Steady Tracks Do Not Waver
-Premise- On the return trip home from Hisui, Ingo does not return the same as he left. By some unknown cause, he has been transformed into a pokemon- 13ft tall, Steel, Ground, and very very out of his depth, he finds himself roaming the eerily familiar yet unfamiliar tunnels of Gear Station. Desperate to find a way to his "home" and remember who he is, that is when he encounters Subway Boss Emmet.
This story is not about Ingo. Or at least, not about his return. Ingo was taken out of the story many years ago, leaving Emmet behind to pick up the pieces of the life they always meant to spend together. The last several years he has walked without Ingo have forced him into an active, unavoidable struggle with grief and loss, until recent, when he finally began to come to terms with his solo-car life moving forward. However, now things are changing again. In the days leading up to their meeting, he hears rumors of a strange, powerful pokemon lurking in the subway. When Emmet finally stops in the right place at the right time to challenge it face to face- the face looking back is far too similar to the one he lost years before. It all bubbles back to the surface again; now, with an uncanny passenger in tow, he must keep moving forward down these uncertain tracks. Battling with grief once again, as he avoids pushing his old pains onto this new, familiar, face.
-Noteworthy Points- IF THIS AU INTERESTS YOU, please consider reading the prologue and chapter one on Ao3! Steady tracks! This is the one you probably know me for, if you know me at all. My poster boys!! My favoritest guys,, I want to include so many notes but I know most of the notes I want to write are all spoilers. Please poke me to keep writing <3 This AU is not even remotely dead I just have chronic burnout and it WILL continue please bother me about it whenever you want <3
This story is (and probably will continue to be) almost exclusively told from Emmet's point of view. It is a post-canon exploration of grief, change, and how to go on after everything you know is lost. THIS MEANS there is a LOT of discussion of death! NO ONE IS DEAD, but Emmet believes Ingo has died, and regularly experiences grief and/or talks about him as if he is dead. If that still bothers you, no problem! This is not going to be the fic for you. However, if it at all eases you to know that everyone is still alive, then have fun and maybe bring tissues because I really like writing people being upset (and also them getting better but, that involves them needing to be upset first.)
Also! New STIngo reference!! I have been working on updating the shape language of his design to look more like a pokemon and this is the most up-to-date version! If you want to draw him, reference this one! I swear I will get that side view done eventually, I fucking promise.
Enjoy <3 <3 I love this AU a lot.

hiiii throwing this wip away because I’ve read it too much and don’t like it anymore hehe
cw: sliiiiiiight somno dynamics, dubcon because he touches reader in their sleep, masturbation (reader), dirty thoughts, ID Leon in mind
Tumblr media
Dusk has long since fallen and past by the time Leon steps through the threshold of his condo. He’s soaking wet from the pouring rain outside, and he can’t help but scoff at how he left a few weeks ago amid a storm. The climate of Washington was seemingly unrelenting in its persistence to stay sodden.
He shucks his leather off, hanging it up and ignoring how rain droplets start to drip and gather into a puddle on the floor beneath — he’d deal with that in the morning. He was too busy clicking his belt loose, popping the first few buttons of his shirt as he stalks through the apartment with one destination in mind.
Stood at the bedroom door within the next few moments, he finally has half a mind to toe his shoes off. You know, the same ones that just left tracks of water through the house. Again, something ‘morning Leon’ would deal with in a few hours time. He is, however, more worried about the curled up form tucked under the covers of his bed.
“My little bed warmer,” he can’t help but chuckle to himself, his lips tugging up in the most genuine way they have in probably weeks. Stepping further into your shared bedroom, he finally rids himself of his button down, slipping out of the sleeves and folding it over a nearby desk chair on his way to the bed.
He stands there for a minute, gazing down at you adoringly. In reality, this last mission was far from one of his longer ones. It was just a few presidential appearances down in Philadelphia, then an incident in Chinese waters that had tied him up this time. A few weeks at best. But it didn’t diminish how tired he was, having to up and stride right into one mission after the last on the flip of the Presidents dime.
Sometimes, he wonders how he does this; being dragged around by the government and plopped wherever in the country. He was sure his body had probably aged at least ten years in advance internally by now. But he’d worry about that later. Because suddenly, he’s soothing a rough palm over your shoulder, sliding his hand under the hem of his t-shirt you donned.
“Taking a walk around my closet again, huh?” He coos down at your sleeping form, talking more to himself than you. He knows you can’t hear him, that you probably don’t register his fleeting touch.
You’re warm, pliant under his worn, weary hands. He barely restrains the shudder of delight that courses through him, melting and relieving him of all the undue stress the past month or so had served him. The feeling of your skin was like a stress reliever in of itself, your body his favorite piece of art to get lost in.
God, he was glad he was home.
Dancing along the soft slope of your shoulder under the material of your sleep shirt, he slides the sleeve up, eager to get a glimpse of any more of your skin. The groan that leaves him is unintentional, unable to be held back as he thumbs circles into your pliant bicep. Sharp eyes flick up to your face, looking for any signs that you’re waking up. And sure enough, you’re laid just as peacefully as you were when he walked in, your breathing steady and soft.
Maybe that’s why he finds himself coaxing the duvet down your torso, off your chest. ‘Just…. A bit more couldn’t hurt’, he tells himself. He ‘just wants to see you, that’s all’, as he slides the duvet down to pool around your hips now.
Leon’s has never considered himself a needy man. Not by a long shot. He’s not needy, and he didn’t miss you. No, he’s just cold. That’s why he’s slipping his hand now up the hem of your shirt, flattening his hand against the warmth your soft stomach provides.
He sighs, heavy and long, exhaling the weeks long amount of bullshit he had worked through yet again. Between stiff collared meetings with officials, unpredictable debacles, and rounds of combat, his nerves were shot.
Yet, your skin is warm, soft, inviting all the same.
Every time he steps back through the threshold of the apartment you share, it doesn’t matter what he saw, what he had to go out and do that go around. Because he knows that’s you’ll be here, soft and warm and eager for him, like his own personal piece of heaven. He could count on you to welcome him back into your arms, to take the weight of his weary body and heart into your hands.
“I don’t deserve you sweetheart,” he whispers, leaning down to press a chaste kiss to your temple.
One press of his lips turns into two, three, four. His kisses create a line down your jaw, smattering along your skin with affection.
With each connection his lips make with your skin, he finds himself lingering longer, his lashes fluttering shut, his brows knitting as he breathes you in. Unashamedly, he presses his nose into your cheek, under the hook of your jaw and inhales greedily, the scent of your shampoo and body wash you likely had only rubbed into yourself hours earlier making his cock swell in his pants.
Muttering a curse under his breath, his breath fans hot and shaking down your neck. Glancing up at your face for a moment, he concludes you’re likely in your deepest state of REM.
Somehow, that acknowledgment only goads the quickly growing coils of shame of himself, twisting and tightening in his gut. You were fast asleep, pretty as an angel beneath him, and here he was, breathing you in like some rabid dog. He was a grown ass man, for God’s sakes. And all it takes was a month away from you knocked his sense of shame, or lack thereof, on its ass?
His hand stops dead in its tracks when his fingers begin to glide along the swell of your chest, having started to graze just the underside. It had seemed his hand had a mind of its own while he was too busy scolding himself.
