On September 10th we venerate Elevated Ancestor, Voodoo Queen of Louisiana, & Saint, Marie Catherine Laveau on her 222nd birthday 🎉
[for our Hoodoos of the Vodou Pantheon]
Tumblr media
Marie Catherine Laveau was a dedicated Hoodoo, healer, herbalist, & midwife who, "traveled the streets [of New Orleans] like she owned them", as the most infamous Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.
Marie C. Laveau I was born a "Free Mulatto" in today's French Quarter in what was then, New France); to a mother & grandmother who were both born into slavery & later freed via freedom papers. It is believed that she grew up in the St. Ann Street cottage of her maternal grandmother.
She married Jacques Santiago-Paris, a "Quadroon" "Free Man of Color", who fled as a refugee from Saint-Domingue, Haiti from the Haitian Revolution in the former French colony . After his passing, she became known as "The Widow Paris". She then worked as a hairdresser catering to White families & later entered a domestic partnership with a French nobleman his death. She excelled at obtaining inside information on her wealthy patrons by instilling fear in their servants whom she either paid or cured of mysterious ailments. Although she never abandoned her Catholic roots, she became increasingly interested in her mother’s African traditional beliefs. The Widow Paris learned her craft from a ‘Voodoo doctor’ known variously as Doctor John or John Bayou.
Marie C. Laveau I is said to have intiated into Voodoo career sometime in the 1820s. She's believed to be descended from a long line of Voodoo Priestesses, all bearing her same name. She was also a lifelong devout Catholic. It didn’t take long before Marie C. Laveau I dominated New Orleans Voodoo culture & society before claiming title of Queen. She was the 3rd Voodoo Queen of NOLA - after Queen Sanité Dédé & Queen Marie Salopé. During her decades tenure, she was the premier beacon of hope and service to customers seeking private consultations - to aid in matters such as family disputes, health, finances, etc, created/sold gris gris, perforemed exorcisms. While her daughter Marie II was known for her more theatrical displays of public events, Marie C. Laveau I was less flamboyant in her persona. She conducted her work in 3 primary locations throughout the city: her home on St. Ann Street, Congo Square, & at Lake Pontchartrain. Despite one account of a challenge to her authority in 1850, Marie C. Laveau I maintained her leadership & influence.
The Queen died peacefully in her sleep in her ole cottage home on St. Ann Street. Her funeral was conducted according to the rite of the Catholic Church & in the absence of any Voodoo rites. To her Voodoo followers, she's venerated as a Folk Saint. In² addition to her Priesthood in Voodoo and title of Queen, she is also remembered for her community activism; visiting prisoners, providing lessons to women of the community, & doing ritual work for those in need.
She is generally believed to have been buried in plot 347, the Glapion family crypt in Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans. As of March 1st, 2015, there is no longer public access to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. Entry with a tour guide is required due to continued vandalism & tomb raiding.
We pour libations & give her💐 today as we celebrate her for her love for & service to the people, through poverty, misfortune, bondage, & beyond.
Offering suggestions: flowers + libations at her grave, catholic hymns, holy water, gold rings/bracelets, money
‼️Note: offering suggestions are just that & strictly for veneration purposes only. Never attempt to conjure up any spirit or entity without proper divination/Mediumship counsel.‼️

Hey everyone! Allow me to introduce myself and my enchanting shop; The Crooked Cypress. I’m Evangeline, a Louisiana native with roots as deep as the cypress trees that sway in our bayous. My magical lineage spans generations, weaving together a rich tapestry of traditions.
At The Crooked Cypress, we blend a gumbo of mystical practices—a fusion of Voodoo, hoodoo, Appalachian wisdom, and folk magic. Picture me stirring a cauldron under the moonlight, infusing it with more herbs, dirt, and water than ever before. These ingredients, lovingly hand-harvested from our local surroundings, form the heart of my craft.
What can you find in our mystical emporium? Let me share a glimpse:
Candles: Each one flickers with intention, casting shadows that dance between realms.
Poppets and Dolls: Tiny vessels of energy, stitched together with purpose.
Gris-Gris Bags: Little sachets brimming with secrets and protection.
