This song came to me first, and then I thought about the couple that would match best with it. When I think of a love song, this is one of the songs I think of immediately. I think that Rowan and Judi would obviously both know this song (cause they love R&B music) and would honestly probably dedicate it to each other. It would be like they were saying ilu without actually saying it (cause they would never say it aloud).

Can anyone recommend me books similar to Six Crimson Cranes, A magic steeped in Poison, Daughter of the Moon Goddess, etc, but with some spice? I loved these books but I would prefer something with a more mature take on romance scenes. Note: I have already read The God and the Gumiho, Iron Widow (not much spice) and Eona, I have also already read MXTX's books, (I'm not looking for danmei)

Who is Jo?

It's only the fifth episode of The Trainee but I feel confident about who is the Blue Boy since I learned more about him this episode.

Ryan is a chill Green Guy who helps everyone including Pie in the very beginning of the episode by changing the copy paper and helping her. This hasn't changed.

Pie is still being her red passionate self now that she is assistant director for the music video.

Pah is still the yellow and orange odd one out.

Judy is still a sophisticated Black Brooder, and Mee is an evolving Pink Person.

(who gives her crushes pink donuts, so can Judy get one already?)

But the focus of this episode and post is about Jane!

We got to know more about him, and my original theory about him seems to be correct because I believed Jane was the Blue Boy since he seems cold and distant but everyone overlooks how dependable and loyal he is.

And once Ryan steps into Jane's apartment, it becomes even more clear that nobody really knows (Blue Boy) Jane.

(Sidenote, to be honest, I'd be Purple Person Ja, and not just because of the hair. I have beef with authority figures for no good ass reason. I need no reasons to dislike management, supervisors, admin, or anyone with power, so I ain't mad at her for talking shit about Jane every chance she gets)

Not only are Jane's curtains that shut out the rest of the world in the apartment that he intentionally selected since it's so close to his job blue.

But Ryan learns that Jane doesn't eat spicy food after Jane makes Ryan dinner in his blue pot.

And much like Pie's red bag, Mee's pink purse, and Ryan's green tote, Jane's bag has blue on it.

But what makes me really believe Jane is a Blue Boy is his behavior.

It seems like Jane has a box of shooting schedules (or storyboards) right at his front door that Ryan has to push a bit to get through, which much like the location of his apartment reinforces that his job is his life. (unless those are bills, then those bills look odd, and boy is about to be evicted)

Jane's movies are in alphabetical order (however, he alphabetizes "The" which should not be done because article adjectives a, an, and the should be omitted in alphabetizing, but . . . it's his personal collection, so do you, boo boo)

His album collection seems to be displayed by color connection (black, white, red) since I spotted Kodaline's 2022 album Our Roots Run Deep, Coldplay's 2002 album A Rush of Blood to the Head, and the 1980s Japanese rock band, Southern All Stars' Tiny Bubbles.

And the real kicker is Jane's favorite movie seems to be Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy, which is a Thai film about a creative girl who has to go up against her power-driven headmaster to get the yearbook produced as she encounters all the chaos that comes along with being a teenager.

And even his coworker (boss?) stated that Jane has the director's eye but he had a bad experience as an intern. Jane is talented yet guarded, which is very Blue Boy of him! Also, this book is free in the Archive and amazing!

So even though Tae has a blue phone and his blue headphones with a blue emoji heart to match Mee's pink heart as a he thinks of her with a pink background,

My money is on Jane being the Blue Boy since taking care of a Green Guy comes natural to him.

But the real point of this post is to ask "Who is Jo?" Is he the boss? A helpful office worker? Both? Because he is the only one who interacts with all the staff and actually notices all of them. He knew Pah was Pah when he was pretending to be Tae. He realizes Judy is amazing. He knows where the number for the copier tech is. He takes care of the fish.

Is he the original Ryan?!

Judy Alvarez, Jealousy

"for a considerably less depressing one shot, a spicy chapter where Judy is pissed/jealous when a client hires V just to seduce her."

"So, what's this job you wouldn't tell me about over the phone?" Judy crossed her arms, leaning against the window in her apartment like she always did. She was visibly a little upset, not even turning from the window to look at you as you came inside and sat down on her couch. You never hid any jobs from her for any reason. You practically told her everything. Partly not to worry her, and partly so she could help where she could, when her skills were needed.

"Okay, so.. I just wanted to tell you in person because I know you're going to be a little upset about this." Judy turned her head toward you, scowling. The evening sunlight shining through the window lit up her colored hair to an even more intense shade.

