Clash detection is the process of identifying conflicts between different building elements within a design model. These clashes can occur when two or more components occupy the same space, or when their functional requirements conflict. For example, a ductwork system intersecting with a structural beam or a pipe clashing with electrical conduits.

Adventure: Along the Kobold Street
Folk in Eldriton have been complaining about the muddy streets for over a generation, ever since their humble settlement grew from Eldrit village into a proper town. Traffic and merchant wagons churn the streets to mud even days after the rain, and the party notably have to slog through it to reach the inn on their first night.
Imagine everyone's surprise when folk awaken to discover a fresh swath of new cobbles along the town's main thoroughfare, appearing as if my magic in the dead of night. Some are wary but others are perplexedly elated, and the general mood is only further confused when it's discovered that the mayor's manor has been stripped down to it's wooden skeleton while he slept inside it.
Adventure Hooks:
Garbed in only his night shirt and clinging to a third story support beam, the mayor hollers at onlookers, alternating between demands for rescue and threats thrown at those carrying off his furniture and possessions, which have been neatly laid in the street for all to see. The frame of the disassembled manor creeks ominously, threatening collapse, and intercession by the party will likely earn them a significant reward if they don't bring the whole structure down on themselves. Or they could nick some valuables before the guards arrive and make a run for it.
The culprits in this perplexing case turn out to be warren 568, a collective of kobolds who've been moving into the region over the past couple months after their underdark tunnels brought them close enough to the surface to hit sunlight. They've proven themselves to be fine enough neighbours buying up provisions and trading tin with the local craftsmen, but there's an inevitable clash of cultures going on here. The kobolds don't get town people, why their leaders are allowed not to pull their weight and why an inefficiency like the muddy roads was allowed to persist. Then a couple of weeks back a few of their proquirers got to chatting with some market people and they overheard the rumour that the mayor never got around to seeing the roads paved because he was too busy building out his impressive home. "Ah" say the kobolds to themselves, already working out the logistics "we're good neighbours, let us fix that for you."
Days later, an old warehouses collapse in the night and tiny tools are found amid the rubble. The rumormill turns and folk start to whisper that the kobolds are intent on taring down all their houses in their mad act of "generosity". As it turns out, this is a ploy by a few of the local materials merchants to oust the kobolds for undercutting them. They hope to turn the unrest over the manor into active distrust.
Obviously aggrieved, the mayor wants the kobolds gone, and is willing to offer the party a tidy reward to infiltrate their mine and collapse some of the tunnels, bodycount be damned. If they keep to their principles and abstain from this bloodmoney they'll eventually be called in by the local reeve, apparently the mayor found bigger idiots with less scruples and she wants the party to find them before they instigate a massacre.
If the worse comes to pass and the mine collapses, the party may find themselves trapped in the underadark with some very distraught kobolds and no obvious way back to the surface.
Finally, if you're running with a new group of players or starting a fresh campaign consider using Eldriton as your "first town", a stopoff after the tutorial dungeon where the heroes were perhaps sent on a mission from the reeve so they can know her ahead of time. This adventure is pretty low stakes but offers a lot of opportunities for the group to decide who they are, be it opportunistic thieves, armature detectives, callous sellswords, or agents of order.

KJ Charles has breathtaking range. And it's all so organically diverse and vivid and excellently paced and clever.
Doomsday books -- Smugglers of Romney Marsh in 1810–20s in the wake of the Napoleonic Wars.
Society of Gentlemen -- Clash between the royalist establishment and radical republicans in the last years of Regency.
Sins of the Cities -- Small businesses and trade of the Industrial Revolution in London's immigrant quarter (taxidermy of all things!), Victorian spiritualists and musical hall artists in the 1870s.
Lillywhite Boys -- London criminal underworld, bluestocking feminists, private detectives, colonial gem trade, the rise of industrialists in the 1890s, and pre-Victorian folk Christmas traditions.
Charm of Magpies -- Shanghai traders and Chinese immigrant communities of London in the late 1800s.
England World -- Nascent British intelligence agencies and new technology in the shadow of the Boer War in the 1890s + integration of Indian nobles from its last kingdoms with elite British society + classism and xenophobia in British antisemitism
Will Darling Adventures -- The reverberating social, political and economic changes from the aftermath of WWI and further development of intelligence organisations during the 1920s.
Just finished Band Sinister, which touched on Hellfire Clubs, the emergence of new medicine, atheism, and challenge Creationism from the fields of natural science, and Black British life before abolition. Currently reading Unfit to Print, which seems to be about London's underground pornography trade with character focus on the shared plight of Black and Indian immigrants from the colonies and their mixed race offspring. Charles's body of work really brings home that the 19th century was a full hundred years long and the distinct character of every decade. And that the real and authentic history of Britain had people of every race, religion, colour, disability, neurodiversity, gender and sexuality who have been deliberately erased by the same power structures that kept them disenfranchised and ghettoed back then.

I've been thinking about possible hankcon AUs I've never actually seen... Just imagine
Noir Detective AU
Connor as a young, brilliant but uptight federal agent. Hank as a grizzled, burned-out detective who doesn’t want a partner.