Oils: Bottled whispers of ancient forests and bayou spirits.
Herbal Blends: A symphony of leaves, petals, and roots, waiting to be brewed into potent elixirs.
And the kits—oh, the kits! They’re like treasure chests of arcane knowledge. Imagine handwritten rituals, spells, and incantations passed down through time. When you hold one, you cradle the wisdom of our ancestors.
Mark your calendars: On April 1, 2024, The Crooked Cypress will emerge from the mist, both on eBay and Patreon. I invite you to step into our world, where the Spanish moss hangs low, and the spirits whisper secrets. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or a curious seeker, there’s a place for you here.
Support our small business, and together, let’s explore the magic that thrives deep within the swamps. 🌿🌕✨

Top 5 Page, AZ Attractions
Page, AZ sits as the central hub of the Grand Circle, providing quick access to some of the most iconic National Parks and oft-photographed scenic attractions in the Southwestern United States.
While this certainly is not a comprehensive list of "Things to do in Page, Arizona," it represents our top-5 must see attractions:
1.Antelope Slot Canyon:
The canyon that needs no introduction. This canyon is often ranked as one of the must-see attractions in the world, receiving thousands of visitors each day (Upper Antelope and Lower Antelope are two separate tours within the same canyon formation).
Tumblr media
Tours run year-round, multiple times per day. The calendar fills quickly - especially the mid-day tours that produce concentrated beams of light in the canyon. We recommend the following companies for Upper/Lower Antelope Canyon:
Antelope Slot Canyon Tours
Antelope Canyon Tours
Ken's Tours
Dixie's Lower Antelope Tours
2. Horseshoe Bend
The most famous "entrenched meander" in the world. Standing at Horseshoe Bend puts you 1000' above the mighty Colorado River at one of the most photographed scenic overlooks in the world.
Tumblr media
Two-Million visitors visit Horseshoe Bend each year, so expect to see some crowds. The busiest time of day is typically from 9am-noon. Early morning will see fewer people and better temperatures in the summer, but the low angle of the sun in the early morning hours will typically impede some of the canyon views. After the afternoon lull (most people avoid making this hike during the afternoon summer heat), the bend sees another increase in traffic for the sunset-hour, which generally provides spectacular Arizona sunset colors.  A $10/vehicle charge is required to enter the parking lot. Prices vary for commercial/bus/motorcycle entrance.
Visit the City of Page website for more information
3. Alstrom Point
Of all the things to do in Page, Arizona, Alstrom Point is quite possibly the most breathtaking, but most difficult to access. If you are up for the adventure, this off-road drive takes you along Smoky Mountain Road at the base of the Escalante Staircase (or Grand Staircase Escalante), along an otherworldly moonscape.
Tumblr media
Once through the clay, washboard, and rocky road, your reward is the most spectacular and breathtaking view of Lake Powell from Alstrom Point:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We recommend taking a guide on this road for safety, historical information, geological information and an all-around good time.
Lake Powell Scenic Tours
offers private morning and sunset options, both of which include pick-up/drop-off services and a custom GoPro movie of your experience. For more information about the Alstrom Point tour, please visit:
http://www.lakepowellscenictours.com/alstrom-point
4. Skylight Arch
Often called the "Hidden Gem of Page, Lake Powell," Skylight Arch represents a true all-in-one experience. Sitting atop Stud Horse Mesa, reaching the arch requires off-road driving and a beautiful, non-strenuous hike through the desert.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While you can make it to Skylight Arch on your own (provided your vehicle is suitable for off-road travel), we recommend
hiring a Lake Powell Scenic Tours guide
for safe off-road transport, stories, regional information, geological information, and for the custom GoPro movie of your tour. You will get to experience a safe off-road drive, some Hoodoo rock formations, beautiful desert hike, and stunning views of Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain, and the Grand Staircase from the arch. For more information about this tour, please visit:
http://www.lakepowellscenictours.com/skylight-arch
5. The Wave
While not accessible without a permit, The Wave is one of the most sought-after and coveted sights around Page, Arizona. Only 64 people per day are given permits - through a combination advanced lottery and daily lottery.