“Christ”, he mutters to himself, brows pinching, his eyes dilating as your (his) shirt slides tantalizingly further up your torso. He drinks in every inch, every centimeter of skin that is exposed under the dim lighting of the room like a man starved.
Delicately, gingerly, his fingers find your nipple under your shirt, coaxing it to stiffen under slow and deliberate swipes of his thumb across it. It’s only a moment later when it starts to harden, drawing a rumble of delight from deep within his chest.
“So eager even in your sleep, huh?” He murmurs, breathless in his attempt to diffuse the tension wringing his stomach taut. It helps him feel better, if even for just a moment, knowing your body accepts him even in its most vulnerable state. Except the loosening of that band within him stiffens and stabs him in the gut a moment later, shame in himself razor sharp and blunt as it sears him.
What was he doing? You were asleep, likely exhausted from the day you may of had. This wasn’t fair of him, touching you like this when you don’t even know he’s home.
He can only grimace when his body betrays him, his tongue dips out to wet his lips — subconscious, hungry. He was starved, having gone weeks without your, your body, your touch, your smell-
Another deep breath in, and he’s noticing something else. Notes of tanged, old sweat, maybe by a few hours hanging in the air, clinging to your skin. A tackiness to your nape, your hair curled ever so slightly at the base. He finds himself pausing, eyes flickering over your skin.
The slope of your breasts under your night shirt, the way it’s slid ever so slightly off your shoulder. Upon tugging the duvet further down, off your hips, down your thighs, it’s only then that he pieces everything together. Sure, maybe you chose his shirt to sleep in because you missed him, because his cologne and musk was weaved into the cotton after use. It was an easy excuse.
However, he knows that’s not the only reason.
Inner thighs sticky, shiny with the drying evidence of your desire, your toy still nestled between your plush skin, it’s all far too incriminating. Maybe his sweet baby was a bit more desperate for him than he realized. A bit more perverted than he ever cared to give you credit for, getting off in his clothes.
Briefly, he wonders how long you were at it, how good it was. It must’ve been good, he wanted it to be. Was today specifically tiring? Was your climax that good? Or was it a mix of both that had you passing out before you could get cleaned up. That’s usually his job, cleaning you up after a long session. Not that he minds, not in the slightest.
But… he’s here now, right? Sure, you’re asleep now… and maybe he didn’t get the pleasure of watching the show… but it’s still his job. It’s the least he can do after being away for so long.
Right?

Hey lost! As someone (you) who's been in the fandom for quite awhile now, what do year do you think was the peak of Eruri? or when was the last time that the (Eruri) fandom has been very (insanely) active? I do vaguely remember reaching me when I was a different fandom when ACWNR was released. Just curious I guess.
I'm inclined to say right now. There's an incredible, and incredibly diverse range of activity going on all across the Eruri fandom. In the last couple of months the Eruri Colouring Book has been published, pre-orders for The Paradise Zine have just closed, and there have been two charity events that raised thousands of dollars for important causes. In addition, there are more ship weeks than I can keep track of, several writing events and challenges (that I also can't keep track of), the number of Eruri fics on AO3 just keeps on growing, and we're still getting a steady stream of official art and merchandise featuring Erwin, frequently with Levi by his side.
I know there is always a tendency in any fandom to look back nostalgically to some imagined golden era, and there are will always be fans who will spend more time bemoaning the fact that their fandom is dying, rather than actually creating new content for it. Rather than yearning for the past, I think it's a better idea for focus on the amazing content that's being created right now. I guess if you were to measure Eruri content curation empirically, there was probably more content created after Midnight Sun in 2016 than at any other time. It was an amazing outpouring of grief, love and creativity and I'm glad that I was part of it. Would I want to go back there? Absolutely not. Though I must admit I am a little bit nostalgic for Midnight Sun era Erwin characterisation...

Revolver (1966)
So, you know from my previous write-up that I think Rubber Soul is a little bit underrated. I think there may be a similar thing occurring here, as while it's more likely to be picked as The Greatest Beatles Album, it's still in the shadow of what comes right after and a couple of the later ones. Still, this is home to a couple of absolutely iconic staples as well as a few hidden gems. Deciding to scrap live concerts entirely, they could now dabble with The Studio itself to bring out new and exciting sounds. Load up yer bullets and ready the needle arm, we're on something Revolutionary.
Tumblr media
The famous line art and collage made by Friend of the Band since Hamburg days, Klaus Voormann! Ya can't deny he gets their likeness, though George's direct look at the viewer with those lips is a bit unsettling for me personally. Still, it's what they call Art and the first cover that isn't a single photograph, we have iconic illustration and an eclectic montage here! Very cool ...if not something I'd want on my wall lol
SIDE ONE
Taxman: Remember how in the previous write-up for Run For Your Life, I complained about how dope instrumentals were bogged down by lyrics that sucked? Well it's a similar situation here! I'm Pro-Public Sector being funded by the Ultra Rich being shaken down for change!! I know the Marginal Rate was huge, but it was for those who could, like, actually afford it. Unfortunately that may include Daft Rock Stars, innit? .....Anyway yeah, the guitar shredding is really good but the cleverness of the lyrics is wasted by picking the wrong stance, so this ain't one I listen to that often. The music video on the official youtube is pretty visually interesting though.
Eleanor Rigby: A sad tale of an older lady dying alone, ya wouldn't expect it to be one of the most iconic songs by a band that's already made countless bangers about love and sex and rocking out, wouldja? And maybe it's because of that stark difference, and the song itself being so beautiful, that it stands out and even wins over Beatle Haters! The sound is best in the 2022 remix, obviously, but I like to watch the music video that was in Yellow Submarine for this song, where a multitude of different Lonely People are shown. But the fairly detailed story described without visuals really does tug at the heartstrings (apt that this tune has such a prominent String Octet, haha).
I think part of what makes this work so well is, not just the Tragic Narrative, but also the mundane nature. The allusion to wearing a mask of a false self in public, the bluntness of the apathy shown to strangers. Dreams that go unfulfilled, words that go unheard, your entire life being known only as you have a headstone, if that. It applies to countless people we walk by every day. And the irony of how Eleanor and the Father McKenzie might have been able to connect, but only actually have contact when he's performing her lonely funeral. Owch.... a great song but Not a fun one!
I'm Only Sleeping: First of all, I MUST endorse the painting music video that's also on the Official Youtube. Even if ya've heard this song countless times, you have gotta See it too!!
Anyway, gorgeous strumming and a steady drum balance the slower pace of this number. John's vocals are serene and drowsy, matching the feeling of having a lazy morning in a comfy, comfy bed. The way the music pauses and starts back up with increased tempo, the backward guitar (!!) and how the song starts to repeat itself from the beginning again all give it such a beautiful, distinct vibe, and again it's pretty faithful to that feeling when you doze off and lose track of time.
Love You To: After George's previous song being blazing electrical guitar set to complaining, this one is quite different! Very sitar heavy and introspective, with a very slow start for a while before kicking off with the vocals. It's not really my bag, but I can appreciate the artistry in it, at least. After such a long intro the outro feels pretty abrupt, too.
Here, There and Everywhere: This also has an animated video on the Youtube! It's nice but oddly rotoscopes Help! (Movie) footage among other things, it doesn't feel as Bespoke so it's optional as far as I'm concerned lol. Anyway! Paul does a Beach Boys! It's a pleasant, serene ode to a nebulous woman but, while I like it, it doesn't have quite the memorable staying power other than that it sounds like another band did it. Sorry for being so mild, Paul! I just like others ya did more!
