becomes blotchy
âRHYSAND HELP MEâ he screams out, the smell of my home surrounding me, the lavender and mist jolting me
I see Cassian, Nesta, Azriel and Mor come running up behind Eris, then hearing Rhys and Feyre behind me, frantic scared voices coming from all around me, screams or terror, cries for the healers
Cassian takes my face in his hands as Iâm laid on my side of some bed but I couldnât focus, like I was watching everything from outside my body
âYou better not leave me, I canât lose you my sparkle, youâre my little sis, you hold onâ I hear clover whine again as she comes and curls up under my chin resting her head against the side of my neck protectively
âIâŚâŚIâm sorryâ I sigh as the world finally goes blackâ
~Eris POV~
Watching her in pain, feeling her pain feels like Iâm being punished by the mother above, seeing her bleed out and lose all color, seeing her wings lay limp against the floor then the screams of her family
I sit next to her as she heals, itâs been a week and I canât do a thing but watch her, pray that her chest will rise again after ever breath she takes, hope to the mother that this baby is still there and that sheâll wake and not hate me for what my bastard brother did
Cassian has sat on the chair on the other side of the bed, as white as a ghost
âYou know she wanted to tell you, I saw the way it bothered her not telling you, she always said âmy brother gonna kill meâ but then sheâd giggle that beautiful laugh and tell me a story where you made her feel special, she loves youâ
He sighs resting his head against her hand
âI shouldâve been happy for her, I shouldnât have gotten mad and walked out she wouldnâtâŚ..she didnât do that to me and what if she doesnât wake up and Iâll never be able to tell her thatâ
âDonât talk like that, sheâll wake up she has toâ I almost cry again for the hundredth time resting my hand against her lower belly beside clovers head, she hasnât left her side except to eat I think she could sense it, I could feel the bond sheâs already made with my mate
âNoâŚâŚ.shes pregnant?â Cassian asks looking down to where my hand rests, I nod
âShe told me the night of the ball, part of her anniversary present to me, mine was clover for her, I thoughtâŚâŚI thought everything was finally perfect, I always wanted a child with her and she was so happy, sheâs gonna hate me now for what my brother did to herâ
âI donât think sheâd hate anyone, she definitely wouldnât hate you this past year sheâs been a beam of star light, always happy and I guess if that because of you I canât be mad that youâre her mateâ Cassian says giving me a reassuring nod
Madja comes in to check on her using her magic
âHowâs she doing?â I ask as I pet clover
âSheâs healing well, her back has no signs of infection and the babies are growing at their normal rate, luckily you got here in time before she lost too much bloodâ my heart skips a beat
âBabies? As in more than one?â Cassian asks just as surprised as me
âYes dear youâre having twins, congratsâ she smiled before leaving
~Normal POV~
Gentle voices around me slowly come into focus as I open my eyes as I feel a burning ache along my back, the memories of that night, Kyden taking me, taking my wings who am I without my wingsâŚâŚplease mother above let my baby be okay
âErisâŚ.â I whimper as I try to sit up seeing him and Cassian at my sides, my little clover on my lap
He shoots up from his spot coming up to to caress my cheek feeling the warmth I love
âOh my little star, howâre you feeling can I get you anything?â I could feel his fear through the bond and all I could do was look at him
âIâm sorryâŚâŚI shouldâve locked the door or we shouldâve stayed in the night court and now Iâm hideousâŚ..my wingsâŚ.â I cry finally feeling everything
âOh my love donât ever say that, none of this is your fault, Kyden will pay for hurting you and youâre still by beautiful mate Iâll be with you every second to heal from this, youâre gonna be a strong motherâ
âSheâs still okay?â I ask feeling clover place her head over my belly
âBoth of them actuallyâŚ.theyre healthyâ
âTwins? Oh wow I canât believe thisâ
âYouâll be okay sis, Iâm sorry I reacted like that but Iâll never make you feel like that againâ Cassian sighs placing a kiss to my hand
âI understand, itâs not your fault Iâm just happy youâre still here with meâ I smile weakly as Eris keeps kissing my face
âYou know you scared me, I never wanna see you like that again, feeling our bond weaken was the worst painâ Eris groaned as clover came up to nudge him away
âEverythingâs okay now! We can all be a family now right?â I look between them
âAlwaysâ
âAlwaysâ
~
Healing was hard, having to walk again without the weight of my wings, Azriel helped me a lot when Cassian was busy, he let me play with his shadows when I felt discouraged and Iâd tumble over
Rhys made sure I always had everything I wanted even if I didnât know I needed it, bringing me all the food cravings I wanted, Feyre leaving me my favourite flowers, Mor gifting me with new clothes now that I didnât have wings and had a baby belly, Clover stayed at my side every moment and she grew at light speed already to my hip, letting my lean against her as I walked, Elain and Nesta still didnât bother with me which still hurt, and my dear Eris treating me like a speck of a diamond like if break at any moment but I couldnât blame him, always rubbing my belly, braiding my hair when it got annoying, holding me extra close every night
Iâm due any day now and Iâm nervous to say the least, I just want to be a good mom and I know how worried Eris is too, scared heâll become like his father
I wobble my way into the bedroom and change into my night gown, clover helping bump me up onto the bed before she jumps up after me, like always here head lay on my lamp, her puppy eyes looking up at me
âYou excited to meet a mini me and Eris?â I giggle when she huffs and rubs her snout against my belly
âIf it isnât my two favorite girls already waiting for meâ Eris chimes as he enters the room hoping into bed with us, his strong arms wrapping around me as he pulls me into a passionate kiss taking my breath away
âI missed you my loveâ
âI missed you more, these babies are little rascals they keep fightingâ
âDefinitely mineâ he laughs as I lay my head on his chest
âOh I forgot to tell you, Azriel brought me something today, might be strange but he thought it would give you closureâ he got out of bed going into the hallway and bringing in a huge shadow box
âWell turn it around donât leave me in suspense!â He bites his lip before turning it I gasp
Within the shadow box is my wings spread out and framed beautifully, the background black with rainbow sparkles, the wings must be enchanted to stay preserved, walking up to it I lay my hand against the glass
âI want them back Erisâ I cry as he settles them down by the wall
âI know my love and if I could Iâd do anything to give them backâ he says pulling me into a hug
âCome on letâs get you to bedâ
âYou go on Iâm gonna go tell Azriel thanks, Iâm be back in a second okay?â He nods giving me one last kiss
Walking down the hall until I get to his room where the shadows come out from under the door curling around my feet and tickling
âCome inâ he calls before I even knock
I walk in and go straight to him on the bed whereâs heâs sat reading
âI wanted to say thank you for the gift, I really love it to still see them, I miss it though, flying around and feeling the wind in my hairâ
âOnce you have my darling niece and nephew Iâll take you, I promiseâ I smile and squeeze his hand until I feel a huge pressure release and then the bed is wet
âOh gosh Azriel Iâm so sorryâ he jumps up and scoops me in his arms
âAngel youâre having your babies I think my bed can handle itâ he walks back past my room calling for Eris and he was quick on our tail along with Clover following to madja
~
After hours of contractions it was time, screaming I push feeling like I was being shredded until I hear that little cry
âSheâs beautiful, she has wings my loveâ Eris cries as he wipes my head with a cool cloth the rest of the family sat around the room watching anxiously Cassian now holding my little girl in a blanket
âOh itâs happening againâ I whine feeling the push again
âCome on youâre almost thereâ and finally the pain, the pressure was gone and my babies were here
Eris holds my baby boy up to me, his little wisp of curly ginger hair, his skin adorned with freckles, his eyes a deep auburn
Cassian holding my girl for me, little deep grey wings with a hue of purple, her hair chocolate brown and lilac eyes, I take them both in my arms as the others come around to marvel and my babies
âTheyâre beautifulâ I smile as Eris sits next to me holding me to his chest
âYou did amazing my little star, the mother has truly blessed meâ
âHer wingsâŚâŚ.theyre just like mineâ I feel a part of me heal at that knowing sheâll be free like I was and knowing my boy will be strong like his father
âWhatâre you gonna name them?â Feyres asks
âWeâre thinking sheâll be Cassi for my dear brother and heâll be Aris a mix between Eris and Azrielâ they smile as I feel Azriels shadows at my hands
âDonât worry Rhysand next time Iâll include youâ I say making him laugh
âDonât worry, Iâm proud of you Angel, we all areâ
âOur little family just got a bit biggerâ

