I might ship them now. It's hopeless and a useless ship but dear lord I love gangster x doctor romance as a concept and the 'done with your shit doctor' who's seen him at every spot in his life and the 'retired but still more than a little psycho' gangster feels like a romance tailor made for Taiwan.

Love confession? Love confession.

YOU ARE MINE (2024, TAIWAN)
Episode 11 (SPECIAL EPISODE, GAGAOOLALA)
So, this series ended last year. There was no side couple.
Suddenly in the special episode (airing on Gagaoolala)
Shang Zhou's driver Yang (BOBO LUO) and Shang Zhou's friend and company executive Li Hui Wang (YORKE SUN) make googly eyes and hints of a relationship brewing between them.
That said the series is over. The special episode likewise is over. Do I smell a sequel brewing? It can't be. Right?
Well I'll just leave this here.

Currently Watching - November
aka The Masterlist
Because I love a good little list - in alphabetical order! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 30.11.2023
A little link to my favorite bl-tropes-collection 💙
Here you can find all of my gifs.
And if you want to show me something you think I might like, just let me know with #josistag
At the end you can have a look at what we can expect in November with MDL links and a link for the trailer (if avaible). There are 18 coming up series this november... Sleep I love you, but we are going seperate ways this month!
This is guaranteed to contain spoilers!
1. 7 Days before Valentine (1/12 WeTV)
Hm... This was not what I expected. The acting was a little bit over the top. I don't know if I can stand Sunshine. The feeling this first episode gave me was kinda off. I don't know. Right now I don't know if I want to keep watching it.
2. Bake me please (2/6 on Gaga)
This series is so good! I really like Ohm and Guide together. Guide is such a sunshine and I like his character! This series deals with a lot of baking and childhood trauma and a sunshine and grumpy main couple and I love it!
3. Boys Like Boys (8/10 on Gaga)
Okay, I am officially invested! The story of eight taiwanese men who are on the search for love. It is messy and funny and of course I have my favorites! I wish I had waited for the show to finish, because then I could have watched the final and know if I can keep my hopes up or not... And there are twists and turns and some butterflies and I can't wait for the next episode.
4. Cooking Crush (1/12 on Youtube)
I have to admit beside Not Me, I am not the biggest fan of OffGun. Their slapstick humour is just not mine. I can't get the right feeling for this series right now. I will wait and see how it turns out with more episodes...
5. Last Twilight (3/12 on Youtube)
I got fucking emotional when Mhok read from The Little Prince and they had this whole big conversation through the book and I am in tears just thinking about it. The Little Prince is very special for me.
6. Pit Babe (2/13 on Youtube)
Ladies and Gentlemen! We have an Omegaverse! I am still in shock! I usually don't dive into the omegaverse, but I did read some webtoons. I am curious how they'll play it out. The first episode... I don't understand shit! I have no clue, what is going on. There are intrigues going on and I don't trust Charlie at the moment. But I couldn't care less because: Pavel! He could just sit there or walk in his driver's uniform and I would be happy!
7. Playboyy (3/14 on Gaga)
I am intrigued! I needed to call my best friend and tell her about what I have seen. Not just the amount of sex and masturbation and wet dreams, but the way it is filmed. I am intruígued! It looks like a romantic dream combined with porn. And I am looking forward to next week and the weeks to come, because it is so interesting!
8. The Sign (1/12 on Youtube)
I am already in love with this series! Mystical elements, a good chemistry between the actors, some fighting, naked men... What else could I wish for... Oh yeah, and an accidental kiss 😂 But I still enjoyed it so much! And I can't wait fot next week!
9. Twins (4/12 on Gaga)
I don't know what it is. The story is... nothing special. The acting is okayish. Sprite's/Zee's facial expression need some time to get used to. And yet, I like this show! It is one of my most anticipated watches of the week. I like First and I LOVE enemies to lovers 😅 It is one of my weak spots!