Yellow Submarine: YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
A real Marmite of a song, innit? I adore it, myself~ It's deceptively complex, hidden behind what could be seen as a monotonous, repetitive lyrics sheet, but for those who listen not only with yer ears but your heart and soul as well, you'll enjoy it :3
Even without reading Pro-Community or Escapism subtext within, the base level of a children's song with pretty described visuals and creative, clever sound effects over a catchy base tune with Ringo's vocals really make a song that's more than the sum of its parts. No wonder it did so well as the Title Track and Main Vehicle of the animated movie! XD (Also, as a Supermarionation Fan, I sure suspect Thunderbird 4 was inspired by this number as well as the practical truth that yellow is the most visible colour under water~)
She Said She Said: The LSD in this one is very apparent lol. A bit of mystery lurks in no one knowing if Paul actually played on the final version due to some undisclosed drama. The ......metre? changes partway in and (as always) the instruments are groovy, but again I'm not wild about it and wouldn't notice if it were cut lmao
SIDE TWO
Good Day Sunshine: This hits a little different when hot days are very annoying... but I can't fault this song for the massive shift in climate! I do like how upbeat and jolly this is, the piano offers an interesting flourish and some good harmonies and cymbal crashing.
And Your Bird Can Sing: This is the song I always think of when mulling over Hidden Gems by the Beatles. It's 2 minutes of Rock Perfection and yet it's chronically overshadowed by so many others! While there's much debate over who or what "your Bird" may be, the actual thesis of the song is about deflating materialism and pride, which is cool. The guitar shredding, rhythmic percussion and that triple harmony with "you tell me that you've heard every sound there is" make this such a delight! I think that particular vocal sync may even be the best I've ever heard, it's sooooo great~
For No One: Paul's at it again with 'Maaaan dating Jane Asher isn't doing it for me' songs! However I think this is the best of them lol. Very engaging piano and clever lyrics about two former lovers who now feel mere indifference for the other. Somehow they've drifted apart and it's only a matter of time until they admit defeat and make it formal, but we're not there just yet.
Doctor Robert: This is weird cause it's based on the real dentist the lads used, who spiked John and George with acid and in general seems like the most cartoonishly suspicious kind of nightmare who you really don't want to be left in charge of your numbed body, what the fuck?! I mean the song itself is pretty rockin' but dear GOD do I hope they cut that dude out once the drugging came to light. I'd be hiring some fucking Goons to scare him rather than writing a ditty about the situation, but I guess their ways of coping differ to modern times... oh right, the music? It's good, duh! I'll highlight Paul's Bass as being a very Groovy fixture~
I Want To Tell You: This one I tend to forget about entirely lmao. George at it again, good piano and drum work... I think the Bridge is good but the main song doesn't do much for me. Another "well it's not Bad, but..." number. Huh, sorry George, I know songs ya made that I adore but they ain't here...!
Got To Get You Into My Life: Ska?! In The Beatles? It's more likely than you think! But I actually prefer the "Second Version" that one may find on the YT or Super Deluxe edition. This main one sounds a little overpowering with really loud brass and Paul's voice seems to be filtered. I loooooove that it's a declaration of devotion to Weed instead of a person this time though, while cunningly woven to fly under the Morality Police radar.
Tomorrow Never Knows: This is more Art than a song, and I mean that in a good way! The completely unique Sounds and the experimental Techniques, Ringo's beating on them drums..... it's just really fun to listen to~ Mere words don't work so well for this one XD;;;
CONCLUSION
Best 3: Eleanor Rigby, I'm Only Sleeping, Yellow Submarine
Blurst 3: Love You To, She Said She Said, I Want To Tell You
Hmm, picking the Blurst was really hard this time and now it looks like I have Anti-George sentiments, which I don't! But it's less the choices there are Bad and more Not For Me. That's part'a why I've been saying Blurst this whole time instead of Worst, the subjective aspect can't be ignored...! And maybe I'm showing a little Bias in the Best category, but again it's painful to hafta discard bangers like And Your Bird Can Sing for anything, but I love me some Yellow Submarine just that much more ^^;;
I already used the line, but fuck it; Revolver is indeed Revolutionary. (Read that in the Devious Diesel voice Ringo does, please~). The studio tweaks done to increasingly Sophisticated music really marks a change in the landscape, not just for these Bugs, but the medium as a whole. That kinda sentiment persists with a lot of Beatle Moments, of course, but I think Revolver represents a real point of no return.
🪲🪲🪲🪲
Next month, we'll be (checks notes) ah, instead of The Beatles, there'll be a new group 『サージェント・ペパーズ・ロンリー・ハーツ・クラブ・バンド』. I hope you tune in anyway, as they're very well regarded! A splendid time is guaranteed for all~

Yuji Itadori Exercise Program
Tumblr media
LOOK ok, the only reason people think Sukuna is hot is because of Itadori's physique.
Sukuna is muscular in his own right but do we really think that he trains? I'm maybe just a little butthurt here lol.
So Yuji is just strong ok? He probably doesn't really train much for his physical abilities, and he is one of those athletically and spatially gifted people who has strength, speed, and agility born into him. He also enhances his combat abilities by watching movies and due to his physical giftedness letting him execute whatever he sees. We can't really do that... But that doesn't mean we won't try!
Here is how his training is broken down:
Middle School:
PE/ Teen Activities: All schools have it, he went to a regular middle school so unlike BNHA PE, this'll be more normal 2-3x a week running laps, playing sports (track and field/ball sports)
Minimal weightlifting/calisthenics: Yuji didn't even want to join a club so that he could go and see his grandfather everyday. He probably went to the gym/school weight room 2x a week max. Likely with friends as he was quite a popular guy, and as a teen he might like to just keep in good shape though he was born not needing to do that. Yuji doesn't strike me as the type to max out , but he trains heavy, to make it worth his time. He probably progresses really easily and once he can complete his sets with whatever weight, he just bumps it up.
Martial arts/agility: We know he didn't go to classes for this, but somehow has these skills built into him just by observation from movies and things even prior to attending Jujutsu Tech.
We could note this as a 'beginners phase'
Jujutsu Tech Training:
Here is where Yuji was actually challenged, and he just... wasn't enough. We see him break down when he realizes he can't do enough to help people close to him, so he improves and trains.
PE/ Activities: Now it starts getting more intense, they train the students to survive, there is also sparring and formal combat training here. He works on his cursed energy with others formally and informally. Don't tell me Yuji , Megumi, and Kugisaki have never tested each other's improvements, or played casual games of pick-up basketball, or whacked each other with Maki's shinai. They probably train 4-5x a week.
Weights/Calisthenics: Yuji MIGHT pick this stuff up more just for the sake of making up for lack of cursed energy in the start with brute strength. As the story progresses he might do it less because cursed energy picks up the slack. Let's put this at 3-4x a week, he does this in the mornings.
Movie watching Martial arts: Probably covered by PE, thats where he practices what he visually learned while applying cursed energy to his new moves. He probably watched a few nightly. We'll call this 'active recovery' or 'shadowboxing' as he learns new moves in his room. The movies were for him to learn emotional regulation, and produce a flow of cursed energy no matter what, so maybe 'steady state cardio?'
