A full page of Springtrap's "Anatomy" doodles for all you springlock enjoyers out there.
Initially I just wanted to draw a ref for myself, so I traced Springtrap's outline off of my laptop screen (twice) and drew over them. This was mostly done to 'get a feel' for the character since I wanted to get better at drawing them. Then I went ham adding details inspired by lore, springlock videos, and fan theories, along with some of my own ideas. I looked up multiple references for the endoskeleton too. Nakey Springtrap is funny.
Eventually I want to draw each layer properly in better detail, with in-depth descriptions, and do a better job of making sense of the springlock mechanism. Consider this a rough draft.
I went through and tidied up each and every letter and did my best to recreate the background from the preview. Also I inverted the colors and went with a blueprint style to mask the creepiness of the original, which can be seen below. vvv

How painful would a Spring lock failure actually be?
Well according to the books it would be a “slow and painful death” however let’s take a more in depth look into it. Firstly how do you trigger the Spring locks? As most of you know water (as seen in the Bite of 83) and sudden movements (Stated by Charlie to Carlton in Silver Eyes) making the Spring Bonnie suit extremely dangerous and fatal by default if your not careful you WILL die.
What happened to William Afton exactly? He basically triggered the Spring locks due to rain leaking from the ceiling in an attempt to hide from the dead souls he had killed and didn’t notice until it was too late. The Spring Bonnie suit was now going into Animatronic mode which is why the Spring locks are going off due to the rain.
Now the big question is how painful is it? Let’s look at the target points of the Spring locks and determine where they are going into the body. According to a picture from the Silver Eyes book we can see David Miller (Book version of William Afton) having scars all over the majority of his body EXCEPT most of his head which is really important as that’s where the brain is. It’s even depicted in the games as on ScrapTrap his head and part of his brain is still visible and relatively undamaged.
Why is that important you may ask? Well when humans sustain injury it sends pain signals to the brain meaning if the users brain is intact they can still register all the pain administered by the Spring locks as they each slowly go of one by one into different parts of the body. If it isn’t already obvious than this would be EXCRUCIATINGLY painful.
Once the Spring locks start to go off the endoskeleton would start going into the users body completely shattering your arms and legs due to the extreme pressure. It would start of from the femur than domino effect to the pelvis and than to the lower abdomen. Now the Spring locks will start piercing through the users liver and stomach and then will move to the upper torso causing a spontaneous pneumothorax (lung collapse) as it starts filling with the users blood. The users scream will be cut of once the Spring locks go of on the neck severing the vocal cords and jugular causing the body to go limp as the user tries to scream however only gurgling sounds are heard as they start suffocating in their own blood. Spring Bonnie will also replace the users eyes with its own rendering them blind as the user eventually dies of blood lose or drowning in their own blood. UNLESS YOUR WILLIAM AFTON BECAUSE THAT MF KEEPS COMING BACK.
Another little fact is that the reason SpringTrap/William is so easy to trick with the sound of children is because of Spring Bonnie’s programming as William isn’t in full control here. Spring Bonnie is programmed to follow the sound of children and since it’s in Animatronic mode it’s forcing William to comply since he’s basically stuck inside it.
So to answer your question YES it would be unimaginably painful to die by Spring lock failure. (Purple Guy definitely deserved it tho)

My springbonnie suit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last year I won my school's costume contest with this one. I can also remove a patch from this suit to reveal springlocks. Sadly the led eyes broke, but the moving jaw still works.

oh my god actually i had the weirdest fucking dream about the springlock suits, well it was onky a small portion of a bigger dream but literally just remembered the design of it was so fascinating..... like it had the typical metal bits youd expect kinda like the movie n fanart but under that it had a layer of like..... leather????? it looked like thick leather but it was supposed to help in case of a springlock malfunction r smth n keep things together inside and like. LOL it was held together/in place with a large velcro strap but one side was broken so you had to hold it for it to do what it was designed to........ which you cant when wearing the full suit obv so its kinda useless 😭 ...
ANYWAYS OMG dude i wore it though .... like i was in the springlock suit(well. The Dream Oc was, im never actually me in my dreams but i digress) and it was kinda scary i could feel the metal bits kinda like shake and rattle a little against my legs n shit and the joints popped out and back into place randomly so like while walking or standing a component would slap the back of your knee, i was so fucking nervous the entire time like Goddamn!!!!! i dont wanna be stabbed lol 😢 it was also kind of cool though i was geeking out a little bit like no fucking way i am in a Springlock Suit. how cool♡ *sweats nervously* haha 😁

