From their first ever meeting, Natsu thought of Lucy as a nice person.

Lucy had such genuine kindness that he wanted to form a team with her. Natsu, who only had Happy for company most of the time, wanted this nice weirdo he just met to form a team with him.

Their first few interactions really make you appreciate how far they’ve come together.

To Natsu, Lucy wasn’t Lucy Heartfilia, or Lucy of Fairy Tail at first sight. It was Lucy the Weirdo who was so Nice that she fed him even if she didn’t know him yet.

Natsu and Lucy’s relationship is so beautiful because you can see how organic it is. Even without Mashima saying it, their friendship is undoubtedly one of the strongest in the guild.

So I’m gonna wait until they get together, because at the end of the day, beneath love and all its glamour lies a strong and unshakable friendship.

509 - Idril captured by Morgoth. Idril reveals the location of Gondolin in exchange for an Oath to not harm her family (Turgon, Tuor, and Earendil). Idril rescued.

510 - Gondolin prepares for war with Morgoth.

513-522 - Siege of Gondolin. Deaths of Duilin and Rog. Gothmog slain by Aredhel the Huntress. First use of the Three Rings by Lomion and Celebrimbor in defense of Gondolin. House of the Hammer of Wrath destroyed.

618 - Maglor claims the Silmaril from Eonwe's camp and casts himself into the Sea. Death of Maglor.

3232 - Sauron taken to Numenor as a prisoner.

3274 - Elrond kicks Sauron out of Numenor and outlaws the morgoth cult.

3310 - Morgoth cult publicly reappears.

3319 - Downfall of Numenor. Tar-Miriel leads a greater force of the Faithful away.

The main details I'm figuring out right now are

does Celebrimbor still die at Eregion - I don't think he's getting captured/tortured, but he could still die in the battle. On the other hand, he could probably survive by using Narya & Lomion using Nenya, but that would definitely have repercussions further down the line

how does Idril's deal work - I'm currently thinking of Idril exchanging the location of Gondolin for her family's guaranteed safety, because it seems in character for Reverse Idril? But on the other hand, even if I limit it to immediate family at the time of the oath (tuor, turgon, earendil) then idk where turgon dies? Maybe Maglor can kill him but that seems kind of random

where and how does Turgon die

how does Prince Elrond's character even work

how does Numenor still fall when factoring in Prince Elrond - I'm thinking that the morgoth death cult gained enough traction during the time sauron was there that even after Elrond kicks him out, the cult still sticks around and reemerges later? The Fall still happens, but they never go to attack valinor and there's a good deal more Faithful (maybe 40-60%?)

I think when people talk about things like desirability, they can miss the deeper point of why it can be important to analyze why people are seen as undesirable. It isn't just that a type of person is just... not hot... but often, it's the dehumanization of a person based on marginalized features.

For instance, I had a conversation with somebody about disability portrayal in media, and we had agreed that, historically, disability had been portrayed as a horrific ordeal. However, I think they missed the point as to why the "undesirable disabled" character was so appealing to a broader audience. The idea that disability is other, inhuman, and something that depersonalizes somebody from society is partly why those ideas were and are prevalent in mainstream media and culture. It is the idea that "nobody likes you. Nobody needs you. Nobody wants you" because of the person's marginalized body or experience or whatever it may be.

It isn't some superficial "oh why aren't I seen as pretty by everybody?" It is the knowledge that you are portrayed as undesirable in this way because it is a way to separate you from everybody else. It isn't about beauty, nor is it a selfish desire to be wanted by somebody. It is the desire to be seen as a person - an equal, regardless of who desires you or who does not.

All right, since sharing sometimes improves my feelings about a fic, here is a snippet from the President Loki fic I'm working on, inspired by these two wolfpup026 pieces:

“The TVA didn’t just prune you, it pruned your branch,” Mobius said. “There isn’t a timeline to go back to.”  Loki showed disturbingly little reaction to the news. Mobius didn’t know all of this variant’s tells but he doubted the god of mischief was pleased to hear all of his work had gone up in smoke. Then Loki’s right hand flicked out and a dagger dropped into it. In a movement too quick for Mobius to track, Loki crossed the distance between them and jerked Mobius' head back with a tight grip on his hair, exposing Mobius' throat. Mobius froze at the feel of the cold blade just under his Adam’s apple.  “You aren’t giving me many reasons to leave you alive, little agent,” Loki murmured. Up close, he really did look like the Loki Mobius knew, enough so that it made Mobius’ breath catch. The look in his eyes was the real tip-off: cold and cruel. Even when Loki had first been brought to the TVA, he’d never looked like this. Maybe Mobius had overestimated his ability to talk his way out of trouble.  “We don’t prune branches anymore,” Mobius croaked, wondering if that detail would help. “It’s kind of a new thing we’re trying.” “And you think that absolves you of all past sins? Am I not owed my recompense?” Loki replied calmly.  A chill ran down Mobius’ spine. The TVA manual hadn’t included a section on surviving torture. Despite the danger of the blade at his throat, he jerked in surprise when Loki suddenly dropped onto his thighs, straddling both Mobius and the chair. Loki twirled the dagger idly, but the casual gesture was undercut by the firm grip he kept on Mobius' hair. There was leashed anger behind those green eyes, even if his body language didn't show it. “The question is: what to do with you?” Loki said. “I quite liked the idea of slitting your throat in front of whoever came to rescue you but as you can see”—he gestured to their surroundings with his weapon—“your precious TVA seems to have abandoned you which means you’re all mine to do with as I please.” Now, Loki’s smile promised many unpleasant things.