"Just tell me, babe." You could tell she was trying to not show how she felt. She always tried to hide it when she was jealous, but she did a poor job of it.

"A client hired me to seduce her." Judy's jaw fell open. The sun then fell on her tanned skin as she walked toward you. It was always hard to take your mind off of how beautiful she was.

"You cannot be serious!" She shook her head, putting her hands on her hips and looking to the floor.

"Listen, it's not what you think-" Judy huffed at you, shaking her head even more. She started to crinkle up her nose, like she always did when she was mad. She was too cute.

"How the hell is it not what I think?!" She walked to the table in front of her couch, picking up her coffee and taking a drink.

"You think I'd take a job that required me to have sex with someone?" Judy stopped her pacing and sighed. "You know better than that, Judy." Judy took a few deep breaths before coming to sit beside of you. She finished off her coffee and sat the empty cup down on the table.

"Okay so, then.. why? What's the reason?" The concern in her eyes was now clearly visible.

"The client wants to end her marriage. Seemingly having an affair. Giving him a big last middle finger." Leaning to her, you pressed your lips lightly to hers. She tasted like coffee. Pulling away, you rubbed her cheek with your thumb. Your touch calmed her.

"She could've hired a doll to do that. Easily. A lot of them do those types of jobs." She took your hand from her cheek and intertwined her fingers in yours.

"It's.. more complicated than that. She said her husband is also trigger happy. A little crazy. She wants me to play the part of her lover, shoot the husband dead. Run off before the police show up. She still gets all of his shit, no messy divorce." You remembered your earlier conversation with the client. "Judy, she seems terrified of him."

"How do you know she won't try to get you in trouble too?" She thought for a little while. "She could just be faking all of this to turn you in and get a reward."

"Job was set up by a fixer. They trust her. Plus, like I said.. poor woman is so scared of him. You know I can read people well, and there's no way she is faking this. She said she didn't think there was any other way out. Said she was sure he would kill her if she tried to leave." Judy nodded her head, looking to the floor. "She's trapped between a rock and a hard place."

"I know better than anyone else how fucking useless calling the cops is for any reason." Your mind went back to Evelyn for a moment, remembering how unhelpful and uncaring they were when Judy called after she found her.. well.. "Calling them is pointless." She spoke with complete and utter disgust.

"Yeah.." You cleared your throat, "So, I'm telling you in person so you can come with me and help me monitor the situation. Tell me when the husband comes home. Tell me where he is in the house so I can be prepared." Placing your hand on her thigh, you gave her a gentle rub. "And, so you don't worry. For any reason." She smiled.

"I.. I know you'd never.. I know better than that." She kissed you. A hint of a little passion behind it. "I know. I just get jealous when it comes to you."

"That's why I'm telling you. Also, it's so fucking adorable how you do." Judy rolled her eyes at you. She held your face in her hands, kissing you and letting her tongue tangle and dance with yours.

"Yeah, whatever.. Let's go so we can get this over with." She stood up, holding her hand out to you and helping you up from the couch. She pulled you into her, holding your body close to hers. "When we get back though, I want to remind you that I'm yours, and you're mine. No matter what." She winked while looking into your eyes before strutting confidently to the front door. "C'mon."

Lost Together I

Sequel to Forbidden Lessons

Note: I never really intended for Thor to get his own little thing but here we are.

You watch Loki drive off from the open door. The urge to run after him makes you sway but you resist. There's nothing else he can or will do for you. As ever, his kindness has a firm limit. Not truly generous, more obligatory.

That man, his brother, who bears no resemblance to him, shuffles around the foot of the stairs. You push the door shut and face him. He works incessantly at the table along the side of the staircase, brushing it with a long handle duster. He recoils suddenly and buries his nose in the crook of his elbow, expelling a thunderous sneeze.

"Uh," you feel a tingle yourself, "let me get the windows."

You scurry over the window to the left of the front door and pull back the heave drapes one at a time. The stirring of fabric releases another cloud of neglect. You stand on your toes to untwist the clasp and push the hinged panes outward.

You're out of breath as you cross to the other, doing the same and letting in the afternoon sunlight. Thor continues his diligent dusting, turning over a vase to dump out the build up within.

"Uh, I never knew Loki had a brother," you begin awkwardly.

"And I didn't know he had… you," he grins, the words amicable despite their intonation.

"Well, really, he doesn't… he's more stuck with me, I think."

