Which areas did well in the interwar years and why?
‘Doing well’, how can this be judged? Is it a measure of well being? If it is, is there enough oral history to provide evidence of it, since, by and large we tend to comment on the shortcomings of life and not its fullness? If it is to be assessed, is it to be done with the parameters of the twenty-first century writer? Or do we seek to compare but do so in its historical context? St Albans did…

Aviation in the USSR
A collection of excerpts from Anna Lousie Strong's The Soviets Expected It, compiled for @czerwonykasztelanic
[...] Or the guerrilla detachment which captured six German planes, destroyed five of them, and sent the sixth to the Red Army, piloted by an amateur air enthusiast, who was a tractor driver in ordinary life. Lt. Talalikhin’s initiative is already a Soviet aviator’s tradition. Exhausting his ammunition in a fight with three enemy planes, he rammed the tail of one enemy with his propeller, smashed the tail of another enemy plane with his wing tip, and then bailed out of his own plane safely. Moscow parks displayed the wreckage of the German planes, and other Soviet pilots quickly copied the tactics. An aviation technician, Konikov, won renown by attaching the fuselage of a plane he was repairing to the front platform of a military train whose locomotive had been bombed by the enemy; he thus pulled the most necessary parts of the train to safety.
pg. 14
The Soviet people glimpsed and felt victory. For the first time they began to feel that they were no longer “backward Russians.” They were beginning to challenge the world. With this went a proud sense of their unity as a nation. Cotton growers in Turkestan exulted, “We have conquered the Arctic,” though they themselves would never see the snow. Bearded peasants, who had never sat in an airplane, began to talk about “our conquest of the air.” Young Nina Kameneva expressed the mood of the country’s young people when she broke a world’s altitude record in parachute jumping and remarked on landing: “The sky of our country is the highest sky in the world.”
pg. 46
Moscow can make all the implements of war, including planes and motor trucks, inside the city. [...] Moscow’s sky is covered by an air defense that was the marvel of the London experts who visited it after the war began to make suggestions and found it far superior to London’s. Anti-aircraft shells make a thick blanket at four distinct levels to London’s one, and observation planes patrol the heavens night and day. Moscow’s four million people also offer a night-and-day defense.
pg. 51
Alma Ata, the capital of this area, has grown from a town of 60,000 to a proud young city of 260,000 in the ten years since the railroad reached it. Its life has leaped at once from the nomad epoch to the airplane. The railroad is too slow to tame the wastes of Kazakstan. From Alma Ata Airport the planes shoot forth, east, west, south, north, on new discoveries. [...] Kazakstan is only one of the energetic regions behind the Urals. South of it lie the lands of the Uzbeks and Tadjiks, where some of the largest textile mills of the U.S.S.R. work up the locally grown cotton and where automobile and airplane parts are produced by mass production in the historic city of Samarkand.
pg. 58
I have traveled many times on the Trans-Siberian. In the spring of 1935, I went from Vladivostok to Moscow with a stop-over in the Jewish autonomous territory whose capital is Birobidjan. The train was crowded with pioneering people in warm woolen clothes and padded leather jackets, engineers, Army men, developers of the Far East. [...] An army engineer who shared my table at dinner was celebrating his return by airplane from the northern wilderness by consuming a whole bottle of port and bragging about the Far Eastern pioneers.
pg. 59
According to Pierre Cot, the French Air Minister, who visited Moscow in 1933, the Soviet air arm was at least equal to the best in Europe in numbers, technical equipment, and, above all, in the productive capacity of the aviation industry.‡ Thus, by the end of 1932, which ended the first Five Year Plan, the Soviet Union had reached the level of Western Europe in armaments – a fairly modest level judged by standards of later years.
pg. 65
Other official indications of the extent of the Red Army’s mechanization come from Voroshilov’s report in 1934 [...]. Five years later [...]. He claimed that the “bomb salvo” of the Soviet air force (the number of bombs that can be dropped by all planes at once) had tripled in five years and had reached more than 6,000 tons.
