The siblings look amongst themselves and decide it was one of the twins missing. The youngest of the triplets shrugs, "we don't know where he went."

"Clearly, you don't even care where he went. You will get in trouble with your mother if she hears of this."

"No," the second triplet answers, "you will, cousin."

Aemond's nose flares as he narrows his eyes yet again.

"Aemond," the only girl in the row raises her hand.

"Yes, my love?"

"My braid is falling out," she raises her blonde hair. The flowers Aemond had placed in it moments ago fall. Sequentially, her lip quivers and tears prick in her eyes.

"Oh no," "Don't cry," "It's okay," and things along this line are spoken by the little girl's infinite supply of brothers.

Aemond can only watch as the boys come upon her, picking up her flowers and trying to fix her hair.

"NO I WANT AEMOND TO FIX MY HAIR!" she whines, full on breaking into a sob.

The boys turn to their him in panic. Aemond swiftly picks the girl up in his arms.

"Right," he mutters to the boys as he rocks the child too soothe her. She latches onto him as Aemond continues, "have you lot retrieved what I asked you to?"

He hums, readjusting the girl in his arms to look at her, "well it seems no one will ride Vhagar today-"

A stampede of children run up to my skirt. The girl in Aemond's arms wrangle away from him. Once she is released, she runs up to me, flashing her teary eyes and pout.

Aemond gulps roughly.

The boys look up at me and one asks, "why?"

"Well, that is a question for your father," I dismiss, cocking my head to the side, "come along. It is time to feed the wolves."

The children cheer, falling into conversation about their direwolves. I turn to Aemond, who was rubbing his temples, stressed by the noise I suppose. I watch as my daughter comes up to him and grabs his hand.

"Aemond, if you still wish to indulge my daughter, you may take her up the chambers while the rest of us head to the wolf den."

"But I want to see the wolfies too, mummy!"

Aemond chuckles airily, shaking his head, "then off to the wolfies."

"But you clearly seem distressed-"

"I assure you, my princess," Aemond reaches his hand out to me. I place my hand in his. He presses a kiss at the back of my hand, "no distress is possible in your presence."

- i know the entire thing abt the daltons is how theyre only distinguished from each other when it comes to height but i love playing around w the idea that they have like. subtle differences in their appearance that you wont notice unless you squint and use a telescope. like william having heterochromia, jack having freckles and joe having beauty marks and whatnot (cant think of anything for averell when it comes to this trope sorry </3)

- aroacespec gay lucky luke is so real and true and my alltime fave sexuality hc. also a little transgenderism for him as a treat. sometimes

- i dont like the modern daltons cartoon (it kinda sucks) but i really really like how they characterized william in it (bookworm and man of many talents iirc) and i really like the idea of him potentially being a graduate/of higher education but sticking with his brothers out of loyalty/peer pressure (<- potential for him to be the black sheep of his family and give him more character than in the comics and the old cartoons)

I think you're right. Hueco Mundo would be pretty silent. I mean, it's not like hollows really have a use for music.

As for what music he would listen to first...I think if he was hanging out with Ichigo, they would end up listening to some rock. Like, I really can picture them both enjoying rock music. Of course, initially, Grimmjow is hesitant because what the fuck is this kurosaki are you trying to kill me with noise???? But then he starts to warm up to it and even enjoy it. And when he finally decides to look up some on his own (maybe he steals Ichigo's computer for a day, or maybe Urahara has one he can borrow, who knows...lol) I think he would fall down the rabbit hole and end up listening to punk rock and metal. And he would love it. There is something so instinctual about the heavier sound of the music, it hits the emotions he is so familiar with: anger, grief, frustration, overthrowing an asshole...one of these is not quite like the others... Also I just love the idea of punk-rock Grimmjow (piercings and tattoos included!). Anyway, I really have a few songs I think he would listen to that fall into those song genres: (I'll include links in case you haven't heard them and want to listen) (warning for loud music/contains screaming)

Now, those are the kinds of songs he likes when he and Ichigo spar or, on certain days, go to the human-world Gym. (Personally think Grimm would love the gym. He gets to show off his strength in front of strangers? Compete with Ichigo in various ways? And look at himself in floor to ceiling mirrors while lifting? Hell to the yes. Grimmjow is proud and a bit self-centered.)

But I also think that one day, he's just chilling with Orihime (because yes, they should be besties in my not so humble opinion)and she's like, "oh I'll put on some music and we can just relax". And Grimmjow is like "...relax? wtf does that mean". And he's expecting guitar and drums, because that's what he's used to. What he doesn't expect is for Orihime to put on Moonlight by Yiruma. But when he hears it, it reminds him of the solitude and serenity of staring out across the sand dunes in Hueco Mundo, during the times when he didn't have to be afraid. It's peaceful, it's soothing. And that's how Grimmjow starts to get into piano and instrumental music.

He keeps digging and digging. Listening to music like he's going deaf and wants to hear every piece in the world before he can't.

