Recently I've been thinking about the weight gain episodes of old kids' shows. While I know they are treated as an eye-opener by many into adipophilia (including me), they also reek of fatphobia and most of them are pretty weird in their messaging if you start to think about it. They try to teach the children watching about the dangers of unhealthy eating / being fat, but the baseline for these episodes is already not great:

What counts as healthy or unhealthy eating is never clearly defined. Usually eating big portions of fastfood is the "unhealthy" option portrayed, while the "healthy" option is eating raw vegetables and fruits, even if you dislike the taste. The only example I can think of where they even try to properly explain what they mean by "healthy" is the Kim Possible episode (specific title is in the lower part of this post).

Unhealthy is always equated with fatness. One or several of the main characters starts out "thin and healthy", then eats a ton of fastfood, gains weight and "inevitably" the weight then makes them unhealthy. It's never a lack of certain nutrients (because of the one-sided food choices) or anything like that (despite the fact that e.g. in the Kim Possible episode getting a balance of nutrients is presented as the magical solution).

Once the characters "learn their lesson" and start eating "healthy", they instantly lose the weight again. Once again, this perpetuates the myth of "healthy = thin, unhealthy = fat".

Sports are rarely part of the "health lesson" these episodes try to teach. BUT it is brought up for fatphobic reasons. See, because once the characters become fat, they're automatically now bad at sports, even if it's something they've been practising for ages before that. For example: Lilo (Lilo & Stitch) becomes too clumsy for hula class, Ron (Kim Possible) becomes too easily winded for football, Jake (American Dragon) becomes too slow to fight and too heavy to fly properly. It sends the message that fat people can't and shouldn't do sports.

All of that is of course already bad enough. But something else I noticed is that they use the weirdest arguments for their fatphobia, as in the episode's ultimate reason that eating "unhealthy" is bad, the Big Bad Thing that will happen to you if you do. Let me give you some examples:

In the Lilo & Stitch episode "Frenchfry" (S2E2) Nani tries to teach Lilo that eating fastfood is bad. The episode tries to make this point not with any of the typical arguments (which would still not be great). No, Lilo and Stitch learn their lesson because eating the fastfood Frenchfry (experiment 062) made them made them so fat that Frenchfry is now trying to grill and eat them. Call me crazy but irl it's unlikely to get eaten by an alien for being fat, so I'm not sure why that's the takeaway here.

In Kim Possible episode "Grand Size Me" (S4E7) Ron goes on a Bueno Nacho only diet to prove Mr Barkins wrong when he claims that fastfood is unhealthy. How is Ron taught his lesson? During a mission with Kim he falls into a pool of chemicals that he absorbs through his skin. These chemicals only do something in reaction to a fatty diet, so of course Ron is affected. What do they do? They turn him into a giant cheese monster and he can only be turned back by being forced to eat "healthy" food. Again, I don't think turning into a giant cheese monster is a usual side effect of any diet, so wtf is this.

In Totally Spies' "Passion Patties" (S1E21) Clover gains weight from eating cookies that have been spiked with a weight gain additive and something that makes the cookies addictive to eat. The only reason the spies win at the end is that thanks to Clover's newly gained weight she's big enough to take on the villain's hench-women (who are also all fat). To remind the viewer that despite of this fat is not supposed to be seen as good, the villain is forced to drink the weight gain substance pure (as her punishment) and Clover gets "healed" by a chemical that nullifies the weight gain effect of the cookies. Honestly not sure what viewers are supposed to take away here - don't eat cookies spiked with drugs?

In American Dragon's "Furious Jealousy" (S2E29) Jake gains weight because he's eating fastfood from a new place. When he's attacked by gorgons the new weight makes him too slow to fight and they turn him to stone. Eventually he's saved and then promises to eat healthy and exercise. This example is probably the closest to having a not completely absurd consequence for getting fat, though "you won't be able to fight mythological monsters" is still not the most logical reasoning.

