I've been working on a little fake game strategy guide as an artbook for my little guys. It's going well so far I think.

It wasn’t easy finding this out-of-print book from 2018, but I finally managed to track one down! Red Dead Redemption 2: The Complete Official Guide (Collector's Edition) is a gamer’s indispensable companion to the vast, dangerous, and breathtaking world crafted by Rockstar. With a whopping 384 pages printed on superior-quality art paper, this hardcover puts every event in the game at your fingertips – from the most memorable missions to the rarest chance encounters – so you need never miss a single moment of the story. Throw in a bonus art gallery of all the major characters along with unique biographies and you have an epic tome worthy of any bookshelf! 📕
UPDATE: One of my former students was lucky enough to have Roger Clark – the voice of Arthur Morgan – as their adjunct professor last semester and was able to get this book signed for me! AMAZING!!!

I knew that older games had a tendency to explain everything in their manuals rather than in the games themselves, but I've never seen something like the strategy guide for The Residents' Bad Day on the Midway where they go into an excessive amount of detail about the psychologies of the characters that nobody asked for, but you gotta appreciate the amount of thought that went into it.

The strategy guide also pulls one over the reader by having some reveals that aren't in the game and you would have absolutely no idea about them otherwise. "You know how we told you in the game that this happened? Well actually that was wrong and it actually happened THIS way!" Absolutely diabolical lol. If you're interested at all in the setting and characters of BDOTM, you absolutely MUST read the strategy guide or else you're not getting the full picture. It's incredibly rare, this scan was the only place I could find it, thank you uploader for your service!

With Tears of the Kingdom released, I thought it was around high time I remade some older art of mine. This ended up blowing up into a massive project where I included new designs that I’ve never covered before and more obscure designs from manga and novels.
Made in 2024/2025
If you’ve seen this anywhere else, I posted it back on my deviantArt when it was made.

Arin's favorite properties are the worst in the game. No wonder why he can't win a game of Monopoly to save his life.

Jak 1 japanese guide book! The Jak model on the Japnese jnd disk always looked a little funny, but seeing the model with normal lighting and a more natural pose is actually pretty cute! Man is not beating the Link aligations in this one with that face tho, you can tell Oot came out a few years before, and Japan isnt over it lol.

You ever collect the two blue 3-up balloons in the original DKC? I found out about those maybe in the last year or two and there's no way someone found those without data mining. They're not even in the old strategy guide, or at least not the one I had.
I thiiiiink one of them is at the end of the barrel section in the first snow level, right? And the only way to get it is to complete the barrel section, without using skips, in a very specific time limit, right?
The reason I know it exists is because of the DKC Exposed VHS tape, which teaches you where it is. Tumblr isn't really set up to handle Youtube clips yet, but I've clipped the relevant segment.
I've definitely done it, I just haven't in a while. And I probably wouldn't have known it was there otherwise.
I'm refreshing my memory here and actually there's six blue balloons in DKC1.
youtube
I legitimately never knew there was one right there at the end of the first level. I've never seen that before. Ever.
I've gotten 101% in DKC1 before (and 102% in DKC2) so the bonus room inside of the bonus room is obviously something I've seen before, and is absolutely something you'd never know without reading a guide. And I know I read about it in something, somewhere, eventually. In a Nintendo Power or a Gamepro or something.
The others I must have seen naturally. The two barrel matching bonus rooms are pretty obvious.
