Remember all the times that you learned something just to forget it when you get rusty after not practicing for a while? Spaced repetition addresses this flaw by presenting the material to the learner with a frequency that is inversely proportional to his or her ability to memorize it. This way, the learner will ideally be presented with the learned material right before he or she is about to forget it. As you can guess, this technique comes in handy when used to learn new vocabulary.

one of the things that isn't really an issue but still slightly bugs me is how often the Mathematician™ in some piece of media will be doing some sort of complicated math and gets to the end like "aha! i have calculated that the solution to this equation is precisely... 42.876" because depending on the type of math the answers aren't even numbers any more. it's an equation or a set or just some weird abstract mathematical object. where are the scenes where they confidently declare that the answer to the problem they're solving is the general linear group of transformations of the two-dimensional vector space over the field F₇

it's weird to have the self discipline and versatility of a person with innate problem-solving skills who was then placed into 7 years of martial arts. combined with the emotional dysregulation of unmedicated adhd (and probably anxiety too).

me at 7:43 PM, much calmer: guess what i applied to two jobs that will be much easier on my physical and mental health and that I have a good likelihood of success in landing, so I only have to deal with this misery for a few more weeks while I get through the hiring process. this is manageable.
