RWRB: Prince Henry = Princess Diana
If someone were to compare Henry to an irl royalty, many would immediately say Prince Harry. In that Variety interview with Nick, even the interviewer asked Nick if Henry was a gay version of Harry. And the association is understandable, the clearest similarity being falling for an American, and being the spare.
But hear me out.
I think Henry's counterpart is actually Princess Diana.
I went to visit my high school two weeks ago and had a chat with my best friend (a budding actress studying at NYU Tisch) and the principal (a lovely British gentleman who's willing to spend time talking to students, he greets us at the school gate every morning, and I really like and respect him) and we talked a bit about the British monarchy because we were talking about historical fiction and I mentioned the crown
And my principal (who was still living in the UK and presumably a young adult when the whole Diana thing was happening) mentioned that the monarchy used to be really isolated and closed off (granted except for state events which are still not that accessible, and occasional rebels like the Duke of Windsor and Princess Margaret) But when Diana joined the royal family, she brought a lot more public attention to the monarchy. People started paying more attention to the royal family because of her.
And she used that extra attention to shed light on causes that the crown previously didn't touch on, perhaps most notably AIDS by hugging a patient during a time when people were afraid to even approach them.
Diana didn't fit into the pre-existing, and perhaps cold mould of the monarchy. She wasn't a typical bride for the heir. (No queen consort is truly "weak" but Diana was really stubborn especially regarding how to raise her children) And honestly, while personally I think the whole marriage issue is really unfortunate circumstances and there's no singular villain, the royal family could have been a lot kinder to her.
But despite everything, and perhaps partly because she didn't fit in as well, she managed to change things for the better.
Prince William took after his mother's efforts to shed light on marginalized groups or topics that need to be addressed: he's the first royal to appear in a gay magazine, he's currently doing a couple projects tackling homelessness, he and Princess Kate have a couple of projects regarding mental health and anti-bullying, he founded the earth-shot prize etc. And so much of what he (and his wife) does is following Diana's footsteps. The monarchy, at the very least the Wales is more of a public servant than a mere figurehead now.
Now let's look at Henry.
Henry's the odd one out by being gay, but also by not being the traditional figure of masculinity that his monarchy held by: Henry's a writer, a historian, a hapless romantic. It's harsher in the book (and I've written an essay before on the movie's version of Henry's grandfather being genuinely worried about Henry not being accepted by the public and getting hurt as opposed to the Queen in the book who's just a homophobic bitch for the sake of it), but in both, we see how terrible Philip and the Queen's insults to him was. In both, the monarchy was not accepting of his differences, and in the book, they were straight-up cruel. They very deliberately hurt them. (His situation in the books is more black and white than Diana's situation)
He wanted to work with Pez's foundation on LGBT youth shelters long before he came out. His outing, despite being an invasion of privacy, led to the mass pride protests. By officially announcing Alex as his boyfriend/suitor, and later creating/joining LGBT charities, he's giving support and a platform for the LGBT community.
In the movie it's implied that their monarchy is more closed off and like our world's old monarchy (Henry's children's hospital visits are private endeavours, and he mentioned being stuck "doing mindless ribbon-cutting" while Alex is out there changing the world, which implies his jobs is more the ceremonial stuff)
So just like Diana, Henry was not accepted by the monarchy/royal family but eventually used his position to shed light on those in need, using the monarchy's influence for positive change.
There are a couple more parallels:
In the book, Henry has blonde hair and blue eyes and so does Diana
In the movie, Henry was named "the Prince of England's Heart" just as Diana was called "the Queen of People's Hearts"
And I don't know if this was a deliberate design on Nick's part but
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(these are the best gifs I can find that demonstrate what I'm trying to show, a better parallel would be the shot of Henry looking at Alex through his eyelashes when Pez was introducing himself to Nora but I can't find a gif of it)
TL DR: Henry will have the same role/position/significance to his world's monarchy as Diana did with our world's royal family
And honestly, I think Diana would have loved him.
tagging @lfg1986-2 because you mentioned you were looking forward to this one, hope you like it!

Silver Nights William Dump
William Afton was born in the UK. When he was 5, he and his family moved to the USA. He had enrolled in Kindergarten and made his first and mostly only friend, Henry Emily. He'd grown up being beaten by his father for being effeminate; he also witnessed his mother's near-death until she managed to take herself and William out of that situation. He'd keep in touch with Henry through the years, and in high school, they'd meet in person again; being in a safer environment, he pursued gymnastic classes and later studied the acrobats at circuses he frequented. He'd hear Henry's wishes for more familial spaces, and they'd propose a Diner they'd run together one day. William's interest in Robotics and Engineering has always been around, but it was elevated in high school. After graduating, he and Henry attended the same university to continue working together. Eventually, they worked hard and long enough to gain investors in their diner and animatronics. William then married a woman named Margaret, also called Maggie. They would have a firstborn named Michael, and a year later, Henry and his girlfriend had a pair of Twins, Charlotte and Samuel. Their family continues to be close. Despite being married and having families, William silently fell in love with his childhood friend Henry. But he would refuse to let him know in any capacity. However, his trust and loyalty in Henry would have grown from their younger years to now.