Diet/Recovery: I have a treat for everyone! I made a up recipe for the meatballs he makes for him and Gojo and that Megumi makes when they all think he's dead. It's really good! The recipe is 'my own' but thoroughly inspired by many online recipes, and the official recipe shown in the anime. This is very nutritious, so lets just say Yuji eats pretty good, he also seems to like steak, so he likes his protein. He does treat himself while watching movies, you should too (based on your needs and goals)!
Chicken Meatball Nabemono:
Meatball Ingredients:
300g minced chicken
1 clove of garlic, minced
3 tbsp minced ginger
1/3 cup green onion, chopped
1 tsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp sugar
1/8th tsp baking soda (for texture reminiscent of bo vien, skip if you are not fond of that texture)
3/4 tsp pepper
3/4 tsp salt
For serving: Carrot, shiitake mushrooms, cabbage (washed and chopped) + Rice or noodles
Broth:
1.5 tsp chicken bouillon (Lee Kum Kee brand or other)
0.5 tsp dashi powder
300-400 ml hot water
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sake
2 tbsp mirin
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix the minced chicken with minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped green onion, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, baking soda, pepper, and salt. Shape the mixture into small meatballs.
In a large pot or nabe (Japanese hot pot), combine the broth ingredients: chicken bouillon, dashi powder, hot water, soy sauce, sake, and mirin. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Once the broth is simmering, carefully add the chicken meatballs, chopped carrots, shiitake mushrooms, and cabbage to the pot. Allow everything to cook until the meatballs are cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
Serve the Chicken Meatball Nabemono hot from the pot. Optionally, serve with rice or noodles on the side.
Recovery: Reversed cursed technique. We don't have that for any bumps and bruises etc... So standard procedures apply, rest, ice or warm therapy, eating well, lots of water.

Saturday: OFF/ Play a sport with friends, get some steps in etc...
Sunday: OFF/something active like hiking or just messing around in the park, household chores etc...
-------------------------WORKOUTS PART 2 ---------------------------
------------------------- JUJUTSU TECH HIGH -------------------------
Monday:
PE:
Basketball time! Or some other fun sport, come on, it's Monday. Give yourself about 30-60 of a fun active sport, the goal is to get sweaty but have so much fun you don't feel like it's working your cardio
Cursed energy control : Honestly this could be taken as the students doing some calisthenic skill work or something. Can't do a pushup? Hold the isometric down position it'll get you strong! Working on something more advanced like a front lever or planche? Hold the progressions you can do for time! This should only take about 10 minutes of your day max (isometric training ooo -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIVlncTK6oA)
Martial Arts work: Uhh, you could do a class, shadowbox a bit, completely skip this and just move to solo training, really shouldn't be more than 20 mins - 1 hour.
Solo Training: Push
Incline Press Variation (2x warm up sets -> 3x5 working sets -> 1x max effort, lower weight, with partials burnout set)
(opt. Weighted) Dips (1 x warmup set (could even be with bands), 3 sets increasing in weight, or just to failure)
Explosive push ups (think: getting airtime) (2 x to failure)
Push Press (2 x warmup sets -> 3 x 8 -> 1x burnout with lighter weight)
Lat raises (total 100, doesn't matter how many sets, pick a challenging weight that you can get 10-20 with)
Tuesday:
PE:
Racing time! Slowest one has to clean the clean the classrooms (if you work out with friends race them, and the loser has to buy pizza or dessert next outing). Do some sprint work, sorcerers need to be quick on their feet, and students are indeed a competitive bunch.
Cursed energy control: Tempo calisthenics/weights! You can do basic push and pull ups (or pull up negatives), squats very very slowly/explode on the concentric and control the eccentric. Do them until YOU are tired because cursed energy is greatly personal. Track your times/reps just aim to improve.
Wednesday: OFF/Long walk
Thursday:
PE
Steady state cardio: This is your endurance training, stair-master, cycling, a long walk. This is your cardio for an hour, you should be getting a little sweaty but still able to chat with your friends and argue about whether you want steak or sushi after this.
Cursed energy control (isometric training): How is this different from tempo? Well it's not a ton of movement, it's just holding a position see this for ideas:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp2AMkdXM90
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkCTpBaj-AA
Solo Training: Pull
Deadlifts: (Mainly just according to feel and keeping good strength -> 5 sets broken into: 2 warmup, 3 sets ramping up in difficulty, NOT A 1rm every session, try adding a rep/set or a 5lb/2.5 kg increase per WEEK)
Rows: (2-3 x warmup sets -> 5 x 5 heavy as can be without breaking form, if your low back is too fatigued, replace with t-bar or dumbbell variation.)
Muscle Ups/Pull Ups : (2 x failure)
Lat Prayers: (4 x 10)
Curls + Face Pulls: Not terribly important (what a great thing to say lol) just go until you get a huge frikin pump with a reasonable rep range, do variations, go down the rack with drop sets, just rep like crazy (try to keep it under 25 reps per set)
Friday :
PE
Steady state cardio: Same as above
Martial Arts work: Same as above
I got tired of typing ok :P
Saturday:
Solo Training: Legs
Squats: Same as deadlifts, tumblr won't allow copy+paste
Box Jumps: (4 x 15, go higher when it feels easy )
Pistol/Shrimp Squats: 2 x to failure per leg
Leg Press: (4 x 10, reasonably heavy, focus on knees over toes)
Sprint training/ hill sprints as a finisher.
Sunday: OFF/something active like hiking or just messing around in the park, household chores etc...

20th Anniversary
Ayumi Hamasaki: Moments (2004.03.31)
Ayumi Hamasaki's Moments was the beginning of what the industry and now the lay public refer to as a new "era." The single followed the release of Ayu's first mini-album, a collection of eight songs released at the end of 2003 that compiled her last three singles (including the tripe A-side &, No way to say, and forgiveness), along with four new songs, of which all but one received an accompanying music video (that would be the closing, and fan favorite, title track "Memorial address (take 2 version)," which is considered something of a bonus track.
Her next album would be released almost one year later, and to kick start the promotions, she released the elegant "Moments," a sort of melancholy spring ballad similar to previous ballads like "No way to say" and "HANABI ~episode II~." In hindsight, this was an ominous choice -- ominous as in thick with omens, not inauspicious or threatening -- because it succinctly foretold the musical language of its resulting album, MY STORY (think "walking proud" and "HAPPY ENDING"). It has a steady pace, but it never lacks for punch in the chorus, and like the return to spring itself, it's cyclical, always shifting back to that slower pace again and again. This is another in a running series of "seasonal" singles that Ayumi, like the rest of J-pop, indulged in, but which took on a particular significance here with the two follow-ups: the summery "INSPIRE" and wintry "CAROLS." This sets up MY STORY as a deliberate year-long diary that uses the seasons as a foundational base. And "Moments" is where it all starts, with its symbolic invocation of new life and rebirth in the flowers and bright greens of the cover art. The music video, too, features a literal room full of technicolor flowers, an almost blinding bubblegum-pink field of blooms among which children play. In classic Ayu PV fashion, it takes on a sinister feel, but never gets scary or ugly, instead depicting an uncanny kind of wonder.
In March of 2004, we were well beyond the point of maxi-singles that featured a dozen remixes of the title track, but we do get two remixes on this single: a beautiful acoustic piano version that invoked the Acoustic Orchestra series of remix albums, as well as a mostly forgettable dance remix by CMJK titled the "Flying humanoid Mix." I'm disappointed by this remix, as CMJK usually produces some great stuff, like the "Ocean View Remix" of "Far away" as well as the extended mix of "opening run" on the Daybreak single. Ayumi's vocals sound great on this track so the acoustic piano version, which trades all of the pomp of the original for simple piano and some strings, sounds fantastic.