pg. 66
Soviet airplane pilots also hold many world records, both in altitude and long-distance flights. Their conquest of the Arctic and its difficult weather has accustomed them to the severest conditions. Americans well remember the Soviet pilots who twice made world records by flying from Moscow to America. These were individual exploits, but the development of Arctic aviation on which they were based was the work of large numbers of pilots and implies a whole air tradition
pg. 67
Parachute jumping has become a national sport in the Soviet Union. Soviet people are probably the most air-minded people in the world. Training for air-mindedness begins in the kindergarten. Small tots play the “butterfly game” and jump around with large butterflies pinned on their hair, gaining the idea that flying is fun and a natural activity. Children in their teens make jumps from “parachute towers” which are far rougher and more realistic than the parachute tower in the New York World’s Fair, which was copied from them. The sport is popular not only in the cities but on the farms. Several years ago a Ukrainian farmer told me of his trip to the nearby city with a group of farm children, all of whom immediately formed in line in the recreation park to go up in a tall tower and jump off under a parachute. “I thought it very terrifying,” he said, “and wondered why the park authorities allowed it. Then I saw that my own thirteen-year-old daughter was at the head of the line. These children of today aren’t afraid of anything.” At an older age, Soviet young people jump from airplanes, learn to operate gliders, or even become amateur pilots in their spare time. Every large factory, government department, and many of the larger collective farms have “aviation clubs,” which are given free instruction by the government. Probably a million people in the Soviet Union have made actual jumps from parachutes. It is not surprising that the Red Army was the first to use parachute troops in active service several years before the Germans adopted them. In 1931 a small detachment of parachutists surrounded and cleaned up a bandit gang in Central Asia. The making of airplane models by young people is taken seriously in the U.S.S.R. In 1937 over a million school children were spending after-school hours in aviation model stations. At a later stage, young people of talent create real airplanes and demonstrate them at Tushino aviation exhibitions. Owing to the wide interest in aviation and the public ownership of factories, a bright Soviet youth who invents a new type of airplane may get it constructed by his factory sports club and show it off. At one of the aviation festivals I attended, I saw a score of different amateur planes, including every possible shape of flying object – short, stubby ones, long thin ones, others shaped like different kinds of insects. They added greatly to the gaiety of the occasion. Whether or not they produced any really valuable new invention, they at least encouraged the inventiveness of their makers.
pg. 72
In the past two years, especially, all this training has been given a very realistic turn. [...] Only a month before the Germans attacked the Soviet borders, 7,000 Moscow citizens practiced a special drill in repulsing parachute troops over the week end. The large numbers of such trained citizenry, both among recruits entering the Red Army and among the older citizens assisting it, greatly add to the Soviet Union’s total defense.

//content warning: (fake! its just a 3d modeled cartoon!) corpse, talk of an infected cog eating a toon (and maybe other cogs), survivors guilt. this is like, kinda fucked up in a multitude of ways. sorry, flint's perspective is a horrifying perspective! wont stay buried.
Tumblr media
flint's internal clock ticked wildly in his chest. oh my cog.
Tumblr media
oh my cog he really just did that. he's done it time and time again but oh my cog.
Tumblr media
flint kept the gun trained on tumbles, just in case he showed any signs of life. he had to do this. he had to do this for him. there was no other way.
Tumblr media
even as the light faded from tumbles' eyes, as his head completely drained of ink, those pupils still were focused on flint. staring down the barrel of what was once his own gun, but turned against him. flint knew it was just the way tumbles fell, there was no soul or mind behind those eyes anymore. but still.
it never got easier.
but there was a job to do, and flint had become very familiar with that job since... well, yeah. uh, step one. loot tumbles of all he's worth.
flint grabbed the backpack from tumbles's corpse and dumped it out onto a table. weapons... medicine... bottles of water... trinkets... all stuff he could potentially use or just... use to decorate. great. great haul. he also took tumbles's sunglasses off the floor and added it to the pile. they were cute sunglasses. flint then began to steal tumbles's clothes. sure, toon clothes couldn't ever begin to fit flint or graham but they did make excellent rags. besides, graham wasn't exactly the biggest fan of chewing through cloth. the fact that he had stopped trying to eat flint's arm was proof of that... and the bite scars painting flint's arm was proof of that proof of that.