Eventually, he stumbles across Lindsey Stirling's violin cover of My Immortal. He's heard the original, even heard some good covers, but I think he would find the violin version especially pretty. There's something in the way the melody goes that really touches on the dark inner feelings of desperation, loneliness, and longing. Those are feelings I'm sure he knows and understands well, and I think the lack of words in that version connects to him even more because it's like he can put in his own words, his own thoughts. It's powerful. He likes it. He starts to listen to her other covers and original songs, and finds he enjoys the variety, particularly the dubstep stuff. It's fun but beautiful at the same time, and hearing the violin like that always brings him back to My Immortal and the emotions it made him feel.

And that, my friend, is how I think Grimmjow would end up being into dubstep violin.

As for musical activities, well I don't think Grimmjow would have the patience to take lessons on an instrument, especially as the results can take lots and lots of practice and might not be noticeable right away. He strikes me as someone who very much has to see his progress. Though, with the right motivation (impressing - I mean beating a certain substitute shinigami) I think he could do it.

I think concerts would confuse him at first, because why would humans want to stand in a crowd with other weird smelly humans and listen to music when they could do it in far less claustrophobic conditions? But his first time in a mosh pit might change his mind :)

Artie was naturally feral. When he popped out of the ground, he wandered aimlessly until his mother found him

“There you are” and she dragged him back to her camp where his brothers were

He didn’t know them so he bit them

His only socialization for awhile was his mom and brothers so he didn’t exactly get to meet humans right off the bat the way other nations did as kids!

He often had chipped teeth from biting rocks or bones. His mom thought it was cute

Arthur didn’t get along with the village kids cause he was...rabid and they were not. They had traditions and a langauge and stuff like that and Art (along with his brothers) didn’t understand it...aw

He grew up pretty wild too, his pirate years were definitely some of his craziest cause he got to pretty much do whatever without consequences

Sometimes he’d cut off a finger or toe of someone he fought and wear it on a necklace. It fucking REEKED and his crew would be like dude that’s nasty but he didn’t care

He also did a lot of drugs. As a treat. He often looks back on his actions and cringes but he had a lot of fun lmao

Alfred:

When Alfred first popped out of the ground the first thing he learned to do was run

He just...ran around, sprinting like a bat outta hell through the woods. Rocks and sticks stabbed into his feet and twigs slapped him him the face

And when he got hungry he tackled a squirrel and bit it oh god uhhhh

He popped up about 5 miles from a tribe of Natives who were like...scared of him at first. Cause when a bloody child emerges from the forest at 4am, that’s not exactly a good thing

They thought he was a monster or something but after they gave him some clothes and food, he settled down by the fire and calmed down a considerable amount so...they didn’t have the heart to kick him out

He got along great with everyone! He was naturally curious, always wandering between people to check out what they were doing. He helped with tasks here and there from skinning deer to braiding hair

They were surprised by how quick he picked up on things. After only two days of teaching, he could expertly braid hair. After living with them for a week, he could skin a deer the way they showed him

He knocked his teeth out a lot cause he’d fall out of trees or get kicked in the face by animals so he’d make beads out of his own teeth. Awesome :)

Francis:

Fran popped up in the woods so he has a very similar experience to Arthur where he tuned into his instincts, made animal sounds, hunted with his bare hands, that kind of stuff

His mother found him after awhile and took him to the village where she lived on the west coast, thats a key difference between him and Arthur: his early exposure to people

He became very social very early on though he was still a brat. He would fight other kids who were physically his age knowing damn well that he’d beat them I to the dirt

He spent his teenage years killing Arthur over and over again so he developed insane assassin skills. Swords, poison, darts, knives, he knows how to use it all literally because he and his bestie just wanted to keep killing eachother

When fighting humans he’d stab them in the neck and watch them bleed out while making fun of them ‘aww! Poor thing!’...bitch...wtf

He realizes that was messed up but he was a teen then so he didn’t really know better

He has always been tame in the drug field. He tends to shy away only because he was worried about his self image...but then he’d get obscenely drunk and run around paris at 3am...the duality of man

In the 80s though he was a mess. He’d do 6 lines of coke and show up to world meetings in a fur coat sweating profusely. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles babey

He’s fallen off the Eiffel Tower before. He also pushed Arthur off of it a year later

Mattie is a woods child but like Alfred, he was taken in kinda quick

Mattie is a brutal fighter, as I mentioned in an earlier post. He cuts off his opponents arms and legs and punts them away. He only did that to nation oponnents though

Matt is more subtle tbh

But he does have his moments. He’ll drink a bottle of whiskey and go outside and the next morning he’ll wake up with a new bench. He doesn’t remember making a bench. Or cutting down the tree to make the bench. But he made it.

He’s eaten nails, paper clips, magnets, bolts, lots of small metal things just to see what his body does to them cause even as a nation, he doesn’t know how his body works. Turns out he just has to painfully shit it out lmao

He has also fought a bear. Did he win? No. Did he enjoy it? Also no

He has wrangled a wild moose before and rode it. I wouldn’t reccomend it and neither would he.