They’re forced to work together on a case neither of them wants. Their clashing worldviews make everything harder, until the case breaks open and so does their emotional distance. Classic “enemies to reluctant partners to… maybe something else.”
Fantasy AU
Connor as a scholar, mage apprentice, or monastery scribe with rigid discipline. Hank as a fallen knight, exiled warrior, or mercenary with a drinking problem.
They’re sent on a quest together, maybe to defeat an ancient curse, guard a village, or find a missing artifact. Connor wants structure. Hank wants everyone to leave him alone. Cue arguments, slow trust, and long nights by firelight.
Dark Medieval AU
Connor as a monster hunter, emotionally detached, trained for efficiency. Hank as an herbalist, woodsman, or ex-soldier who understands people, not magic.
They travel together to stop dark creatures, cults, and political rot. Connor is quiet. Hank is blunt. Their growing bond becomes a question of who protects whom, and what makes someone human.
(it could be vice versa as well. Hank as a monster hunter, Connor as a herbalist etc. which fits them even more)
Mafia/Narcotics AU
Connor as an undercover cop working inside a crime syndicate. Hank as a disgraced former detective who knows how the system really works.
Connor is told to find dirt on Hank. But the more they interact, the more he realizes Hank isn’t corrupt, just broken. Dangerous secrets, moral gray areas, and blurred lines follow.
Academic AU
Hank as a university professor (literature, philosophy, criminology etc.) Connor as a grad student or research assistant with a spotless academic record and zero social ease.
They work on a project together, forced into the same orbit. Their connection isn’t some cliché “hot for teacher” thing, it’s two people, both isolated in different ways, learning how to connect.
Corporate Thriller AU
Connor as a cybersecurity analyst or forensic accountant. Hank as an internal investigator or ex-hacker turned security consultant (or something that just fits him more).
Together, they uncover corporate espionage or AI-related corruption. Cold efficiency meets jaded intuition. Mutual frustration turns into mutual respect.
Post-Apocalyptic AU
Connor as a medic, mechanic, or survivalist — calm and precise. Hank as a former cop, now one of the few who can keep people together.
They survive together, in a train convoy, forest outpost, or walled city. It’s not about dramatic declarations. It’s about sharing food, fixing things, and staying human in a broken world.
Historical AU (1940s–1970s)
Hank as a hardboiled PI. Connor as a government lawyer, war veteran, or journalist.
They team up on a case that exposes systemic injustice and in the process, confront their own alienation. Queer-coded, quiet, full of unsaid things and cigarette smoke.
Sci-Fi AU (but no androids)
Connor as a genetically engineered human, not artificial, but grown for perfection. Hank as military or intelligence assigned to monitor him.
Connor struggles with identity, not programming. Hank sees a person when others see an asset. Their bond builds not on rebellion, but choice and learning what “being human” really means.
And of course, they fall in love with each other in each of these AUs and live happily ever after! Or... at leas quite happily.

A More Developed SandWing Succession War
One might wonder how the hell did the succession war of arc 1 lasted so long, if the effects felt by the tribes were an apparent slight war fatigue, not a massive deterioration of bodies and minds, environment, the spread of diseases and widespread famine.
So yours' truly is here to save the day once more with a more eventful sandwing succession war.
4993 AS:
The succession war had officially begun with the Battle of the Diamond Spray, a daring offensive of Burn, supported by the SkyWings swiftly conquered one of the most populated regions of Pyrrhia, forcing conscription into them.
The Diamond Spray, source of one of the most fertile lands of Pyrrhia was a major food breadbasket which whoever controlled, controlled who would eat and who wouldn’t through most of Eastern Pyrrhia. The relevance of the region majorly decreased through the war, as battle after battle scorched the land and turned it into a no dragon’s land.
Burn had promised the Diamond Spray to Scarlet as a compromise for their centuries-long rivalry of the Great Five-Tails river, she however, cares not about how degraded the land gets once it was handed to Scarlet.
4994 AS:
Sky Palace Conference; Burn and Scarlet met to discuss their victory at the Diamond Spray, Scarlet demands the immediate transfer of any "rebellious" individuals to her arena.
4995 AS:
Second Battle of the Diamond Spray; Burn’s forces retreat from the delta by a MudWing-SeaWing offensive, particularly successful thanks to a young officer’s daring tactic of hit-and-fly, Tempest. It was the only major battle fought by Blister’s allies together.
4996 AS:
The construction of Blaze's fortress near the Great Ice Cliff is completed, the large complex is filled with IceWings but Blaze and a few SandWing servants. Later that year, Burn's scouts would find it and the first skirmishes would begin.
4997 AS:
An unofficial truce would be declared after the catastrophic battles of the diamond spray. Never in Pyrrhian history had such massive forces, two thousand on Burn's side and four thousand on Blister's, clash against each other with so much violence and logistics needed to equip and feed them.
The hopes the war would end soon were not yet a deluded idea, and commanders constantly prepared the next 'big offensives' that would end the war.
4998 AS:
A piercing projectile dropped by the SkyWings in Blaze's fortress breached the outer layers of the structure nearly 8 meters deep. Glacier meets with her staff, and structural flaws are detected through all the fortress, fruit of its incredibly rushed construction and some IceWing superiority belief they could "cut some losses" by not caring much.
