italian steve harrington who went to international school before moving to hawkins for high school

his english has no perceptible accent except for a couple of words he mispronounces bc IDK why but international school kids always have a bit of britishisms (think: aluminum). people mostly chalk it up to him being a little dumb.

and when he takes a while to answer in class, he's really trying to remember the right translations.

with the whole "dude is/isn't gender neutral" thing it's weird seeing people frame it as if it's some uniquely trans issue of sensitivity to not want to be called certain terms. when i was younger i used "man" a lot and was like "chill man" to a cis girl once and she (rightly) told me she was not a man. (being like 10 or so and kinda shy i didn't have a response to that so i think just nodded and walked away but my childhood social awkwardness is irrelevant to the subject.) from then on i was pretty conscious about who i called what. like idk doesn't matter if they're trans or not maybe don't use any potentially-gendered terms for other people you don't know full stop.