William loves his children immensely. He'd gotten his family a large home in the suburban neighborhood not too far from Henry's own, becoming neighbors and a close-knit family. He'd even joked with Henry about their children being together to tie their families, Charlie and Michael. Then Maggie, three years later, would birth twins Elizabeth and Evan. William taught Michael how to be their brother, though he never really needed to guide him much as he was pretty loving to them. At the Diner, William's special suit - persona, if you would, Sweet Bonnie was made for Henry's Fredbear. Sweet Bonnie is Fredbear's spouse, a tall yellow rabbit with long curled blonde hair and decently heavy makeup of eyeshadow and lipstick. Due to the time era, William had secretly based her off Drag Queens, which he'd enjoyed enough to use as a cover for his affections for Henry. If he couldn't be with him as a man and because they're both taken, he'd have Sweet Bonnie with Fredbear, which Henry agreed to as it's a 'family diner' after all. They'd later introduce Freddy, Fredbear and Sweet Bonnie's son. His neighbor friends Chica and Bonnie! They wanted a third, and William had noticed how much into a pirate his son Michael had become. Hence, as a gift to the diner and his eldest, he made a Fox Pirate to befriend Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie.
The years would go by, and everyone would be happy. William would get Michael into sports, and Elizabeth and Evan started ballet classes under Maggie's teachings. Things at the Diner were swell, too! Until Michael's sports friends started coming around the diner and picking on the guests - including Michael's own brother. William tries to get his son to stop; they have arguments, especially about how Evan would cry as a reaction. William firmly believes he can respond how he needs to; to cry does not make you less of a man. Michael disagrees. It's back and forth. While this is happening, Henry's been less attentive to their diner and more focused on his children. William's frustration is hard to speak about since Henry's wife has recently passed, so he's doing it alone. Henry refuses to hire a babysitter, a lot of problems are piling up, and William begins to drink and drink heavily. He had decided in his drunken stupor that if he saw Charlotte or Sammy, he'd end them for taking Henry from his duties. On the Twins' birthday, William finds Charlotte alone in the alley; no thoughts but William's promise would come into play, stumbling out of the car with a bottle looming behind her before cracking it and holding her still. Dark skies above, rain pouring down, alcohol staining him. She bites and wriggles. Still, he'd stab the shards into her chest several times and end her off with a slit throat - until he remembered what he was doing. He stopped midway, dropping her behind a dumpster to flee back to his car and hurry home. He slept in the basement that night. He felt no regret, though. He thought it would be okay. Henry would get over it.
He'd not know Charlie survived until next morning. He'd learn she had no recollection it was him and so, he acts like nothing happened.

The medical specialty of pharmacy connects the fields of health sciences with contemporary pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacists can work in a variety of capacities, including managing a pharmacy, managing medication therapy or illnesses, performing chemical and biopharmaceutical research, and writing prescriptions for patients.
How to Enroll in UK Pharmacy Courses
Short courses as well as standard undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered by several UK universities in the field of pharmacy. In the UK, a student enrolled in a pharmacy program has three main career options: pharmacy technician, pharmacy assistant, or pharmacist.
A student must meet certain basic prerequisites in order to be eligible to enroll in pharmacy studies in the UK; however, the specific requirements for each university subject vary.
In the UK, London and Manchester are your two main options if you want to pursue pharmacy education. Both cities were top-notch, home to all the respected pharmacy schools. They provided a range of course options, special location opportunities, internships, clinical placements, scholarship programs, and programs. There was an option between Manchester, a bustling modern metropolis, and London, an ancient and historical one.
Prerequisites for entry
In order to enroll in a pharmacy course in the UK, a student must fulfill the following key eligibility requirements:
A history in mathematics, chemistry, or English
34 points on the International Baccalaureate or an AAB in A-Level
For overseas students, a minimum score of 6.0 or an overall IELTS score of 6.5 is required.
If they don't meet the university's eligibility requirements, international students applying to this course in the UK might have to finish a foundation course before they can pursue an undergraduate degree. Numerous academic institutions provide introductory courses in pharmacy. But only those who qualify can submit an application. In addition, tuition fees for international students may be greater than those for students in the UK and EU.
This course is offered by many universities in the UK, providing students with a wide range of options. All students who wish to pursue a career in pharmacy, however, rank some universities at the top of their list.

Prospects for a Career in Pharmacy
Pharmacy:
The majority of pharmacists who oversee the accurate administration of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals work in community or hospital pharmacies with sophisticated dispensing equipment and large drug inventories. They work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to make sure patients receive the right medication, offer advise on how to manage conditions, and keep an eye on patient dosages.
Assistant at a pharmacy:
Assistants are essential to the efficient running of any pharmacy since they help technicians and pharmacists with a variety of ad hoc duties. Prescription pickup and delivery, helping with supply purchases to guarantee demand is met across departments, and answering client questions regarding the best course of action are a few examples of what this can include. Hospitals employ the vast majority of assistants in the healthcare sector.
The maximum salary for a pharmacist?