with all the gathered loot from tumbles in their respective places, flint began step two. clean the crime scene. flint propped tumbles up against the wall, in a way where he'd only continue to bleed onto himself and not onto the floor. getting the ink out of the carpet... flint couldn't tell if it was worse than getting motor oil out of the carpet. both stained it horribly, so flint has to act fast before in completely soaked into it and dried. luckily, tumbles's ink was a close match in color, so flint could afford to miss a few spots. nobody in the near future would notice a slight offshade blotch on the ground, at least not until it was far too late for them.
with that step done, it was time for flint to be the best boyfriend and move onto step three. feed. grabbing tumbles by the invisible arm, flint carried the food down the stairs again. his flames naturally lit up the dark cellar, quickly drawing the attention of graham. oh, graham. why did you have to get bit when running from the luxury suites and textiles district to the coal and ice district. why didn't you fucking tell flint. why did you think your processors could naturally fight off the disease, were you scared your leg would have to be amputated? your legs would better off be amputated now, with the state they were in. all twisted and atrophied like that, they looked more like bones than legs.
flint surveyed the last "sacrifice" he bestowed upon his boyfriend, cosmo. his shell was gone, just a skelecog now. flint tried not to think about how he knew that guy once. whatever helped keep graham from starving, whatever helped stall for another day in the frantic hopes for a cure.
flint knelt down in front of graham's crawling form, caressing his sunken in and half-torn open cheek. it'll all be over soon, i promise. someone will find a cure, someone will soon. and then they can go back to being happy as usual, and everyone will forgive flint for his crimes against both toon and suitkind... because it was a crime of love. truly. what was he meant to do? let graham die? PUT GRAHAM OUT OF HIS MISERY? what if he put graham out of his misery a day before a cure was discovered, that'd be horrible! he wouldn't. couldn't.
graham made a hollow groaning noise. flint took that as a good thing.
flint set the food down on the ground, pressed a kiss against graham's forehead, and walked back up the stairs. he tried not to listen to the tearing and frantic gulping sounds. once back up the stairs, flint closed the trapdoor and sat on top of it, trying desperately to continue to excuse all the horrible shit he did, has done, and will continue to do. the daily sob settled in.
why did i have to be immune. next

So two days ago, I was tasked with making a character for a Danganronpa Fanproject one of my old Highschool classmates is working on with another one of their friends. I don’t know the details on if it’s going to be a full-fledged fangame or anything of that sort. My scope of knowledge on what I’ve contributed to is very slim (since I received the message asking if I wish to contribute outta the blue lol). I’ll probably receive more updates/specific info on the projects synopsis as weeks go by
But for now—I’m just sharing the design & rough character concept I made! Keep in mind that this is all very beginning stages and could be presented differently in the final result. Do not rely solely on this for making assumptions on the fanproject. I am only a small contributor in the equation, so things are bond to change once more people are involved with fleshing out details :D
The name Nira is a placeholder for the time being, and she is meant to be the Ultimate Crafter/Ultimate Textile Designer! I was instructed to be as creative with this as I wanted to; so the character features, personality, and talent all stem from my own brain! I will not be disclosing if she is a survivor, victim, or killer because I don’t wish to be held reliable for spoilers on the projects narrative. I would much rather that be left undisclosed publicly
I wished to incorporate various aspects of weaving/crocheting into the design to emphasize this talent. Any background information on her story is yet to be determined. Since she works with a lot of fabrics & intricate patterns, she has a lot of dexterity/fine motor skills in her fingertips. Able to sew, mend, and hem things easily. She’s spent a lot of the time familiarizing herself with pictographs & tapestries. She is much quicker at discerning visual language then spoken or written language (although she’s capable of achieving those things as well). In her possession she usually has threads of string or yarn. Her clothes are most likely handmade!
…and that’s the most I’ve got to offer right now lol. Hopefully her story & lore will be expanded upon in the fanproject! I’m very glad to have been offered a place in shaping it <3

(Here is the version without all the visual notes/references on the design)

TTCC: Beast Machines
Hello, ToonTown Corporate Clash AU coming through!! So in this AU, the Cogs are these techno-organic monsters that are described as “Mechanical Demons” or “Beast Machines”, and while they look like giant monsters, they can also do all kinds of tricks against the toons like shapeshifting and such. So yeah, hope you guys like it!