4999 AS:
Burn's reinforced stronghold was completed, the outer layers are thickened by nearly 10 meters, and field tests with the now infamous SkyWing ballistic projectiles caused virtually no damage to the structure.
5000 AS:
First NightWing Island Eruption; caused the Great Famine in the next year, temperatures dropped, crops failed, cattle died in mass, starvation followed most of Pyrrhia, with the exception of IceWings, RainWings and SeaWings.
Despite the call for a general truce, the SeaWings pressed the attack as Blister wished resulting in a bloodbath against starved soldiers of Burn and Scarlet, who fought particularly vicious. Stories of cannibalism were not uncommon.
Afraid of the situation in the East, Glacier approves only probing attacks in Burn’s strongholds.
5001 AS:
Morrowseer and Battlewinner come up with the Dragonet Prophecy. They begin a slow campaign to spread it among the tribes, promoting peace especially after the particular cannibalistic party done by SandWings and SkyWings at the Diamond Spray delta.
5002 AS:
Blister’s Gamble Offensive begins. In the succession of several months, the SeaWings under the now promoted commander Tempest beat Burn battle after battle from the Diamond Spray River to the Claws of the Clouds Mountains, quickly reaching SandWing border. Their MudWing ally launches a support offensive north, to halt a SkyWing counter-attack in their flank, but suffer large casualties and mass desertions.
While watching from afar, Queen Glacier cancels her own offensive operations against Burn, fearing the entire continent will fall to Blister within a year. She rather leave both sides bleed out before taking any decisive actions, but this forms a rift between she and her commanders that will only grow within the decade.
5003 AS:
During a yearly meeting of Blister's Grand Alliance, disgruntled MudWing soldiers, furious for their siblings to continuously die pointlessly at the battles in the north, revolt and assassinate Tempest, causing the alliance to break apart, as SeaWings and MudWings threaten and attack each other openly.
Several weeks later, Burn and Moorhen met, solidifying their alliance, despite SkyWings and MudWings high tensions, the historical allies fight more gladly against the SeaWings.
5004 AS:
After much scouting through the Bay of a Thousand Scales, Scarlet's forces finally identify what they believe to be the Summer Palace, built underneath a fake island, its added natural earth protection is more resistant to the first ballistic projectiles dropped by the SkyWing than Burn's stronghold is.
5005 AS:
Brightest Night happens. The Dragonets of Destiny have hatched, with exception of the SkyWing egg, killed by Burn. Scarlet has all the SkyWing eggs in the hatchery destroyed, claiming to have flawlessly detected that by some curse of the Moons, they were all either animus or firescales, calming her subjects. Secretly, she saves one dragonet, Peril, from death to become her new weapon.
5007 AS:
After a long recovery and with two other tribes on her side, Burn begins major offensives against both the SeaWings and IceWings. The battles of the summer palace and Blaze's fortress happen almost simultaneously, after huge casualties, neither side could claim victory, but Burn's forces had to retreat to their original positions.
After acting as an officer during the battle for Blaze's fortress, Hailstorm reached the first circle for his bravery in its defense.
5009 AS:
After losing a daughter to a mysterious assassin, the Deep Palace enters in crisis as Coral murders her way through each guard who fails to protect her daughters. She protects her next egg herself, and king Gill is sent the surface and takes charge of the defenses of the Summer Palace.
5010 AS:
The Second Battle of the Summer Palace, Scarlet's forces breach through the first underwater ambush belt of the SeaWing defenses, king Gill is captured amidst the confusion as the SeaWings retreated deeper to their positions, nearing the palace.
This is the last year Burn's forces are seem in the Scorpion Den, as more and more are called back to feed the meatgrinder of the north against the IceWings. Crime and lawlessness begins to creep the town, a similar situation is seem among outer settlements through all the Sand Queendom. The Outclaws leave underground and begin to openly occupy the den.
5011 AS:
As this year the books begin, I intend to tell it more narratively in my rewriting of arc 1, as right now, events stop being told as history of what happened so far, and more what the characters are living through.

How Do You Maintain the Color of Residential Metal Roofing?
Maintaining the vibrant color of your residential metal roofing can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! You want your home to look its best, and the roof plays a key role in that curb appeal. Whether your roof is newly installed or a few years old, keeping it fresh and beautiful is achievable with simple care tips. In this guide, you’ll discover how to preserve the color of your metal roof and extend its life by following easy maintenance techniques.
Understanding Residential Metal Roofing
Before diving into maintenance, let’s briefly discuss what residential metal roofing is. These roofs are made from various metals, such as steel, aluminum, and copper, which offer durability and longevity. They are available in multiple colors and finishes, allowing homeowners to choose a style that complements their property. Because they are exposed to the elements, proper care is essential to maintain their appearance and functionality.
Regular Cleaning: The First Step to Color Maintenance
Regular cleaning is one of the best ways to maintain the color of your residential metal roofing. Over time, dirt, debris, and organic materials can accumulate on the surface, leading to discoloration and degradation.
Cleaning Frequency
Aim to clean your roof at least twice a year. In addition to routine cleanings, consider inspecting it after significant storms or if you notice any discoloration.
