Warnings: Bullet wound; surgical procedure
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Fem!Reader

You thought the bones in your hand would give, shatter beneath the pressure of the desperate grip around them. The thing was, though, that you didnât care. If it brought a single measure of relief to your archer, youâd gladly allow every single one to become a shard below the skin and deal with your own pain later.
âJust a little more.â You tried to soothe as best as you could through your tears. âJust a little longer.â His hair was sweat damp, sticking to his face and neck. The belt between his teeth would carry the indents forever. Maybe youâd never wear it again.
âItâs lodged in the muscle.â Hershel said from behind Daryl, his face a stern reflection of his concentration as he dug the tweezers into the wound of the lower right flank. Daryl tried to arch away, biting down on the leather with a howling sound youâd surely hear in your nightmares for the rest of your life. You couldnât suppress a gasp when he squeezed your hand once again.
âCanât we just leave it then? Wonât it heal?â Rick asked, from below, his grip on Darylâs ankles tightening to keep the man as still as possible.
The veterinarian shook his head. âThere is the risk of lead poisoning.â Another twist of the tweezers led to another buck of the archerâs body.
âSsh, youâre gonna be okay. Youâre doing so well. Please, just stay withââ Your eyes widened when his hold on you went slack, his pain-lined face relaxing, the belt falling to the mattress. âHershel?!â
âHe passed out.â The man stated sympathetically, though he continued his work with only enough pause to press two fingers to Darylâs neck. âPulse is fast but strong.â
You nodded, expression tight and grim. It would be another twenty minutes before the slug and any shards were removed, the wound cleaned and stitched. Propped on his side, the archer slept, the faint pinched expression the only sign of discomfort. You sat with him throughout the night, refusing to even allow yourself to doze.
It was just before sunrise when Daryl stirred, groaning and hissing when he made the smallest attempt to roll onto his back. You straightened in the chair and nodded to Carol, not watching as she ran to find Hershel.
âHey.â You greeted with both visible and audible relief, your hand cupping his cheek. âHow are you feeling? Do you remember what happened?â
Daryl grimaced. âAinât somethinâ mâgonna forget anytime soon.â
Your lips thinned out in a sad smile. âHershel says youâre gonna be fine, just sore for a few days. Youâve gotta take it easy.â When he rolled his eyes and made an attempt to sit up, you stopped him with a firm press against the round of his shoulder. âI mean it, Daryl.â
âMâfine. Too much to do for me to be a lazy bum in this bed.â The level of annoyance in his tone was equal to that on his face.
âNo. No, Daryl.â You admonished sternly. âYouâre not pushing yourself with this. You need to rest and youâre going to.â He scoffed and tried again, only for the same halting press of your hand. âDaryl Dixon, if you move from this bed before Hershel says you can, Iâll never speak to you again.â That had his attention, wide blue eyes staring you down while he settled back onto the pillow.
âYâserious?â
It was a threat you werenât entirely sure you could follow through with, but he didnât need to know that. You kept your silence, hoping it would be all that was needed to coerce him. You were rewarded.
âFine.â He huffed.
âYou promise?â You ventured, knowing Daryl was nothing if not a man of his word. Another roll of his eyes.
âPromise.â
You beamed at him, diving forward to cup his face and press a kiss to his mouth. âThank you. I donât know if I could have stuck to that.â
His expression soured. âYouâre a asshole.â
âBut you love me.â He didnât say it back. He didnât need to. Daryl said I love you in actions, not words. And he had shown you over and over how deeply he cared for you, even taking that very bullet for you.
Still, it was the day he was allowed out of bedâafter you had rarely left his sideâthat you finally heard those three words leave his lips.

If you can see hysterectomy not extreme, then you can see orchidectomy isn't either.
no hon.
i'm gonna correct you straight off the bat on this because number one, i NEVER said a hysterectomy 'wasn't extreme'.
and number two, getting a hysterectomy is VERY extreme and should absolutely not be taken lightly in any form. it is a highly invasive and sometimes *dangerous* surgery.
whether it is used to treat severe endo or for dysphoria/transition, *anything* that cuts your gut wide open and takes pieces of you out can be both *life threatening* and extreme. this would be why recovery is monitored so heavily after the fact and so goddamn important.
christ, CHILD BIRTH and even pregnancy or fucking miscarriage are extreme and can ALSO be life threatening, EVEN with modern medicine (and this should be especially obvious if you live in the u.s. right now)! so this statement was HORRIBLY misguided and ill informed.
people should absolutely have access to and autonomy for these surgeries should they want or need them, but don't you dare go spreading misinformation about that shit or trying to downplay it. cutting someone open in any regard for any reason to permanently alter their body is extreme. even if they NEED it. so is amputating a limb!
and you know what else is fucking extreme?
*CIRCUMCISION*!
and look, you seem youngish?? and i don't want to antagonize you but this shit right here made me mad and i'm gonna be purely up front with you, even if *you* want an orchiectomy or are trans or whatever and these 'don't seem like that big a deal' to you, they are a HUGE deal for many other people including doctors and especially those that bother to be well informed on these topics.
you need to *not* project onto others or try to invalidate their experiences/opinions.
there are people with severe endo or cancer who *want* kids, but *can't* have them and end up getting this surgery and it ends up being one of the most painful fucking experiences of their lives. the same goes for someone who might need an orchiectomy for whatever reason, yes and including trans people.
and their experiences of *actually* going through that instead of just fantasizing about or romanticizing it matter and should be taken into consideration.
this isn't a game or joke. don't you dare treat it like one.