⚙️ What is the Cogside?: The Cogside is a realm filled to the brim with metal, industrial stuff, and lava. It is below the toony surface and it is where the cogs resides, where they do businesses, hang out and do whatever they want in their business manners. Their main goal is to rise from below and make Toontown become part of the Cogside. Sure it may take a looong time because of the toons, but they have to wait until it is time to strike. The way to get there is to go through…The Hole of Boredom! There are many areas of the Cogside which mirrors Toontown in a different way; Central Oil District, Offshoring & Drilling District, Stone & Iron District, Organics & Biofuels District, Brass & Shipping District, Coal & Ice District, Woodchip & Paper District, and Luxury Suites & Textiles District. (An Employee Cog would wear a colored stash around them to identify which district they are from) Now; the HQs and the Cog Facilities themselves are located on each floating islands of their own (which floats with motors and magic), they can only get there through either flight, magic or any kinds of transportation.
🌕 The Silver Moon: It is a event where the moon is full and shines in a silver coloring, which means only one thing; The Cogs emerges from the Hole of Boredom and starts causing mayhem around Toontown; Ransacking, Terrorizing, you name it! So it’s best to not stay outside when the Silver Moon is out, otherwise you might run into very big trouble! This Silver Moon only last until sunrise, which once the sun starts rising, the cogs retreats back into the Cogside through The Hole of Boredom and never come out until either the next Silver Moon or is told to do so.
💡Get to Know a Cog: Cogs comes in different shapes and sizes depending on the Cog Type; Employees are Smaller than the other types, Executives/Specialists and Skelecogs are a bit bigger than the Employees, Managers and Contractors are Bigger than the Employees, Executives, Specialists, and the Skelecogs, and The Cog Bosses (or in this AU, Cog Behemoths) are Bigger than the Managers and Contractors. They wield special abilities, but they can also shapeshift in two kinds of shifting, which we would get to later on. They share the ability to be immune to Lava, just to have some lava baths to clean themselves up. And they are also ranked with a threat level ranging from 1 to 10, where 1 is harmless while 10 is the worst of them all.
🗂️ Monster Types: Not all Cogs can be the same monster at once, they have different physical looks of their own, here are the following;
😈 Fiend - Looks Human, but has a bottom half of something inhuman.
🐾 Taur - Similar to Fiend, but has more legs than a Fiend. (The Cog Behemoths are Taurs)
👹 Beastly - Hybrids of an animal and a monster.
🥸 Shapeshifting: Shapeshifting is an uncommon ability for Cogs to have, especially Managers. Now, we are going through two kinds of Shapeshifting; Random and Forced.
🃏 Random Shapeshifting is where Cogs can change their looks and species on their own, such as turning into a toon or gaining random body parts, just to name a few. For an example, Duck Shuffler can turn himself into a duck toon as well as retracting claws on his wings to grab onto walls and such thanks to his crazy mind. Another example for Random Shapeshifting would have to be Litigator and Scapegoat, who can turn into a crocodile toon and a goat toon, as well as Featherbedder if he feels like it.
🧬 Forced Shapeshifting is different from Random Shapeshifting, it is where it just have one form and nothing else. For instance, Deep Diver can change her size depending on the amount of water, whatever be a small fishbowl or a large body of water. However, forced transformation can take form of something that is built within the cog like some sort of supernatural phenomenon. Chip Revvington is the prime example for this, when his override is activated, he becomes a monster similar to a werewolf but less hairy and more robotic, which he usually thinks of this as a werewolf curse and the override state really makes him feral.
🍽️ Diet: More Likely so, cogs do like to consume oil, wood (if you’re anything like Chip or Spruce), anything in particular, but they also like meat and other organic stuff.
➕ Fusion: Fusion is a rare ability on cogs where they can merge into one different cog, and their abilities would merged into new abilities, yet it can bit tiring for the cogs. For an example, Duck Shuffler and Major Player can fuse themselves into a Beastly Taur Hybrid named High Roller.
