here are my many inspirations

I think what really sets the new Diamond Cutters apart from most Sonic teams is the fact that we get to see them BECOME and team and go through new team conflicts.

Teams like Team Rose and Team Dark, those guys may of not started off as a team, but action/adventure video games don’t always have the budget for great gameplay, pretty cutscenes, AND action-packed plot that also has a subplot of team drama.

And teams like the Chaotix and the Babylon Rouges were created to work together. They have a pre-determined close bond and an undeniable compatibility with each other.

All of the Sonic teams before the Diamond Cutters were originally created to just be groups of fun video game characters first and foremost, not tell a story.

NOW on the flip side, Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin are comic book originals. Story is the whole point.

But these gals were created separately from each other and have developed differently throughout the comic, before it was decided that they become a team. That’s something unique that the writers get to take advantage of when creating this new team’s dynamic.

Also, Whisper and Lanolin have their own baggage, and personal motives, that they’re bringing with them to the team that’s going to clash with the other’s.

IDW Sonic is taking the opportunity that the games don’t really have, and not have this squad be perfectly in sync. Why? Because they can. It’s a storytelling medium first and foremost, it’s their job to create drama for the sake of drama. It’s a story, so let’s tell stories dang it!

To sum up, the new Diamond Cutters definitely have some team-bonding to do, but that’s on purpose. Personally, I think it’s super neat that we get the chance to see the ups, the downs, and hopefully, the growth.

Back to having these guys face off again! Kind of weird not having Knuckles not here, but he’s guarding the Master Emerald. I love how Jet’s trying to intimidate and trash talk, while Sonic’s just racing! Bonus!

It’s hot here and I’m mad about it so have some dealing with heat headcanons

Omega has a cooling system built in so none of his mechanics overheat. Team dark will stick very close to him on hot days and sometimes other teams will come over and join them.

Even though Blaze can literally control fire she hates humidity. The air hot AND wet just feels so wrong to her

Due to echidna’s having one of the lowest body temperatures among mammals Knuckles has a bit of an edge in dealing with hot weather but on really bad days he’ll spend most of his time in the water or buried underground.

Vanilla has a sprinkler system in her garden that she turns on for all the Neighbourhood kids to play around in.

Big has a giant floppy sun hat that he dumps in the water and then plops it on his head.

Big’s ears are actually pretty helpful in keeping him cool. He can loose a lot of heat that way

the chaotix are doing great. Everyone else is jealous.

But because they’re the most functional they’re willing to do what they can to help

Shadow’s fur absorbs heat really well and he’s made about this.

Tails grabs a bowl of ice to snack on. He really likes the crunch of the ice

Amy and Cream out out water bowls with ice in them so all the wild animals have access to fresh, cold water.

Knuckles knows the smell ‘it has been hot for a while and rain is coming’ and will happy tell anyone nearby when he picks it up.

the quilled individuals have worked out that their quills can hold ice in place and Amy, Silver, Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles will shove as many ice cubes as possible into their quills

the Babylon rogues have a massive fan system set up and Jet, Storm and Wave will stand in front of it for hours letting the wind blow through their feathers.

Silver will sit there with an ice cube in his mouth constantly shifting it around because the level of cold in the mouth feels weird but he still does it because it’s so hot

no on really cares about dignity. If a position is comfortable and makes you cooler who cares if you look weird.

I kinda want to do more but fuck it it’s too hot right now.

Sonic used to date the president of the USA, but the two are on bad terms ever since the break up.

Knuckles is the oldest member of Sonic's team: he was alive in the year 1907. He even learned Braille and was in history once.

Dr. Eggman used to be married, but he divorced ‘Martha’ after she cheated on him with half of the Sonic team.

Rouge used to be part of the Babylon Rogue's polycule until she was kicked out for only knowing two members of The Beatles.

Stands (from Jojo’s) exist in the Sonic universe.

Shadow wanted to change Hell's name to "H. E. DOUBLE GUN." when he tried to conquer it.

Blaze sacrificed herself just so that she could be treated as a goddess.

Sonic has f***** vegetables.

Eggman has pissed on the moon.

Elise eats rocks and thinks about the ocean when she's stressed.

Amy has gone to college, though it's not clear if it's because she's a genius or because she's older than she appears to be.

Both Tails and Knuckles go to therapy.

Eggman's knuckles are the size of God.

Hatsune Miku exists in this universe, and she seems to have a high kill count.

Jet has a cousin named Falco Lombardi, who appeared in Snapcube’s “Smash Bros” April Fools fandub, which Sonic appeared in.

Eggman is bisexual and or polyamorous.

Sonic, Shadow, and Silver are in a polyamorous marriage.

The Master Emerald has also been referred to as "The Weed Gem".

Knuckles is probably the only member of the Sonic team to smoke weed.

Mephiles used to be into Fortnite.

You mentioned in your tweet on today's (8/17/24) Sonic Heardle Catch Me If You Can might be the worst series in the franchise for you. Does that include things like Sonic 4 Ep. 2?

Sonic 4 music is sad, but it's at least music. Catch Me If You Can from Sonic Riders is like listening to a 12 year old make up a song in the shower for the first time.

Runblebee's later work (Secret Rings, even their remix of this song for Sonic Riders Zero Gravity) is a lot better. But this thing is a disaster to me. It's not even funny bad; somebody mashed random keys on their synthesizer and tried to set lyrics to it.

Keep thinking of a silly scenario

you know the 'group' dynamics in the sonic cast, the speed, power and flight types.

Imagine (for some stupid reason, like a 'bonding' or 'trust' exercise) each person from said formation had to spend time together as a group

so all the flight types, power types and speed types hanging out

and it's just making me giggle picturing how that would go.

For the flight group it'd just turn into Wave and Rouge babysitting/at the mercy of a bunch of kids. Or just watching the chaos go forth it's not their business-

For the speed group GOD the directions this could go in... there would be a lot of bickering and competitiveness... I have no idea WHAT they'd be able to agree to do together. it's a combo of sonic, shadow, amy, espio, jet and nack... this group is probably gonna be the most disastrous ngl-

And then theres the power group.

I keep having the funny idea that out of ALL of them

they manage to chill...somehow.

That or it's just a game session so they can still be competitive but not in the way they're used to (minus Big of course he's a sweet boy)... okay that's just the only image i had of them doing silly board game session.

Wave: I convinced Jet the AI gained sentience, tried to revolt, and had his search history.

Espio: I manipulated Charmy into thinking his favorite color was yellow when he was little. He still doesn't know if he actually likes yellow or if it's just the conditioning.

YES. absolutely. they are the bastard middle children who cause relentless problems for the youth around them

bonus lore: jet now attempts to fool charmy since he’s not the youngest. this backfires, since jet is an idiot compared to the psychological horrors of charlemagne bee, and now jet is being fooled by a child less than half his age.

in my opinion rouge is basically the real leader of team dark for a lot of reasons but what about the babylon rogues, jet is supposed to be the leader but when u think about it the fact that this 14 year old is bossing around two 18 year olds is so funny to me, i think wave should be the leader, jet is just not fit for that role and storm... well storm is kinda like boom knuckles so i guess the answer is obvious