Tumblr media
Please do not attempt to access North Coyote Buttes and The Wave without a permit. This region is highly regulated and protected. You must have a permit!Unfortunately, many people who successfully win the advanced or daily lotteries never actually make it out to the Wave! The road to the trail head is appropriately named House Rock Valley Road. This very rocky road routinely leaves travelers stranded with flat-tires, broken axles, or stuck up to their fenders in sand or mud.
Tumblr media
We highly recommend that if you are a valid permit holder, you hire a Lake Powell Scenic Tours guide for a safe, informative tour all the way to the Wave. If you do not want a guide all the way to the Wave, but do not feel comfortable driving your vehicle along House Rock Valley Road, we also provide a shuttle service from the Page, AZ area to the Wire Pass / North Coyote Buttes / Wave trail head. For more information about hiring a guide or a shuttle service, please visit the following link:
http://www.lakepowellscenictours.com/the-wave
Bonus:
It's hard enough to pare the list of things to do in Page, Arizona down to five, so we have to offer a bonus category. The bonus category consists of all the various Lake Powell "on water" activities. Kayak / Paddleboard - our favorite way to see the lake. While powerboats and personal water craft are a lot of fun on Lake Powell, we prefer the calm, peaceful, up-close experience you get on a kayak/paddleboard. We recommend the following companies:
Lake Powell Adventure Co. (LPACO)
Lake Powell Paddleboards
Guided Boat / Charter / FishingFor all of your boat rental/charter/fishing and personal watercraft needs, we recommend the following:
Skoony's Lake Powell Adventure
- nobody better than Skoony for on-water fun!
Lake Powell Guide Services
Lake Powell Experience (LPX)
SURF Lake Powell
Ambassador Guides
McNabb FIshing Guide Services
There is a reason why five-million visitors come to Page, Arizona. You might need to adjust your schedule and stay and extra day...or two!
Safe and happy travels,
Tyler Hunter

This is a belated reflection since New Year’s Day for the Gregorian calendar was yesterday but I felt the need to still share it with others. Since late 2019 I found out that New Year’s Day ,while a day often associated with celebration, making fresh starts, and starting out new intentions, was a tragic day for our enslaved African American ancestors. It was the day where the slave master was more likely to sell their slaves to other plantations. The tragedy comes in the fact that the enslaved spent New Year’s Eve dreading over the possibility of one of them being sold, the fear of being split from their love ones permanently and the fear of their new master not being a kind one. They responded to this dread via various ways such as praying throughout the night to ensure that love ones stay together or that they will be treated well by their new master.
These links offer good context to the significance of the day: https://time.com/5750833/new-years-day-slavery-history/
https://hoodoogoodjuju.com/blogs/hoodoo/newyears
https://www.teenvogue.com/story/watch-nights-new-years-eve
I find it very remarkable on how our ancestors were able to collectively transform a day of intense tragic and dread into a day of celebration. A day that originally reminded them of their lack of freedom was turned into a day where they made food and perform certain tasks with the intention of a good prosperous year. As I was thinking about the New Year on the night of Dec. 31 and yesterday and the meaning behind it along with our traditions surrounding that day, I was reminded of my own power to transform my own circumstances as a witch and a hoodoo. There are times when there is so much earthly issues going on in my external life that it results in me feeling powerless as it feels that no matter how many times I solve a problem another one pops up again but when I think about everything my enslaved and free black ancestors have went through and how far we have came collectively since 1600s……I am reminded on my own strength to overcome my own problems in life no matter the obstacles whether it is doing spells and workings or the magic/juju of doing mundane actions such taking care of my mental health or being more mindful of my spending habits. There will of course always be situations that will be beyond our individual control but by assessing what we are able to control we are already taking the first step in transforming our situation.
When I have black eyed peas, greens, and fish for my ancestors on New Year’s day and think about the juju that they each represent, I am reminded of how they collectively and individually transformed their situations with their traditions and rituals which in return reminds me of the my own transformative power as a witch and a hoodoo.