You know Nesta really is HER.
She laughed at the children of the blessed.
She can see through Fae glamours and magic.
She told the human queens they were cowards.
She stole from the Cauldron.
She had the Cauldron, the most revered artifact of the fae that has the ability to create life and destroy everything by basically being the womb of the Mother, terrified of her to the point it went after anyone else but her.
She slapped her sisterâs toxic fiancĂŠ in the face and told him he never deserved her anyway after he insulted her.
She scared off her baby sisterâs toxic ex, told him off for his treatment of her sister, pointed her finger at him, and told him sheâd rip his head off if he told anyone they were in spring.
She changed the entire trajectory of the books bc Sarah just couldnât hate her
Sarahâs original plan was to have her with Lucien but the moment Nesta and Cassian saw each other it was a done deal and Sarah (basically the real life mother/cauldron) had to rewrite the books.
She did the math on how many ships the human lands would need in order to evacuate from the war.
She scared a death lord with her Made Sword
She can willed all three dread troves and has a special connection with them to the point of being able to portal them to her
She has a special connection to THE MOTHER. And a bargain with the Cauldron.
Sheâs been called a Death God, Kingslayer, Lady Death, Queen of Queens, Witch, Pillager of Death, Witch from Oorid, and Death Herself.
She is a Valkyrie and Oristian.
She encouraged some of the priestesses from the library (ones who have spent centuries in there without leaving) to join training by showing them there was nothing to fear.
She got a a usually disdainful blacksmith to smile with her inquisitiveness.
She marked the king with a death promise then beheaded him in the war when she got the chance. And held up his head in victory of her promise being acomplished.
She killed the first Kelpie seen in hundreds of years. Beheaded it and held itâs head in the same way.
She awoke a House and made it sentimental by befriending it with her magic.
She stabbed a manâs dick in the Blood Rite.
She led her team through the Blood Rite. Like any good General would do.
She held the line, giving up the chance of the win, so her found sisters could survive.
She spoke about becoming the leader of the first complete female fighting group in Prythian after five hundred years.
She had actual Death Gods speaking highly of her. Fearing her too.
The most powerful high lord in prythian feared her.
She unmade someone to avenge her mate. Her power stopped time when she unleashed it fully. She saved her sister, nephew, and brother-in-law all in the same morning after completing the blood rite. Gave up a fraction of her power for it, but made a bargain with the cauldron and spoke with the mother. Told her baby sister âI love youâ for the first time, this was also the first time Nesta had ever said ily out loud to anyone. Decided that she wanted to have a mating ceremony. Hugged her brother-in-law after his mate and babe almost died even though they had some issues. Again all of this happened in the same morning.
She gave her Mask to an untrustworthy friend and by doing so saved both Prythian and Midgard. Perhaps other worlds and universes too.
She has infinite rangeđđđ
Please add anything that I left out! My girl has done so much I forget to list them all.

A Court Of Burning Seasons || Introduction
â > eris vanserra x archeron!reader, elain archeron x lucien vanserra
⢠Introduction: get a glimpse into elain and y/n life and feelings (eris and lucien arenât yet present, but they will soon appear, donât worry!)
⢠Summary: [Y/N] Archeron always felt the pull of autumn, even as a human. The fallen leaves, the warm colours, the spicy sweets, even her birthday. For Elain, it was the sun and the way of feeding her gardens and flowers with its light. Together in the Night Court after being thrown into the Cauldron, they both feel out of place. But while Elain has her growing bond with Lucien, [y/n] remains an outsider. With her powers still silents even after years, she feels a longing she can't quite place. A mating bond with Eris Vanserra is the last thing she expects and also what she seemed to need. But nothing is ever easy as it seems in Prythian, especially not with Beron impeding presence and courts rivalries always finding a way of creating complications.
⢠Warnings: just some angst for now
⢠Word count: 764

Y/N Archeron didnât care about greatness.
She never had.
All she ever wanted, the only wish she had in her once so humble life, was to belong. It was a desire she always carried quietly, in the silence she always refuged in. But it was also something that had never come true. Not in the human lands, where she had lived as a human, and much less in Prythian, as an High Fae.
She never had a home. And she never would. Not truly.
The cottage she had shared with her sisters and father had been the closest sheâd ever come to it. Small, ruined, and cold as it was, it had protected them after they had lost everything. The grand mansion her father had been granted after Feyreâs absence⌠it had never felt like hers.
It had been filled with comfort and luxury, but not the kind she had always hoped for. It still wasnât home.
And the Night Court? It felt more like a prison.
Everyone there seemed to have found their place, their role. Everyone except her.
And maybe that was the problem. She didnât want a role. She didnât want greatness, power, a role to fulfil or anything extraordinary.
All she wanted was something far simpler, deeper. To belong. To find her place.
And though she didnât know it yet, the Cauldron granted her just that. Not out of kindness, its magic didnât work that way, it didnât just make gifts. It acted out of balance, a cruel sort of revenge. A retribution for what Nesta had taken from it. Y/n hadnât been granted any special powers like her sisters. No visions, no death-defying strength. Her power was small, normal, unremarkable.
Ordinary.
But it was so much more than that.
It was a power that tied her to a court where an unexpected mating bond awaited her.
She had spent her whole life feeling like a shadow, her mask of silence always misguided as fear, fragility and weakness. Yet the Cauldron couldnât be fooled, and it had given her nothing and everything at the same time.
It had given her the chance to belong, to unravel what had always been there. To become what she was always destined to be.
And soon enough, she would have to decide the path she was willing to take to understand what it really meant.
Across the Night Court, Elain Archeron was in a similar situation.
As a human, she had always known what it meant to belong. She belonged to the soft vibrant greens of her gardens. To the colours of the flowers she coxed into beautiful blooms. But the Cauldron ripped that belonging away from her.
For years, she had believed it was all gone. Her gardens. Her future. Her happiness, which she thought she would never find again. But slowly, as she forced herself to face this new reality, she began to realize the truth.
The lie she had been feeding herself.
She hadnât lost happiness. She had never found it in the first place. And now, for the first time, she wanted more.
Despite all her efforts, Velaris wasnât the place for her. Not the city of starlight, and not even the Court of Dreams. She didnât belong to the coolness of the night, she belonged to the heat of the sun.
All she ever wanted was to have a choice.
The Cauldron, though, didnât care about what she wanted. It had given her a new body that wasnât hers, the immortality she didnât ask for, and a power that felt more of a curse than a gift.
And it had given her something else too.
A mate.
Elain had never asked for the bond with Lucien. Didnât want him. She had spent years pretending it didnât exist, pretending she didnât feel the pull of it, as strong as it was at every tug.
She had told herself she didnât want him.
But no matter what she told herself, Lucien was there. Not only in her dreams, but in her visions too. And in the quiet moments where her thoughts drifted. It didnât matter how hard she tried, she couldnât deny the truth.
Not anymore.
She yearned for what he offered: the warmth of belonging.
So she made a choice. A choice that would change everything. A choice for herself.
She decided to give the bond - and him - a chance.
And that choice will change everything.
And in that choice she would find what she had been searching all along. Not to see, but to be seen.