Finished in November
Series
1. I feel you linger in the air (12/12 on Gaga)
This is one of my favorite series from this year, if not the best one! It is such a good and well written story about love and building a home, trusting in love and people again, fight against the rules and love the people who deserve your love. I am not as heartbroken than I thought, but I miss them already, like five minutes after it ended. Jom and Yai's love is a love that can overcome all kinds of barriers like time and I love that so much! I love this series so so much! And they confirmed a second season? Now I am afraid and excited? A true 10 out of 10!
2. Dangerous Romance (12/12 on Youtube)
I like Perth and Chimon together, even though their characters can be a little bit cheesy or bromancy. Over all I liked the series, even though I was searching for the danger in the romance. It lost a litle bit of the tension in its second half. Not a bad series, but also nothing special. A solid 7 out of 10.
3. Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo / If it's with you (5/5 on Gaga)
It is sweet and has the typical japanese vibe, you know? The crickets and circades are very much present in the the background and it feels kind of cosy. My japanese vibe. The story itself is sweet. I like the fact that the Amane is open and sure about his sexuality, even though he has experienced homophobia and tries to hide behind a smiling mask. This is a really wholesome watch for the coming darker days. I gave it a 9 out of 10.
4. Kiseki: Dear to me (12/13 on Viki and Gaga)
Okay, this series started strong for me and got really messy and lame in the second half... Well, way before this to be honest. The only reason I was watching in the end were Ai Di and Chen Yi. Their relationship was such a great add up to this mess. Yes, it was messy and I wish they would have communicated earlier, but I love their tenderness and their love in the end. The main couple... I really couldn't care less in the end. And the story was... not that interesting and a little bit confusing at times. Overall an 7,5 out of 10 and that's because of Ai Di and Cen Yi.
5. You are mine (10/10 on Viki and Gaga)
The lovestory between a very demanding chef, who terrorise his employees and his easygoing new male secretary who can give good massages. And the lack of communication is really bothering me at this point. Instead of just going after your secretary, perhaps try and talk to him about your feelings? Argh... Okay, the last episode was just a display of affection and fluff and it was really cute. But it couldn't help a bad series to become a good one. They can kiss, yes, but overall it was not that good. So just a 5,5 out of 10 for me.
6. A Breeze Of Love (8/8 on iQiyi)
I love this one! It is short and cute and for once I understand the problem. The execution was a little whacky, but hey, I really don't care because it was just that cute! The two mains have very good chemistry and are believable. And I am totally in love with them. It has sport and kind of enemies to lovers so checks for me and it is korean. Yeah, that is definitely worth a watch and I guess I will rewatch it from time to time, whenever I need something wholesome and cute. A 10 out of 10 for me.
7. One Room Angel (6/6 on Gaga)
It started out as a very depressing series. It kept this feeling through the whole show, but it never said, that it has to be like that forever. There were always hints, that life can get better. That you are enough and that you are worth it, worth of living, worth of loving and worth of being loved. I mean it ended with this line: I received and was able to give. Even someone like me had something I can do. So probably, life isn't so bad." And that was the point where I lost it completely. A solid 8 out of 10 for me.
Movie
1. Aki wa Haru to Gohan wo Tabetai
This one is a sweet and quiet movie. Well the character Aki is not that quiet, but in this movie there is not that much drama or angst. It is stacked with food and I got so hungry watching it! The food really looks delicious! It is not a bromance. You definitely can see that these two love each other and there are so many hints, that they want to spend the rest of their lives together. And as far as I know there should be a second movie. Fingers crossed! For me a solid 7,5 out of 10

