D'aww, this makes me feel much better about not starting things back up with Tali in ME3; I was hoping she and Garrus would end up together! I loved that Shepard got to tell them that he was very happy for them both! 💖💖💖

Mass Effect confession

I'm a bit of a Talibrations shipper

I can already hear rabid Garrus Fangirls smashing away at their keyboards, but IDC. I mean, yeah the confession comes outta nowhere and I didn't really like it that much at first. But over the years, it's kinda really grown on me. Not sure why, I just really like the appeal. Besides, I never really did their romances that much anyway. I like them, but I'm more of a MShenko and FShiara guy myself. Tali and Garrus are my bros, not my hoes.

And no, I don't wanna hear about how Garrus can 'kill her with a cough'. So could Shepard, and Tali only came outta that with just a fever. And it doesn't even have to be sexual. It's perfectly okay to just have a romantic relationship. I also don't wanna hear anything about Cannon Romances. There are none. The only cannon Mass Effect pairing (when it comes to Shepard anyway) is the pairing you want in your own story. Who gives a shit what I'm doing in my playthroughs? Just do your own FFS.

It is N7 Day 2023, and a heaping of gratitude, awe, and thanks is long overdue.

@finchmarie this piece is absolutely exquisite. I love it deeply and am so, so grateful.

It was shame that kept me from reblogging this--because I failed the wonderful folks participating in @masseffectholidaycheer last year.

Mental illness is annoying and difficult. But it is absolutely on me that I refused to own up to the fact I could *not* deliver on a promise. I rejected the notion that I was incapable (at the time) of fulfilling the secret Santa. Because of that, I ended up being one of those folks who is replaced by a generous pinch-hitter, and this someone who received a gift without giving one.

That shame has sat and festered inside me for months, nearly a year at this point.

I did not even look up this artwork until the summer, believing I had no right whatsoever to enjoy a gift given to me, someone who felt selfish, broken, and foolish.

But I also deeply want to thank you, OP, for this wonderful work. The vibes are impeccable. The black-and-white look is lovely. It feels like a gorgeous snapshot of the Shalibrations trio taken in a moment of calm before the storm. So I wanted to use what little energy N7 Day gives me to unabashedly say: THANK YOU!

I do not take you, or anyone else's work, for granted. Crafting such gifts is a truly remarkable thing.

I still feel guilty, unworthy, shameful. But I cannot let that keep me from responding, ever, to this beautiful piece of art.

To those in the 2022 @masseffectholidaycheer program, I am sorry I dropped the ball completely. I thank whatever kind, angelic human being was able to fill in for my absenteeism. I am sorry I could not be more honest at the time about how debilitated I was from mental illness, with either others or myself.

Out of fear of repeating such devastating mistakes, I will refrain from participating. It is also why I stopped doing fanfic exchanges this year. If I cannot guarantee I will be capable of completing a gift, I shouldn't do it.

Happy N7 Day 2023 to all, especially those like finchmarie who continue to breath wonderful life and joy into the Mass Effect community. I am forever grateful~

I feel like with ME/DA, when you don't like the non-PC ships, the assumption is you're jealous another character can become romantically involved with your favorite. And I want to be clear, when *I* hate a non-PC ship it's because I think their chemistry sucks or that romance ruins what they already had.

Everytime I play the Mass Effect trilogy and start fresh I tell myself I'll do things different but I never do. Like how I always make my Shep look the same, I save Ashley over Kaidan and romance her and then immediately dump her for Tali in the second game and then she becomes Sheps one and only, I always cure the genophage, I blow up the Collector base and I always go for the synthesis ending. I went with control once but that felt dirty