Cleaning Techniques
Gentle Approach: To remove dirt and debris, use a soft-bristle brush or a low-pressure power washer. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can scratch and damage the paint finish.
Focus on Problem Areas: Pay special attention to areas prone to moss, algae, or tree sap. These spots can hold moisture and lead to more significant issues if not addressed promptly.
Inspecting for Damage: A Key Component of Maintenance
Regular inspections can help you catch potential issues before they escalate. Here are some tips for inspecting your residential metal roofing:
What to Look For
Rust Spots: Check for any signs of rust, particularly around seams and fasteners. Early detection can prevent larger problems later.
Paint Peeling or Fading: Look for areas where the paint is peeling or losing its luster. These areas may need touch-ups or a complete repaint.
Structural Integrity: Check for loose panels or signs of wear that could compromise the integrity of your roof.
Addressing Issues: Repair or Repaint?
Consider repairing or repainting your residential metal roofing if you notice any damage or discoloration during your inspections.
Minor Repairs
Small rust spots or peeling paint can often be addressed without a full repaint. Use touch-up paint designed for metal roofs and follow the manufacturer’s application instructions.
Full Repainting
A full repaint may be the best option if your roof is significantly faded or damaged. Here are some steps to consider before repainting:
Wait for the Right Time: If you’ve recently installed your roof, allow it to weather for about six months to ensure better paint adhesion.
Choose the Right Paint: Select specially formulated reflective paints for metal roofs to enhance energy efficiency and prolong color retention.
Choosing the Right Color for Your Residential Metal Roofing
If you’re thinking about a new color for your roof, it’s essential to choose wisely. Here are some tips:
Know Your Options
Metal roofs come in a wide array of colors. While traditional colors like gray and black remain popular, don’t shy away from vibrant hues like colonial red or deep blue.
Consider Your Home’s Style
Think about your home's architectural style. A bright color may work well in a modern design but could clash with a more traditional aesthetic.
Check HOA Guidelines
If you live, check for guidelines in a neighborhood with a homeowner's association; checking can prevent potential headaches later.
The Impact of Weather on Your Metal Roof
Weather plays a significant role in the longevity and appearance of your residential metal roofing. Here are a few factors to consider:
Sun Exposure
Constant sun exposure can lead to fading over time. If your home gets a lot of sun, consider using reflective paint to reduce heat absorption and prolong the color’s vibrancy.
Rain and Moisture
Heavy rain and moisture can cause rust and mildew. Ensure your gutters are properly clean and functioning to divert water from your roof.
Snow and Ice
Snow and ice can accumulate on a roof in colder climates. Removing heavy snow loads can help prevent structural issues and keep the roof looking fresh.
Enhancing Energy Efficiency with Your Roof Color
Did you know that your residential metal roofing color can influence your home’s energy efficiency? Choosing lighter colors can help reflect sunlight, keeping your home cooler during hot months. On the other hand, darker colors may absorb heat, which can be beneficial in colder climates.
Preserve Your Roof’s Beauty and Durability
Maintaining the color and integrity of your residential metal roofing doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By following these simple maintenance tips, you can ensure your roof looks great for years. Interested in exploring energy-efficient roofing solutions? Visit Lastime Exteriors today to learn about our services and how we can help you elevate your home’s curb appeal!
By taking proactive steps to care for your residential metal roofing, you can enjoy its beauty and durability for many years. Regular cleaning, inspections, and timely repairs will allow you to maintain the color and integrity of your roof, ensuring your home remains a stunning sight for everyone who passes by. Don’t forget to choose the right color and consider the local climate when deciding about your roofing. Happy roofing maintenance!

In my criticisms of S2 and S3 of Mando and TBoBF, one of my complaints is with the scripts and stories themselves, and characters who could have been utilized better
I loved Carson Teva in “The Passenger,” but the dialogue and role they give him in “The Siege” could have been done better (like my suggestion here), and his encounter with Mando in TBoBF and the episodes he has in season 3 don’t feel like professional, meaningful dialogue or character structuring. Part of that is the bad writing and storytelling of whatever they were setting up in season 3, but his character in those seasons also sounds more like an actor reciting lines, not a fleshed out character. I don’t feel any reason to listen to this guy because he’s not grounded or weighty. It doesn’t feel like I or the characters should have to listen to what he has to say because there’s no meat to him. I’m not a fan of him being the Nick fury-esque connecting thread between these shows either but that’s a separate complaint.