This Week In BL
June 2021 Wk 2
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Y-Destiny Ep 11 - a timeslip friends-to-lovers episode, interesting. I do like that YD is exploring unique concepts for BL. I thought the use of anime for the past rather than child actors was smart given the subtext, but wtf subtext? Switching to English in times of extreme intimacy was fun too, although I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe because it threw up a culture contrast between the language and the innately Thai gestures they were doing at the same time (like the cheek snuffle)? (On a side note did you notice how extremely articulate both actors were with Thai as well as English? Very pretty orators, these two.) I really like this pair A LOT. The plot though? Ohboy. Childish innocent in body of adult but... is actually a child? Gives creepy a new meaning. I keep thinking about the 80s movie Big. That scene didn’t work in Big either. (It’s a bummer because it really does work as a couple of teens discovering their sexuality.)
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 10 - Mork finally has a reason for liking Pi, it’s just weak. Maybe that’s where my annoyance comes from, this is a weak show with poor story but good actors and GMMTV’s money, a contrast that makes it consistently disappointing. Like My Gear and Your Gown all over again, only worse. They didn’t need to shoehorn secret relationship trope into this series at all, but they did just to get situational comedy and that’s not an adequate reason. This show is a bummer because Phuwin really acts a great goofball, and Pond does noble pining well, the script is just failing them.
Top Secret Together Ep 5 - dropped with subs this week (yeah!) and introduced a new couple (totally unnecessary). I always think an excess of couples means they don’t have confidence in the main pair, which doesn’t makes sense with this show, since everyone is solid. Anyway, we getting bloated in a Gen Y kinda way but I’m stil enjoying it. My favorites got an “outsider assumes you’re a couple” moment which made me happy.
Nitiman Ep 6 - There’s a lot of limping in this BL. Yes yes injured ankles = allegory for limping injured relationship, I gets it. Then they doused us with singing feelings + lots of moot pining. Plus surprise Kao (from Oxygen) and, since it’s ep 6, a kiss. It was a lot but this is still my favorite BL right now. It’s so flipping D/s, alright? Jin was like “Bbomb, you can’t commit to being a Dom and then absent yourself from care responsibilities, even as a punishment, you gotta communicate.” Look at my boy dolling out kink life lessons. I love Jin. I love this flirty confused af big bi baby. Okay? Okay.  Still, what inquiring minds want to know is: Will we ever know what is UP with Kheam (or whether to spell his name with or without the h)?
Side note: I know it’s a pipe dream at this juncture but seeing Turbo in Nitman (Jay) I really do think he’d be a great Izumi if Thailand ever does do that remake of Love Stage. I want them to do the original (manga or anime) mind you, not the live action version. And Kaownah would make for a lovable puppy-ish Ryouma. Ah well, if wishes were BLs... there’d be a lot more Thai adaptations of Japanese yaoi in my life in general.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Monster in Law AKA Mẹ Chồn Dâu Cáo (Vietnam) Ep 6 - continues to be cute (slow to sub but cute). Oh the trials of gay domesticity. I love it when a show justifies my own intense dislike of both marriage and children. So far this one is doing that while still managing to bring on the queer af family charm.
Love is Science? (Taiwan) Ep 11 (BL subplot) - DELAYED, but a new one is supposed to drop next week. Good thing too, I was going into cute-suit withdrawal.
Be Loved in House: I Do (Taiwan) Ep 5 - possibly one of the sexiest yet sweetest versions of the wet towel sponge bath trope I’ve seen in a long time. Plus I love how well they are redeeming the tsundere uke and the grumpy seme by making them both, secretly, the biggest softies ever. I take back what I said last week about this not being a favorite. This ep was a game changer. This show is great and I am so grateful we’re getting a full 12 eps of it.
Friend or Lover (Taiwan) Ep 3 - been waiting for this for a while, indie project that they seem to drop only once a month or so. It’s really sweet low budget but quite Taiwanese so enjoyable.
My Lascivious Boss (Vietnam) Ep 10 fin - sad to see this one end but it’s really good! You Are Ma Boy might still be my favorite from Vietnam but this show really had some crazy great queer rep, so I gotta give it extra rainbow stars. Full review here. RECOMMENDED with reservations.

