hello my dear survivor fans
Kay so let’s go back to season 7. Remember when Rupert wore that skirt… I know I wasn’t the only damn person who thought “RuPaul” for a sec

Anyone remember in Pearl Islands when Jonny Fairplay and some other cockbag had to vote against each other and the other douche gave a voting confessional shalingua about the situation that got cut off, then Fairplay, who until now has used wrestling lines to vote people out and will again after this, just holds up his vote with a non-whispered
"Fuck You."

I've enjoyed most of RHAP's Survivor 50 Wish List thus far but I think they really missed out with Pearl Islands. I think that cast is much stronger than beyond just Sandra, Fairplay, Rupert, and Savage.
While I understand they are the likely choices for 50 I think it's a bit of a disservice to not consider some other folks too much. Like we've got challenge beast Darrah, Christa (who was a key 3 with Sandra & Rupert), Tijuana, even Burton.
(Generally I think the podcast idea is fun but definitely a bit surface level, which is also fine, but think they could go a bit deeper sometimes.)

And today's "deeply distracting au while i wait for my wrist to calm down from attempting to write for too long" iiiiiiiiiis Subnautica! an inevitability for every fandom i'm in after a certain point tbh i just LOVE Subnautica... would love to actually play it myself one day when i have a better computer
ANYWAYS I'm spicing it up this time by mashing both games together and also really mixing up the hermits.
The premise is that the Hermatrix Convoy (HC), a trio of spaceships that travels together in a group as a defense measure against outside dangers, is on its journey. When they have to reroute to slingshot 4546-B, they don't think it's going to be a problem. Knowing the planet is uninhabited and that no other ships are nearby, they all go for the slingshot at the same time, separated by mere seconds.
The gun, of course, gets them all.
Hermatrix-1 crashes in a shallow part of the flooded surface in the subtropics (the setting of the first game) and completely loses the ship, though a dozen survive. Hermatrix-2 crashes in the arctic (Subnautica: Below Zero); their ship remains habitable for survival, but barely, and eight survive.
Hermatrix-3, the smallest of the convoy, manages to switch to planetside navigation and mitigates the damage from the crash. If they want to get off-planet, they'll need some serious repairs, but in the meantime they can still move through the water like a particularly clumsy and slow submarine. The problem is figuring out where they are besides "deep, deep underwater," and what exactly the giant lifeforms the scanner insists are out there are...
Of course, there's groups within each ship as well. The friend groups of HC's staff and passengers does not necessarily correlate to ship assignment, which only adds to the stress of crashing on a supposedly-safe planet's anti-spacecraft gun.
Hermatrix-1's survivors: BDubs (architect, passenger), Zedaph (theoretical physicist), Pearl (janitor), Beef (psychologist), False (metallurgist, passenger), Etho (navigator), Scar (actor, passenger), Hypno (gov't agent, passenger), Iskall (athlete, passenger), xB (xenohistorian, passenger), Jevin (communicator specialist), Keralis (doctor)
Hermatrix-2's survivors: Ren (captain), Xisuma (cybersec specialist), Gem (ambassador, passenger), Impulse (chemist, passenger), Wels (bodyguard, passenger), Joe (teacher, passenger), Cub (CEO, pasenger), Grian (shipwright)
Hermatrix-3's survivors: Doc (spacecraft engineer), Mumbo (architect, passenger), Stress (pharmacologist), Tango (mechanical engineer, passenger), Cleo (acting captain)
If it doesn't clarify them as a passenger, then they are a member of the ship's crew. Loosely based on s9 roles, if that wasn't clear - though some of these are definitely going to change because I don't know some of these Hermits well enough yet.

last night i played board games w new friends one of which was a like castaway island game with also like survivor politics of voting for who dies when ur out of food and i was voted for who looked most likely to survive on a desert island which was SO gender bc there was some beard dudes there but i beat em w my bandana and Vibes (even tho it is incorrect i would die in two seconds but i will take the gender victory)
i made so many niche survivor references throughout the game and then me and an ally got murdered bc someone got Gun and then we got cannibalized by the last survivor of our alliance and Then i got resurrected and successfully made it off the island it was a wild game and So fun