Fairly Odd Parents has "Just Desserts" (S5E4) where Timmy wishes that every meal was dessert and as a consequence the entire city gets fat and somehow that adds so much weight to earth that it crashes into the sun. Surely I will not have to explain that this is not a scientific possibility. Also, to add some drama, Wanda is unable to lift her arm (and therefore unable to use her wand) without eating a can of spinach first. Which is also not something one realistically needs to worry about.

Obviously, you could see these plotpoints as metaphorically - which makes the message even more fatphobic:

Lilo & Stitch: If you're fat / only eat fastfood you're no better than a pig being raised for slaughter.

Kim Possible: If you become fat, you're basically a big stupid monster driven only by an unsatiable hunger.

Totally Spies: Getting fat is an unfortunate tragedy that happens to people on accident (on their part) / because of overprocessed food (malicious intend on the producers' part). Being fat is a punishment / like being trapped in a prison.

American Dragon: Fat people are slow and useless.

Fairly Odd Parents: Fat people are too weak for even the most basic task and a danger to all of society.

Those were all the examples I could think of, anyone feel free to add episodes of shows that I missed

“Come on, Damian!” Jon whined, “can i continue petting him? It won’t hurt to do so.”

“*Tt* No.”

“Fine. I’m going to ask my dad for a pet then,” he huffed, leaving Damian to continue with his homework in peace.

“No. Jonathan, pets are hard to take care of.” Clark tells Jon, holding his shoulder trying to let him down gently. “But-but… Damian has so many, and he won’t let me pet any!”

“I see, so this is this about Damian.”

“No! It’s not, i just want a pet… like a normal family…” That broke Clark’s heart, seeing his son so vulnerable and upset. “How about we talk about this in the morning with your mother?”

Both Clark and Jon flew back home, tired from the eventful day they spent together.

Lois walked towards Jon’s room for his daily tuck in and kiss, but froze at the door. “It’s me again,” she could hear Jon talk. Taking a peek inside, she noticed he wasn’t talking to anyone in particular but chose to wait.

“I need someone to be my friend, someone who won’t run away…” he pleaded, “maybe send me an angel, the nicest angel you have.” That melted Lois’s heart, Jon had always been so helpful around the house and world. Entering his room with a knock, she began her daily routine and helped tuck him in.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Gotham. A spaceship fell down and landed in an abandoned building, destroying everything in its vicinity.

Stepping out of the spaceship was a blue creature, laughing maniacally, who travelled around only to stop at an unusual place where things moved.

*BANG*

“Fuck! Did i just hit a dog?” The person immediately called a shelter and brought you in.

“…Are you sure?” Clark questioned Lois, glancing over at her to double check with her before looking back at Jon. She nodded, “he has been very helpful around the farm, a pet wouldn’t hurt.”

“YES!” Jonathan jumped up and down, celebrating. “Oops…” he jumped too high and broke a hole into the ceiling, Lois laughed and told Clark to take him over to the shelter before he breaks more things.

Entering the shelter, Jon ran to the room that held all the animals and left behind his father.“hello?” He called out, confused as to why no animals were jumping up in their cages excited to see a person. “Are there any animals in here?”

You immediately ran towards the sound and sniffed the air, head turning to notice a poster with a person and dog hugging. Looking down at yourself, you hid your other pair of arms, spikes and antennas, and ran out.

Sitting on the floor, Jon turned around hearing a noise. “Hi!” He waved. You stood up on two legs, “h-h… hi!” and ran into his arms. “Wow.”

“Dad! I found one!” He shouted, walking out and interrupting Clark and the employee. “What is that?” Clark questioned, while the employee sprung into action.

She held you back making Clark realise something was wrong. He held Jon back away from you, “A dog! I think, but it was dead this morning.” The employee explained, mortified.

Going for a totally normal walk and not somewhere where he knew he’d run into one of the bats, and he totally didn’t hope that they would tell someone who could mention it to Damian… totally not his plan at all.

