“61% of bisexual women and 44% of lesbian women surveyed in 2013 reported some type of intimate partner violence (IPV) compared to 35% of straight women. Intimate partner violence includes emotional/verbal abuse, physical abuse, stalking, sexual assault, and more. So, why don’t we know that queer relationships have such high rates of abuse? For starters, physical abusers are often portrayed as violent men, so along with many other misconceptions about women-loving-women (WLW) relationships, many people have trouble understanding why and how this abuse may occur. It’s especially dangerous when queer women themselves are conditioned to treat their own unhealthy situation differently than a heterosexual couple might.
Around 44% of lesbian and 61% of bisexual women have experienced forms of rape and physical violence by an intimate partner as compared to 35% of straight women.”
As we can see, clearly straight women have been abused less, therefore only confirming that the lesbian partner is most likely to be the responsible one of the abuse. Gay men have the lowest amount of DV. Women are the problem lol. Women also abuse children at more than double the rate of men, and initiate domestic violence 70% of the time in straight relationships. Interesting.

STFU with badly done 'scientific' studies that don't even start off by defining the definition of lesbian. Most of the women in this study were with MALES. They experienced violence with MALES. To add to it, no study on 'lesbians' is going to be accurate since they never study stats on gold star lesbians (aka actual lesbians).

With what information are you concluding that the lesbian partners specifically are the sole ones responsible for the abuse within female same-sex relationships? What about the bisexual women? Could a bisexual woman not theoretically, in some cases, maybe carry over the abuse she inflicted on a man to her relationship with a woman?
Does this data have the bisexual and lesbian-identified women compare the rates of abuse within both their past heterosexual relationships and same-sex relationships? Do the questions asked of them select for IPV in relationships with other women only?
All I see is evidence that women in general, regardless of sexuality, are not held accountable enough for any violence they commit and that their abusive tendencies are often downplayed, ignored, or outright denied to even exist.
It's a woman problem.
It's a society coddling women and seeing us as inherently virtuous and nonviolent problem.
You mention child abuse rates. Most women responsible for children are straight.

Getting and giving consent doesn’t just happen when things are starting to get sexy — it’s got to happen the whole time, every time. That means checking in with your partner to make sure everything that’s happening is still okay. And if they pause or don’t say yes, it’s time to stop and check in with your partner.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! Teen DV Month (sometimes called TDVAM) is a national effort to raise awareness about abuse in teen and 20-something relationships and promote programs that prevent it.
The theme for 2018 is: “Hands Unite: Do your Part.”
Loveisrespect wants to empower young people to build healthy relationships from the ground up. Your hands are a tool for creation, and they play a role in ending dating abuse. Your hands are made for loving and helping—not hurting the ones you love.
We invite you to heal, love and share the power your hands have to create meaningful relationships, raise awareness and educate others. Remember, everyone has a hand in ending dating violence!
We hope you’ll join the conversation! Learn more here!

Consenting and asking for consent are all about setting your personal boundaries and respecting those of your partner — and checking in if you're not sure. Consent is a clear, enthusiastic, and you can always stop doing something or change your mind — even if you’ve done it before.