Breaking News
Gaya Sa Pelikula AKA Like in the Movies announced a 3 part special airing June 11, 18, 25 on Globe Studio’s YouTube channel. It’s a “making of” BTS.
Lovely Writer special ep aired on June 9th. It was cute if largely unnecessary. Like the Cherry Magic special episodes, this one is fine if you want to track it down but you’re not missing much.
Made in Rooftop is a new Korean BL that I can’t believe I didn’t know was coming! It looks a bit like Korea does a light, bright version of Life: Love on the Line. Could lean a bit Queer as Folk? We got us a manic pixie dream boy + upright serious (but lost) out gay characters. MDL has it listed as a movie, their description is pants, but this trailer on Insta gives an idea what it’s about (trailer is also on YouTube but may not last there). Thanks to @crapyouknowme for the tip.
Tumblr media
Gossip
Just a quick update to add I just learned about Fahlanruk the series (AKA Fhalanruk) form @heretherebedork. It’s slated for 2022 but it already has a fundraising trailer. Looks to be a strong contender in the Thai BL pulp arena. It’s using tropes we rarely see for the mains (one night stand + friends with benefits), and it tonally seems like a combination of Nitiman and the Y-Destiny players episode. I like sexually messy and identity confused college dramas (Love Mechanics for the win) but none of this is popular with BL main, and I suspect tastemakers know that. So Fahlanruk might struggle to find funding.

Next Week Looks Like This:
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International subs accessibility reasons.

Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.

(I had to include this quote from Top Secret Together because I love it so much. It is such a classic grumpy seme complaining about a puppy uke.)

A Guide to the HIStory Series
I remember when I first started getting into BL and everyone talked about the HIStory series, but I was a bit confused on what it was all about.
So here's a breakdown:
First of all, the HIStory series is made up of multiple unrelated stories, so you can watch in any order and pick and choose what story lines interest you the most. You can watch all seasons on Viki free with ads.
HIStory1 (the first season) consists of 3 different stories, each with 4 20 minute episodes.
HIStory1: My Hero; After a girl dies, her soul takes over the body of a boy to try to be with her boyfriend again. She has 1 week to make him fall in love with her in this new body or else both she and the boy will die. [SPOILER]: She soon finds out that this boy has had a crush on her boyfriend for a while and decides to let the two men be together.
HIStory1: Stay Away From Me; Two new step brothers move in together when their parents go on their honeymoon. When one of their friends tries to push them together due to her BL fanfic dream, they start to question their feelings for one another.
HIStory1: Obsessed; After a man dies, he is thrown back 9 years in the past and tries to change his life by avoiding his boyfriend, but different circumstances still try to bring them together.
HIStory2 consists of 2 different stories with 8 25 minute episodes each.
HIStory2: Right or Wrong; Feeling start to grow between a single father/professor and his nanny/student as they spend time together raising his 8 year old daughter.
HIStory2: Crossing The Line; An ex volleyball player who had to give up his dreams due to an injury meets a player who he thinks can achieve what he once wanted to and tries to help him.
HIStory3 consists of 2 stories with 10 25 minute episodes each (My Drama List has them listed with 20 episodes each, but it's just 10).
HIStory3: Trapped; A police officer ends up entangled with a gang leader as he investigates the murder of his mentor. *my personal favorite of the HIStory series, though it has a distinctly different vibe from the other entries
HIStory3: Make Our Days Count; Two opposite high school students, one an unruly extrovert, the other a studious introvert, find their paths crossing and become curious about the each other. *Arguably the most popular story in the HIStory series
HIStory4 consists of just one story with 10 24 minute episodes (again listed incorrectly as 20 episodes on My Drama List).
HIStory4: Close To You; two co-workers, long time friends and roommates agree to fake date to gain the attention of a fujoshi they work with. Meanwhile, their third roommate and coworker deals with the attentions of his younger step brother. CW: step sibling incest, r*pe & dubious consent
There have also been rumors of a second season of Make Our Days Count as a part two of HIStory4, but nothing has been confirmed and at this point it is unlikely.
Additional Content:
HIStory3: Trapped, HIStory3: Make Our Days Count and HIStory4: Close to you all have behind the scenes specials.
If you're looking for more like this, I recommend Because of You (2020 Taiwanese BL) and We Best Love. If you're specifically looking for more like HIStory3: Trapped, check out my post of KinnPorsche recs HERE.
Anything I should add to this post?