Jon bumped into Dick, “Mr Grayson! I got a dog.” He proudly showed you off, picking you up and holding you too closely to his face.

“Aww…” Dick cooed, only to take a good look at you a pause. “You sure it’s a dog?”

You stared dead into his eyes, “woof.”

“Uh huh… He used to be a collie before he got ran over,” Jonathan casually mentioned, placing you down gently. Dick nodded simultaneously, pretending to understand but froze in place once the realisation hits, “wait, what are you doing in Bludhaven…?”

Jon and Dick continued their conversation, completely unaware of the situation at hand. You were running around and terrorising other dogs with Haley following in pursuit, “boo!” You’d shout and race after them on your back legs, trying to make yourself seem bigger.

Haley followed you, occasionally tripping over her own feet making you turn back and pick her up. Now holding her in front of your chest, you both began to scare off people.

After that madness, Jon made you sit and listen to his lecture. Noticing that you weren’t listening, he drew out a picture of you. “This is your badness level,” he stated, colouring you in red. “It’s unusually high for someone your size. we have to fix that.”

Damian was in search for Jonathan, something about needing to save the world but found you instead. He remembered hearing Jon during his study session, mention that you could speak. It was stupid and he’s stupid for trying this method out, “okay, talk.” He demanded.

“I know you had something to do with this. now, where’s Kent? Talk! I know you can.”

You frowned at the idea of being framed, standing on both legs and waving your hands up to show that you’re safe. “Okay. Okay-”

*WACK*

“Ouch! That was rude,” you crawled back up.

The Justice League was having a meeting and Jon brought you along.

He was talking with this other kid and Damian when they got into a small argument. Damian didn’t pick sides… not that he would say out loud, but his money was always on the Kryptonian.

You held Jonathan back, afraid of him doing something stupid. “Badness level! Remember the badness level!” You cried out until…

“You’ll never be like your dad. Never!”

…

“Oh.”

All three of you froze. Damian, you, and Jon. “Oh,” was the only thing that escaped your mouth.

Damian looked over at you and gave off that look. “Okay,” you piped up, letting him go. Without wasting anymore time, he launched himself onto the other kid. “That’s it!”

Damian took his time to take photos instead of helping the removal of the two kids fighting. Those photos were now hung up on the Justice League’s fridge, revealing the start of the fight all the way to when the Justice League came and broke it apart.

“He’s touching me,” you cried out to Jon, pointing over at Kon. “I’m not touching you,” he says, pointing at your direction, showing how he’s not even near you.

“Ah, you’re touching me!” You screeched, moving even closer to him.

“Not touching.”

“Touching me!”

Kon couldn’t deal with this and looked over to Jon for some help, Jonathan on the other hand found this to be hilarious and provided little to no help. “It’s free air!” Kon stated only to get licked by you, “…ew.”

but yk how aladdin was originally set in baghdad but was changed to a fake city (after a spike in anti-iraq sentiments in america) called agrabah, which is loosely based on ✨the orient✨ implying that they were all interchangeable and basically the same thing

and yk how they changed the setting of lilo and stitch from kauai to oahu in the live action, which was likely to promote their resort there, but also implies that they think all of the hawaiian islands are interchangeable and basically the same thing

look i havent seen the live action (and i refuse to) and i’m not hawaiian, but it raises some red flags because they have very much done this before :P someone more educated on this should probably comment on it tho

"grown man who's into a kids franchise that's as old as he is" the post

hello everyone! very new to a franchise that's been around the same year i was born in...

known about lilo and stitch all my life, even have very small memories of watching the series of it on disney channel but i only remember the intro lol. but even so i never really was INTO it, it was just something i knew existed and occasionally glanced at now and then for so long...

got an overnight obsession with the experiments after watching a video that explained all of them. not all 633 of them, just like... a mere 120+ of them. the rest are GONE, WASHED. but oh m GOD you guys, every SECOND i heard about this or that experiment something peaked in me and that obsession became honed in faster than an experiment escaping from gantu's grasp

as you can probably tell from my pfp and above image, spike is without a doubt my favorite experiment... sonic WISHES he could be this based.