And the thing is, I don’t think it’s the actor’s fault. I haven’t seen him in anything else, but this script and the direction is bad enough on its own I can tell those are the main problems. Teva could have been a really good lawman to balance out the rest of these people operating outside of the law! He could have been the more straight-laced white hat sheriff archetype you see in westerns, but lawful good characters don’t have to be boring, especially if you make them this grizzled old sheriff who’s lived and experienced loss for decades fighting the good fight and still come out kind on the other side. I would have liked to see a more weathered cowboy/ranger/marshal who’s still just as sharp, analytical, and observant as he was as a younger man, quick on the draw and two steps ahead of the people around him, younger officers and criminals and people like Mando realizing that just because he’s quiet, it doesn’t mean the gears aren’t turning. Make him an echo of Mando, somebody Din might have been if he’d been given different circumstances in life. The old wizened sheriff vs the lone gunslinger bounty hunter. They’re not on opposite sides, they just have different means of achieving similar goals, and because they’re too similar in personality and because their paths are too different from one another, they end up clashing by virtue of circumstance, not necessarily because they dislike one another
Right now there isn’t really a lot we get of Teva and it makes him feel shallow and uninteresting. Even small characters should feel like a person with a history. Make him a war veteran, but make him a survivor of Alderaan too. Make him the sheriff and detective people underestimate because he’s quiet and unassuming and uses his place in the background to observe and gather all of the information before being able to step forward with accusations and answers that confirm the suspicions and hunches he’s been following up to that point. Have people floundering when they realize they’ve been caught with nowhere to run. He never draws first when he draws first blood— He’s the guy who ends fights, and often ends them before they even begin. All it takes is him clapping a hand on someone’s shoulder for them to realize they’ve stepped out of line, or they’re in a lot more trouble than they realized. He doesn’t raise his voice because he doesn’t have to— People listen when he talks, a commanding presence that tells you he wouldn’t be saying something if it weren’t worth the time it takes to say it. Show me this guy has a history, show me that he knows the meaning of loss, and show me how deeply he cares for people and wants to see them safe.
All of that would make for a more compelling character in the midst of these antiheroes and gunslingers. These shows didn’t have to set up the sequel movies or the circumstances of the New Republic or how the Empire was able to linger for as long as it did after the war. They could have just focused on the regular people on the ground, living and surviving in trying times.

Better Than Revenge | Chapter 9
Title: Better Than Revenge Summary: Karma Inc.’s business structure is simple - clients hire them when they’ve been grievously wronged and they send one of their revenge mercenaries to right them. As painstaking as their efforts to remain ethical may be, that may be tested when former detective, Rosé, enlists the squad to pick up where she couldn’t on a much higher scale, with potentially greater consequences. Word Count: ~2.7k (this chapter) | ~23.6k (total) Relationship(s): Rosnali (Rosé/Denali Foxx), Jankie (Jackie Cox/Jan Sport), Halldoll (Nicky Doll/Jaida Essence Hall), Gimone (Gigi Goode/Symone), Gottlux (Gottmik/Olivia Lux) Rating: E
Read on AO3 | Ko-Fi
“Why are you laughing at me?” Gigi crossed her arms and pouted as she watched Symone snicker via her reflection in the tri-panel mirror.
“Because you’re trying so hard to act like you don’t care about this wedding planning and stuff. You’re picking out the dress you’re gonna walk down the aisle in. You’re allowed to be excited,” she replied, adding, “It’s not embarrassing to have emotions.”
“I’m not acting like I don’t care, it’s the opposite!” She insisted, “The dress has to be perfect, I’m paying excruciating attention to detail, and you should be too. What if our dresses clash?”
Symone blinked. “Now how the fuck does white clash with white?”
“Patterns! Textures! Look at the bigger picture – the pictures!”
She looked between the two women on either side of her – Crystal on her left and Lala on her right. “Is it me? Am I missing something?” As much as she loves her fiancée, she could never quite figure out how her mind works.
Crystal shook her head. “No, she’s always been like this. It was nothing short of a miracle that she didn’t want to go to prom, I can only imagine it would’ve been foreshadowing to…” she gestured in Gigi’s direction, “all of that.”
Gigi had tuned them out at that point, deciding to change into another dress, her sixth, for anyone who was still counting.
“Didn’t you tell me she was a whole-ass seamstress?” Lala asked her sister. “Why don’t she just make her dress? At this rate, it’ll probably be faster.”
Symone tilted her head. “You might be onto something,” she conceded. When Gigi returned in another dress she was already nitpicking, she suggested, “Why don’t you and your mom make the dress instead?”
She pursed her lips as if she were trying to find an argument, something to justify why they had spent the last two hours here. “I suppose it’s an avenue worth exploring.”
Just as Symone was about to bask in relief and satisfaction, she looked down at her phone to see a text from Jackie. “Well, you’re gonna have to explore it later. We have to get to the office, sounds urgent.”
The air in the office was thick with tension. None of the group wanted to be the one to break the silence and ask why a meeting was being called so suddenly. This was out of the ordinary – Jackie was a planner, meetings were found on the calendar a month in advance, complete with an agenda. She wasn’t alone, either – Jaida was on her left and Rosé on her right. They all stood as stone-faced as possible, though Rosé was actively avoiding eye contact with Denali.
Fortunately, Jaida was able to sense that the other two did not want to be the ones to start the meeting, so she took one for the team. “The case Denali and Rosé went on the road for runs a lot deeper than we thought. More people are involved, more is at stake, and it’s gonna be more dangerous, so I’m gonna get all of y’all into more training.”
Mik raised his hand. “What do you mean by ‘more dangerous’? We’re already literally killing people.”
“Dangerous as in make sure you have a will written up and a next-of-kin established. Dangerous as in Jan’s ‘alleged’ mob connections might not even be enough to save us,” Rosé replied somberly. “Look, I know this sounds like some Law and Order: SVU shit, but we essentially fell headfirst into uncovering a sex-trafficking ring.”
