Of Two Worlds (Book 1) Chapter Three
Chapter Three: Fourth First Year
“Sorry for the wait!” called Gojo. He walked up to three of his students. They were at the train station awaiting the fourth. “Oh, Itadori, your uniform made it in time, I see!”
“Yeah, it’s a perfect fit,” said Itadori, smiling. “Though it’s slightly different from Fushiguro’s and (L/N)’s. It has a hood, for one.”
It was true. Megumi had his simple jacket with button-down underneath, pants, and brown boots. (Y/N) had a similar jacket that was cropped so it reached just the top of her high-waisted pants. Underneath, she wore a plain black t-shirt and her gloves. Her pants were loose at the top but tightened at the bottom where they were tucked into black boots.
“That’s because the uniform can be customized upon request,” explained Gojo.
“Huh? But I never put in any requests,” said Itadori.
“I was the one who put in the custom order,” said Gojo.
“Whatever, I guess,” said the pink-haired boy.
            “Careful,” said (Y/N).
Megumi nodded in agreement. “Gojo-sensei has a tendency to do things like that. More importantly, why are we meeting up in Harajuku?”
“Because it’s what she asked for,” said Gojo, pointing.
Sure enough, a young girl with light brown hair in a similar uniform was harassing a modelling agent.
“We’re about to go talk to her?” asked Itadori.
            “Fiery,” remarked (Y/N).
“This is kinda embarrassing,” said Itadori, holding his sweets and wearing his “Rook” sunglasses.
            “So are you,” said Megumi.
“Hey! Over here!” called Gojo. She walked over, so the blindfolded man decided to make introductions. “Okay, once again.” He motioned to the girl.
“Kugisaki Nobara,” she announced, “Be happy, you get another girl in your group.”
“I’m Itadori Yuuji,” said Itadori brightly, “I’m from Sendai!”
            “Fushiguro Megumi,” said Megumi simply.
            “(L/N) (Y/N),” said (Y/N), giving a small wave.
Kugisaki sighed. “I always get stuck with unfortunate circumstances.”
“She took one look and sighed…” said Itadori.
“I like her honesty,” said (Y/N). As someone who frequently said the wrong thing because of being truthful, she liked others who were straightforward.
“Are we going somewhere from here?” asked Megumi to Gojo.
            Gojo chuckled.
He’s planning something sneaky, thought (Y/N).
“We do have all four of you together,” said Gojo, “Not to mention, two of you are from the countryside. So of course we’re going on a tour of Tokyo!”
“Tokyo! Tokyo! Tokyo! We love Tokyo!” cheered Kugisaki and Itadori.
            “Huh?” said (Y/N) and Megumi.
“TDL! I want to go to TDL!” said Kugisaki excitedly.
“Idiot! TDL’s in Chiba!” shouted Itadori. He began to pose. “Let’s go to Chinatown, Sensei!”
            “Chinatown’s in Yokohama!” cried Kugisaki.
“Yokohama’s part of Tokyo!” said Itadori. “Don’t you know? Look at a map!”
“Enough! I will now announce our desination!” said Gojo dramatically.
Kugisaki and Itadori knelt before him like dutiful knights.
            “Roppongi!” announced Gojo.
“Roppongi?!” Kugisaki and Itadori were incredibly excited.
He’s toying with them, thought (Y/N).
l
            I was right.
In front of the group lay a decrepit building. The dangerous aura of curses radiated from within.
“There’s a curse here,” said Gojo.
“You liar!” shouted Kugisaki and Itadori.
“This isn’t even Roppongi!” said Itadori.
“You were toying with us country folk!” yelled Kugisaki.
“There’s a big cemetery nearby. The double whammy of that and an abandoned building brought out a curse,” explained Gojo.
“So they really do pop up more around graves?” asked Itadori.
“The issue isn’t the cemetery itself,” said Megumi, “It’s the fact that people associate cemeteries with fear.”
“Oh, it was the same for schools, too, wasn’t it?” commented Itadori.
            (Y/N) nodded.
“Hold up. He didn’t even know that yet?” asked Kugisaki.
“To be honest…” Megumi explained what Itadori had done to become part of the world of jujutsu.
“He swallowed a special-grade cursed object?” exclaimed Kugisaki. “Gross! I hope the rest of you aren’t that stupid!”
“Well, I’m half-curse, but that isn’t my fault,” said (Y/N).
            Itadori and Kugisaki blinked. “What?!”
“Did I not tell them?” (Y/N) looked to Megumi, who just shook his head. “Oh, sorry.”
“Are you not going to explain?!”