Fragrance of The First Flower - Taiwanese GL - Lesbian Drama
Fragrance of the First Flower - Taiwanese GL
Director: Angel I-Han Teng
Cast: ZaiZai Li (Bisexual irl), Lyan Chen, Lee Yi
"Fragrance of the First Flower" reveals the love and lust between two women, the conflicts between gay family and traditional stereotypes. It finds back the forgotten love with a romantic touch.
youtube
Yi-Ming, whose husband works outside of town, lives alone with her son. After years apart, she reconnects with Ting-Ting at a wedding, a girl she was intimate with back in high school. The encounter with Ting-Ting not only sets Yi-Ming free from her oppressive marriage but also reawakens her feelings for Ting-Ting. Now that Taiwan has finally legalized same-sex marriage, will Yi-Ming have the courage to change her life ?
Teng also wanted to add some non-gender related elements from her personal life into the film to further break stereotypes — Yi-ming’s son has some autistic tendencies, but Teng draws from her educational background to create a character that differs greatly from most people’s impressions of an autistic child.
The six-episode mini-drama series made headlines earlier as Taiwan’s first title to be officially selected to the prestigious French Series Mania International Festival.

Rec List Request
A personalised list for @jammy-boy 🥰 could be of interest to others, so enjoy!
Basic requirements: - just finished and loved SOTUS - is Arthur/Merlin trash - loves a twist or reversal of classic “power-dynamic” - loves angst with happy ending ______________________________
Tumblr media
Theory of Love
Film student Third (Gun) has been secretly in love with his best friend Khai (Off) for three years, but Khai is straight, a massive player, and a total arsehole if we’re being honest. This starts painful, but then they start playing around with tropes and expectations and then it changes POV which just HITS so hard and completely changes your whole perception. You know the movie Flipped? It references that, and then does the flip - so good.
Knowing the level of pining, pain and angst that you love (plus your background in film studies) I feel like this is required viewing. Get out the tissues. But also, it’s still really funny and cute/dumb (cause gmmtv) and the production was excellent. Also, Off/Gun are PEAK natural chemistry and Gun is such an incredible actor that watching him cry or yell at someone is still preferable to other actors being happy.

He’s Coming To Me
Precious baby boi Singto plays Med, a ghost, who is is stuck in limbo for 20 years - until he meets a boy who can see him, Thun (my baby boi Ohm) who promises to help him figure out his unfinished business and cross over. And then they were roommates! And then they start falling in love and it’s ANGSTY because they know Med will have to leave one day. Ouch, my heart.
You will enjoy the mixture of domestic fluff and tragic angst in this. But don’t worry it has a happy ending (kind of, I think, from memory haha). Also, you will enjoy the fact that they can’t touch (cause, ghost) which is *chefs kiss* except for moments of heightened emotions when Thun’s powers become strong enough that he can touch Med (FUCK YES, THIS TROPE IS EVERYTHING)
After much whining from fans, they put it up on Youtube haha so watch HERE.

Until We Meet Again
ANNGST. RE.IN.CAR.NA.TION. ANGST. What else do you need to know?!?! Reincarnated soulmates trope?!!? HELLO!?!?  It’s so beautiful. I’m still not over it. And yes it has a happy ending, it starts super sad, then ends up super fluffy and the romantic fluffy moments oh god it’s so romantic. I know you love like soft domestic food sharing etc - this show is ALL about the cooking.
The casting, the characterisation, the acting, the story, the music, even the friendship group and the side-couple, it’s perfection *chefs kiss* PERFECTION

A Tale of A Thousand Stars
After the lovely volunteer teacher Torfun dies (RIP poor torfun) in a tragic accident, her heart is transplanted into selfish pretty rich boy Tian (played by the beautiful Mix). After learning of her selfless character, he feels guilt and shame for living (the angst is very real) and makes it his mission to complete her life’s wishes and follow in her footsteps.
As the new village volunteer teacher, he then falls in love with the very handsome and very shirtless chief Phupha (Earth), who lives to protect the trees, we stan an environmental man. Angst, fluff, complications, and many miscommunications ensue. I was tearing my hair out by the end of this show. Yes, it has a happy ending (eventually). Earth x Mix was a pairing we did not know we even wanted or needed until this show happened and now I cry every time I see a picture of them together. Every single time Phupha looks at Tian in this show I literally tear up. HE LOVES HIM SO MUUUUUCHHH *crying again*