This was the first Ayu single to be released in both a regular CD-only version, and a CD+DVD version that included the music video. The latter required an extra $8 for the DVD of the music video which can now be found on Ayu's official YouTube channel for free. The cover art was also the same for both versions of this, something that wouldn't change for three more singles until 2005's fairyland. The CD comes with an OBI and a booklet that features lyrics and song credits, as well as a promotional leaflet.

THE LIGHT SIDE OF THE MOON: SCARLETT TAYLOR'S VEIL
Tumblr media
All Photo Credits to Helen Elizondo. Essay by Tejas Desai.
The New Wei is proud to introduce a feature series on bold, dynamic artists who push the boundaries of what's possible and deliver a unique life vision.
Our first ever feature is musician Scarlett Taylor. The 23 year old phenom (it's her birthday today, btw!) is a groundbreaking auteur who today 2/1/24 released her second album HALLOWS, a live remastered version of her spectacular debut demo album Veil. She is also playing a show tonight at the renowned NYC music venue Pianos at 7pm:
The following essay examines her music, motivations, and milieu, from her beginnings in quiet but dynamic Lancaster, Pennsylvania to her breakout releases over the past year, when she has come into her own in the greatest city on Earth. You won't find musical biography or criticism this in-depth in any publication outside of possibly Rolling Stone.
So keep it right here on The New Wei, people!
Tumblr media
While Olivia Rodrigo croons about relationship revenge and Billie Eilish belts movie soundtracks, another young singer is creating a different path altogether. Her name is Scarlett Taylor, she’s about to turn 23 and she is churning out a more thematically complex oeuvre than her contemporaries.
The 13 songs of her debut demo album Veil are rich in sound and meaning, from the abstract “Love Where the Soul’s At,” dedicated to the decapitated descriptions of Aphrodite in Greek art, to “The Night Beast,” where Taylor evokes “howling at the moon,” to the electronic-heavy “Déjà vu” and the doppelganger-themed “Shadow Talking.” The themes include her own concepts like the veil, silhouette and perfect timing, along with timeless ones like loneliness, fate and loss.
These tracks were released biweekly from her 22nd birthday on February 1, 2023, to the album’s official release date on August 1, 2023. 8 remastered versions will be available on her 23rd birthday, February 1st, 2024, on a live album called HALLOWS.
Before starting this steady output, Ms. Taylor was not performing or creating music regularly—previously she had only released one song called “Clementine,” which she has since disowned and taken off Spotify, claiming it “was not her own” because someone else produced it.
By contrast, Ms. Taylor has controlled every aspect of Veil’s creation and marketing. She makes her own merch, which includes sewing shirts, drawing posters, and creating pins. She performs regularly and creates art daily. This output, apparently, has been personal and artistic therapy for Ms. Taylor, who described the process of creating and releasing as “transformative like the cycles of the moon.” In fact, the biweekly releases are timed to coincide with the full moon and new moon, important symbols for her complex life philosophy.
I first officially met Scarlett Taylor at The Purgatory in Bushwick, Brooklyn, where she was scheduled to open for another up-and-coming singer, Taylor Mecca. Upon arriving, I spotted Ms. Taylor, a tall blonde wearing a trench coat with a guitar strung around her shoulder. I introduced myself. She was so excited I had come to see her play that she gifted me a button-down t-shirt she had sewn from scratch that exemplified the themes of her album: the veil and the silhouette.
On the other side of a flower pattern, the t-shirt stated: “Slipping into the Silhouette of this Veil.” According to Ms. Taylor, the veil represents the parts of us that others cannot see or that we hide, whereas the silhouette symbolizes those that are inevitably public. It seems that in her construction the truth behind the complexity of any human is a balance between those two elements, and perhaps her music tries to capture the space between that divide. Yet the meaning of her work goes well beyond this dichotomy because she describes her songs as “Witch Music,” which is also a title of one of the tracks.
To understand Ms. Taylor’s thinking and aesthetic intent more fully, it might make sense to delve into her background. Her father is Chad Taylor, long-time guitarist of the alternative rock band Live, which released 9 albums over 25 years and experienced some commercial success in the 1990s. Her mother is a yoga teacher. She was born and grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a distinct mixture of extremely progressive and conservative lifestyles. Ms. Taylor says she was raised in a loving home, where her parents cultivated both her musical and spiritual development. She attended private schools, including Montessori. She has two sisters, both of whom are artists of various types, though neither are musicians.
From the beginning, her parents had an enormous influence on her life path. When her father was home from tours, music would fill the house, and like her mother, she was trained in yoga, becoming a teacher herself. When it was time to consider colleges, she decided to apply to only one school, the Clive Davis School of Music at NYU, which she has attended for the past three years and from which she graduated early in December 2023. If she had not gained acceptance, she says she would have continued to live at her parents’ home in Lancaster, teaching yoga, perhaps working a day job, and creating her music.
In Lancaster, witches, mediums, and doulas filled her social life, and she says that she is fortunate to have been surrounded by so many spiritual women, who taught her to read tarot cards, to release and manifest, to understand the meaning behind the intersection of stars and moons. This is why she celebrates witches, who she says are light workers who inform people how to live a more joyful and loving life through rituals and serving magical elements.
It seems Ms. Taylor’s music is a means of performing this work within herself. Her life has changed immeasurably for the better since she started releasing her music. She is far more spiritually and emotionally positive, and it has unfurled an enormous social life in New York City for her that revolves around music and art.
Tumblr media
I categorized my first meeting with Ms. Taylor as “official” because I had encountered her once before. Earlier that summer, I had attended a concert at a converted garage in Bushwick called The Shop. I was there to see another rising star, model-cum-rocker Bec Lauder, who had described it on Instagram as a “secret little show.” I needed to click on a link, enter a password (that I gleaned from another spotlighted band’s post) and pay $8 via Venmo or cash at the door. Being old school and middle-aged, I think I was the only one to pay cash, and Ale, one of the organizers who lived upstairs, needed to go to his apartment to get change for me.
I had come half an hour late, fashionably, but I still needed to wait another hour to see the first band play. During that time, I drank a Bud, included in the price, and met some of The Wedding Planners, the group that organized the event. Jacob Geoffrey and Ale, of the band Ale’s Love Letters, are both musicians themselves, while Maddie, one of several non-musicians, is a philosophy PhD. student, part-time painter, and editor of A Zine.
Several copies of this publication were stacked up in the corner of the garage, and their content, a mixture of poetry, grotesque drawings, and trauma-based prose, seemed to correspond to the shadow work of Ms. Taylor’s musical imaginings. She was there as well—we exchanged a smile—but I never actually met her that night.
The space was filled with art. It was one of a series of monthly concerts that focused on different themes. That evening it was “Magic Night”—participants were urged by email to “dress magically” and there was a magician on-site doing tricks—whereas other themes included “Beach Night,” “Art Night,” and “Alien Night.”
The crowd consisted of young 20 somethings, mostly seniors in college or recent graduates. The initial attendees seemed to know each other, and I was treated with a mixture of fear and wonder.