hoping this fixation won't fizzle out within a few weeks honestly. there's a lot to consume AND catch up to, and with the lilo and stitch movie coming out next month, i'll have even MORE of a reason for my mind to continue enjoying this franchise!

catching up with the lore, characters, experiments, movies, series, anime, games, etc the best i can and at my own pace

taking notes of everything i can about the experiments, their speeches... i got a lot of great things to work with.

even thinking about making a short video regarding a small "revamp" of jumba's classification system of his experiments! probably the easiest and fastest one i could do, really...

but regardless, as you can see, im uh, very into this series and everything about it. i really want to discuss about it with other people so if anyone's interested, please dm me! artists, fanfic writers, or just people generally into the show; i wanna see all of you guys!

Dj suit off

DJ suit on

G.DJ is the DJ of the front group she loves playing loud music specifically phonck; rock; pop an other types of extreme music.

She's very energetic she can stay up for hours on end just listening to music (music is her coffee)

G.DJ was sometimes talk with people with her eyes and that is when she's annoyed ( and people stands for L.F; toy Bonnie and idiots)

Can you reset in her room drinking any fizzy drink while composing new music.

Sometimes gdj who behave a little bit like Vertica from hell of a boss ( the being when she wants to make fun of people)

G.DJ's suit also acts like armor able to compact bullets and explosions.

Hands.

1. On the power hand when she doesn't have her DJ suit on has a tying speaker where she can blessed loud music to her opponents sometimes getting her palm closer to there ears so they cannot hear anymore. On the back of her hand when she doesn't have her DJ suit on she has a model she can control her music as she likes. Her clothes are already strong sometimes able to use them like that one Lilo & Stitch meme

2. When she has for DJ suit on the speaker on the power hand is replaced with a neon glowing light that she uses as a flashlight most of the time. And she also has spikes on her fingers that help our grip her opponents a lot firmer wall fighting. On the back of her hand she still has the monitor to control her music but now has a lot bigger knuckle spikes and can do a more damage. Her claws are now a lot sharper and she can still do the Lilo and Stitch meme.

Mouth.

There is nothing special about her mouth besides her having a bright pink mouth with poisonous saliva and appearsing in her tongue.

Eyes.

Usually horizon blue and pink but after in a horrific accident before meeting the girls (T.G; SYLVIE; SILK AND W.G/H.G/ PUMPKIN/ PUMPKIN PIE ) her left eye that being the pink eye got ripped out leaving her with just her blue eye.

The bottom eye is when she gets mad her people turns red and actually goes bizarrek.( just making her listen to music that she likes)

Fun fact's ( the first one isn't really a fun fact is more like a normal fact that happened)

1. G.DJ is T.G's ex dating for a couple of years but after both of them realizing that this relationship isn't going the way they both suspected they both deciding to break up and remain close friends. Gdj started dating mangle and T.G is dating T.C ( G.DJ AND T.G don't hug or get closer to each other they just give each other high fives or fist bumps).

2. G.DJ can use her tail to carry things or throw people.

3. She can say like a loaf.

4. The neon yellow and Neon orange areas on her DJ suit or actually lava lamp.

5. Gdg has a pet turtle named squirtle. ( yes she likes Pokemon).

DC Lilo & Stitch au where Bruce is trying to figure out exactly what this dangerous alien creature is and Damian is just absolutely refusing to acknowledge it’s not a dog.

(Secretly he wants to find out more on the species in order to properly care for it but he does not say any of that to Bruce so he doesn’t have to give Stitch up.)

DAMIAN: Hello father.

BRUCE: Hey Damia-

BRUCE:

DAMIAN: This is Stitch. He requires bedding.

BRUCE: What is ‘Stitch’? I can see spikes, he has /six/ legs.

DAMIAN: He is a dog.