I Told Sunset About You
Childhood best-friends, turned enemies (for stupid kid reasons), to lovers. This is ANGSTY but so fucking beautiful it’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t even class this as “BL” because it doesn’t have any of the standard tropes, and there’s no silly sound-effects or innuendo jokes. This is like genuine lgbt+ indie-film realness. You can honestly just watch it for the cinematography and the music. The AESTHETIC of this show is what truly makes it special. The symbolism, the colours, this show said CINEMA. And the sexual tension is absolutely WILD. You will live for the angst (with a happy ending). And no, do not bother watching season 2, it’s perfect as a stand-alone mini-series. (I’m still upset).

and now for some stand-out non-Thai series...

Where Your Eyes Linger
Korea has gotten on the BL train, and has now made a whole bunch of viki mini-series that are all cute but this one is right up your alley. This is VERY merthur. It’s literally servant/master, bodyguard/prince trope. But, I thought the characterisation was nicely thought out and wasn’t what I was expecting. The tension is palpable, the angst is juicy, and the soft kdrama vibes are cheesy and wonderful. Angst with a happy ending (of course).

HIStory 3: Trapped
So the Taiwanese HIStory series has been around forever, and I love the whole series (History 2: Crossing The Line is my all time fav). But for youuuu, I think the most appropriate is Trapped. Police detective single-mindedly obsessed with a gang leader? Yes please. But whatever power-dynamic expectations you would have of a police/criminal couple are twisted and warped immediately! This series is so endearing, it’s mostly comedy/action, and whilst it has plenty of angst, mostly it’s just CUTE as fuck. Also the side couple are adorable too!
The whole History series is on Viki now yay!

The Untamed
Look, I KNOW 50 episodes of plot-heavy chinese historical fantasy is a lot. But there’s a reason this show was soooo popular. It only took me like 3 attempts and a whole ass “guide” pdf to figure out what the fuck was happening in the first ep cause its non-linear. But, if you are in the right mood (ie; sick, or in lockdown) and need something to get completely LOST in for like a week, then watch this haha. I know you couldn’t make it through Guardian, but maybe this one will hit the spot.
This has all the angsty character tropes you live for. And cause it’s censored, there’s no actual romance, so instead it’s just the best kind of UST, character driven, emotional soulmate angst. To summarise: Wei Wuxian is; adopted, a trouble-maker, impetuous, head-strong, fun-loving, has a martyr complex and wants to save everyone. Meanwhile, Lan Zhan is; lawful good to a fault, stoic, shy, and has a martyr complex about saving Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian ONLY. Now throw them into the middle of supernatural / political turmoil and see what happens. Well I’ll tell you what happens, Wei Wuxian becomes the “villain”, gets killed, and Lan Zhan spends 16 years looking for him. FUCKING KILL ME OKAY. (No, that’s not a spoiler it happens in the first episode haha)
Do NOT watch on Netflix the subs are trash. Watch on Youtube or Viki

This list may seem long but I was VERY reserved in my selection okay you have no idea how tiny this tip of the iceberg is 😂
Also, knowing your love of no-touching, tension, and angst. I would also briefly draw your attention so School 2013 in my bromance list which is the single most angsty show about friendship ever made.
Enjoy!