A special Tamlin Week surprise: Tamlin reads your fics!
The mods here at Tamlin Week are SO delighted and honored to present Henry Kramer, Tamlin's voice actor of the ACOTAR graphic audio books, reading Tamlin fanfiction lines in character.
None of this would be possible without @laziestkiwi, who messaged us and got us in touch with Henry. We crowdsourced some of your favorite fanfic lines, and sent them to Henry to peruse. He picked a few of those lines to read and recorded them FOR FREE!
If you enjoy Henry's work as much as we do, be sure to follow him on Twitch, Instagram, or Facebook. You can also get in touch with him on his website here to commission him for voice acting work.
As a side note: We sent Henry almost 60 lines of fanfiction, with no expectation that he would read every single one. The lines read were chosen by Henry, who is not involved in fandom in any way. The chosen lines and authors do not represent any favoritism by the mods here, they were simple the quotes that spoke most to Henry.
And now, on to the main event! Tamlin bringing your fanfiction to life!
Bravery Is In Spite Of Fear by @achaotichuman
âYou never lost me.â He murmured, pressing another kiss, this one to her brow, âYou have never lost me.â
Am I making you feel sick? by @yaralulu
Be angry. Show me how angry you are.
When Lucien opened his mouth to say another irritable thing, Tamlin shut him up the only way he knew how. He kissed him.
Eternal Equinox by @sonics-atelier
Spring and Autumn, now as one,  A union blessed beneath the sun.  Through seasonsâ turn, their love shall bloom,      Eternal life through earthâs perfume.
carry that weight by @fourteentrout
"I need to protect my people in the ways I know how. I'm needed out there more than I am in here." He answered anyway, nodding towards the forest beyond the grounds.
âDoes that unmake me? Am I a new being with every form I take?â The High Lord asked without bite. âI am who I am.â
borrowed time by @ipona
"I meant what I said." He looks at Rhys, catching his gaze, holding it for a moment longer than Rhys expects him to. "And who of us isn't a brute, really?"
Songs of Spring by @themildestofwriters
âItâs a song about hope,â Tamlin said, finally, slouching forward and meeting Tarquinâs eyes. âAbout how, even after the darkest times, I could still find happiness â joy, even. It might take years, decades, centuries, even, but it will pass as surely as night turns to day.â
Tarquin nodded, understanding, and smiled. âOr as winter turns to summer. A true song of Spring, then.â
cosmogeny by @highlordofkrypton
It takes Tamlin a moment to find the words heâd like to gift to Nyx. No matter what they are, Nyx will cherish them, as he has with any other moment in the presence of his light. When Tamlin speaks, itâs with a wistful smile on his handsome face.
âBecause Iâve just met you, and itâs always a shame to lose someone, especially someone youâre fond of.â
How Nesta Archeron Learned to Trap A Beast by @achaotichuman
âReady?â Tamlin asked. Nesta didnât answer him, just walked into the forests before them. Tamlin let her get far enough into the tree lines that he couldnât see her before he shouted, âWrong way!â âFuck you!â
âIâm here. Iâm here Nesta.â He said. âStay with me.â She whispered, âPlease.â There was a moment of pure silence, one that bore into her heavy soul. âI would never leave.â He promised her, âNever.â
The Gown by @goforth-ladymidnight
"I love you, thorns and all, and I always will."

Sometimes i think about how the reason Elriel shippers are Elriel shippers is because of all the evidence that is canonically in the books. All those interactions, all the details, all the intentional writing dedicated to creating a need to see them together. So many indicative moments: Elain who was raised afraid of fae, overcoming the fear after meeting AzrielâŚElain learning to cope with the loss of her humanity, largely because of Azrielâs presence in her lifeâŚFeyre noting how Elain clings to Azriel for comfortâŚAzriel being the one to realize Elain is a seer, when the healer who visits her specifically says âIf anyone can sense if something is amiss, itâs a mateâ and Lucien only thinks she has gone madâŚAzriel being the only one to notice Elainâs absence when the cauldron tricks herâŚAzriel risking his life for Elain and not being able to put her down even after she is safeâŚElain being depicted as a soft and delicate character but when Azriel is in danger, she kicks a naga-hound in the face to protect himâŚAzriel giving Elain truthtellerâŚElain giving Azriel gifts each solstice while she doesnât give Lucien anythingâŚ.The bonus chapter confirming that both Elain and Azriel want each other and how deeply connected they are that they can communicate even without speaking (i. e. Elain verbally saying yes to the kiss, even though Azriel doesnât voice the question). Their relationship is one of the most special and precious in the series. The reason i love Feysand so so much, is the way they made each other want to live again. It was the most beautiful thing to see, the way they gave each other hope again. The thing is, with Feyre, her main struggle is believing she is not enoughâŚwith Nesta, it is believing she is too muchâŚbut Elain, she believes she is nothing at all. I think Elain is afraid of being invisible, at least to those she loves. She craves someone who truly sees her and the most observant person in the series is Azriel, who has always, always seen her. From the very beginning, with him noticing her fingers around the fork.
We are slowly approaching the finish line of waiting for the sixth book, and i am convinced that it is Elrielâs time. It has been such a long time of bickering about the ships and the dynamics and all, but i would like to say that there are so many reasons that Elriel supporters love this shipâŚand i canât wait to finally see it officially set sail.