🔗 Enslavement: Now for those who are unfortunate in the Sliver Moon Event, Street/Kudos Manager Cogs can capture any toons in any way possible, by either just making the toon lose or just straight up capturing them out of nowhere! Once they take the toon into the Cogside, they instantly strip the gags out of the toon and make the toon go through an orientation, which then comes to some interviews with the Street Managers and then the Kudos Managers for their enslavement. After the Interviews are done, they get randomly selected through a jar of paper with different colors and the initials of the Managers' name on them, whoever the toon gets will be stuck with the manager for eternity. Afterwards, they get stamped by a special stamp that makes the Toon teleport back to the manager to the manager's command as well as a gag bestowal curse (Which they aren't allowed to use gags) and serve as the manager's servant of any role they are given, or as the cogs like to call them "Pets".
🎖️ S.M.O.O.C.H Unit - The S.M.O.O.C.H or (Silver Moon Overprotective Offense Comedy Heroes for Short) is a super secret “special-ops” team created by Mac Opsys consisting of Toons that only comes out during the Silver Moon Event and help get the Toons inside if they are any out and try to combat the monsters of the Cogside! They kinda act like the national guard and FBI, think of them as a special version of the Resistance Rangers! (shout out to @sam-rexian for this idea)
That’s all the info I can put in my AU, thanks for coming to my TED Talk!

BURYING THE NOT QUITE DEAD: A DISCO ELYSIUM FANFIC
My take on the events after the game featuring a multi-fic HarryKim slowburn. I'm also just a sucker for case fics. This is just a snippet from Chapter 1 but I actually have several chapters written. I'll be posting them on AO3 eventually but I'd like to run it by some beta readers first. Feel free to DM me if you're interested!
SHIVERS - As the sun begins to lower over Jamrock, the dome of an old silk mill shines like brass in the golden light. It's not difficult to see a time in which masses of workers filed in and out of its entrances, and the motor lorries lined up along its western wing to collect their wares. Miles upon miles of lustrous textiles to be shipped across oceans and isolas to glide across the skin and furnishings of those few who can afford it. The Revacholiere will never be one of those people.
The long and blocky building projects off of either side of the dome like a russet brick ladybird, splitting its chitinous hide and stretching its wings between half-demolished tenements and modern high rises alike. Its masonry tells tales of a time before the deathblow. A time when even the utilitarian still showed a thread of residual vanity in the form of granite steps, sharp stone arches, and molded concrete cornerstones. Original varve clay brick, brown like dried autumn leaves, sit in contrast to newer, coppery replacements, highlighting the scars of war and neglect in cracks, blotches and even an entire end of one wing. Always visible like a reality you can't unsee.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - It has been a Police Precinct longer now than it was ever a Silk Mill but its old purpose still lingers in the bones of its columns, trusses, and long abandoned smoke stacks.
INLAND EMPIRE - It’s all that you have left.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s inside this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the North?
SHIVERS - A peninsula. A district left abandoned by its surrounding infrastructure. Bombed out ruins and mountains of shipping crates slowly turning red. The harbor has been locked up tight since shots rang out in the square. Blood and heavy fuel oil paint an old mosaic red and hang in the air like a fog that dares to challenge the sunlight. Motor lorries still sit abandoned in the circle, where you left them. A bookstore is no better now than your last visit, and a hostel is now empty of guests minus a few lucky souls who now grieve their lost brothers in the Union booth.
INLAND EMPIRE - It was your home for the past week.
CONCEPTUALIZATION - It is your birthplace. Born of a drug and drink deluge, on a floor covered in a lifetime of mistakes.
YOU - And beyond that?
SHIVERS - An islet of crumbling concrete and steel. The wind whistles through water reeds and swathes of tiny white petals that push through the last spring snow. Ashes of a fire long gone out blow out into the sea to be swallowed like the memories of the cause that built it. Its only resident is gone now, taken away for medical treatment and for a prison sentence that will see him to his final days.

Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the south?