At the end you can have a look at what we can expect in September with MDL link and a link for a trailer (if avaible).
This is guaranteed to contain spoilers!
1. Boys Like Boys (4/10 on Gaga)
the story of eight taiwanese men who are on the search for love. It is messy and funny and of course I have my favorites! I wish I had waited for the show to finish, because then I could have watched the final and know if I can keep my hopes up or not...
2. Dangerous Romance (Ep 10/12 on Youtube)
The lovestory between a bully with daddy-issues and a boy who has nothing to lose and who is quite a badass.
3. I feel you linger in the air (11/12 on Gaga)
The lovestory that overcomes the time barrier between a rich man with the biggest heart-eyes and a time-traveller whose love life could have been better.
4. Kimi to Nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo / If it's with you (4/5 on Gaga)
The lovestory between Amane, a very open and sex-positiv young man with trauma that keeps him from allowing himself to fall in love with another person and Ryuji, the person he is attracted to and slowly starts to fall in love with.
5. Kiseki: Dear to me (12/13 on Viki)
The lovestories between a member of a mafia and a college boy and between two gangsters who have far too little screen time!
6. One Room Angel (2/8 on Gaga)
The lovestory between a man full of regrets and with a lost goal in life and an angel, who lost his memory and can't figure out what his real purpose is. Besides that, the angel can't fly anymore, because the emotions of people near him have negative or positive influence on him and Koki's emotions are quite negative.
7. You are mine (8/10 on Viki)
The lovestory between a very demanding chef, who terrorise his employees and his easygoing new male secretary who can give good massages.
Finished in October
Series
1. Bon Appetit (8/8 on iQiyi)
The lovestory between a chef and his neighbour, who are indeed college friends, but lost sight of each other. The chef has a very dedicated relationship to food and tends to overreact when it comes to act of services and the appreciation from the other person. The reason why I couldn't give this series a higher rate. It was cute and good acted and until ep 7 I would have given it a ten out of ten, but the end conflict was just stupid and I can't deal with it. So in the end an 8 out of 10 for me.
2. Wedding Plan (8/8 on iQiyi)
The lovestory between a groom and his wedding planner. I get why people don't like it, the main problem could have been solved way earlier and Lom was a little bit stupid, but I loved it. I love these two together and I love the tension and the chemistry and the story with some compromises. I won't defend it, but I will keep it in a special place in my heart. 10 out of 10 for me.
3. Taikan Yoho / My Personal Weatherman (7/8 on Viki and Gaga)
The lovestory between an emotionally complicated weatherman and his devoted, but also emotionally complicated partner. It was an interesting ride and I enjoyed it very much. It would be lovely if they could have communicated a little bit more about their dynamics, but in the end they did and I loved it! A 8,5 out of 10 for me.
4. Bump Up Business (8/8)
The lovestory between a k-pop duo, who start as a fake couple and develope feelings during their time together. I love the fact this is a project with OnlyOneOf and they play the leads and all the other characters. I love that there is infact a kiss. I love the idea behind this, the fake dating. But the series was too cringy for me. Eden is beautiful, but naiv and takes some time to get things. That can be adorable, but in combination with the, most of the times, colder Jihoon, who doesn't really show his real emotions, it can be a little bit difficult to watch. And the ending was a little bit...unspectacular... Just a 6,5 out of 10 for me.
5. Only Friends (12/12 on Youtube)
This series was such a let down for me. It started strong, but with the second half it lost its way. At least it felt like it had. The characters were all toxic af, but the only one who felt real consequences was Boston. That felt not right. Mew became such an unlovable character for me. Ray was using Sand and Sand was using Ray. And Top... Well, I kind of liked him in the end. But overall nothing I would recommend or rewatch. Only a 5 out of 10 for me.
Movie
1. Utsukushii Kare: Eternal (on Viki & Gaga)
The love story between Kiyoi, an upcoming actor and Hira, a soon to be photographer whose most beloved subject to take photos off is Kiyoi. And with the last installment of their relationship we finally see the growth I was waiting for, for them to be finally equal. A really well done closure for this series! 9 out of 10 for me.
Short Film
Rewatched in October
Dropped/On-Hold in October
1. Absolute Zero (3/12 on iQiyi)
The lovestrory between highschool sweethearts, whose love is not destined to last forever. And weirdly the lovestory between one of them travelling back in time and getting close to his future boyfriend...I am confused and a little bit weirded out. I don't like the vibe this story is giving me. So for now it is dropped...
Looking forward to in October