Professionals often start out earning £18,500.
For non-professionals, the average first-year salary is £16,800.

Raynaud’s phenomenon, which causes parts of the body like the fingers and the toes to go cold and numb, likely stems from two genes, a study published Thursday in the journal Nature Communications found.
The results of the study — the largest genetic study of the condition to date — could lead to more effective treatments, experts said.
In people with Raynaud’s phenomenon, cold temperatures or stress trigger spasms in the small blood vessels near the surface of the skin, causing the vessels to constrict and limit blood flow. The fingers and toes are most commonly affected, according to the Mayo Clinic. The skin will turn white or blue and then red when the attack ebbs.
“It gets painful and numb,” said Dr. Marie Gerhard-Herman, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and a staff physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital specializing in cardiovascular medicine. During an attack, people may not be able to move their hands as they want, added Gerhard-Herman, who was not involved with the new study.
Dr. Laura Hummers, a rheumatologist and an associate professor at Johns Hopkins Medicine, said that while medications for Raynaud’s are available, they can have unwanted side effects.
“The main therapy currently is a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers,” said Hummers, who was also not involved with the new research. “Those therapies are fairly helpful.” But they lower blood pressure, which can be a problem for otherwise healthy people, she said. And they can cause side effects, such as constipation, dizziness and headache, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Raynaud’s occurs in 2% to 5% of the population, more commonly in women, and takes two forms.
Primary Raynaud’s is by far the most common and is typically diagnosed in teenage girls and women in their 20s, Gerhard-Herman said. Its symptoms are often manageable with lifestyle changes alone, such as avoiding cold and limiting stress. However, some patients’ symptoms are so bothersome that they must use medication.
The genes identified in the study are linked to primary Raynaud’s.
Secondary Raynaud’s is rare and its symptoms can be more serious, including ulcers on fingers and gangrene, and medication is often necessary. It occurs in people with autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma, which causes thickening and inflammation of the skin, and lupus, which causes inflammation throughout the body.
Raynaud’s runs in families and is heritable. “About half the people who have primary Raynaud’s phenomenon have another first-degree relative who also has Raynaud’s,” said Hummers, who co-directs John Hopkins Scleroderma Center.
The new study explains why.
Researchers in London and Berlin looked at data from more than 440,000 people in the UK Biobank, a massive database containing genetic and medical information. The team identified 5,147 cases of Raynaud’s, 68% of which were primary Raynaud’s. Another 439,294 records served as controls.
“We identify two distinct genes that point to two distinct mechanisms,” said Maik Pietzner, one of the study’s lead researchers and chair in health data modeling at Queen Mary University of London’s Precision Healthcare University Research Institute.
One gene variant affects how blood vessels narrow. People with this variant have a high number of a particular receptor for hormones that are released when the body is stressed or cold, he said. These hormones signal the tiny blood vessels in the skin to constrict, allowing blood to flow away from the extremities and to the body’s vital organs. The other gene variant affects how blood vessels dilate, or relax, he said.
The findings could hopefully lead to new treatments: Drugs could be developed that target this hormone receptor, for example, Pietzner said. One existing drug, an antidepressant called mirtazapine, already acts on the receptor and could possibly be repurposed for people with Raynaud’s, he said.
“For patients, it’s all about finding treatments,” he said.
While the two gene variants were linked to primary Raynaud’s, not to the secondary form, any new drugs developed might help people with both, Hummers said.
The researchers noted that the study had limitations. For example, they relied on diagnostic codes in people’s electronic health records, which aren’t always reliable. As a result, some cases of Raynaud’s may have been missed while others might have been misdiagnosed.
In addition, the participants were all of European descent, and so the results cannot be generalized to all people. More studies are needed, the researchers wrote.
“They need to actually look at people with other ancestries,” Gerhard-Herman said.
Still, the large study is the first to identify the underlying genetics of the condition. “The genetic studies that have been done in Raynaud’s up until this point hadn’t been as compelling as this one,” Hummers said.
“It’s a huge step forward,” she said.

Pharmacists based within care homes make them safer for residents, research shows
Tumblr media
Basing pharmacies in care homes makes them safer for residents, a study has shown.
The Care Home Independent Pharmacist Prescriber Study (CHIPPS) trialled onsite pharmacists in dozens of care homes across the UK.
Evidence from the study shows that onsite pharmacists reduce the risk of potential harm to care home residents from medicine.
According to the study, which has been published in the BMJ today (Tuesday, 14 February), care home residents are routinely prescribed an average of eight or more medicines.
Medicine use is considered to be one of the main areas of risk in care home settings by both the government and regulatory organisations.
There have been regular calls for interventions to help to improve the management of medicine in care homes.
One study cited in the BMJ paper, says that 70% of care home residents experienced drug errors daily.
The research involved experts from the University of Aberdeen, Queen’s University Belfast, University of East Anglia, University of Leeds, Norwich Clinical Trials and was led by the Unviersity of Leicester.
CHIPPS conducted a randomised controlled trial including 49 care homes across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The study also involved 25 care home trained pharmacist independent prescribers who were integrated into care homes to improve medicines management and safety.