“My mom was human; my dad was a curse,” said (Y/N).
            “But…how does that work?!”
(Y/N) furrowed her brow, confused. “Well…apparently some people can have children with curses. And when two people are in love, they may—.”
“They didn’t mean that,” said Megumi.
            “Oh,” said (Y/N).
Gojo clapped. “Well, then! Now everybody knows some more about each other!” He got more serious and smirked. “Now, I want to know what all of you are capable of. Just think of this whole experience as a field test.” He turned to his students. “Nobara, Yuuji, you two go exorcise the curse inside that building.”
            “Geh,” exclaimed Kugisaki.
“Huh? But I thought only curses could exorcise curses, right?” said Itadori, “I can’t use any jujutsu yet.”
“You’re basically half a curse already like (Y/N). There’s cursed energy flowing throughout your body,” said Gojo, “though controlling that energy isn’t something you can learn overnight, so use this.” He held out a knife which (Y/N) recognized as Maki’s. “It’s the cursed tool, Slaughter Demon. It’s a weapon imbued with cursed energy. It’ll work on curses too.”
I wonder how Maki felt about lending her tool to Gojo, wondered (Y/N).
“Lame,” said Kugisaki. She turned on her heel and fastened a tool belt tighter around her waist. She and Itadori began walking in.
“Oh, and one more thing, Itadori,” said Gojo, “Don’t let Sukuna out. If you do, you’ll get rid of all the curses nearby in a flash, but you’ll also drag everyone around into it.”
“Got it.” Itadori gave his sensei a thumbs-up. “I won’t let Sukuna out.”
“Hurry it up,” said Kugisaki, already at the door.
“Okay, okay,” said Itadori, running over.
The pair disappeared into the abandoned building.
“That Yuuji,” said Gojo thoughtfully, “He’s missing a few up here.” He tapped his head. “He has no hesitation when it comes to killing these things that take the form of living creatures, albeit bizarre-looking ones, to try to kill him. And it’s not like he’s been familiar with curses for a long time, like you two. This is a boy who used to live a normal high school life. You two have seen plenty of jujutsu sorcerers, even those with talent, give up in frustration because they couldn’t conquer their fear or disgust, haven’t you?”
            Megumi and (Y/N) didn’t answer.
“So today I want to confirm how crazy she is,” finished Gojo, smirking.
“But Kugisaki has experience, right?” asked Megumi, “Little late for that now, isn’t it?”
“Curses are born from human minds,” said Gojo, “so their strength and numbers grow in proportion to the population. Do you think Nobara understands that curses in Tokyo are on a different level than those in the countryside? When I say ‘level,’ I don’t just mean the amount of cursed energy they have.”
Megumi and (Y/N) glanced over to him.
“It’s their cunning. Monsters that have gained wisdom will often force cruel choices upon you with the weight of human lives in the balance,” said the white-haired man.
Suddenly, a furry, three-legged curse jumped out from the building. Its last leg had been cut off. (Y/N) presumed Itadori’s dagger was responsible for the wound.
“I’ll exorcise it,” said Megumi calmly.
            “Hold on,” said Gojo.
Megumi and (Y/N) looked at the escaping curse in mild confusion. It burst into flames and shriveled into nothing. It had been exorcised.
“Nice,” remarked Gojo, “She’s crazy, all right.”
Interesting technique. Helpful, too, since it works from a distance, thought (Y/N). A slight smile appeared on her face. I’m glad they did well.
l
“I live over here! Thanks again!” called the little boy, running to his house. Kugisaki and Itadori had saved his life, then the whole group escorted him home.
Kugisaki tapped her foot impatiently. “Do you know I get into a foul mood when I’m hungry?”
“Well, we made sure the kid got home,” said Gojo, “Now shall we go grab some food?”
            “Steak!” shouted Itadori.
            “Sushi!” yelled Kugisaki.
“Leave it all to me!” said Gojo cheerfully. “And you two?” He looked at Megumi and (Y/N).
            “Tempura,” said (Y/N).
Megumi was going through his phone.
“Okay, let’s go!” cheered Gojo, patting Itadori and Kugisaki on their backs.
            (Y/N) tugged on Megumi’s sleeve. “Let’s go.”
He smiled slightly at her. “Right.”

Huzur
Saat 23:09
Sevgiyle.

How should I write this?
A list of some of the most common Italian grammar doubts you might have (and even Italians have) when writing.