According to Ms. Taylor, the Wedding Planners formed from a text thread created by Mr. Geoffrey, a recent NYU grad himself. There’s no individual photography allowed at Wedding Planner events (there usually is a designated photographer, however), meaning it’s one of the rare contemporary concerts where a million iPhones aren’t held up to a performer’s face. Ms. Taylor says this radiates a different energy, and it’s meant to form a safe space with no judgment for performers and participants alike.
Concerts are essentially ceremonies, according to Ms. Taylor, and one of the most intriguing aspects of the Wedding Planners concerts is that they perform mock weddings during the night. After their set, the first act throws a bouquet into the crowd. Whoever catches it must propose to someone by the end of the night—it could be a stranger, their friend, a crush, whoever. One of the Wedding Planners officiates, and sometimes this is Ms. Taylor. Otherwise, the night has a few acts, and a DJ takes care of the rest.
Among this friend’s group are an endless number of young musicians, some of whom are Wedding Planners, others not. A vastly truncated list includes Jacob, Ale and Bec, Stevie Bill and Juliet Ivy, Ty Lorenzo, Khaliko and Vanessa Camacho. But for me, Ms. Taylor’s music stands out as worth exploring in depth.
Throughout Veil, there’s a tension between opposing forces—the veil and silhouette, nature and man, love and sex, spirit and body, beast and machine. The narrator struggles within herself to understand the tensions between these elements, and ultimately, concludes that a greater force might be at work in the orientations of her life.
The first quarter of Veil focuses on the individual’s relationship with the cosmos in a mechanized world, beginning with its title track, which will be renamed “Perfect Timing” on the live HALLOWS album. Immediately the singer slips into the silhouette of this veil, and the progression of the song suggests confusion and transformation. In “Internet,” or “The Machine” on HALLOWS, the singer laments a mechanized world where “machines talk to robots” and regrets “growing up online.” “Illusion” finds the narrator defiant that she “won’t quit howling at the moon,” or give up trying to understand the universe despite our man-made reality.
Then we are thrust into a dream and dance sequence of rock rhythms and electronic beats. “New Year’s Day,” a cryptic diatribe, flows into “Déjà vu,” where a dreamy, naive girl meets her lover in the cosmos, and concludes with a desperate wish for reciprocation. “Witch Music,” defining the album’s core vision, serves as its pivot, interrupting its pensiveness with a clubby dance anthem.
The third quarter of Veil explores decadent nights, stormy relationships and insecure feelings. “Tooth Decay” evokes the image of a cigarette on an ashtray and transitions to foreplay and one-night stands. “Love’s Where the Soul’s At” explores the tension between body and spirit, as a woman wonders why she’s loved, and whether her lover is placing her on a pedestal for the wrong reasons. “I don’t want to be like a god to you,” she insists. “I wish my body was gone.” But she keeps repeating to herself, “sex means more” than love, perhaps trying to convince herself that it does.
“The Labyrinth is Bored” uses the metaphor of a bullfight to explore the power dynamics of entanglements and break ups. “Deep grief, time thief. I’m forever mad at the matador. Wrap my skin in red, the victory is yours,” she says, apparently giving into her lover’s worship, whereas in “Night Beast,” the narrator feels guilt “in hindsight” for her previous behavior. “I’ve been the night beast, howling at the moon. A lover to you, destined and doomed.”
The album’s final quarter brings us back to the individual’s battle within herself—the tension between her internal confusion and external savvy. “Slide Down the Wall” evokes the familiar feeling of finally having a relationship you’ve always wanted but now feel you don’t deserve: “You told me you’d be by my side. You are what I’ve been looking for. Loving you feels so easy. Loving you feels like changing seasons. Loving a fool. Loving a fool.” Despite having what she wants, the narrator is still dissatisfied, and wonders if a human relationship is enough to satisfy her need for personal evolution.
The next song, “Where the Shadow’s Play,” references a tempered moon and evokes a lover’s gloom about loneliness and loss. “Meet me where the shadow’s play. My darling’s gone in the afternoon. Sun’s pouring into my moon.” Here the narrator confronts her doppelganger and ponders light and darkness as she considers her true path.
In the final song, “Shadow Talking,” the narrator wakes up on a Monday morning, and considers her relationship-free reality. “My life is scary at night,” she laments. “Lately I’ve been running from my shadows.” Her doctor, in lieu of her lover, doesn’t talk to her and only prescribes her pills. “I’ll wait for the dawn, for that’s the only thing to do,” she concludes. Having struggled with nature and man, love and sex, and now alone to battle within herself yet again, she appears to be at an uneasy truce with the fact that things will unfurl as they will—and perhaps according to a greater ordinance.
Tumblr media
The moon themes and investigation of individual identity and mental health, along with the essential conflicts of the time in our “civilized” era, call to mind The Pink Floyd album The Dark Side of the Moon, released exactly 50 years earlier in 1973. Ms. Taylor claims this is mostly coincidental (although, she continuously notes, “there are no coincidences”). However, she has listened to it, as it was grandfather’s favorite album and her singing teacher at NYU, Machan Taylor, is the voice on The Dark Side of the Moon. So, she says there is a lot of “collision” with the album. but she hasn’t spent an exorbitant amount of time with it.
But it’s difficult to completely divorce this album from its predecessor. Like The Dark Side of the Moon, Veil is both a studio album and a concept album. It experiments with sound and is creative in the musical and recording process. In Ms. Taylor’s case, she uses stock logic plugins to alter her voice on certain songs. Just as Pink Floyd’s album was mixed at the famed Abbey Road, the tracks on Veil were mixed in the same studio as where Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger was recorded. The Beastie Boys donated this studio to NYU, and band Phoenix provided its EQ.
Veil is more electronic than rock and it has a decidedly female spin. But like The Dark Side of the Moon, its songs blend into each other in a way that add progressive meaning. While Pink Floyd often wrote their songs as they were touring, in Ms. Taylor’s case, the songs were released as she was creating them.
Yet, she insists, her major influences are more modern, including Maggie Rogers, Grammy-nominated alternative singer who graduated from Clive, got her master’s at Harvard, and shares some of Ms. Taylor’s academic interests; Taylor Swift; Phoebe Bridgers; Bjork; and Mitski. Her father, of course, was a musician with Live, and she was able to go to rock concerts at a very young age, a privilege most aspiring musicians don’t have.
Tumblr media
Ms. Taylor’s singing in Veil has a raw and caustic quality, so I was a bit surprised when she informed me that she has been trained professionally from a young age. Her crooning as a toddler led her parents to send her to singing lessons. She quickly graduated to musical theater, then opera, and competed in all-girls choir competitions in middle school.
While in high school, she always assumed she would take a more classical route, since he had always sung Soprano 1 opera music at her local college with their Artist-in-Residence who was a Metropolitan Opera singer. Yet this training, she says, prepared her well for rock music, which tends to be verbose, what she called an “Evanescence vibe.”
Why she now exclusively creates rock and electronic music, rather than continuing with opera, has to do with personal vision and control. With opera, she was a hired hand, but with rock, she can create what she wants. She can write her own lyrics and experiment with sounds. While the live album, HALLOWS, was not recorded by her, she did control all aspects of Veil, making it a true auteur work.
Yet, her auteur vision is matched by a strong fatalistic quality. In Ms. Taylor’s life philosophy, there is a sense that the future has already been written, even understood by those who have studied it for centuries, and she even says that we, as individuals, know more about the future than we let on, because we already plan for it on a daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly basis.