Researchers have determined that the implementation of pharmacist independent prescribers in care homes is safe, well received by all stakeholders and reduces potential future harm from medicines.
According to the study, independent monitoring of pharmacist activities and review of unexpected resident deaths and hospitalisations found no safety concerns.
Interviews with general practitioners, care home managers, carers and residents identified a high level of satisfaction with the service provided by the pharmacist independent prescribers.
Analysis of the primary outcome of falls did not show a significant reduction, potential future harm from medicines was significantly reduced.
Professor Christine Bond, who co-led the main trial and was the Aberdeen project lead, said: “Pharmacists are increasingly taking on more roles including as prescribers. It is important these new services are underpinned by evidence of effectiveness and safety. This study showed that pharmacists could safely optimise prescribing regimens for care home residents, reducing their drug burden and risk of future adverse events. The service was highly valued by general practitioners and their teams who appreciated the expertise of the pharmacists and the reductions in their workload. Care home staff also valued the input from the pharmacists and their support”.
Project leader, Professor of Health Services Research and Head of School of Healthcare University of Leicester, David Wright said: “I am delighted that the culmination of this six-year programme of work, undertaken by an incredible group of researchers, clinicians and patient representatives has produced this result.
“The CHIPPS model of care was very well received by all stakeholders. We believe that this was because both our training and model of delivery focused on the integration of the pharmacist independent prescribers into the medical practice and care home teams.
“This approach was supported by our process evaluation, which found that the intervention appeared most effective when the pharmacists were embedded within their local general practice.
“Furthermore, our pharmacist-led intervention was reported by some GPs to reduce their workload as they no longer had to routinely review and authorise large numbers of repeat medicines and the pharmacist prescribers assumed some of their care home responsibilities.
“The results support expansion of the current pharmacist role in care homes, to include prescribing and frequent visits, as it reduces future harm from medicines and helps care homes to improve their management of medicines.”

What are the important things to consider/revisit in autumn for personal finance?
Tumblr media
“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” ― Pablo Picasso
There are numerous factors to consider and revisit now that autumn is upon us, such as the festive season, which is approaching, which can be a costly affair and the transition in weather becoming cold, which will mean spending more money on electricity during a year where energy prices are already at a 40 year high.
In addition, the average household bill will increase to £2,500 a year. However, an ‘energy price guarantee’ has been introduced, which is supposed to last two years, while the energy cap announced by Lizz Truss is in place.
On the other hand, when it comes to festive season purchases, the number of retail sales was higher during Christmas time in both 2020 and 2021, which was 3% in December 2020 and 2% in December 2021 compared to the same period in 2019 (ONS,2022).
Moreover, online sales decreased by 8% compared to the prior December; however, there was still more than a quarter (27%) of all retail purchases, which is significantly higher than in December 2019.
In addition, during a study, in December 2021, 46% of people reported that they felt they would be able to save money in 2022, and 66% revealed that their cost of living had mounted at the end of 2021.
Another factor to consider is how to prepare for the start of university with the cost of livingbeing on the rise and an increasing number of people applying for university, especially those aged 18. In February 2022, according to Ucas, 320,000 had applied compared to 306,000 the previous year. Uca’s findings have also revealed that the number of students accepted on UK university degree courses has decreased since 2021. However, the figure for 2022 is the second highest on record.
The total number of individuals confirmed onto a course is 425,830, a fall of 2% compared to last year, according to data released by Ucas (University admissions service).
According to a survey carried out by ‘The survey, managed by Save the Student website, more than eight in 10 people who took part in the survey said they felt worried about keeping their finances in check, with a typical maintenance loan not keeping up with increasing living costs.
The survey also suggested that four in five had contemplated dropping out of university, with half naming monetary concerns as the culprit.
The cost of living has had a 14% increase since the previous year’s responses, with a typical student spending £924 a month.
Many students turned to parents or part-time jobs or savings to cover the gap; however, one in 10 students had used a food bank in their last academic year.
In 2020 according to a survey, half of parents with young children were struggling to keep financially afloat because of the ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic, with almost half stating they had spent most of their money. 43% of parents with young children revealed that their household had almost run out of monetary funds compared to 18% of other participants.
In addition, keeping up with rent and mortgage payments is also a concern, with half of parents of young children stating they are concerned about their capacity to make payments, compared to 20% of other partakers. This is according to a survey conducted by the Fawcett Society, the Women’s Budget Group, the Mile End Institute at the Queen Mary University of London and the London School of Economics.
Intellisaving has put together a rough guide that considers the following five crucial factors colder weather, the start of university, how parents can prepare for the beginning of the school year, the festive season and preparing for the next financial year.
Guide on possible actions to take on the essential things to consider this autumn:
How to prepare for the winter season?
1.    Keep heaters and radiators clear
Make sure there is nothing obstructing radiators or heaters, such as clothing on them or furniture, so that that heat can spread
2.    Use comparison websites
Comparison websites are handy to use as you can compare between different providers and see if you are getting the best value for money on your current costs, such as energy provider, and if not, you could always switch, though do make sure to read the small print or enquire with your provider to make sure there are no penalty charges for switching.