1- qual è VS qual’è Sometimes it’s common to see the apostrophe among these two words, despite it is not a case of “elisione” (= you don’t write/say the last vowel in front of words starting with a vowel), but a simple “troncamento” (= the last vowel just drops - despite exceptions). In fact, the same happens in front of words starting with consonants (ex. qual buon vento!), and also tal, buon and pover act the same way. Qual era too doesn’t need the apostrophe, but qual’erano does (in fact this is an “elisione”, as it originates from “quali” - in fact you can write it also as “quali erano”). [ X ]
2- celeberrimo VS celebrissimo Celebre’s (=famous) superlativo assoluto [ X ]  is “celeberrimo” and not “celebrissimo”. It is one of the few adjectives (with aspro -sour- => asperrimo, for example) that uses the suffix -errimo and not the usual -issimo when turning into absolute superlative.
3- meteorologia VS metereologia, aeroplano VS aereoplano  The correct form is meteorologia, as this word originates from “meteora”; while the correct forms for all words air/plane-related start with “aero-” (from the french prefix that means “air”): aeroplano, aeroporto, aeronautica, aeromodellismo, aerosol, aerostato... The doubt originates with the habit of using the abbreviation “aereo” (from the latin aèreus) to indicate an avion, instead of saying the whole original definition “veicolo aereo” (air vehicle).
4- un po VS un po’ VS un pò Ofc the only correct form is the one with the apostrophe, un po’, as it originates from a troncamento of the word “poco” and the apostrophe shows that a syllable got dropped at the end of it. [ troncamento’s exceptions need the apostrophe ]
5- è piovuto VS ha piovuto Both are correct when you refer to rainfall (same goes for all the other verbs that express a weather condition). But use only the auxiliary verb “essere” if you mean it figuratively. Ex. Sono piovute critiche = criticism rolled in
6- Se stesso VS sé stesso You might find it without the accent before the word (aggettivo dimostrativo) “stesso”, as for someone there is no chance to mistake it for “se” in this situation, while it’s good to use “sé” when it is used alone. Tbh, to avoid confusion, it’s probably better to use the accent version anyway. [ X ]
7- “C” VS “Q” There are some words that might cause you problems on how to write them bc of their sound, and make you wonder if you have to put a “c” or a “q”. For example, these are all written with the “c”: evacuare (to evacuate), proficuo (profitable), scuotere (to shake), riscuotere (to cash in), promiscuo (promiscuous), scuola (school), innocuo (innocuous). The only Italian word with the double "q” is “soqquadro” = in disarray. If you have a water-related word, in general you have to use “cq” (as water = acqua, is written with both).: ex. sciacquare = to rinse.
8- ne VS né If you’re using it as a negation (usually a double one), then it needs the accent. If not, then use the version without the accent.  Non vado né al mare né in montagna. = I’m going neither at the sea nor on the alps. Te ne vai? = Are you going away?  [ X ] [ X ]
9- ciliegie VS ciliege, spiaggie VS spiagge The plural of feminine nouns ending with -gia and -cia (not -già or -cià) at the singular, keep the “i” when the “c” and the “g” are preceded by a vowel. When they are preceded by a consonant, they drop the “i”. So you have to write ciliegie (ciliegia = cherry), camicie (camicia = shirt), acacie (acacia) but also spiagge (spiaggia = shore, beach), gocce (goccia = drop), facce (faccia = face). Same happens with the group -scia (the “c” is always preceded by the consonant “s”) : coscia (thigh) -> cosce, fascia (band) -> fasce
10- perchè VS perché Perché has to be written, as most of the words ending with -ché (dacché, sicché, affinché...)  with the accento acuto. [ X ]
11- sopratutto VS soprattutto, anzitutto VS anzittutto... ** Another common doubt is the one about doubles and words (it has to be written as a one word or not?). There are different situations according to each word, for example: dopotutto (that can be written as “dopo tutto” as well), oltretutto, soprattutto (needs a double t also in the middle) and anzitutto (that can be found as “anzi tutto” as well).
12- da VS dà, fa VS fà... How it works: da is a preposition, dà is a verb (da’ is imperative mood); fa is the correct one, as fà is only used as a desinence for verbs (fa’ is imperative mood). [ X ]
13- a VS ad, e VS ed It is madatory to add the letter “d” only if you put the preposizione “a” in front of words starting with “a” and the conjuction “e” in front of words starting with “e”. It is not mandatory if the words following “e” and “a” start with a different vowel. [ X ]
14- si VS sì If you’re using it as a statement, you have to write “sì” (yes). Write “si” in any other situation. [ X ]
15- dasse VS desse, stasse VS stesse Subjunctive is a tough mood to conjugate, especially at the imperfetto tense. Some verbs are even more difficult to conjugate [ x, x, x, x ]. In these examples, the correct third singular person of these verbs are che egli desse and che egli stesse, (with the “e”, despite these verbs ends in -are => this might be the reason of all the doubts).