Why Springtrap Follows The Audio
Many people question why Springtrap aka William Afton is so easy to trick with the audio, to the point people make jokes about it. This is because these people miss over the key information that explains this in the game itself.
In the night 2 recording in Five Nights At Freddy's 3 it's explained that the Fredbear and Springbonnie animatronics are programmed to follow the sound of kids. Springtrap is no longer in suit mode but is in animatronic mode, caused by the spring lock failure in the Follow Me mini games. While William is possessing Springtrap the animatronic will still act upon it's programming when it hears the audio go off.

Did some more art lol.
I saw someone make a goofy version of Moon tackling Pit Bonnie so I wanted to make my own take on it.

So here it is.
I refer to it as: "GET BACK IN THE BALLPIT!!!"

First attempt at Springtrap's "anatomy"
If enough people like this I'll post the full image.
Multiple references used. I will make a cleaner version later. I already see flaws in the design that I want to tweak.
Edit: Since this post is still getting attention, please head over to the full image here if you haven't seen it already, thanks!

Sketch page of @gazing-into-infinity's Springbonnie and their friend's OC, Riley! A little bit of living suit. A little bit of unapologetic mechanical freakery. A lot of gay shit/pos 🤲🏼

Okay, so like
I've been sorta looking back on old fnaf recently and realized, "Hey, we never got an answer to if that was wires or hair!"
Like, is there proof it was just wires, or did Game Theory just say they were, so we all went with it? Did the Supreme guide mention it? Did any books mention it???
So I want y'alls opinions...

Oh, interesting. The FNAF books include a plotline where Springtrap intentionally springlocked himself. Didn't know that when I wrote something similar myself as part of a fake backstory he gives. Haven't looked into the specifics of the book plotine yet.
One consistent trait that I always give various versions of William is that he looooooves lying. And even my more sympathetic version in Fazbear Fault Lines who's backed into corners where he's forced to lie constantly, he still feels immense satisfaction at pulling off a big lie.
Megacross Springtrap has this big, grand story about being a manager / engineer / the sole performer for Spring Bonnie at Fredbear's in which he paints himself as another victim of the predatory company. He slowly watched everything fall apart, including the Springlock Suits because he couldn't get enough parts ordered for them. He gave the parts he did have to Fredbear, putting himself at risk of being crushed to death so other people would have a safe suit.
Sunk cost fallacy, pride, and a lot of other factors lead him to stay, then come up with a plan.
Long story short he tries to fake a Springlock incident "mangling his arm" to force Fazbear to stop using these specific suits as mascot costumes and it ends horribly. Not even retire them period or sue for damages, just stop making people climb into these deathtraps. "That's all I wanted, to keep people safe," and he killed one other person and got Springlocked for it.
Fazbear discovers this plan and fakes a manifesto that paints him as delusional while he's drugged into a coma, attempting to achieve Godhood by fusing metal and flesh. Megacross Springtrap's tone talking about this is quite incredulous, but he admits it was a genius move on their part to smear him: People would much rather believe one guy just lost it and crunched himself over the grim reality of how much Fazbear has been covering up. The community turns on him because of the manifesto and the tragic death of the person who tried to pull the Springlocks open.
Now I don't think it's a bad thing to have William be a remorseless killer AND a mad scientist. He can contain multitudes. The fact he was confident he understood remnant enough to rely on it saving him despite his paralyzing fear of death CAN provide a lot of interesting possibilities.
One way I can think of off the top of my head is his experiments always fail miserably, but his ego is so inflated, he cannot accept the idea of ever making a mistake, that he always rewrites his hypothesis to match what the data shows. He does this again and again but never takes the leap of faith in his own intelligence because some part of him knows how little he really understands. Then his hand gets forced, possibly by the threat of being jailed for his unethical experiments.
IDK just thought it was an interesting coincidence.