-----
Story preview: Y/N Erling - youngest descendent to the King of Vallahan, not special, youngest of seven girls and four boys, and certainly not next in line to the throne. A kind soul, free-natured, always does what's asked. Content with spending the rest of her fae life taking care of her nieces and nephews while her elder siblings dealt with court dealings. That was until they drew up an agreement - her hand in exchange for their agreement to the treaty with Prythian. Enter Eris Vanserra - new high lord who did not want a wife, nor a mate. Can they work it out together - under pressure from a blood rite, a language barrier, a culture barrier, and Eris' unfortunate attempts at flirting.
-----
chapter three - the seed
Third POVÂ
Eris Vanserra the entire next day spent his free time with his dagger and a thick piece of wood. Even during meetings, he would take the two items out â nicking his fingers only a few times, yet continued with what he was doing. Anytime someone questioned what he was doing, he either ignored the question or changed the subject. However, after half a day it finally began to take shape and he couldnât hide it from prying eyes all day â he had to finish after all.Â
âIs that a flower?â His eldest and most trusted brother, Garreth, questioned. âIs it for your betrothed?âÂ
âShut up.â Eris responded, working on a petal of it, using his flames to catch the end of it on fire before putting it out â giving it a tinted colour. âYes.âÂ
âI never knew you were a romantic, dear brother.â His other brother, Marcus, spoke that time â nodding in approval. âIf you use the dull side of the knife, you can add details to it.âÂ
âI didnât ask for your advice, you two.â As he spoke, he took his brothers advice anyway, adding small details to the stem.Â
âNo, because knowing how stubborn you are youâd refuse to ask, even if you needed it desperately.â Â
âSometimes I really hate you two.âÂ
âLove you too, brother.â Marcus stood, leaving the room to attend to duties he had most likely, leaving the other two siblings.Â
âWhen do you see her again?â Garreth wondered, admiring his brother's newfound hobby.Â
âTomorrow, after the meeting. Iâm taking her for a walk through the forest, here.â Â
âSeeing her again so soon? Smitten are we, brother?â Eris didnât respond right away, and his brothers teasing smile widened. âItâs about time, you deserve to be happy.âÂ
âAgree to disagree.â Was his only response, as he stood up, âWe have a meeting with some new advisors in a bit. Weâd better get going.âÂ
He left before his brother could say anything more. He let out a sigh,Â
âStubborn lovestruck fool.âÂ
-----Â
âHe what?!â Nesta dropped the book she was holding onto, letting it fall to her lap â page forgotten.Â
âDid you not hear me?â Y/N cocked her head to the side, getting used to Prythian sayings still.Â
âNo, no I heard you; it just startled me â I didnât expect it.â Nesta picked her book back up, cursing as she looked for her page, sticking her bookmark in randomly. âWhen did you-?âÂ
âI was looking out Nyxâs window, overlooking the river, and a figure caught my attention â he appeared out of nowhere before standing in front of the door. He stood for a while I feared he was a criminal.â Y/N laughed a bit, âBut then I thought, what criminal shows up in the light? Until Cassian took him inside. Then it clicked when I saw his face turn.âÂ
âDo you think it clicked for him too?â Â
âI donât know. He was quiet.â Â
âThatâs out of character for him, actually.â Nesta sipped her tea, settling her book down just as Morrigan strolled in.Â
âWhatâre we talking about?â She plopped onto the couch beside Y/N, tucking her feet underneath her. âBoys?âÂ
âAh, yes!â Â
âEris is Y/Nâs mate.â Nesta spoke the same time as Y/N, blunt in stating the facts.Â
âWHAT?â Morrigan sat up straight, her feet falling to the floor, âSince when?!âÂ
âTwo days ago.â Y/N answered this time, fidgeting with the edge of her shirt â it was a pale green, a sharp contrast to her dark pants curtesy of Morrigan. She had been supplying Y/N with clothing more common in Prythian, rather than just dresses in Vallahan. âI just spoke it, Iâm nervous today.âÂ
âTo spend time with him today?â Â
âYes. I gift him two carvings last time.âÂ
âIâm sure he likes them, is that what youâre worried about?âÂ
âI donât know, a feeling.â The girlsâ conversation was cut short, a knock happening at the door. âAh, him?â Â
Nesta opened the door, settling aside as it was indeed the Autumn high lord. He was dressed casually, a stark difference to his usual attire. A white buttoned shirt with green trousers. Â
âGood morning,â Eris greeted the room, which was coincidentally full of women he feared. He spoke next just to Y/N. âAre you ready, then?âÂ
âYes,â She nodded, walking towards him, following him outside the door to go past the townhouseâs wards.Â
âAh, donât be out too late, children!â A voice shouted from the second-floor window,Â
âFuck off, Cassian!â Was Erisâ reply before he turned his back to the window, holding out a hand. âHave you winnowed before?âÂ
âYes, from Vallahan with Morrigan. It is a funny feeling.â Y/N confirmed, taking his large warm hand in her own, ignoring the feeling of electricity going up her arm raising the hair in its wake.Â
âOh before we go,â Eris let go to dig in his pocket, producing a beautifully carved wooden lily, âI wanted to follow your custom, to the best of my ability â Iâm afraid I donât know how to carve stone.âÂ
âHow did you colour it?â Y/N wondered aloud, inspecting its darkened petals, and even darker stem. It wasnât paint, or charcoal.Â
âI carefully burned it,â He demonstrated by holding up his hand, which produced light blue flames, which faded into orange ones, before flickering out. âThe hotter the flame the darker the colour, it just takes control to be able to not disintegrate the entire thing... Do you like it?âÂ
âI love it,â Her smile was so wide it looked as if her cheeks hurt, she carefully put it into her pocket on her breast, patting it for safe keeping. âI canât wait to display on my bed table. Thank you.â Â
âYouâre very welcome,â He stuck his hand out again, as she grasped it â finally winnowing to the middle of the forest, a path he often took his hounds on. âMorrigan said you enjoyed flowers, there are a bunch a bit up the trail.âÂ
Eris took in Y/N, who was taking in the scenery around her. She just now looked up, from bending over at the knees after winnowing. Her face lit up; she twirled slowly looking at everything around her. The different types of trees and leaves, at their many colours, even to the different insects buzzing around.Â
âWhat are that?â Y/N wondered aloud, bending down to look at a tiny thing at the base of a tree, nearly covered by the foliage. She carefully poked at it â recoiling at the texture. Eris held in a small laugh,Â
âThatâs a mushroom,â He pulled one out of the ground, and showed her the underneath â which had her touching it, feeling the odd textures. âDo they not have mushrooms where you hail?âÂ
âOn plates for eating, not like this.â She turned her head, instead inspecting something on a fallen tree trunk, âWhat this?âÂ
âThat would be an ant,â He watched her in wonder, what else did she not know of? âDo they have any forests where youâre from?âÂ
âNo,â She started walking, he sped to catch up to her, âWe only have mountains, so high up that not many things grow. I saw grass for the first time when I came here. It feels nice.âÂ
Eris wasnât sure what to say to that, in truth he felt a little pity â she never climbed trees as a child? She never ran barefoot through a meadow, chased by her siblings as they played a game? Too lost in thought he hadnât realized she disappeared.Â
âY/N?â He spoke, a bit alarmed at where she could have gone and thought the worst. His resolve relaxed when he heard a giggle from above and looked up â she was in the tree. Hanging upside down, her hair hanging below her. âWhat by the mother are you doing?âÂ
âHanging around,â She smiled, as he came closer, âIt like climbing rocks at home.âÂ
âBe careful, I donât need you dying on our first date, please.â Eris joked, as she dismounted with ease, landing on her feet â when did she take her shoes off?Â
âI wonât,â Y/N confirmed, running off to look at something else new, and the more Eris thought she reminded him of his hounds, always so curious to look at something new. âEris?âÂ
He could get used to hearing his name on her lips.Â
âYes?â As he approached, she turned around, and he was appalled. âWhere in Prythian did you get that? How did you even pick it up?âÂ
âIt was in bushes, friendly like a cat.â In her hands, was an entire fox. It was currently sniffing her hair yet not being hostile.Â
âAre you a fox-whisperer?â Eris questioned, cautiously walking forward to take a look at it. It didnât seem injured, rather relaxed if anything. He reached out to lightly pet it, and it didnât bite him.Â
âAnimals like me,â Y/N smiled, giving it a hug before releasing it back into its bush, waving goodbye.Â
âWhatever you say, mother-fox.â He held up his hands, watching once more as Y/N returned to the trail before wandering off to the side to look at something, a comfortable silence taking over before the light ahead got closer â the meadow.Â
âAh,â Y/N ran forward, hitting the meadow at full speed â her calves being tickled by the wildflowers and tall grass, âIt feels funny!âÂ
Eris sat on a raised rock, where he often sat when he needed alone time, enjoying watching Y/N run circles around him, almost dancing in the meadow. When she spotted a new flower she stopped abruptly, bending to look at it, sniffing it, and moving on. It must have been about ten minutes before she finally collapsed beside him, lying flat on her back out of breath.Â
âHave fun?âÂ
âYes. Though, it remind me of a word I do not know in your tongue.â She sat up, leaning on her elbows.Â
âTry to describe it, maybe I know it?â Â
âI canât, itâs too...â She seemed to have gotten an idea, she pointed to the bottom of her foot, âHere.âÂ
Eris stayed silent, unknowing what she could mean, until she grasped his foot that was on the rock, crossed on his knee. She began untying his boot, pulling it off with force that almost knocked her over, and then pulled his sock off,Â
âWhat by the mother are you doing?âÂ
âTrust!â Was all she said, before pushing his foot off, and as it touched the grass and wildflowers though, he pulled it back up, holding in a laugh â his knee jerk reaction being what she pointed at, âThat!âÂ
âMy reaction?â She nodded, âIt tickled, are you ticklish?âÂ
âAh! Tick-Lish!â Y/N confirmed, âThe meadow is tick-lish.âÂ
âThereâs a new word for you, today.â Eris smirked as he pulled his sock and shoe back on, not choosing to go barefoot like she had.Â
âWell technically my word of day was âradishâ, but I like tick-lish better.â Erisâ nose scrunched,Â
âWhy radish?âÂ
âI bit into it thinking it was baby apple, not apple. I did not like.âÂ
âI donât blame you, I donât either.âÂ
âTell me more, about you.â Y/N spoke, sitting cross legged across from him, he copied how she was sitting to look at her fully. âWhat colour do you like?âÂ
âMy favourite colour?â He confirmed, she nodded, âI like green. A deep green â almost like moss. What about you? Whatâs yours?âÂ
âI like... (You can insert your own favourite colour, and what it reminds you of : ) mines light green, like a diluted sage green.)â She thought for a moment, âDo you have siblings?âÂ
âI do; I had six brothers.âÂ
âNo sisters? Your poor mother!â Eris laughed at that, his mother had said the exact thing to herself at one point, âI have you beat, though.âÂ
âBy the cauldron, how many siblings do you have?âÂ
âTen,â His eyes widened,Â
âYour poor mother,â Y/N laughed at that, âAre there any twins or triplets?âÂ
âAh, three sets of twins. Do you?âÂ
âNone, just single babies. I know youâre the youngest, too. Iâm the oldest.âÂ
âWe are the opposites!âÂ
âWe are, though I hear we did the same thing, take care of babies.â Y/N smiled at this,Â
âAh, I love babies, they are so cute! Like... Well, I canât think of anything really cute right now, but it would be really cute!âÂ
âThey are, arenât they?â Eris smiled, thinking of baby Lucien, the last baby he had taken care of. âWant to hear a secret?âÂ
Y/N nodded frantically, scooching closer as if they werenât alone in the clearing,Â
âThe last baby I took care of, my youngest brother Lucien,âÂ
âAh! Eyeball!âÂ
âYes, him, you know how the autumn court is known for its fire powers, yes?âÂ
âYes, orange leaves like fire, is how I remember.âÂ
âIndeed. Lucien, when he first laughed â let out a glow of light, so bright as if he swallowed faelight. I couldnât explain it, neither could the one maid I had asked, worried I had messed him up,âÂ
âWhat was it?âÂ
âWell, come to find out, dearest Lucien and I have different fathers. My mother, had met her mate, and had conceived Lucien as a result.âÂ
âWho is her mate?âÂ
âOh, no one, just... The High Lord of Day.â The way Y/Nâs eyes widened looked painful, as she clasped her mouth with her hands, âThat reaction was how I felt when I found out, trust me. My poor mother had to explain it to a fifteen-year-old me, mortified.âÂ
âThe lady of autumn... Married to high lord of autumn, but mated to the high lord of day! What happened? Where is she now?âÂ
âOh, she lives in day with him now, she is now high lady of day. She never really loved my father; their arrangement was purely political. She wasnât too torn up when he died. Delighted, actually.âÂ
âI would be sad,â Eris looked up, meeting Y/Nâs eyes, wide. âIf you died, I mean.âÂ
âOh, I hadnât meant to bring up... You know. Our political arrangement, not in that light anyway, I really donât want it in that light anyway â I donât want to be my father, nor you my mother-â His rambling got cut short, a delicate hand grasping his own,Â
âI know, Eris.â Y/N smiled encouragingly, âI met your father, once. I was young, apparently, I didnât like him.â Â
âWhen was this?â Eris questioned, completely unaware that this had taken place,Â
âI was a babe, he made the trip to secure us with Hybern, my older sister, Vidia, told me that at one point he came to say hello to me and my siblings, to show his good-ness to my parents.â She laughed hard at remembering, âApparently, when he held me, I had not only spit up all over him but also blew-out my diaper. It had gone everywhere, and the more he moved, the more it got worse-âÂ
She couldnât talk anymore, full on cackling at this point â and Eris had joined her, delighted at the idea of his father covered in not only vomit, but also shit. Literally. When their laughter died down, Eris grasped her hand back, a genuine smile on his face.Â
âOh, I think the mother had known what she had done, putting us together.â Y/N looked up from their hands, quickly to his face,Â
âPut us together?â He paled,Â
âOh, I didnât- shit.â He pulled his hand away, âCauldron, I had a whole speech planned to tell you, and a picnic, and I wanted to wait awhile until I sprung that on you, but I was too caught up in the moment-âÂ
He was interrupted by Y/N launching herself into him, nearly knocking him off of the rock, securing her hands around his shoulders, Â
âI knew you felt it too! Though I do like picnics, if that is an option, still.âÂ
âI- you knew too? When?â Eris was at a loss for words,Â
âI saw you outside Nyxâs window, you were stood at the door â for a while.âÂ
âYou saw that!? Thatâs humiliating! I was so scared to meet you!â Eris groaned, rubbing his hand down his face, as Y/N laughed a bit. Â
âWhen did you know?âÂ
âWhen I saw you singing to Nyx, it was lovely. I was completely entranced by your singing. Youâre so caring to Nyx, too.âÂ
âOh, that is better than standing at a doorway for ten minutes.â Eris groaned again, âKidding!âÂ
âYou arenât upset? About the bond?âÂ
âAh, no. I grew up hearing stories of it, how wonderful it is. Even now, with everyone at home with a mate. It is beautiful. What about you? You are high lord; you have a lot to do right now...âÂ
âI am, and Iâm ecstatic. Ah, that means very happy. I do have a lot right now, and it might take a while for me to fully be able to devote my time to you, but in the meantime... Iâm more than happy to spend my free time with you, my free days wherever you want, here or there.âÂ
âWe can go slow; we have all the time.â Y/N concluded, as Eris agreed, pressing a light kiss to the back of her hand,Â
âThough, we shouldnât announce it yet, to anyone other than who needs to know. I have a lot of enemies at the moment, especially in autumn. I do not wish for them to harm you.âÂ
âI might have told Nesta. And Morrigan.âÂ
âThatâs fine, I trust them. Theyâre good at holding secrets. Plus, I told my brothers last night, they practically pestered me until I told them what I was hiding.âÂ
âOkay, then only Nesta, Morrigan and your brothers?âÂ
âWorks for me,â Eris nodded, standing, âItâs been three hours, I should probably get you home, before they come to strangle me. Nesta scares me.âÂ
âAh, good idea. I promised to put Nyx down for his afternoon nap.âÂ
âIâll see you next week? For our next afternoon together? Same time?âÂ
âYes,â Y/N smiled, and Eris smiled back.Â
Both of them excited for what the future holds, for the first time in forever.Â