"Ah, of course, why else would he leave you here," he turns to fix a frame on the wall, "apologies for the state… things have… gotten ahead of me."

"It's fine," you shrug.

"Would you like to put some music on?" He waves to you with the duster and points through the archway to your right, "my father left me his collection."

He directs you ahead of him with the sweep of his arm. You hesitate but go into the dark expanse of the new room. You hear a click and crackle and dozen bulbs light up overhead. A mosaic shade houses the glow and warms the space.

"There," Thor stands beside you, pointing to the corner before stepping ahead of you.

He goes to what looks to be a chest of drawers. There is a door to one side but no others. He nears and clutches the top, popping up the thin wooden lid to reveal a record player set into the peice of furniture.

You approach as he nods, "records are inside," he says.

You run your hand along the wooden door, the front woven with thin slats. You hook your finger into the handle and ease it open with a squeak. You bend to look at the collection within.

"Choose," he orders, "I'm not very picky."

You nod and thumb through the album covers, settling on Judy Garland at the at Carnegie Hall. You take it out and wipe off the front, holding back a sneeze. Thor offers to take it and you hand it over as he reads the title.

"Ah, one of my mother's," he beams as he slides out the record, "you have old-fashioned taste."

"I… guess," you clap your hands off as he puts the needle on a flips the switch.

"Please," he hovers his hand above your shoulder and stretches his arm towards the long couch, "you needn't help. You should keep off your feet."

He cross the room and shakes out the throw, thumping on the cushions to knock out the dusty residue. He hums and clucks.

"It'll do for now," he turns to you, "please, I will fetch some of… some old books."

"I don't mind. I'm not very far along, you know?"

"My mother would faint to think I let an expecting woman lift a finger," he shakes his head, "do you like tea? Oh, what kind of tea can you have…" he puts a finger to his chin, his matted beard straggling down to his chest.

"Let me make the tea," you offer.

"Little mouse," he puts his hands up, "you must relax," he pats the arm of the couch, "I promised Loki I would look after you."

"But…" you swallow your argument. It is his house. He might be embarrassed to share the mess with you. Better he cleans it himself, besides you're very tired. "Alright," you relent and come forward, "thank you, Thor."

He smiles and doesn't move until your sat in the corner of the couch. He retreats, almost reluctantly, and you languish in the rich crooning of Judy and the buzzing awe of her audience. You lean your head in your hand, you elbow over the rest. You can't help but think how sad this place has been after seeing its occupant.

He mentioned a woman, Jane. Perhaps his wife, and his parents. All gone. You suppose he needs some hope. His excitement nips at your dread. How can your life sentence be his chance to start again?

You hear distant clank and sit up straight. You shimmy to the front of the cushion but keep from standing. He can manage himself, you just have that inherent need to help.

Your eyes rove the darkened edge of the room. A spacious den with bookshelves along one wall, two armchairs to match the sofa, a long coffee table on an intricately patterned rugs, a console table behind the sofa and a bench before the unlit fireplace.

"I found some herbal tea," Thor announces as he startles you, "hope you don't mind blueberry."

"That's good," you accept as he comes around with a dainty tea cup on a saucer. It looks ridiculous in his hands.

"Right, yes, books," he puts it on the square table by your elbow, "you like reading?" He goes to the bookshelves, "I suppose you have the pick of the lot. I'm not very attached to any of them."

"Thanks," you say again, "really, it's so nice of you–"

"I will have a room ready for your tonight," he declares as he spins on his heel, "yes, you need somewhere to sleep."

You give a smile, the only response you can muster before he's lumbering out, rambling about clean sheets and extra pillows. Well, he is very much unlike his brother.

relationship status: married for nearly three years now. mr sportsthoughts says he feels like it's gone very quickly but I disagree and feel like spontaneously getting married mid pandemic (one of my more reckless decisions) feels like a lifetime ago. best decision I ever made though. when in doubt, just marry your best buddy!

current obsession(s): I got really into fantasy hockey this year and am going to miss it when the season ends. my league (which consisted of me and 11 middle aged canadian men as they were the only people with a space left on fantrax) ended up being extremely competitive and very very fun. Can feel myself getting obsessed with the gym again which normally happens around this time each year when it's light enough that I actually want to leave my house in the mornings. Also really obsessed with my hilariously long and complicated skincare routine atm - I didn't really think it was doing much but I got carded to buy a packet of paracetamol (16 age limit in the UK) last week so I might be onto a winner.