Nicky let out a groan mixed with frustration and distress, hunching forward and pinching the bridge of her nose. “Ma mère avait raison, j'aurais dû rester en France. Je vais mourir ici.”
“You’re not going back to France,” Jaida replied, as that was the only word she picked out of the phrase. “Listen, we have reason to suspect they’re onto us… Well, they’re onto the fact that someone is onto them. We don’t know what they have on us. But the point is, they know they have to get out of New York and they’re gonna start working fast, so we have to be faster.”
“I think I’m gonna be sick,” Jan mumbled, then promptly got up and ran down the hall with Jackie on her tail.
This time, the mounting silence was interrupted by Nicky. “Are we going to address the elephant in the zoo, then?”
“Elephant in the room,” Denali corrected, getting up nearly as quickly as Jan did. “And no, we are not,” she added pointedly. “I have to go to physical therapy… then regular therapy… then I’m gonna go home and get super high. No one call me unless I get to shoot something.”
Nobody had a chance to respond before Denali was out of the room, leading all remaining eyes to shift to Rosé.
Rosé felt everyone’s gazes burning into her and she knew she couldn’t feign ignorance. After she and Denali slept together, she all but ghosted her as much as one could while remaining in a professional capacity. It wasn’t intentional – at least, she didn’t think it was. But she felt the judgment from her coworkers despite her stubbornness preventing her from acknowledging any wrongdoing. “So… does anyone have any questions?” She rolled her eyes when everyone’s hands shot up. “Does anyone have any questions about the case?”
Everyone’s hands immediately dropped.
“Nosy cunts, all of you,” she muttered. “Meeting adjourned, I’m out.”
Denali groaned when she heard a knock at the door, taking the last hit off her pipe and setting it down before opening it, then rolled her eyes. “If you’re here to say ‘I told you so’, save it. I don’t wanna deal with your bullshit, too.”
Jaida shook her head as she let herself in. “No bullshit, just here to talk, since I’m the only one that got both sides of the story.” She sat down on the couch and waited for her to join. “Listen, Rosé is in some deep fucking denial right now. We all know that what went down in that hotel room was more than just some heat of the moment release of sexual tension.”
“So, what am I supposed to do?” She asked as she packed a fresh bowl, lighting it and taking a hit before passing it over. “I can’t even get her to look at me. I’m not saying I thought we were gonna ride off into the sunset together, but I was hoping for something, you know?”
“I wish I knew what to tell you,” she sighed, taking a hit and hoping in vain that an answer would come with the exhale. “I’ve done my best to knock some sense into her, but at some point, it turns into arguing with an angry, Scottish wall.”
While the visual elicited a small laugh from Denali, it didn’t make the predicament any easier to bear. “The way she was with me in the hospital… I don’t know, I thought I meant something to her.”
“You do,” Jaida replied with a certainty that caught Denali by surprise. “That’s why she’s being so damn stupid, she don’t know how to handle her feelings for you, so, she’s pushing you away to make it easier.”
Denali sighed as she took a final hit from the bowl before setting it down. “I guess I can take some sort of solace in that, it not being my fault.”
“You didn’t think it was your fault, did you?”
“No, but it’s nice to hear it from an outside source,” she admitted, then looked at her, “what should I do now?”
“Have you considered getting laid by…  literally anyone else?”
“I haven’t ruled it out.”
“We need to do something about the Rosé and Denali situation,” Mik remarked, “those two are our strongest members and they’ve been totally off their game.”
Olivia nodded the best she could while lying with her head in his lap. “Have you guys considered recruiting? Maybe having another pair or two of hands on deck will make dividing the workload easier,” she suggested.
He tilted his head in thought, aimlessly twirling his fingers through her curls. “That’s not a bad idea,” he mused. “No idea how you go about that though. Dark web? Craigslist? Does anyone even use Craigslist anymore?”
“Right, we can’t exactly go around posting help wanted ads,” she conceded. “Maybe Jaida knows some people from her army days.” With her phone already in hand, she texted her about the idea.
Jaida: Listen, I can find people if you need people, but you guys gotta make sure the whole group is on board. Olivia: Mik said he’ll bring it up at the next meeting. Jaida: I’ll see what I can do.
“At least we know it’s doable,” Olivia offered, “Do you think the girls will agree to it?”
“Only one way to find out.”
When the next meeting came around, Mik was fidgeting with anxiety as everyone filed in and took their seats. “Hey, um, before we dive into things, can I have the floor for a minute?” After he received several nods in response, he took out a folder from his bag, set it on the table, and opened it to the page he’d typed out the night before. “So, um, given… everything that’s happened lately, I think it would be beneficial for us as a group to consider adding a few new team members.”
The suggestion received mixed reactions, the women murmuring amongst each other before Symone spoke up, “Are you sure now is the best time to recruit considering how severe the situation is?”
“I’ve been talking to Jaida about it, we’d only be taking whoever she recommends, especially since they’re former military or military-adjacent. And she suggested we start them off with the types of cases we used to do,” Mik explained.