This duality is present in yet another concept of hers, “Perfect Timing.” In fact, she read an essay about this phenomenon at Lincoln Center a week before our first interview at an event called Truth to Power Café. In the essay she describes her sister’s metaphor of the lemon tree. Because it is a perennial plant, it continues to bloom without water or resources, and it can take between 15-70 years to grow a lemon even after planting the seed. You can either wait for the lemon to bloom with joy or fear, because either way the blooming is predestined, but you do not know it’s timing. Therefore, it’s the attitude of the bearer of fruit that is essential—everything else is prewritten without necessary knowledge.
Ms. Taylor takes this joyful and positive attitude wherever she goes: to her volunteer tutoring, to her classes, to her paid internship at a major record label, where she conducts research and writes reviews on which artists the label should sign, and reads tarot cards to anyone who is interested; and at her part-time job, where she studies the intersection of the stars and moons when not folding jeans.
She intends to stay in New York City, bolstered by her large, and ever growing, circle of friends in the burgeoning indie music scene here. Her goal is to create 2 albums per year for the next five years. When I asked her where she sees herself in that time, she was unequivocal that she would be able to make a living from her songs by then. “I believe it, so it will happen,” she proclaimed, despite the reality that she has only earned a few cents on Spotify for her songs so far.
But she is also practical. At this point, she does not plan to pursue advanced education, so she knows she will need a day job in the interim, and she is trying to gain positions at the record label or in the fashion industry, believing that her NYU degree will give her a leg up in this quest. But her music and art will always come first for Ms. Taylor.

Concept Art by Christian Alzmann
Part 2, Places People!
When we left Grogu and Din Djarin, sitting at the table in their little cabin on Nevarro, discussing the production being developed by the Nevarro Guild of Entertainments and Educational Programs to Promote the Culture and Achievements of Nevarro, Thanks to High Magistrate Greef Karga. Grogu had just revealed the true name of the Razor Crest...

“Revenge? That’s not the ship’s name. It didn’t even have a name that I recall.” Greef Karga grumbled.
“It was an ST-70, Razor Crest, Model M-111. It was originally called The Jedi’s Revenge. I don’t know who named it that. I certainly didn’t.” Grogu’s dad explained in his quiet, steady voice.
“You’re kidding!” Greef Karga exclaimed. “I’ve known you for years and you never told me that.”
“Didn’t seem important.”
The Mandalorian shrugged and Grogu knew that he needed to help get the interview back on track.
He ran over to the lady and showed her the small silver sphere he carried with him everywhere. At least he tried to. She was just staring at his dad and seemed a little lost. He coo’d loudly to get her attention.
That broke the spell and she looked at Grogu, frowning for an instant and then smiling brightly.
“Oh, look! That’s so cute! What have we here? May I hold it?” Her voice was very sweet and super enthusiastic.
Grogu handed her the flight control knob from the old Razor Crest.
“Is that made of beskar?” The man from The Guild asked when the lady handed it to him, although that was not exactly what Grogu had intended. He was kind of hoping that his dad would take it from her. He wanted to see what she would do if the Mandalorian actually touched her hand. Dang.
“No. Durasteel. It’s the ship’s flight control knob. It’s the only thing left from The Jedi’s Revenge. Grogu plays catch with it.” Din Djarin explained as he signaled Grogu to come over to him.
Grogu could sense that his dad would prefer that he stop helping to the two Guild members with the interview. He must have realized that he was talking more than he had the whole week before Greef Karga approached him about the production.
He trudged over to his dad and then hopped into Din Djarin’s lap, where he could barely see the two Guild members. He sighed.
“Buddy, we’re just here to provide technical support. Yes, the Razor Crest had two forward mounted Mk 3e/W heavy laser canons. They made short work of the Tie fighters and Greef and Cara were safe. Are we done here? I’ve got some maintenance to perform on the N-1.”
Grogu grumbled at his dad.
“Buddy, they don’t want to hear about you getting sick because you ate too many sweets.”
His dad took the silver ball back from the man and handed it to Grogu, no doubt to encourage him to stop interrupting.
“Oh, no, we’d love to know about that. Those details are what will make this whole production seem real. Does your son have a sweet tooth?” The Guild lady asked.
Grogu giggled at her question. Those cookies really weren’t sweet at all, but his dad didn’t know the proper names of foods like that. Apparently, Mandalorians didn’t eat a lot of sweets, so cakes, candy, confections, custards, pastries, pies, and frozen treats and their cousins were all unknown to his dad. As Grogu had travelled with the Mandalorian, his dad had simply referred to all of them as ‘sweets’, even the savory ones like gorg pops. It had been a frustration for Grogu because he had some real preferences and his dad often got it all wrong.
“The kid has a whole mouthful of sweet teeth based on his eating habits when he visits my official office.”
Greef Karga was annoyed again. Grogu wished he had a cookie he could offer the High Magistrate. It wasn’t Grogu's fault that the female human liked talking to the two Mandalorians more than him. They just had magnetic personalities, although Grogu could verify that magnets didn’t stick to beskar, which was very disappointing.
“That would make two of you.” Din Djarin commented blandly. “If you didn’t have all that stuff out on your desk, Grogu wouldn’t eat it. Apparently one of the children at the school offered him a container of blue sweet discs and when we were doing loop-d-loops to avoid the Tie fighters, his stomach got a bit upset and he ejected the contents onto his coverall. It took some effort to get the stains out.”
“So that was the maintenance you were doing?!” Greef Karga was outraged.
Grogu would have laughed, but he knew that he shouldn’t. It wouldn’t make the High Magistrate happy and he still wanted access to the desk drawer in his office that held the various bags of sweets and candies.
“Yes. You know Mandalorians stick together. And I never did find out why the children at the school were eating sweets for all of their meals.”
Grogu giggled at that. His dad was a great bounty hunter, but he didn’t always understood that sometimes the story was better than the reality and Grogu liked a good story.
“Eating sweets for their meals? I’ll have to have the instruction droid’s programming checked. That should not be happening. Good. You should have enough details for the script now, correct?”
Greef Karga asked the question in a manner that Grogu understood to be a command. The High Magistrate was getting better at giving orders that didn’t always sound like orders.
“Yes. We do. Come along Agira. If we need additional details, can we call upon you again?” The male Guild member asked.
“Sure, if we’re around. Grogu and I have a trip to Takodana coming up and I’m not sure when we’ll be back.” Din Djarin replied.
“Thanks Mando. We’ll be seeing you when the production is ready for its first showing.” Greef Karga finally smiled at Grogu’s dad.
When the three visitors left their cabin, Grogu complained at his dad about the imaginary trip to Takodana.
“You tell the stories you like and I tell the stories I like. Are you hungry?”
Grogu coo’d and chirped at his dad.
“Blue cookies? As you wish. But, in the right light I can still see that stain. Better eat them slower this time. Okay, buddy?”
As you wish.

Dust Watched: Aikatsu Planet! Movie
Genres: Idols, Music, SoL // 1 movie (43m) //  S01 (x) | S02 (x) | S03 (x) | S04 (x) | S05 (x)
Not gonna lie, considering how short “Aikatsu Planet!’s” season was, I really didn’t expect a movie but I’m actually quite glad it got one!
✧  story  ✧
The movie is just the perfect length in my opinion. Quite short but due to that it manages to keep a steady pace so there’s no boring moment in it.