3.    Turn off standby appliances and save electricity
Please switch off the lights when you are not in a room, and electrical items are not in use rather than leaving them on standby. Switching appliances off by the plug could save you around £30 per year. You could use plug sockets that can be turned on and off through your phone, to ensure you switch unused appliances off. There is also a cheaper alternative: timer plugs that allow you to schedule when devices should be turned off.
4.    Purchase Eco-Friendly alternatives
If an appliance breaks down and needs to be replaced, replace it with an energy- efficient model to save you some extra pennies. There is usually an EU energy- efficiency rating on the appliance when it is eco-friendly.
5.    Switch to LED Light bulbs
When it comes to light bulbs, Energy-saving light bulbs are the best option as you can cut down on the cost of your energy bills. LED light bulbs cost roughly £1.71 a year to use. And over time, it could help you save approximately £180 on energy bills compared to non-LED traditional bulbs. Energy-saving bulbs also have a longer shelf life than conventional bulbs.
6.    Find out what help you are entitled to
You could be eligible for grants and benefits if you are of state pension age, have a disability, are unemployed or have a low salary, and have been unable to pay your energy supplier.
What you could be eligible for:
o    Personal Independent Payment is for individuals that need extra financial support for an illness or disability.
o    Universal credit is for the unemployed or those receiving a low salary.
o    “Pension credit” is used to increase your pay packet in retirement
o    There are also schemes such as local council tax discounts and a Household support fund; you can enquire with your local council to find out more about the scheme.
o    Households with low incomes may be entitled to assistance with school meals, transport, and uniform through their local education authority.
How to be budget-friendly this festive season?
1.    Make personalised gifts
Making a personalised gift saves you those extra pounds and can also mean more to the person you are giving the gift to than an expensive gift that may or may not be used.
Do you like creating jewellery, why not make bracelets for some of your relatives and friends? Enjoy giving cards during the festive season; why not make a card from scratch?
2.    Limit the number of presents you give
It can be easy to get carried away with present giving as you try to buy a gift for everyone dear and near to you and if you have a long list of people, the cost of the present giving will substantially mount. So why not limit those presents to those who have your back if you run into trouble and make a cake or cookies for the rest you could not give a gift to?
3.    Set up a holiday budget
The first step in controlling your spending during the holiday period is to create a budget. To make the ideal budget, assess how much you spend and have left over each month. And if you save money monthly, include this within your budget. And then plan how much can be put aside for food, decorations, travel and other holiday expenses.
Some consumers save much before the holiday season arrives by saving at the begging of the year for the next season or by present shopping early.
4.    Nothing is more precious than the gift of your time
Sometimes it is impossible to give everyone a gift as much as you might like, so if you’re strapped for cash, why not give the gift of your time, such as walking the dog or babysitting for a relative or friend?
Or an elderly relative might be grateful if you spent an afternoon with them, keeping them company, took them to an appointment or did some housework.
5.    Look out for discounts
Take advantage of Black Friday and other sale periods to buy presents at discounted prices
6.    Make use of your loyalty points
Collect loyalty points every time you shop at a store which you have a loyalty card for and start collecting from the beginning of the year until the end of the year without using your points during the year; once the end of the holiday season approaches, start using your loyalty points towards gifts or food for the Christmas period.
Autumn is the most colourful and relaxed time of the year which shows us how beautiful the life is and lets us slow down to be prepared for the next big challenges in life. Lets embrace this autumn season and ensure that we have followed all the above mentioned tips to be ready to welcome the festive season ahead!

HISTORY OF INFORMATION
My first topic for this project is History Of Information by Professor Paul Duguid. I selected this topic (Bridging the Gaps – History of Information with Professor Paul Duguid) because I consider it important to understand how information came to being and how it has evolved over the years. The speaker gives an account of information over the years, it's impact on human in modern times and how it's various forms can be a blessing and a curse to the society.
Some lessons learnt from the discussion include: Information can have different meanings, depending on the field of study. Information has also become very important in terms of problem solving because people tend to know exactly what to do when they have the right information. Access to the right information can be a form of liberation for marginalized groups.
The guest speaker is Professor Paul Duguid, an adjunct professor at the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley; a professorial research fellow at Queen Mary, University of London; a visiting fellow in business history in the School of Management at York University (UK), and an honorary fellow of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development at Lancaster University School of Management. He has also held teaching positions at Santa Clara University, Copenhagen Business School and Ecole Polytechnique. His current research interests include the history and development of trademarks and the history of the concept of information. Below is a list of some of his recent publications and talks:

Hello, I’d like to know how you got into marketing and PR, etc. What do universities look for and what do employers look for as well in someone looking to pursue that kind of degree? I’ve been looking into it for a while now but I’m not sure if I’d enjoy it or if I have the skill set to make it work. I’ve also heard things from others about how getting into business is all connections and hustle, etc. Asking someone experienced would really help me out :)
That is quite an interesting question, thanks!