if we ignore all the ways the text itself makes it clear elainâs book (with az) is next and just look at the marketing/publicity side, i still donât see how people can deny that elriel is next:
- the coloring book including the TT scene
- the illustrated dust jackets with nessian and elriel for acofas
- the countless magazine articles saying they believe elriel is next (time, E! news, etc)
- the decision to make the azriel bonus chapter exclusive to BAM but the feysand one to B&N, which has a much larger audience of readers and then reprint the feysand one in the special editions
- interviews where sjm said sheâs already started writing elainâs book and had âdreams of ivy choking herâ (if we go with their assumption that elain is book 7 and gwynriel is book 6 except you donât start writing book 7 before book 6 so why would she have been writing elainâs back in 2018ish?)
this is all just off the top of my head so there could be more. and thatâs just without analyzing the text, which in itself practically screams elriel!!! iâve talked with 2 of my friends who are casual readers and none of them even know that gwynriel existed as a possibility bc of how outlandish it was. and if that is how casual readers in 2025 are STILL reacting to gwynriel, there is absolutely no way she would spring a ship that doesnât exists in canon on her readers! at least mor and emerie was hinted at in acosf so if they get a book together, it at least makes sense bc it was explained on the page in the actual books. i just donât understand how people can deny both the text and marketing decisions at this point
The second Sjm stopped mentioning Elucien in her videos and became âhushâ âhushâ about Elains Li - it was ringing bells that elucien is no longer endgame. But youâre completely right, lets *solely* talk about the marketing aspect of this. Buckle in, this is long.
*Before we begin, Letâs make it clear by Acowar/Acofas - Sjm definitely knew what was happening in acotar 4 = acosf and Acotar 5, she herself said both those books lay crumbs and foreshadowing for the future.
The colouring book that did quite well & rated highly on goodreads. It contains all the significant moments @elrielsgarden recently did a post talking about it but lets focus on the elucien/elriel scenes we get.
There is no elucien scene within the coloring book. The closest is this, the scene where Elain is standing next to Lucien. Where his focus is on Nesta and Elains focus elsewhere.