SHIVERS - An apartment building. Mostly stone, though partially the ivy and wisteria that have done their part to claim it in an attempt to reach the heavens. They are a part of one another now; inseparable without either coming to ruin. Inside, a marriage has been strengthened thanks to an unusual discovery made by an unusual officer of the RCM. Husband and wife embrace as they look over the colorful image between them.
YOU - And beyond that?
SHIVERS - A wind whips down the long stretch of Boogie Street that barely contains the buildings and crowds on either side. Neon signs illuminate dark windows that are rattled by the music within. Lively chatter fills the air both inside and out. A young woman walks out with her lover in hand. She presses close to his side to fight against the chill of the spring air as her dark brunette curls whip about her face. The man flashes a charismatic smile and he pulls her in closer to lead her away to a shiny white lacquer motor carriage parked just off the main street. They each know something the other does not.

YOU - What’s to the east?
SHIVERS - Seemingly endless blocks of brutalist apartment buildings that tower over the residences that survived the revolution 43 years ago. The whole district lies in a millennium old riverbed, leaving it forever in shadow of Jamrock to its west, the GRIH to its north, Grand Couron to its east. Grand Couron and the Old South district maintain their borders with two of La Delta’s canals.
INLAND EMPIRE - A mark of constant probability. Everyone of Revachol West is just one bad couple of weeks away from moving to the Eminent Domain or the Burnt Out Quarter.
SHIVERS - Across the water, a woman in a satin robe sits with her elderly dog, surrounded by shining white marble as she peers out her 11th story window. The glass leaves the evening in an emerald tint. She would have the Eminent Domain wiped from the face of the Earth if it meant sparing her view. The canal and a financial cushion are all that separates her from the proles.
And beyond that?
SHIVERS - La rivière Espérance and Revachol East

YOU - What’s to the West?
SHIVERS - A home you will never see again. Trees and underbrush devoured the old hospital and surrounding buildings of the Pox long before you even had a chance to remember it. Stray vagrants find their way through the bombed out ruins, shuffling past abandoned wire bed frames and rusted carts of broken tare. There is nothing left to be found here but a little bit of shelter from the wind. But the Valley of Dogs lurks nearby and most know never to stay unless they’re entirely out of options. This place will likely never be safe again.

YOU - What’s in this building?
SHIVERS - As day begins to fade and the lights begin to slowly begin to blink on across the city, multi-story factory windows will slowly transition from the concealing darkness to exposing illumination of what is no longer the East Insulindic Textiles Company. The loading docs have now become the motor pool for the 41st Precinct of the Revachol Citizens Militia. An old Coupris 40 whirs past a vehicle of a similar model and one of a decidedly newer model as it turns into the garage for the evening. Both MCs it passed do not belong to the 41st.
Inside the building proper, a stern looking man in a well tailored uniform walks toward the elevator at a brisk pace. His left breast is heavily decorated in medals and ribbons. One from the Suzerain, three from the Commune, most from the Moralist International. He bears the weight of the whole city on his shoulders but he carries it with an air of pride and authority. He’s heard tell of some strange happenings and without seeing it for himself, he’s not sure he believes it.
Across the precinct, in the East wing, tucked into the far end of the first floor an eclectic group of men sit inside a dimly lit Lazareth. Three surround one in a way not too dissimilar from how the interviewee had been earlier in the day.

Shudder and blink
YOU - A violent shudder passes down your spine and you find yourself suddenly aware that you have been staring off into the ether for about 3 minutes. You are one with your body once more.
PRECINCT 41 - The Lazareth Office of Dr. Nix Gottlieb is small despite the size of the precinct that it maintains. Cabinets and shelves line just about every surface in some manner or capacity. And each and every surface was crammed packed with medical supplies, specimens, and piles upon piles of folders and textbooks. There isn’t much space to move, let alone work. The center of the room is dominated by a surgical table that is currently sporting a flimsy pad that serves as a cushion for your injured ass.
INLAND EMPIRE - This is the closest thing to private healthcare you’ve seen in years.
PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT - Your bullet riddled leg has already been looked over. You’d managed to pull your stitches and partially reopen the injury during your little jaunt about Martinaise and the islet.