The story is very simple, we jump a bit forward in time where Mao is now in her 2nd year of High School and all the girls have been doing their own things and keeping themselves busy. Missing her friends, Mao decides to host an “Aikatsu Planet! Gratitude Festival” where she invites all the main characters.
Definitely worthy to mention the little fanservice moments that harken back to the first season’s iconic moments or gags.
✧  characters  ✧
The movie is pretty much just showcasing the cast’s unique charms. My highlists were definitely Kyouko finally getting to beat the drums (pun intended) and Sala’s mini runway show. Some of the cast definitely gets sidelined unfortunately, most likely due to the short runtime, which was a bit disappointing.
✧  art  ✧
As usual the first half of the movie takes place in real life with the actors and the second half is animated inside “Aikatsu Planet!”. It’s pretty much the same as it was in the season for better or worse. The acting can be kinda cringe at some points and the art isn’t anything special. The CGI performances were veeeeery pretty though!
✧  sound ✧
For an Aikatsu movie there were surprisingly few insert songs (2 official performances), only one of which was shown for the first time here. While that’s a shame, “Tick×Tack Nostalgia” is probably one of my favourite tracks from this season.
✧  overview ✧
I honestly didn’t think that I’d enjoy this as much as I did. It’s short and sweet with not much substance but definitely a fun little watch for Aikatsu fans.
My Rating: 7.5/10

Black Sun Rising Ch. 16-18
Chapter 16:
not much here. Tarrant charms a xandu into being his steed after leaving Briand and Damien's group
the xandu gets more description in chapter 18 but for this one I just wrote down "weird alien horse-elk" which I don't think is too far off
Chapter 17:
the gang's on their way to the next day and everyone's distracted because of the hot vampire passing by. Senzei is curious enough to use a Working to see where Tarrant is. He finds his tracks, notice there's something spooky about them, and then where they mysteriously vanish (I'm also curious how that worked). Ciani theorizes that Tarrant isn't human but something masquerading as human, caused that teen boy's sickness, and has been playing a cruel game with them (while not fully accurate here, a villain pretending to be a mundane guy and 'helping' with a problem they caused as part of a game makes for a fun dynamic). Instead of trying to hunt down Tarrant they decide to head straight on to Kale
a new type of Work is introduced called a Sharing in which a fae user creates a mental link between themself and another to share the experience of a Working.
I am only a little ashamed that my first thought was how certain characters might incorporate this into sex because you know some adepts/sorcerors would be the exact kind of kinky to try. On a more serious note I suspect at least one Sharing will occur between Tarrant and Damien.
while Senzei is my least liked of the lead characters so far, I do think he's compelling. he's fascinated by the fae but doesn't have the natural gift for it that an Adept does. he's hungry for power and knowledge but it's sympathetic and he seems a decent fellow otherwise. Feels like a typical Greek tragic flaw which doesn't spell good tidings for his narrative.
a small thing I like is that there's not much friction between Damien and Senzei. Sure they're both stressed about the situation and Senzei seemed a little irritated about the Damien/Ciani thing but the author could so easily have gone "Senzei is in love with Ciani and is the petty jealous rival to Damien". But instead things remain pretty steady, Senzei is even a little comforting about Damien's anger and guilt about maybe being tricked into letting that teen boy in Briand die.
i do maintain that Damien's guilt would be more emotionally effective had Damien been the one to perform the magic euthanasia. Bystander guilt is awful but to be tricked into murder would be especially devastating to someone like Damien.
Chapter 18:
I think we get our first official sighting of Hesseth the Cat Lady. A little disappointed that she seems to be the small slender catgirl instead of the big buff catgirl I was hoping for. I'm sure she's a badass either way.
i did roll my eyes at the bit where the description took a detour to inform us that she did in fact have nice small breasts apparent even under the thick clothes. i'm not against the description of her chest size but i feel like it couldn't been integrated smoother. extra irksome that we get that before her name or personality.
I'm picturing the xandu as a slender fluffy reindeer with rainbow-colored horns. Is there official art for this funky creature?

End of the Second Year (the Hemming-Byrd Legacy)
[Legacy Challenge Rules] [My Legacy Sheet] [Blank Legacy Sheet] [Intro] [Previous]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ophelia starts Fall at the top of her career: she's now officially a Patron of the Arts! That marks the completion of both halves of the Painter career. Since they both completed their aspirations at the end of spring, Ophelia and Lanuola are on to new goals: Ophelia wants to be Lady of the Knits and Lanuola is hoping to expand her resume and become a Renaissance Sim. Baby Bea finally discovers a food she doesn't like: rice porridge! What can I say, the girl likes flavor. Other than that & lemon, she's scored liked/loved on every other food; what an easy baby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's Baby Bea's birthday! She's now officially a toddler and can fully enjoy her island home with her new found freedom. Ophelia sets aside some time for a special beach day with her little girl; while Lanoula's off at work they spend the day splashing in the water and building the silliest of sand sculptures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Little Bea has a lot to explore, including her own little hideaway on the hill. Thanks to her moms' schedules as a Writer and an Athlete, baby Bea hardly notices how busy they are because there's always someone home with her. And if not her parents, there's always the neighbors: Duane, Wiki, and Makoa have made good friends with the toddler after popping in to check on her enough times. (Duane, who would still rather stand on the curb rather than participate in club activities.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ophelia and Lanuola head out for a night at the Cabash Art Center to bolster their fame. Though it was looking like they were going to have their party crashed by a werewolf attack (again) Rory thankfully decided to take their rager home. Thanks to Rory's prudent judgement they were able to show face long enough to gain one star each: Lanuola is official a two star celebrity and Ophelia is a Global Superstar! On Thursday, she celebrated her Star Tile Placement Ceremony, memorializing her for her work creating brilliant masterpieces, writing thrilling bestsellers, sourcing thousands of dollars of paintings for galleries across the world, and a steady stream of philanthropic donations. Congratulations, Ophelia! Your star will now shine forever!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ophelia and Lanuola decided to celebrate with a date at a restricted celebs-only establishment; Studio PBP turns out to be exactly the quiet getaway they were looking for. Over expensive drinks and cheese they couldn't pronounce they discussed their future together. Will it be time to expand the Legacy soon? After a date to remember and lots of cheesy serenading the two return home just in time to tuck their little star into bed. There's nothing happier than coming home to Bea after a long night out. <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some celebration are made for mid-point victories. Lanuola and Ophelia enjoy a nice little dinner date to commemorate reaching the branch-point in their new careers: Ophelia is officially a Writer to put an official title to what was once a hobby and Lanuola has started down the path of Bodybuilder, to really follow her passion of mentoring others. Though they're used to a little camera action when they went out, the Paparazzi were really out in droves this time; they seem to be springing up like weeds at this point! Maybe it's time to find a new favorite restaurant: one with a fame restriction?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though work took up most of the day, Ophelia and Lanuola try to steal back some time for themselves by staying up late Halloween night to watch scary movies together. This year's costumes are paired astronaut and space smuggler costumes, which might be a reference to Lanuola's somewhat shady track record in space. As with every year, the end of Halloween brings a close to another year of the Legacy. Ophelia couldn't be happier with all that they've accomplished in year two; now that she's built a firm ground for them to stand upon, she hopes to expand the family in coming year so her Legacy can long outlive her.
[No Next Part yet! Stay tuned!]