Michelle:

Michelle is a younger nation when compared to the other guys so she doesn’t have the same ‘I lived in the woods for months’ background

But she did pop out of the sand one day in front of a bunch of people which was startling to say the least

She was still born with her ‘animal instincts’ where she wanted to bite off fish heads and roll in mud, which she did

Her people took her in very quick though and taught her their ways so she is more ‘domesticated’ but I don’t enjoy using that term for people...but that’s kinda how it was

oK SO I’VE HAD THIS AU IN MY HEAD FOR TWO FKN DAYS AND I HAVE COME TO EVER SO GRACIOUSLY INJECT IT INTO YOUR MIND- THE GAANG PLUS YUE AND THE FIRE NATION GALS IN BANDS. a battle of the bands au. tHINK OF THE aRt. n i’m thinking zukka and yueki, and they meet at battle of the bands but yk...we got 2 sets of pining idiots yk yk. i thought this up five (5) days ago and iM DYING

this is basically just the setup but i’ll add little tidbits and worldbuilding and art later

zuko (18): drums + backup vocals

mai (16): bass guitar

ty lee (15): keyboard

azula (15): lead guitar + vocals

suki (17/18): rhythm guitar

they do some group vocals/harmonies but not that often

so like azula has this really strong, really powerful voice, and that means she could do really moving rock ballads/power ballads, and etc etc. she took extensive guitar and voice lessons as a kid because of That Fucker Ozai™ and thats why she has so much control. same with zuko, except he didnt take voice lessons (he just liked singing) and quit guitar after ozai went to jail (it was a painful reminder of The Shit He Went Through) and took up drums to let out his anger and frustrations instead. Azula stuck with guitar because it was something she loved to do, despite her past.

where azula has a bold voice, zuko has a raspy-yet-smooth-at-the-same-time one that matches azula’s really well. while she’s off singing power notes, hes singing the lower, raspier undertones and it sounds really nice.

zuko also took up art classes and is genuinely proud of his work.

he’s secretly (its not that much of a secret) an art nerd

zuko, azula, and suki wrote a few songs together, kinda

for lack of better explanation, ozai was (canon-typically) abusive, and he got drunk one day and got mad at zuko and pushed him. zuko fell into the fireplace, and boom. scar.

ty lee is still from the circus, except this time mai was there too, which is where she learned knife-throwing. they both ran away from the circus summer after freshman year and met azula though mai’s bass lessons (alternatively, they met at martial arts classes). theyre 14/15. they moved in with azula, zuko, and iroh around the middle of sophomore year (grade 10) when ozai was arrested. the azula and ty lee were 15, mai was 16, and zuko was 17 at the time, around the ages they were in the show when the war ended (i think??)

azula said it didn't matter cause they had a huge house. she says it was half-empty, anyways, but mai and ty lee know that meant she liked their company.

they get along really well with suki

everyone realizes they can all play instruments, the core parts of a [rock] band. they start playing together, and eventually decide to become a band

their band is called ‘the kyoshi warriors’ (or something idk this is off the top of my head) in honor of the girls’ martial arts instructor, master kyoshi, who passed away

suki joins their friend group gradually. first, she’s attended azula’s martial arts class since they were in second grade, and moved up the belts like wildfire (along with azula). she tried to befriend azula a few times, but gave up over the years because azula wasnt interested in friendship (no thanks to ozai pressuring her to always be first. azula saw her as a rival, suki saw azula as a particularly competitive classmate and but equal in skill). She was zuko’s classmate since freshman year (grade 9) but only became his friend in sophomore year through a literature assignment the two were paired up in. she was really his only friend, cause everyone was too busy sizing up his scar. the two became inseparable then on.

she plays rhythm guitar because she loves guitar but agrees that azula is better at being in the (relative) spotlight

on the outside, suki and zuko looked tough, but underneath that, they’re two bumbling, pining gay idiots

suki’s parents both died in a fire, so she grew up with her “cool gay aunt” who was also a feminist and a mixed martial arts instructor.

just finished writing this and realized how long it got oh jeez i am so sorry. i promise it is just me rambling about nothing and does not require a lot of thought.

i made a playlist of r5's entire discography and am listening to it (in order) because there is something wrong with me. if only it had their very first ever ep on it (ready set rock ep you may have been slight garbage but i don't love you any less for it). oh god i realized i fucked up and didn't add the songs by "ross lynch and r5" from the austin & ally soundtrack. i'm already three songs into louder and they would have been between louder and say you'll stay. what do i have to do is actually one of r5's best songs and i'm pretty sure i remember ross calling it one of his favs fairly recently?? which was so valid of him. anyways. this is now an r5 song ranking. i'm bored and avoiding doing assignments. i'm going to name my top 10 r5 songs off the top of my head. source: me trying to remember every song they've ever released.