Then Mass chooses to include a scene between elriel: When you look at this scene, what do you remember?

This passage:

as much as antis say this scene is insignificant and means nothing - Sjm, the author herself clearly found it to be important enough to be included within the coloring book.
So, Here Mass included the iconic truthteller scene yet if elucien is endgame - why did she not include a single significant scene between them? Why elriel? It could have been Lucien giving Elain his cloak in acomaf? It could have been a picture of them sitting together when they first talked. Anything YET eluciens get nothing, so what exactly is the point? What marketing technique is this? Why did she want to include an elriel scene but not Elucien.
Moving onto the dust jackets:

Like, come on. You cannot tell me this wasnât done on purpose, Mass knew what she was doing - so again, if elucien was endgame, why isnât he apart of this? Why isnt he next to Elain?
You close the book, Nessian land on each other. Elriel land om each other. If Nessian is endgame and this was for a romantic hint/purpose. well. Following that logic - the same reason applies for elriel, another hint at Elains final endgame.
Keeping all of this in mind so far - Letâs look at some interviews from Sjm:

Letâs combine all of these to get a general gist of the spinoffs:
3 spinoffs = 3 novels. It was in acowar where Sjm started writing a story and realised she wanted to explore new characters- Thereâs a few characters I say Acowar diverts too that are ânewâ: Vassa, Helion/LoA, Miryam. She also says she planned and researched for Elains book. But the two most important things to me are 1) She knew Nessian were next AND what she wanted for the second novel. The third novel she left the door open for, logically; If the next book is elucien, Mass would have already known who Az ended with therefore knew what the last book would be about, Gwynriel. Vice versa. If Gwynriel is next- she definitely would have known elucien would be acotar 6 YET only 2/3 spinoffs were planned. Then - you may ask who or what the last book could be about? Prequel. Especially with the way HOFAS went, Sjm seems ready to dive into the lore of and history of pre-acotar.
So if Gwynriel was endgame, Gwyn being so important to the plot as Gwynriels claim: She would have been introduced in acowar or even acofas. The books that set up the spinoffs, is she brought in within those books? No. Even by going off on what Sjm has confirmed about the spinoffs, it already logically disproves both elucien and gwynriel.
onto the articles:

E! and Time are good sources that are held highly and people believe. They have an honest reputation for being informed and real as far as news articles can go. Both these articles talk about which couple? Elriel. Hereâs the thing: For Gwynriel to work, it has to be next as (Azriels bonus = his pov next) so shouldnât these articles be talking about him? Yet its Az AND Elain. No Gwyn. They donât even focus on elucien.
To have these major sources talk about elrielâŚwhen the next book is going to be gwynriel is just complicating and confusing for casual readers which are majority of the fandom. Mass nor BB would want that, would they? And this bothers antis as some even lied that these articles mentioned their ships as well (conveniently no proof was given to go w the claim)
Nail on the coffin is the fact Feysands bonus will be reprinted and included in the new editions, the bonus that talks and has a slight focus on Elain. If one was to *only* have read Feysands bonus, be honest. Would you have come to the conclusion that Gwynrielâs book is next?
No and that itself puts an end to Gwynriel. The ship has slowly been sinking this year and this was the final proof- it was never happening. And if you donât have Gwynriel -> no way for Elucien to happen.
And youâre right, aside from casual readers not clicking onto Gwynriel being next - for ACOTAR specifically, Mass has set up each couple before their book in the same way. They each have had some foundation, attraction, romance, actual tangible connections to the plot BEFORE their books. A gwynriel book will be a messy, retconneed book which is a lot of effort to create AND make sense with the previous series and I just donât see Mass doing that. If Gwynriel was to happen, there would have been no need for elriel. These books focus on ONE couple. Elucien had angst without elriel. Gwynriel could have been set up to have angst without elriel, so why even create elriel in the first place? As a âred herringâ ? But then why would any author go through so much trouble in positivity developing elriel and their plot for 3 consecutive books if they werenât happening?
When you try to follow Gwynriel/Elucien logic there is a lot of confusion.
I feel like I got off track somewhere - my bad. Point is - by marketing alone and adding all that has happened in regards to the ships it had always pointed towards elriel. Elains book, Az as her Li. At MOST - thereâs a speculation on a love triangle between Az, Elain and Lucien - even then who is the focus? Elain. Not Gwynriel.
I think 2024 was the year of elrielsâ soft launch. BB and Mass prepping the fandom for an announcement and 2025 will be elriels year. Where everything will come together in a nice neat little bow. đ