16- apostrophe: yes VS no In general, you use the apostrophe when you have an “elisione” (for example, in front of feminine nouns: ex. un’amica). It is used also to indicate the drop of part of a number as in a date: ex. Nel ‘15-’18 ( In the 1915-1918 years ).  [ elisione + troncamento’s exceptions X ] [ X ]
17- affianco VS a fianco, apposto VS a posto... ** If you mean “to the side”, the correct one is “a fianco”. Affianco is used mostly as a verb (1st singular person of “affiancare / affiancarsi” = place side by side, support). As for the other one, “a posto” means “sorted, in place” but also “tutto a posto = all is well”. Apposto is used as a past participle of the verb “apporre” = to put, to place.
18- entusiasto VS entusiasta Enthusiastic in Italian is used with the ending in -a also with singular masculine subjects. Ex. Luca è entusiasta. Entusiasto doesn’t exists, but entusiasti (plural masculine) and entusiaste (plural feminine) do both (it changes the last vowel according to the subject’s gender only at the plural, basically).
19- accelerare VS accellerare The correct form is the one with only one “l”, accelerare. Doubles are a tough matter in Italian though.
20- imparare VS insegnare Despite in some Italian regional idioms these verbs are used as equivalents more or less, to teach = insegnare, to learn = imparare. Ex. Ti insegno a leggere. = I teach you how to read ; Imparo a leggere. = I learn to read.
21- accettazzione VS accettazione In general, all the words with the suffix “-zio” and “-zione” only need one “z”: accettazione, gestazione, collutazione, attenzione, pozione....
22- scienza VS conoscenza In the words with the suffix -scenza, you don’t have to put the “i” as it is not necessary before the “e” (”sc” is read with the correct sound anyway, basically as “sh” in “shame”). ex. conoscenza, adolescenza.... In the words with the suffix -scienza, or science-related, is good to keep the “i”. ex. coscienza, fantascienza, neuroscienza...
23- eclisse VS eclissi This word (eclypse) underwent a lot of changes since the past (ecclipsi, ecclissi, eclipsi, eclisse, eclissi, eclypsi, ecrissi): it has been considered a very specific, difficult and rare noun, used in the science field, and it evolved from Greek ( ékleipsis ) into Latin ( eclīpsis ) and then into Italian mostly through books. Nowadays, the most common form used at the singular is eclissi, considered a feminine noun (l’eclissi -> elisione of la eclissi). To write eclisse is not considered a mistake btw, it is only less common. At the plural, the only correct choice is eclissi (le eclissi, plural, feminine).
** I tought it would have been nice to add some more doubtful words, even just for curiosity. So, I put a list under the keep reading link:
These words have to be written separately, with the apostrophe or not: a fianco, a meno che, a posto, a proposito, al di là, al di sopra (al disopra), al di sotto (al disotto), all'incirca, d'accordo, d'altronde, in quanto, l'altr'anno, per cui, poc'anzi, quant'altro, senz'altro, tra l'altro, tutt'altro, tutt'e due, tutt'oggi, tutt'uno
The forms affianco, ammenoché, daccordo, daltronde, pocanzi, senzaltro, tuttaltro, tuttoggi are generally classified as rare (some might be confused with other meanings, as you can see above), and therefore is better to avoid them.
These ones have to be written as a one word: abbastanza, affatto, allora, allorché, almeno, altrimenti, ancorché, apposta, appunto, benché, bensì, chissà, davanti, davvero, dinanzi / dinnanzi, dopodomani, dovunque, ebbene, eppure, fabbisogno, finché, finora, giacché, infatti, inoltre, invano, invero, laggiù, malgrado, neanche, nemmeno, neppure, nonché, oppure, ossia, ovvero, ovverosia, perciò, perfino, pertanto, piuttosto, poiché, pressappoco, purtroppo, quaggiù, qualcosa, qualora, quassù, sebbene, seppure, sicché, siccome, sissignore, soprattutto, sottosopra, talmente, talora, talvolta, tuttavia
Some other can be written in both ways (some are more commonly found written in a way than the other though): Tab legend: Forme unite = one word version Forme separate = two words version mai = never meno comune = less common meno bene = less well/good da evitare = to avoid raro = rare antiquato = obsolete registro familiare = domestic use/informal
Tumblr media
There’s also the exclamation “vabbè”, contracted form of “va bene”, which is better written as a one word and not as “va beh, va bè”...