PAIN THRESHOLD - You wish you’d been unconscious like the first time you got sewn up. Gottlieb is quick and efficient but he’s merciless in the empathy department. In other words, you cried. And your leg still hurts like a bitch.
EMPATHY - Kim radiated pride and relief behind his subdued expression when the doctor had complimented his work.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - [legendary: failure] He’s just glad it wasn’t worse.
NIX GOTTLIEB - The doctor is a bespeckled elderly man, dressed in civilian clothes, a dark, woven turtle neck covered by a brown blazer that stopped fitting him in the shoulders about 10 years ago. His forehead and brow are permanently creased by stress and a deep look of concentration. His brow deepens when you shake yourself out of the thought. “Welcome back, Detective.”
RHETORIC - That was sarcasm. He doesn’t care.
PERCEPTION [smell] - On his breath, mingled with the scent of Tioumoutiri cigarettes, you catch a whiff of peppermint schnapps.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY - If we play our cards right, maybe he’ll share a belt.
VOLITION - We’ve been clean this week. Don’t fuck this up now.
NIX GOTTLIEB - He scratches at his wispy white hair and beard as he speaks over his shoulder at two other men. “And how long would you say these episodes tend to last?”
KIM KITSURAGI - Your partner of the last seven days looks between you and the blue notebook in his hands, occasionally flipping through its pages. He still stands in his field attire; Orange nylon bomber jacket zipped up to his collar, white crew shirt hidden beneath it, brown aviation mechanic pants tucked neatly into his black boots, and his brown leather driving gloves.
KIM KITSURAGI - He thumbs over a couple of pages before answering, “Anywhere between a few seconds to several minutes. This… is one of his longer episodes.”
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Wait! Has he been taking notes on you?
LOGIC - [medium: Failure] Of course not. We’ve already established that this is his method of working through his thoughts. This is likely a method of recall for him.
TRANT HEIDELSTAM - A lean blonde man in a tailored suit looks over you from where he stands, with fascination glittering in his hazel eyes. You saw a similar light when you spoke with him in front of the defunct Feld R&D when he spoke of their pre-revolution efforts. He was also one of the only ones in the fishing village who stood up for you against your partners onslaught of insults.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - This man is a special consultant taken onto the Major Crimes Unit in C-Wing. His well-traveled knowledge and personable demeanor has lent itself invaluably to the task force.
AUTHORITY - /Your/ task force.
INLAND EMPIRE - Not anymore. You’ll be lucky if they’ll even let you back into the field as a patrol officer, given the circumstances.
TRANT HEIDELSTAM - “And what do you experience during these… lapses, Harry?”
HALF LIGHT - Don’t. This is a trap.
[RHETORIC - challenging] Explain the skill set
+1 Kim is here -1 Butcher doctor -1 This sounds insane
[VOLITION: legendary] “The city speaks to me sometimes.”
+1 Revelation in the church +1 She loves you -1 This sounds insane
[DRAMA - godly] Convince them your thoughts are normal (lie)
-1 Kim is here -1 Butcher doctor -1 You’re already insane
“A real shit show of internal monologue that drowns out the world around me.” [continue]
Really? Anything else?
YOU - Really? Anything else?
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Nope.
[RHETORIC - challenging] Explain the skill set
RHETORIC [challenging - Failure] What spills forth is a vomited spew of half finished sentences, aborted gestures, and some words you’re pretty sure you’re misusing. You throw in some apologies and self-depreciation for good measure like a dog half-heartedly trying to bury its own shit.
NIX GOTTLIEB - “Try again. But in Vacholian this time.” His arms cross and his fingers drum impatiently on his bicep.

Really? Anything else?
YOU - “Just a real shit show of an internal monologue that drowns out the world around me.”
KIM KITSURAGI - “It’s inconvenient at times, but he often comes through with concepts and ideas I never would have considered. Unorthodox as it may be, it was invaluable to the investigation.”
DRAMA - [Medium: Success] He means it, sire.
EMPATHY - He’s concerned about your well being, but he also doesn’t want to see you misrepresented in the eyes of these men.
