Do we actually need “Animal Rights”?

This idea was initially proposed by Peter Singer in his very famous book and my textbook- "Animal Liberation". The basic idea revolves around the key concept of "specism", just like racism, sexism, etc, specism means to have a preference for one species over another. In our case, we prefer our own species the most. This is a question of Applied Ethics in Philosophy, and as always, rather than giving a direct answer to the question, Philosophy gives multiple approaches to solve this problem.

“No animal should die and suffer in the name of beauty.” Eliminating animal testing should be our goal, as animals are not just samples to show our human privileges; they should be treated with respect and dignity, the way deserve.

What we've seen just now is a stop motion mockumentary animated short film written and directed by Spencer Susser about an interview with Ralph, a rabbit who details his life as an animal testing subject. He is interviewed about his "job," that then he explains that as a result of the chemicals used on his body, he can't see through one of his eyes or hear through one of his ears, and he has a burn on his spine, It hurts all the time: exposing the brutal truth of animal cruelty inside the cosmetics industry. This film shows how: Given the availability of more modern, humane, and effective alternatives, rabbits still are tortured and are frequent victims of animal experimenters.

The use of such rabbits in biomedical and commodity testing is a well-known and long-standing practice. More than 161,000 of them are abused in U.S. laboratories every year due to the notorious Draize eye irritancy test, wherein personal care products, household cleaning products, and their ingredients were being applied to their eyes up to two weeks without any painkillers: frequently resulting redness, swelling, discharge, skin lesions, bleeding internally, or blindness. These abused animals deserve to be treated in accordance with their worth. It is time for us to finally take recognize of the rabbits and advocate for them.

The human-rabbit relationship is a complex one. On one level, these furry and appealing animals are almost universally beloved as symbols of harmlessness, innocence, and cuteness but if they had the ability to talk instead of just scream in painfulness, they would say: “I should be the poster child for animal rights. I am slaughtered for my fur. I am slaughtered for my meat. I am factory farmed in rabbit mills. I am tortured by vivisectors in their ‘labs.’ I am the third most commonly ‘euthanized’ companion animal. I am hunted and snared. I am the object of blood sports. I am often cruelly abused. #SaveRalph is wake-up call for us to realize that animals are still being tortured for cosmetics, and right now is the moment for everyone to band together to ban it in a global level. They have rights, and it is never justified to mistreat and violate them unjustly just because they cannot sue us.

The Dawn of Benevolent Animal Testing

I was nominated today to speak on behalf of the nearly 200 million animals used in laboratory experiments worldwide annually with mice and rats accounting for the vast majority of lab animals. We BALB/c mice are one of the most used types and are laboratory-bred albino house mice. Since the 1920s, we have been bred for disease modeling and gene manipulation, and sold in large quantities, as if we are an impersonal product. Our lives are filled with unspeakable nightmares due to the endless experiments we endure. In addition to its limitations, animal experimentation is immoral and should be banned. We animals can feel pain and experience happiness and have the ability to suffer and enjoy life just like humans do. We should share the same moral status as humans and deserve equal treatment.

It’s time to abandon the horrendous, unethical, and useless animal testing and redirect resources to building up a humane experimentation system.

One of these days my mind will be blown to smithereens with the sheer stress of family and breakdowns, work, single use plastic, not enough self care and cruelty to animals.

What happened to “Fix it don’t just throw it away” - we are all guilty of it.

What happened to the government helping us Mums who want to show our children the world and work part time? - Did they ever support us?

Why aren’t bigger companies ruling out single use plastic? - What the fuck will happen to the whales and turtles!

Why don’t we get a Mindfullness day off work or why don’t we set enough time out to have a rose petal bath and a day of yoga? - why is everyone hooked on their phones? Look up!

Last, but certainly not least... How can people be so cruel and horrific to gorgeous animals? Be it a mouse, a cat, a dog, fish, ducks, chickens, you name the animal, but they are all gorgeous creatures so why do men and women (and possibly children) think it’s okay to be harmful? Teach your children some respect and love! Also, teenagers... Stop wearing makeup brand that still test on animals! Heartless bitches!

I want the world to be lovely and everyone to be loved and less plastic, less broken homes and less animals being abused for a tube of MAC lipstick 🌍