“I think he’s onto something,” Jackie chimed in, “we’ve all taken on emotionally taxing work and spreading ourselves thin, maybe having another person or two to share the load would make things easier.”
“Okay,” he clapped his hands together. “All in favor of recruiting for the squad?” With everyone’s hand going up in response, he sent a text to Jaida, telling her to move ahead with the plan.
Rosé sat with her arms crossed as Jaida drove them to the airport. “I still don’t think this is necessary,” she muttered.
“Yeah, no shit,” Jaida scoffed. “That would require you to not be in denial about your situation with Denali. And so help me god, if you say nothing’s going on again, I will drive this car off the highway.”
“Tempting.” After a few minutes of tense silence, she asked, “So these are both girls you know from the military?”
She shook her head. “Anetra was on base with me, but her sister, Mirage was on the other side of things. Long story short, she was one of the leaders of a gambling ring in Vegas. They weren’t under suspicion or anything, but she had a gut feeling it wouldn’t end well, so she bailed.”
“Did anyone get caught?”
“Eventually, the other ringleader did and the whole operation crumbled. But to their credit, they didn’t snitch and the case has been closed for almost a year.”
Rosé pursed her lips and nodded. Despite her resistance to having the recruits, she couldn’t deny that Jaida had picked well. And she had to admit, two sisters with vastly different career paths now fighting for the same cause fascinated her. “I guess it’s worth seeing what they’re about.”
When they arrived at the airport, Rosé wasn’t any more thrilled, but she had concluded that this was what was best for the team. So, she put on a grin and helped the women load their luggage into the trunk. “Welcome to New York, ladies,” she remarked as they all got back into the car. “Is this your first time?”
“It is for Anetra, but I traveled a lot for ‘work’ and it brought me here a few times,” Mirage answered for both of them, noting that jetlag was hitting her older sister hard, as she was barely keeping her eyes open. “You said the roommate situation was sorted, right?” she asked Jaida.
She nodded. “Yeah, leave it to Jan to ‘know a guy’ whose niece was looking to move out anyway and struck a good deal on renting the extra rooms of the apartment he bought her.”
“Buying a three-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn? In this economy? Is he in the mob or something?” Mirage asked, only to notice the way Jaida and Rosé hesitantly looked at each other and blinked in surprise. “You know what? I’m not gonna question it. I don’t wanna wake up with a horse head in my bed.”
“The fewer questions you ask, the better. You know how it goes,” Jaida confirmed. It didn’t take long after that for them to pull into the parking garage of the apartment complex and gather their things to go upstairs, the apartment being on the third floor of a seven-floor building.
“Xunami!” Rosé called out, “We’re dropping off your roommates, come make nice!”
Xunami scoffed as she emerged from her room. “I’m always nice, how very dare you?” She turned her attention to Anetra and Mirage, though her gaze seemed to linger on the latter. “Pleasure to meet you,” she greeted, extending her hand.
While Anetra offered a sleepy greeting before excusing herself to her room to unceremoniously pass out, Mirage took her hand and batted her lashes. “Pleasure’s all mine.”
Jaida sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of her nose. “Okay, I’m out. I’ll see y’all at the next training session.” As she left, she muttered under her breath, “I swear to god, the next one better be fucking asexual.”
After missing the last couple of meetings, Rosé arrived at the office with Anetra and Mirage in tow. “Gather ‘round, everyone. I’m gonna introduce y’all to our newest recruits – Anetra and Mirage Amuro. For the love of god, please be normal to them.”
“You’re a little late in the game to make unreasonable demands of us,” Gigi chuckled as she and the rest of the group introduced themselves, collectively deciding to take the rest of the morning to let everyone talk and get to know each other.
“You’re a blackbelt?” Denali asked Anetra with wide, bright eyes. “So am I, I haven’t met another woman with one in years.”
Anetra chuckled, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Guess we’re a rare breed, what can I say? I’m glad, though, I didn’t think anyone was gonna be able to keep up with me.”
She arched her brow with an amused smirk. “Oh, she’s cocky too, huh? Though I guess with your resumé it’s not unfounded.”
Mik was within earshot of them, tilting his head in interest. “Huh,” he remarked, “Looks like we might kill two birds with one stone.” While Symone nodded in agreement, the two turned their heads when they heard disgruntled mumbling behind them and turned to see Rosé pouting with her eyes trained on Anetra.
“What’s your damage?” Symone asked. “Isn’t this what you wanted? Denali won’t hold what happened over you if she ends up under someone else.” Of course, it didn’t take an expert to see what was causing that reaction. “Did all that just to make yourself jealous, huh?”
“This wasn’t even my idea,” Rosé rolled her eyes. “Whatever or whoever she does is none of my business. I just don’t think it’s a wise thing to pursue, all things considered.”
“One of those things being the torch you’re carrying for her,” Mik chimed in.
She shook her head as she sipped her coffee. “Even if I was, it wouldn’t be right to act on it. She already got hurt physically on my watch. The best thing I can do is leave her alone.” She knew Mik and Symone weren’t convinced, she was barely convincing herself.

