I drew the characters from Sunsoft's Hebereke/Ufouria since the game (and entire series at that) is great and the characters are fun to draw, finally got around to doing this.

Happy 33rd Anniversary to Hebereke!

Today is the 33rd anniversary of Hebereke, a very obscure video game series from Sunsoft! I remember first knowing it back in 2020, and became very obsessed with it, although I'm now more interested in Chikn Nuggit and on radio and TV stuff, although I sometimes still bring up about Hebereke. In fact, if it wasn't for Hebe, then my current OC, Penguy, won't even be made in the first place, as he was in fact inspired by Hebe (which can easily be noted by the similar faces)! As it turns out, since 2021, I used Hebe as my online avatar, and so people started associating him with me, and after an ongoing Discord drama, someone made a video in which supposedly, the modern Hebe is an impostor (and no, this ain't an Among Us reference), and that the actual Hebe didn't know what social media is. So at the end, I made Penguy as my new OC, likely to further clean my image, and since then, I lost some online enemies and made new friends.

The gang from the Hebereke series! From the top counter clockwise: Hebe, Sukezaemon, O-Chan and....Jennifer. Yes.

Most will know these guys in a slightly different guise from the NES platformer Ufouria but they had a whole series of games mostly in Japan only (and a handful in Europe) including puzzle games, an on-foot racing game and even an arena fighter. They were also the ground of a level in the Mega Drive version of Lemmings. No, really.

None of these games were particularly amazing but I still have a (Sun)soft spot for them. Especially the 90's AF music.

Gonna be playing Hebereke's Popoitto along with a bunch of other puzzle games on the Sega Saturn tomorrow here!

I only know of one taiga drama that has a friendship between Ishida Mitsunari and Konishi Yukinaga drawn called Ōgon no Hibi about Sakai’s merchant Luzon Sukezaemon. It’s from 1978 and has a very positive image of Mitsunari (and from what I read people still find this Mitsunari really cool; and he is and his actor also played Honda Masanobu in Sanadamaru. Even though I dislike Ieyasu in Sanadamaru, Masanobu is good), who’s friends with Sukeza (and Konishi) and they just try making Sakai good.

I actually didn’t watch it, only bits here and there, but... the thing about this drama is that Mitsunari has feelings for Akechi Tama [Hosokawa Gracia] (nothing ever comes from it, but they’re there) and two things that are noteworthy are:

1. Tama warns Mitsunari that Kiyomasa (and Tadaoki) and the rest plan an attack on him

2. The one asking for hostages before Sekigahara are said to be magistrates led by Mashita Nagamori. Mitsunari is of course involved, but he expects that Tama will come and he will finally meet her again. And Tama, when she was told that Nagamori wants her to come as a hostage, was willing to quietly come, but Tadaoki’s subordinate told her that Tadaoki ordered that she couldn’t become a hostage under any circumstances. And she realises that Tadaoki asks her to commit suicide (and she looks at the cross, because wtf tono why can you ask me that. So she asks her maid to kill her)

I would watch this story actually, if it wasn’t 50 episodes long... 

And Mitsunari having feelings for Tama isn’t even the weirdest thing I came across in fiction. That will always be any kind of love story between Nobunaga and Mitsuhide, I think :D So far, I’ve watched female!Nobunaga/Mitsuhide, read Nobunaga/female!Mitsuhide, watched a stage play where they confessed love at Honnoji and Mitsuhide committed suicide to follow after Nobunaga and they both burned down at Honnoji

Another Insane thought

I've seen that Hebe and the gang have awesome abilities, I've also know that Sasuke have very cool abilities. Like for an example

Sasuke and Hebe, both have an ability to climb walls

Sasuke and O Chan, both have an ability to freeze their foe

Sasuke and Sukezaemon, they both jump high (And they love to drink green tea)

Sasuke and Jennifer, they both use bombs (And their color are green)

Shades, known as  Sukezaemon in the Japanese version. It is a ghost !

Sukezaemon from Hebereke is PDD-NOS delayed-speech autistic and ADHD. He learned how to verbally communicate at the age of 9 after years of speech therapy, and learned to read and write even before he could say noun words! He wears shades to avoid eye-contact and too much light, stims with his hammer, and likes to float away using his red cap with little white angel wings. All the sentences (like 20) Sukezaemon can speak are repeated from his royal parents or by hearing words of other people.