Well, when I was finishing high school where I had more classes in foreign languages, literature and history mainly I thought I wanted to do journalism and I knew that I didn't want to study English Philology, however I heard it's a dying profession so then I looked into Media and Communications courses, but then learned that there aren't a lot of jobs for people doing just Media... and then I found this PR and Media course in Scotland which caught my interest (at the time studying there as an EU student was free so I could afford to go, just had living and travel expenses to pay, you could also work part time if you need to). I knew early on that I wanted to study abroad since I was learning languages at school and was good at it, also my parents were supportive of this. I was looking for a degree that didn't include any Maths since I am very bad at it but good at languages and writing... Also I am more on the creative artsy side.
The university I went to was Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and I have heard that they are very good for PR courses and give you a short placement by the end of the course which later will make you more employable by the time you finish uni. I didn't particularly study any marketing modules at my bachelor's degree, but since PR and marketing are close to each other, I could easily get into marketing jobs too (btw the uni I went to had a course called "PR and Marketing" and I had classes with them but their degree focused more on the business and events management side of things whereas my degree with media was more creative and we could study more Film and TV modules, video production, web design and photography so sometimes I get asked to do promotional photography or videos at companies)... If I go back to do a masters someday I would definitely look into Marketing courses to be honest because it sounds interesting but I can already get into marketing jobs without having studied it mainly. At work you read a lot about marketing, what strategies to use and that way you learn from your job too...
The difference is that PR focuses on improving and maintaining the good image and reputation of the company and raising awareness of a social cause, whereas marketing is more about promoting and advertising a product and selling it, however some of the duties you would do at a marketing job are similar to what you would do at a PR job.
In terms of applying, I had to send by Ucas all of the documents that they were looking for. For example, since I'm not coming from an English speaking country I had to do a TOEFL exam, write a personal statement, a letter of recommendation from a teacher/lecturer, diploma with good grades, etc. However in order to get into a UK (or any other EU) university I also went to an educational consultant that gave me more information about the UK universities, what they were looking for in my application documents and helped to make the application process go more smoothly and surely (he also helped me secure a room in the student accommodation).
Employers are looking for experience so I did volunteering at charities in which I could plan and organize a fundraising event, write a press release and send it to the local media. The projects you do at uni are practical and would be similar to a project you could do at work so they help to develop your skills in PR and Marketing (writing articles, managing a website, making promo videos, social media management, making a PR/marketing campaign, writing a strategy plan, etc). I would suggest to look for courses that include a placement to help get the experience you need (where you will learn about email marketing, making a newsletter, digital and content writing, SEO, Google Analytics, etc).
In the beginning of the course I didn't feel like I had the skills and personality for a PR person either, didn't like studying it and I was more into the Media part of the course (didn't enjoy studying theories and writing difficult campaign project plans for client organisations haha). I thought PR was going to be one thing before I started studying it, then it turned out to be another. I even switched courses shortly but decided to finish it in the end because the academic years were passing fast and it was too late for me to start over. I also thought I'd have more secure career opportunities with this kind of degree since every company needs a PR person and it's a real job. I don't regret it because during and after uni I got some really nice office jobs that I enjoyed in marketing, advertising, as an editor, office clerk, etc. After getting work experience in the fields I knew that I liked working in marketing instead of PR haha (but it happened near the end of my studies). It also seems like there are more jobs for marketing so I needed to make this shift and transition from PR to marketing anyway...
Yes, I would say that having connections helps a bit when you are starting out but when you go to uni or start working you meet people, make friends and will build connections eventually. There are also times when they employed me because of my skills and experience or because I didn't have a lot of competition for the same job. You just need to answer the interview questions right and write a very good CV and cover letter. I believe that since I have a degree it makes it easier for me to get jobs in these fields.