[AU/verse] Isekai: BSD
Tumblr media
When Tsukishima awakens in the city of Yokohama, he would have no immediate answers about what happened or where he was. The fragmentation between his memories of his past life and this new world would create an ongoing layer of mystery for him. He knows he died after succumbing to his injuries, but instead of turning up in the Seireitei, or even Hell, he finds himself in an entirely different place and reality. Initially, he would likely think he's trapped in some kind of dream, or perhaps he's under someone's power -- something similar to his own ability, or being made to think he's somewhere different than he really is. However, his first impulse, as always, would be to observe—learn the rules, understand the structure of this new world, and see what, if any, advantages it offers him.
Firstly, Tsukishima would try to figure out the workings of Yokohama, quietly and carefully examining the power dynamics involved there, from the sidelines for a bit—all while remaining indifferent to each faction's goals. His natural cynicism and disregard for lofty ideals would make him a wild card that none of the factions could truly appeal to or actively exploit. At first, he'd probably avoid engaging too directly with any of them, but his presence and general unpredictability would no doubt soon attract attention, whether he actively sought it or not, and become a figure impossible to ignore.
The Armed Detective Agency To the ADA, Tsukishima would probably be nothing short of a massive headache. As an outsider who isn’t constrained by any particular moral inclinations, he would actively challenge their sense of order, more often than not probably standing in opposition to their overall ideals and attempts at bringing justice. The ADA, as a whole, might be intrigued by his ability to alter the past with his Fullbring, especially considering its potential to manipulate reality and the fact that he generally chooses to use this ability for his own (often cruel) amusement at the expense of others. Book of the End's power that allows Tsukishima to rewrite the past by creating entirely separate timelines, could cause massive amounts of chaos and confusion. Alternatively, the agency might even consider trying to recruit him, seeing his power as a potential asset in their ongoing battles, but Tsukishima, being someone that neither seeks to help nor harm in any definitive way—only to pursue whatever entertains him most, would be unlikely to hold any interest in that idea and see nothing to gain from it.
The Port Mafia Meanwhile, the Port Mafia would probably take a very different approach. As a non-aligned outsider, Tsukishima’s disregard for their authority over the criminal underworld would most likely make him a target for their contempt. The Mafia might see him as an insult to their power structure, and Tsukishima’s complete lack of interest in their hierarchy and unwillingness to join their ranks, and submit himself to being commanded, would surely be infuriating to the organization. The Port Mafia’s views on territory and turf would clash with Tsukishima’s independent nature, possibly leading to confrontation. Moreover, Tsukishima wouldn’t hesitate to undermine their operations simply for his own amusement, though never with any grand scheme in mind as he has no real interest in the pursuit of power of supremacy of any kind.
The Government (Special Division) The government and its Special Division department would possibly see Tsukishima as both a valuable asset and a potential threat. His Fullbring, Book of the End, would be of significant interest to them, making him a prime candidate for study and containment. They might be inclined to trying to detain him for experiments, hoping to understand the limits of his powers, deeming them too dangerous to be allowed to roam free unchecked. However, if they tried to keep him confined, they would find themselves in a constant power struggle, as Tsukishima is well-equipped to escape or subvert their attempts to control him, possibly by exploiting their own systems against them. Their interest in his ability might even lead them to offer him a deal, with the promise of answers regarding his current isekai situation, but Tsukishima would likely respond to this with skepticism and dismissive humor, as he isn't one to trust in or rely on others for answers.
The Guild and The Decay of the Angels The Guild and the DotA, conversely, might take a strategic interest in Tsukishima for a similar reason: his Fullbring - the ability to alter the past and rewrite it to fit the narrative of Tsukishima's choice, is an incredibly powerful tool, one that could shift the balance of power if used properly. Tsukishima’s powers would be especially enticing to both organizations, as it aligns closely with their desires to gain control of the reality-altering book hidden in the city. The Guild might view Tsukishima as a valuable asset in gaining the advantage to obtaining the book, and might attempt to lure him in with offers of power, wealth, or a purpose --attempting to manipulate his apparent detachment and selfishness into something more useful for their own goals. However, most likely, Tsukishima would easily see through their ruses and into their need to control and dominate him, and be put off. The DotA might have similar interests, and approach him in an attempt to recruit him (albeit probably just hoping to utilize him as a tool) or even just try to force him into their service, as Tsukishima would have no interest in their lofty goals and doubtfully be cooperative in any way.
After all, if Tsukishima were to actually ever bother with aligning himself to any particular faction, it would only be on his own terms— and only if it entertained him. Still, its hard to imagine that Tsukishima could ever fully align himself to a particular cause or group in his new setting, given that his motivations are primarily selfish and personal by comparison— he's far more interested in testing the world and seeing how far he can push others without ever truly caring about the outcome.
In this isekai story, his primary goals would be to understand why/how he’s here, how to return home (if that's even possible), and what rules apply in this new world. Along the way, his interactions with the various factions would surely be a constant source of chaos, pushing their boundaries and revealing the cracks in their respective power structures. In this way, Tsukishima’s greatest conflict probably wouldn't be with any one faction or individual, but rather with his own desire for entertainment versus the chaos he ends up causing by toying with the people around him. His journey through Yokohama would be one of survival and amusement, where nothing is sacred, and everyone would surely come to know the wildcard that is Tsukishima.