The TV Show Trials - Survivor: Pearl Islands
Survivor places a group of strangers in an isolated location, where they must provide food, fire, and shelter for themselves. The contestants compete in challenges including testing the contestants' physical ability like running and swimming or their mental abilities like puzzles and endurance challenges for rewards and immunity from elimination.
Tumblr media
So this is my first time reviewing a reality show and I’m not too sure how to go about it. What I’m going to do is just give some general thoughts as dot points and summarise my thoughts at the end.
I will admit, with any and all reality shows, I take forever to remember the contestants, so I don’t remember anyone who was elimitaed in the first half of the season...
Straight out of the gate, I really liked Rupert. His commitment to helping the tribe and his carefree attitude are really magnetic. I think it’s really admirable that he helped Morgan win their first reward and them not staying with them the full time to enjoy the reward himself is really selfless and no other contestant would have done that.
My mid-season bids to win were Rupert, Ryan O and Andrew and boy was I 100% wrong; but I chalk that up to only now learning how a sucessful Survivor play works.
As much as I hate Jon (I’ll get into that later) the dead Grandma play was incredibly smart while also being the dirtiest tactic.
I wish that Jeff didn’t outline every single action that the survivors need to take in the challenges so that they needed to actually problem solve a little bit. I think it would add a deeper layer to the challenges outside of brute strength and speed.
I feel like Lil was too naive and kind to be on a show like Survivor, she doesn’t want to lie and double-cross people, when that’s the name of the game.
Let’s address the elephant in the room: Jon. My main issue with him isn’t that he’s a villain, but that he’s not entertaining or charismatic enough to be a good villain. I’m not watching him and going, “that’s a cruel but smart play” I’m watching him just be a mysoginist.
Also, him calling out Sandra for riding Rupert’s coattails after he got elimated while sitting comfortably on Burton’s is hilarious.
In the end, I’m glad it was Sandra who won over Lil; she played better and was actually suited for playing Survivor.
My thoughts on Survivor? I think it’s a really good show. Now this wasn’t my first time watching any part of Survivor, I’ve seen episodes here and there growing up but I’d never watched a full season and it is, naturally, a completely different experience; but it’s one I look forward to doing more often.

so, there's no official place im aware of that's compiled the names of every music track in rain world which includes DLC, unused tracks, alpha tracks, and includes every location those tracks can be found, so! i made one :) mostly just for my own fun bc i love cataloguing things.
sadly i cant include links bc there's a limit on tumblr, but these should all be pretty easy to find with a quick google search. to find the rooms listed here, since room names aren't necessarily very descriptive, you can use the interactive map!
black text = track plays in vanilla game (these songs may appear additional times with blue text in other sections)
purple text = track is unique to the downpour ost
orange text= unused vanilla track, from the files or james' soundtrack albums, which was added in-game in downpour
blue text= track used for a new location in downpour, but also appears somewhere in vanilla (these songs also appear with black text in their original vanilla locations)
all in-game tracks are sorted by the regions they appear in. some tracks play in multiple regions- these will appear on the list multiple times, sorted into each region they play in.
Trailer and promotional music (Can all be found on Youtube)

Since Tumblr allows me to write text, here it is transcribed into the post itself, yay <3:
Why I think the Fifth Urge being tied to the Concept Of "The Self" Is Really Cool!!
(aka my Apocryphal Texts personal interpretation of the fifth urge lol) - by egguca/mewguca
My personal favorite label/title for the Fifth Urge is "Self-Preservation", as it lends itself quite nicely into double-meanings. I also interpret the Urges as manifesting differently on a base level VS on a higher level. (like with animals vs with people, though people can still regress to displaying baser forms of the urges. Hopefully that makes sense?)
On a base level, "self-preservation" manifests as a survival instinct.
To preserve one's current life, rather than accepting death and rebirth. Lesser beings seem to struggle with this greatly, as the slugcats we play as (vanilla) cannot move past Fifth Karma without external assistance (FP or Echoes). I think a lot of people tend to focus on this due to Survivor's association with the symbol.
On a higher level, this is the preservation of the "Ego." Of the very idea of the self. One's self-image. Ascension is often referred to as
"crossing oneself out", so wouldn't that naturally mean to accept an extinguishment of the self? Of course, Ascension is intentionally vague, but I feel like it makes a lot of sense for the Fifth Urge to be tied to ego, at least on a higher level.
In-Game References
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice how Karma 5 is displayed over the Ancient's face, which is crossed out. This is not seen in any of the other murals. Coincidence?? I think not! /ref
Tumblr media

"Abatement of the Self" is mentioned. Shoutouts to "the self" being mentioned.

Bright Red Farm Arrays Pearl / Sky Islands Dark Blue/Green
Moon mentions "ego" here. In Latin, "Ego" means "I." Thus, Ego is tied to the concept of the "Self." The concept of
"crossing oneself out" is tied to the concept of Ascension, and this suggests that the Persistence of the "Self" is (possibly, there are other ideas for this what causes "Echoes" to form.
This stresses the importance of shedding the Fifth Urge in all its manifestations.
*(I'm not trying to argue my interpretation is "correct" or anything; this is just for fun, lol. Do what you want! It's why this is titled "why I think it's really Cool" and not "why it's correct")