Moth To A Flame

Based on this ask

Winter Solstice was a magical time of year, one that had become even more meaningful with the additions of your ever-expanding family.
Before Feyre, it had just been you decorating the house and instructing Cassian to help you, scolding him when he would inevitably pop open a bottle of wine and find a nice couch to perch on whilst he barked unhelpful comments in your direction. The only good thing about Cassian's laziness was that Azriel would always show up to help you, whether that be resting his hands on your hips to keep you steady as you strung up the garlands, or getting on a ladder himself to reach the higher points that were beyond your reach, he was always there to assist.
Since Feyre, you were gifted with a band of women who wanted to help, Feyre reached the highest corners of the room, Elain made fresh garland rings from whatever she could find in the gardens of Velaris, and Nesta was meticulous in the placement of all of the decorations. Wine flowed and music played, and your heart had never felt so full and content.
That solstice had marked Nyx's fourth year within your special little family, and each year, the gifts had become more extravagant for the little one.
You had opted to stay in that morning and skip the annual snowball fight, choosing to watch it from the window with Elain as you both spent the morning preparing the meal you were going to feed to three huge Illyrian bats a few hours from then. Lucien had also opted to stay behind, his reason being to make sure that your wine glasses stayed full which earnt him a teasing glare from Azriel before his eyes flickered to you in silent conversation.
Snow floated down softly from the skies and you watched with a quiet giggle as you noticed Nyx reaching his little limbs upward to the sky in Feyre's arms, grasping at the flakes that were just in reach for him to capture. Then your watchful eye moved to Azriel, the male you were so irrevocably in love with who had no idea of your affections.
It was odd, for Azriel, a male who dreamed of a mate so badly, of real true love, to not see what had always been right in front of him. Though you had to give it to him, you weren't exactly forthcoming with your feelings in fear of being rejected.
Presents had been neatly arranged in piles, thanks to Lucien, and you had made sure to make everyone aware that each person had a certain coloured wrapping paper, you had told them it would make life easier since the family was too big now to spend time reading labels. Rhys had rolled his eyes at you, but pecked your cheek with a smirk at your usual perfectionist antics before agreeing and stalking off to make sure it was imperative to your plans that they do as told.
Life hadn't always been so perfect.
You had come from nothing, no family or title were bestowed to you, and you had unfortunately found yourself being sold to the Illyrian camps to entertain the males there before Rhys and his brothers had found you and taken you in. There was something about you that captivated them, and the more time they spent with you, getting to know you, the more they fell in love with everything that you were. Kind. Selfless. Loyal. Fierce. Their family wouldn't feel nearly as complete without you in it.
Azriel had smirked when they had re-entered the house, basking in the glow of another victory whilst you barked the exact place where they all needed to sit in front of their towering piles of presents. You had gone overboard again, you always did every year, showering them all in gifts which you never expected to be returned. That was the gift of you, all you wanted was for everyone else to be happy.
The house smelt divine. Baked chestnuts and cranberries, pine and candied oranges, and whatever honey you had put on the meat. All of their mouths were salivating at the thought of sitting down at that table and turning into feral beasts at the platter you had spent weeks planning and preparing.
A seamlessly planned gap had been created, a perfect moment for you all to sit down together and open your gifts before you bolted back into the kitchen and ordered Rhys to keep your wine topped up. It was the least he could do after all.
Your pile was nestled between Azriel and Mor's separate towers, the space on the deep seated sofa between them left free for you also. Azriel's eyes roamed your figure as you dipped into the kitchen and returned with a fresh glass of red wine, your bare feet padded along the floor and the short silver chrome dress that you had chosen to wear swayed with each step, grazing against your naked thighs.
Azriel thought that you were absolute perfection, to pure for their world, too pure for him to foolishly believe that he stood a chance with you.
Your scent drifted past him as you shimmied through the gap between his knees and the table, molten caramel apples and basil, a smell he could scent from any place he stood, no matter how far or near he was from you.
All of the piles were as you had ordered, in specific coloured papers, and the beaming smile on your face made all of the hassle of running about town worth it.
Everyone began opening their gifts in turn. Mor had flung her arms around you when she had opened a glittering red floor length dress that you had custom made for her. Feyre was beyond happy at the paintbrushes that you had inscribed her name into, Nesta was thrilled with her books, and Elain's bright eyes sifted through the cookbooks and ornate garden tools you had imported from Dawn. Another jewel for the firedrake and she was content, Cassian was audibly grateful for the armour you had gotten him which held a bit for flare than his current leathers, with golden sockets for his siphons which melted into the taut black leather of the skin.
Azriel shouldn't have been surprised when you went as far as to import delicacies from the Spring Court for Lucien, an assortment of baked goods and herbs that almost brought a tear to his eye. You knew how much Lucien missed being able to have a home, and you knew that Spring was the closest thing to a home he had ever had bar Elain.
Rhys howled in laughter when he unwrapped his matte black lint roller with a violet handle, promising to use it often before opening his real gift, a piece of art you had commissioned of himself, Feyre and Nyx at Starfall a year prior, covered in stardust and smiling brightly. Thoughtful as always.
Then you turned to Azriel, noticing he had opened most of his gifts apart from the ones that were clearly from you by the state of the perfectly wrapped edges and cobalt blue ribbons. He felt your eyes on him, pools of adoration he always found himself searching for, and he met your gaze as you handed him a small square box that rested in his palm.
Unwrapping it, navy velvet welcomed his eye and he looked at you with a small frown, listening to your silent urge to open it to find a thin onyx leather bracelet with a hot white glass pendent at its centre. The light swirled and danced like it was alive, growing more active as he inspected it. "What is it?"
Smiling, you took the bracelet from the box and secured it around his wrist, your touch alone sending electricity coursing through his veins, "I've been experimenting with my power," you told him softly as the room continued unphased in its own conversation like neither of you existed, "It's a piece of my soul," your fingers rested on his wrist and he felt his heart thump in his chest, "It's just so you know that you know I'm with you to light the way whenever you need it."
Azriel exhaled with disbelief, feeling unworthy of such a gift. A piece of your soul. So that you would always be with him.
"Y/N," he breathed, "This is- Thank you," he would give anything to be able to lean forward and capture your lips in his, but instead he restrained himself and reached for your own gift from him in your pile, wrapped in shiny silver paper with intricate embellishments of flower petals.
You hadn't opened a single gift yet, too entranced in everyone else to take a moment for yourself, but you obliged the man you adored so much and ripped open the paper that encased a long box.
Opening it, your eyes widened as you took in the blade in your fingers, an exact match to Truthteller but with a hilt of diamonds and beautifully forged embellishments, "I realised that you didn't have your own, I hope you never have to use it but just thought you'd like one," your stunned silence made him fidget with his fingers and he watched you carefully pick the blade up and turn it in your hands, "Do you like it?"
"I love it," it was beautifully lethal, just like you, "Thank you, Az. Really."
The afternoon continued and you couldn't stop glancing to the open lidded box on the table as you sat nestled under Azriel's wing, sipping from your wine as he opened his last gift, from Nesta, who was busy placing the new hairpins you had gotten her into her staple coronet. Azriel tore open the paper and tilted his head, looking up at the eldest Archeron sister who raised a brow and smirked, "It's a diary, Az. People use them to write down their thoughts and feelings, some people draw in them," you snorted at the condescension in her tone to which Azriel nudged your knee playfully before thanking her and thus wrapping up the present exchange.
It had shaped up to be the most perfect solstice any of you had ever seen.

In the weeks that followed solstice, the snow melted away to give new life to the earth below, and the sun peeked out from the mountains to cascade Velaris in its heavenly glow.
During those weeks, you noticed a subtle change to Azriel, how he would fly away at dusk with his diary secured to his side, to only return an hour or so later seeming lighter and more determined. The subtle changes and the increases of his affection only made you more intrigued to find out exactly what he was writing in that book.
He had caught you far too many times tiptoeing into his bedroom, curtly telling you with a smirk that the diary was nowhere to be seen before pecking your forehead and sending you on your way.
Azriel had been much more attentive since solstice, he rarely took off the bracelet that you gave him, and you liked to think that the glow of your soul coaxed him into sleep, a thing you knew he struggled with often. Even Rhys had told you that Azriel had left his door open one night, only slightly ajar, but enough to Rhys to see him reaching to the ceiling and looking longingly at the pendent which contained your essence atop his pulse.
It was frustrating for your family to see it, to see your mutual pining but watch the other be clueless to it. Azriel had brought you flowers, brought back trinkets from his travels, he would brush up behind you and allow his shadows to feather across your lower back, he'd even cooked for you, something no one had ever seen before. Then there was you, giving a literal piece of your soul to the male, and even that wasn't enough for Azriel to see how in love with him you were.
"I'm calling it," Cassian panted as he rested on the stone pillar of the training ring beside Nesta, watching Azriel jog to catch up with your retreating form and his shadows drawling over your shoulder, "They're mates. They have to be."
"You're too late to that bet," Nesta quipped, wrapping her mate's hands up tighter in the leather straps, "We've all put money in, we bet on how long it would take for them to realise and for the bond to snap."
"And you didn't tell me?!"
Nesta scowled playfully, "You'd cheat," she prodded his armoured chest with her finger, "It has to be natural. They deserve that much."
Weeks ticked by and the group were getting restless, even Nesta, who was stubborn to let the pining play out, was getting annoyed.
Nesta knew exactly what Azriel wrote about in his diary each day, he wrote of you, she had caught a glimpse of a passage when he had stupidly left his diary in the library one night and he had sworn her to secrecy since then, but also sought her out to speak about you, about what he should do.
And Nesta no longer saw a problem in nudging him in the right direction.
"Is she still sniffing around your diary?" Nesta had asked, they were splayed across the seating area in the River House whilst you and Mor had disappeared to Rita's for the evening.
Your essence glowed on his wrist, he heard the whispers of your voice emit from it and sighed with a faint smile on his lips, "Everyday," he told her, looking upward at the ceiling and wondering what you were doing in that moment, "She's too good for me, Nes."
Humming in disagreement, Nesta sat up and craned her neck to look at her friend who was clearly thinking of the woman dancing the night away in the centre of Velaris, "Azriel," she deadpanned, "Y/N gave you a piece of her soul so that she would always be with you. Show her what you wrote. I assure you it can only go in the way you want it to."
Hint? No. Spelling it out for the dumb Illyrian? Yes.
Realisation hit him and he bolted upright, he gathered his diary in his fingers and raced upstairs, stumbling past a confused Cassian who stared after his brother before turning to his mate, mouth full of one of the cupcakes you and Elain had baked that morning with wide eyes and a accusatory tone muffling his words, "You cheated!" Crumbs flew from his mouth and Nesta flipped him off.
"You know the money is ours right?"
Cassian flopped down beside her with a grin, "I knew there was a reason why I loved you."