Understanding Hair Transplant From Experts
A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from a part of the body called the donor site to a bald or balding part of the body known as the recipient site. It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. Hair follicles are taken from the back of the head. The scalp on the back of the head is resistant to DHT and therefore DHT cannot cause hair loss in this area. The follicles are then placed into tiny incisions made in the balding area. The transplanted follicles will begin to grow hair within 4-6 months after surgery.

"CAUSED GIRL'S DEATH PRISON FOR 4 YEARS," Toronto Star. January 22, 1943. Page 2. ---- Penitentiary Term Imposed Woman Who Admitted Her Guilt ---- Mrs. Helen Gorton (alias Rose), who on Monday last pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter of Anne Bolton, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Hope to four years in the penitentiary.
Anne Bolton died on Oct, 27, 1942, while at the home of accused and during the illegal operation which Mrs. Gorton admitted.
In passing sentence. Mr. Justice Hope recalled that it was not accused's first offence.
"You had the opportunity of contemplating the error of your ways when some six or seven years ago you were given consideration just as you were entering upon engaging in the same practices, which you have admitted in this case. It is not an easy matter for a judge in such a case, to render justice to the public and at the same time consider all the representations made in your behalf and to the circumstances of the case and the seriousness of the crime."
According to evidence, accused, in a panic. fled from the room in which Anne Bolton's death occurred, but gave herself up and made complete confession the following day, Oct. 28, 1942.
[AL: Gorton does not seem to have gone to the penitentiary. She appealed her sentence and had it reduced to a two year term.]

I'm curious, have you ever seen the fanon "Jc didn't consent to having a golden core" before? It's quite a popular thing back in the day, idk if you've made a meta about it, but what do you think about it?
oh i have seen it, anon, and no, i havenât made a meta about it but @mxtxfanatic has written this piece which perfectly and concisely explains why this discourse is such a moot point and i agree with it wholeheartedly.
this golden-core conversation is one of those fandom talking-points which makes me wonder what the purpose of conceptualising it was in the first place because the novels sure as hell donât paint the perceived medical malpractice as something so contentious where wei wuxian and wen qing are subjected to vitriol over âmessing with jiang chengâs bodily autonomyâ. idk, it rings as disingenuous to me and a way of trying to once again bring wei wuxian down a peg or two because they think he deserves it, despite there being implicit consent given by jiang cheng while accepting any means of getting his core back. wei wuxian never specified a method, so the consent was inherently blanketed.
as such, i just donât enjoy entertaining this conversation in any capacity because i personally do not find it a good faith reading of this situation.
#we could debate this from the premise of jc feeling wronged by the procedure itself but that was never the case#he must have had a surgical scar; if that bothered him he would have dug out the reason for his own sake#but he never did; the transplant wasnât the issue. it was the fact that it was wwxâsâsomeone heâd hated for SO long which brings the turmoil#ask#mdzs#wei wuxian#canon jiang cheng

Comprehensive Guide to Pterygium Surgery by Dr. Surbhi Kapadia
Pterygium surgery is a proven solution for treating the vision-impairing condition known as 'Surfer's Eye.' Dr. Surbhi Kapadia, an esteemed eye surgeon in Vadodara, offers a comprehensive guide to understanding this surgical procedure.

Pterygium Surgery â The What, How, and Why
Pterygium surgery is a procedure aimed at removing the abnormal growth on the conjunctiva to restore and preserve vision. The surgery is typically recommended when pterygium causes significant discomfort or threatens to impair vision.
The Steps Involved in Pterygium Surgery
The procedure involves several critical steps. Firstly, the patient receives local anaesthesia to ensure comfort. The pterygium is then carefully removed. To reduce the risk of recurrence, Dr. Kapadia performs a conjunctival autograft, transplanting a small section of the patient's conjunctiva to the affected area.
Aftercare and Recovery Post-Pterygium Surgery
Post-operative care is crucial for successful recovery. Patients are advised to wear protective sunglasses and avoid environmental irritants like dust and wind. Prescribed medications, such as anti-inflammatory and antibiotic eye drops, are essential for preventing infection and aiding the healing process.
Choosing the Right Surgeon for Pterygium Surgery
The success of pterygium surgery greatly depends on the surgeon's skill and experience. Dr. Surbhi Kapadia is renowned for her expertise in pterygium surgery, offering patients in Vadodara the best possible outcomes through state-of-the-art surgical techniques and personalized care.
Conclusion:
Pterygium surgery, when performed by an expert like Dr. Kapadia, can effectively treat the condition, ensuring optimal eye health and vision quality. Her patient-centered approach and extensive experience make her a top choice for individuals seeking the best pterygium treatment.