I am not one to use social media, but this whole sh*t show is something I will not take sitting down. I’ve seen some messed up things on the internet, but the cyberbullying by the “Camily” is really disturbing me. Before I get to my criticisms and thoughts, I will briefly address Luke Deacon. The allegations against him are not without evidence, namely from a public social media account. One of these allegations is very serious, and can be considered “revenge p*rn which can actually lead to charges in the UK. I’m not sure if it’s the same in the UK, but in my country Luke can be legally labeled as a sex offender if convicted! This is all I know of the situation but since many of Luke’s fans are underage girls who are also fans of Queen and the Bohemian Rhapsody movie I don’t feel this issue can be totally ignored. I consider Luke “innocent until proven guilty”, as I am an inhabitant of Freedom Land. The first issue I will address is both of Cam’s parents, as I want to discuss them before the “Camily” as they’re not directly involved with the cyber bullying, at least to my knowledge. I admit that I have never met John or Veronica Deacon. I have no knowledge of the intimate details of their family life, and their parenting skills. I do have a fair amount of knowledge of John‘s time with Queen as he is my favorite surviving member of Queen. I find researching his life and trying to understand someone who seems an overlooked and complex figure in music. Yes, John is Cam’s father and to me he’s an interest, a subject I enjoy learning and trying to understand him like I do with other things I’m interested in. Meanwhile, to Cameron he is “dad”. I understand that it must be hard seeing people on the internet either make untrue statements or discuss aspects of one’s father that isn’t flattering. I get it, But Leopard (my nickname for the victim) made it clear when replying to asks that she doesn’t know things and addressed when discussions involved speculation or rumors. She also made it very clear that she didn’t like discussing John’s competence as a father and his children. These subjects made her uncomfortable but she still addressed them in a respectful way. John Deacon was a part of one of the biggest bands in the world. People are going to discuss him. Leopard didn’t do anything wrong. She admitted that John Deacon had flaws but was still sure to admit that she doesn’t know the whole story. I think her attitude is reasonable. I saw the stream the night Cam’s parents came on stream. At first I saw it quite humorous with a boomer bumbling in, ignoring his surroundings. He almost seemed senile. But as the stream went on things got uncomfortable and my attitude changed. Cam’s parents were doing the right thing as loving parents. They came over because Cam has a history of not managing his diabetes properly. His father (his mother explained) was becoming worried about his son’s glucose levels and tried to contact him. When he wouldn’t pick up his phone his father became worried and the two went over. Cameron was peeved and rude to them. I don’t think John cared about if people on the internet saw him. He was too focused on making sure his son wasn’t in danger and that his phone was charged. He only left when he knew his son’s levels weren’t too low and his phone was charging. He even mentioned off screen that he brought some treats (I have no idea what he said, and if it was a favorite sweet or what) from the store. I’m just making an observation of a stranger peeking in, but I think it’s clear John adores his son. Maybe the scant bit of interaction I observed of John Deacon as a person (instead of Queen’s bassist) was of a devoted father who was telling his adult son “I love you, I want you to be happy and I will be devastated if anything happened to you” without saying it verbally. People have different ways of showing their love. I know (per interviews with John) he experienced loss at a very young age when his father passed away. I don’t know John’s personal thoughts and relationship with Freddie Mercury and how his death affected him personally, but watching someone’s health decline due to AIDS is probably an upsetting and unforgettable experience. I bring these two examples up because this to me suggests Cam’s dad knows first hand how delicate and precious life is, wisdom that Cam seems blissfully unaware of due to his disregard of his parents’ anxiety. Cam obviously knows his father better than I can ever, but sometimes it’s good to have a different perspective. On to Mama Deacon. Yes, she was shouting at her adult son while he was live on stream. Like Cam’s father, she was completely in the right. When she said they were making sure Cam “wasn’t dead” and that Cam’s life was at stake, she was not being overly dramatic. If a diabetic’s blood sugar is too low their body can actually go into shock and than into a coma. If one doesn’t manage their diabetes this can happen and it can kill you. Diabetes is a life threatening condition. I’m not a diabetic, and I’m sure it sucks and isn’t easy to manage. Cameron is an adult at 27. His parents will not always be around to help him. If he wants to live by himself his priority should be learning to manage his diabetes without his parents’ help. His life literally depends on it. His glucose levels is far more important than his streaming career. Until he proves he can consistently manage himself to them his glucose levels are their business. Additionally, since they pay for his flat it’s technically their’s and thus can come over when ever they want. If anyone was being “inappropriate” it was Cam. His mother carried him for nine months, at age 43. For a woman her age, pregnancy can be risky and very hard on her body. She has cared for her son’s health issues, helped him through school and has loved him unconditionally. She seems to have done everything she can to protect Cam and pushed him to be the best person he can be. And this is only what I’m aware of. At her age, she should only leave her home when completely necessary to protect herself from Covid-19, for she is in the age group most at risk. Her son wouldn’t even leave his chair to greet her. Do you know how my parents would react to me if I acted the way Cam did Sunday? Most people can only dream about the privileges Cam has. Again, I don’t know everything about Cam’s life but what I saw was a mother and father trying to do what is best for their son. If Cam is so concerned about his parents’ privacy, why didn’t he turn off his stream? He could’ve even walked off to talk to his parents rather than continuing to play and yelling at them from his chair? This whole situation can be solved simply by Cam answering his phone, keeping it charged or even walking off camera to talk to his parents rather than barking orders from his screen. As I said earlier, to them their son seems more important to them rather than their privacy. Cam makes such a big deal over their privacy but I think he also has to respect his parents’ feelings and all that they do for him. Part of respecting them should include making a better effort to take care of himself. Five hours without food excepting a bowl of cereal could give me low blood sugar to the point of trembling and not being able to concentrate. Since Cam did just that, maybe his parents’ concern of his blood sugar is not without merit. Cam mentions his mental health issues and depression. One of the ways to help stabilize his mood would be stabilizing his blood sugar. The Camily should consider my words as they criticized Cam’s parents’ behavior. I have addressed the Mama and Papa elephant in the room, I will now focus mainly on Cam’s “Camily”. Due to time restraints, I will address the Camily in a later post. In the mean time, there is a difference between “haters” and critics. A hater says things simply to hurt or insult. A critic disagrees for a reason. If anyone thinks I’m a hater that needs to be “bunny blocked” go right ahead. I don’t care what strangers, many of them children think of me. I think bunnies are cute. Send me bunny emojis if you all think I’m spreading hate. This will only lend more evidence that the Camily is leading an internet harassment campaign. BTW I have been owned by pet rabbits since I was seven. Let me tell you, Mr. Bunny is unhappy to know his good name and image is being used as a symbol to bully. No, I am not jealous of Cam. I am proud of my family and wouldn’t trade them for any other. My dad has a profession I consider noble and was the one who raised me. The same goes for my mother. My extended and nuclear family includes firemen, a priest, nurses, teachers, librarians, a researcher studying cancer, a lawyer and engineers. None are famous but I don’t care. They are good people and it doesn’t matter how much the public knows about them or how much they earn. What matters to me is that they work hard and have a strong moral character. If you do wish to harass me, I ask of one thing. Show my post to Cameron Deacon and have him read my post (and any later ones I hope to soon put up) on his Livestream. If Cameron thinks I’m being a bully or am wrong about anything, please have him show this to his parents, the two people who love him more than anyone else does. If they think I’m wrong about anything or am bullying their son, have them PM me so we can discuss. Do not bully anyone who posts or likes this.