Painful throbs growled at the balls of your feet as you walked up the path to the house with your heels stabbing at your thigh. Intoxication hadn't found you but you still had an amazing time dancing the hours away with Mor and Feyre, giggling and talking about men until you were all talked and danced out.
Golden firelight greeted you, and your dreary eyes scanned the room to find Azriel sat before the fire but turned toward the door where you stood in a floor length black dress, with two long slits that kissed your mid thigh and a plunging neckline held up by two thin ropes.
Azriel's hair was tousled, his hazel eyes were warm pools that beckoned you to dive in, his skin was golden and glowing in the light, and he sat there with a look of wonderment that you had never seen before.
"Az? Are you alright?" You closed the door behind you and made you way over to him, noticing his neck crane to keep his focus on your face as you approached him.
Azriel had pulled the table toward him and a familiar black leather bound book lay open on the table in front of him, "Come here," his voice was low but soft, pleading but not commanding, he patted the space beside him and you sank down into it, "I wanted to show you something. I know I've been hiding this from you, but I want you to see it now."
The book was soon in your hands, and closed, the thing you had been after for so long, "Are you sure?" The idea of his diary in your hands felt wrong, like a delicious invasion of privacy.
"More sure than I've ever been," he nodded downward, giving you the permission you needed to open it.
The pages were filled with words and charcoal sketched, and you took a moment to flick through the filling book before you focused on certain pages.
Bright eyes, unbound hair, and a toothy smile greeted you over a two page spread, your eyes followed the curves of black, and you gasped when you noticed what, or who, you were looking at. It was you. Azriel had drawn you on the pages of the diary Nesta had gifted him. In the time he had disappeared at dusk to be alone with his thoughts, he had chosen to let them wander to you.
You looked to him and noted how he had shuffled closer to you, the warmth of wing draping over your smaller form and his shadows dancing across your shoulders.
"I think in a way this diary is for you," he urged you to carry on, watching carefully as you flipped through to the beginning and scanning the words he had littered on the pages.
To anyone else, they were just a bunch of randomly littered words across the page, a waterfall of sayings and phrases that had come from your lips. Words and phrases that you said often enough for Azriel to take the time to write them down.
On the next page was two lists, one of the things you loved and another of the things you hated with small scribbled beside certain ones depicting when exactly Azriel had noticed.
Flicking through, it dawned on you that the entire diary was full of you, your jokes and mannerisms, the things that made you laugh, passages of your favourite poetry, drawings of you.
"Az, I-"
"Keep going."
So you did, you kept flipping the pages, allowing your fingers to graze against his written word as you read through his thoughts until you reached one page in particular.
Y/N,
I may never have the courage to tell you how I feel, and maybe writing it down will give me the courage to let you finally see what I have been hiding.
I tried to remember the day when everything in my life began to make sense. I went so long feeling lost and alone, of feeling destined to a life of solitude, and then you happened. You brought a joy to my life, to all of our lives, that we didn't know we were missing. I don't think you realise just how amazing you are.
I am in love with you, Y/N.
When you're around I know everything is going to be alright, and when I'm away, all I think about is you. I look at that damn bracelet all of the time, hoping that it was just some thoughtful gift, but a sign of something more. You are fluent in me, you speak my language in ways that even I cannot, and I can't walk this earth without you by my side. I refuse.
I may not tell you everyday that you mean the world to me but you do. The day you entered my life, even when you were petrified, you changed my life into something so beautiful and meaningful, you make me feel seen. I may not be the first man in your life but I intend to be the last, I intend to be the only one who can make you feel loved to your core.
There is nothing I wouldn't do for you. I will love you in your weakest moments and brightest of days, I will love you when you don't love yourself, I will love you even when you don't want me to, I will love you until the earth swallows me and even then I will follow you to the next life. There is nothing on this earth that can take me from you, not even death can force us apart.
Between universes, oceans and moons, I am so lucky that I got to step onto the same land and dream under the same stars as you; and I'd choose you in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of any reality, I would find you and I would choose you.
I love you, Y/N. I'll write it and say it as many times as you need me to, whether that be verbal or not, in whatever way you need me to say it, I will.
You have me, until the last star in the galaxy perishes, you have me.
You didn't realise that you were crying until you saw your tears splatter onto the page. In an instant, Azriel was cupping your face in the hands that only you found comfort in, brushing his thumbs against your cheeks as he felt your longing and love flow through him.
Felt your longing and love flow through him.
Azriel tensed, his eyes went wild and wide as he searched your soul for a sign for anything to confirm what he had just felt pang in his chest. The pressure was building and his actions confused you, he was panting, his chest rising and falling in uneven rhythm.
You reached for him, resting your fingers over his heart and feeling the world flip on its axis at the singular contact, energy exploded around your forms, white oceanic waves rippling with intertwining shadow, shrouded in a golden shimmer.
The sight was beautiful, so beautiful that it stole your attention and you watched as your essences danced with one another, and his shadows rallied to join in the celebration. Azriel's breath was warm against your cheek and you tore your gaze away from the display above your heads to meet his tearful eyes.
"We're mates," his voice was soft, so gentle, and he ran his fingers down the side of your face, sighing with a smile when you nodded.
"Nesta is going to be thrilled that she won the bet."
Azriel threw his head back and laughed, tears of pure happiness spilling from the corners of his eyes as he fell back to your level, "Bet?"
"They all betted on how long it would take us to realise that we love each other. They thought I didn't know."
"Beautiful smart creature," Azriel purred to you and you felt a blush creep to your cheeks, a blush that was soothed by his shadows curling over it, he slowly closed the gap between you, his lips hovering just before your own. "How rude of us to keep them waiting."
Azriel noticed your line of sight flicker between his eyes and downward at his lips, "Extremely," you breathed and Azriel wasted no time in pulling your face toward him and connecting your lips in something that could only be described as universe shifting, like the entire galaxy was holding a collective breath and watching you fall into one another.
There was a hunger behind it as his tongue danced with your own, you felt those golden threads snap into place, you heard the string connecting your souls hum in appreciation and yearning for what was no doubt going to occur behind closed doors.
Just as Azriel was about to scoop you into his arms and take you somewhere more private, a shuffle of feet and a groan sounded by the stairs.
Pulling apart, you saw Cassian stood there with giddy eyes, "GUYS! NESTA WON!"
The house and its inhabitants collectively snarled, "FUCK!" Rhys cursed from somewhere upstairs followed by Nesta's victorious chuckle whilst Cassian wiggled his eyebrows at you both, you buried your head into Azriel's chest to contain your red cheeks.
Azriel shrouded you with his wings, forcing you to look up at him, "Let's get out of here? I'd like a night alone with my mate."
"Say it again."
"Mate," he kissed you, "My perfect, incredible mate," he mumbled onto your lips with a smirk, cradling you to his chest and growling at Cassian for whatever crude remark he had made before soaring into the sky with you pressed to his chest with plans to make you his over and over again.