Season 4: Victims
As “The Crown” inches closer towards the 21st century— covering the period between 1977 to 1990 — it introduces iconic characters such as Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher. Tracing the destructive marriage of Charles and Diana and the change of UK under the leadership of Margaret Thatcher, the forth season takes on a darker turn in portraying the royal family.
The season follows the start of the romance of Charles and Diana, it soon moves to the wedding of “fairytale”. “How many times can this family make the same mistake? ”, Margaret puts when she clearly sees that this royal-arranged marriage will pay the consequence eventually. In the episode “Terra Nullius”, after giving birth to her first child, Prince William, Diana decides to take her son to go on a royal visit in Australia. She has been suffering mentally and having episodes of eating disorder due to the stresses she is facing in the royal family and her husband’s continuing interest in Camila. The visit turns into a huge success with Diana’s popularity, but as Diana snatches the centre attention, she receives resentment from her husband which leads to endless fights.
It is inevitable that this marriage is not able to work as the Queen wants from the future King. With Charles contributing largely to Diana’s unhappiness, he becomes turning into a villain. But looking back his life portrayed in the previous seasons, isn’t he a victim of the royal family as well? His life is arranged in the way he is not best suited by the family, he couldn’t study in the school he fits and marry the woman he loves. Bearing the burden of the next King, his family to him is brutal, all he wants is some kindness from the family.
There is a parallel between Charles and Margaret, both have been discouraged from marrying the ones they love and they end up in a devastating marriage. “The Hereditary Principle” is the only Margaret-centric episode of the season, delving deeper into Margaret’s depression — something that’s managed to get even worse since she ended her destructive marriage to Tony. Following an operation of partial removal of her lung, weakened Margaret makes a familiar request to take on more royal duties, but the now-of-age Princes Edward replaces her role as Counsellor of state. When Margaret attends a psychotherapy session, as the camera moves into a close-up of Bonham Carter’s profile, her quivering lips belies Margaret’s stoicism, with the princess admitting to her depression. Helena Bonham Carter makes up for her reduced screen time brilliantly. She is tasked with not just capturing the princess’ aimless existence, but as she’s been doing all season long, positioning Margaret as the only royal confident enough to call bullshit on her family’s atrocious behaviour, especially after her discovery of her disabled cousins.
The Crown observes that the royals' failures can more often than not be self-inflicted -- and in doing so, the show produces its biting season yet.

History of Queen’s University Belfast
With more than 100K graduates from all over the world, 3,500 staff members, and students from more than 85 countries, Queen's University Belfast has established itself as one of the UK's and the world's top research universities.
Over the course of 175 years, Queen's University Belfast—also known as Queen's or QUB—has found its way to academic and research distinction. The educational institution is steeped in antiquity, and the Belfast Academic Institution is infused with history (founded in 1810). After being chartered in 1845 and opening its doors to offer higher education four years later with 195 students enrolled and 23 teachers, the institution discovered its roots as Queen's College, Belfast.
Queen's University Belfast, the ninth-oldest university in the UK, became an independent institution in 1908. With 24,000 UK, EU, and international students prospering in its academic, research, and social programmes, Queen's has joined the Russell Group with an unbroken focus on the pursuit of research across a variety of areas.
The academic institution is a major centre for research. The university has made contributions to research on every scale, earning it the 8th spot for research intensity in the UK according to Times Higher Education. In the academic years 2016–2017, Queen's secured more than £101.6 million in research grants, contracts, and prizes.
Queen's University Belfast has established four research institutes that do various types of study in the areas of healthcare, food safety, cybersecurity, and international peace, security, and justice, building on the institution's tradition of outstanding disciplinary research.
Queen's University Belfast gives students the chance to enjoy the city life and scenic splendour of Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. It is situated in Queen's quarters. There is a lot to discover outside the city limits in addition to the various campuses, parks, nightlife, and architecture that it has.
The McClay Library, the School of Law, and the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine were developed by Queen's University Belfast, which also added a new Computer Science Building and Student Center.