Okay here are some general pirate101 headcanons that I personally subscribe to. These are more for world building so not a lot of companion stuff this time :(
I’m probably going to add on to this as I refresh my memory and complete more of the story :)
-Pirate takes place during the same time as Wizard101s. For this to make sense I’m gonna go ahead and say that the Aztecasaurs in Skull Island are in fact from an apocalyptic Azteca however to escape they had to jump to another timeline (maybe with the use of the spell celestial calendar?) and doing this also caused them to have the unknown effect of being cursed.
I’m also gonna say the pirate gets to mooshu before the wizard does. Probably while the wizard is figuring stuff out in marleybone the pirate has time to complete mooshu without the emperor waking up and fixing everything (assuming malistare put the emperor to sleep soon after he bailed out meowiarty). This is also why In wiz marleybones war isn’t mention (bc it hasn’t happened yet)
-Witchdoctor, hoodoo and voodoo are misused terms. I think in the beginning of the game boochbeard mentions witch doctors practicing hoodoo. To avoid cultural appropriation and other icks like closed practices I’m gonna say that witchdoctors actually practice whatever they personally subscribe to. For example I think madame Vadima is a Bruja and practices Brujeria. I think that Old Scratch is/will become a voodoo king and he practices voodoo. I think boochbeard prolly said that bc a lot of people from skull island do practice hoodoo. Also I don’t think witchdoctors are actually witchdoctors, it’s just a umbrella term for people who practice magic other than wizard magic.
-There are different types of vampires. Kinda like if you have ever played/heard of vampire masquerade bloodlines. Some vampires (like the ones seen in game) are gonna be more beast like. They will also have different abilities (beast-like ones might be able to fly or transform but human-like ones can blend in better and can be clocked as human instead of vampire). Kinda random, but this will make sense for an oc I’m planning on introducing that will appear very human :)
-Interracial relationships (like sally and toro) are uncommon but accepted pretty much everywhere. The only time it wouldn’t be accepted is if they were apart of two beefing factions. For example if a member of the amber horde and a person from an opposing village in mooshu (😳) Same with same sex relationships :) (except if there’s a political motivation to have heirs/have a set partner).
-The meat and dairy from mooshu isn’t real, it’s alternatives like soy/tofu. No, they don’t milk and eat the people lol. Most people from mooshu are vegetarian (with the exception of seafood). Other places like coolranch do eat meat and dairy tho bc they have non anthro farmable animals (Buffaloons).

September 9th marks the 284th anniversary of The Stono Rebellion of 1739✊🏾
Tumblr media
When an Angolan brotha called, Jemmy, led a band of 20 slaves into rebellion on the banks of the Stono River in Charleston, S.C., which put unprecedented fear in Whites. It was because of this uprising that laws were enacted that outlawd the enslaved from learning how to read, gathering in groups, & growing their own food. Thus, making it one of the most significant rebellions in the history of the U.S. colonies.
Jemmy & the rebel band marched southbound on a road toward the river, carrying banners that proclaimed their war very, "Liberty!". Their numbers swelled with more enslaved women and men as they went. By nightfall, 100 rebels had joined the cause. They broke into a local firearms store, arming themselves with guns & ammo. As they marched, they killed every overseer in their path and forced any reluctant slaves to join them.
From there the band marched toward the house of a Mr. Godfrey, where they burned the house & killed Godfrey and his family. It was just shy of dawn when they reached Wallace's Tavern. Because the innkeeper at the tavern was kind to his slaves, his life was spared. The White inhabitants of the next several houses in their path were all slaughtered. Those enslaved by a Thomas Rose reluctantly joined the rebellion, but not before hiding their slaver - of which they were later rewarded for. Still, many more rebels gladly joined the cause. By this point, a Lieutenant Governor Bull eluded the rebels & rode on horseback to spread the alarm. Once the band reached the Edisto River, Whites colonists set out in armed pursuit. Shots were exchanged across both lines. By dusk, about 30 rebels had fallen & at least 30 more had escaped. In the end, most rebels were captured over the next month, then executed. The remainder were pursued and captured over the following 6mo - all except 1 who remained a fugitive for 3 years. The few survivors were sold off to plantations in the West Indies.
Tumblr media
The immediate factors that sparked the uprising remain uncertain. Many rebels knew of small groups of runaways had made their way from SC to FL, where they had been given freedom and land. There was also an ongoing malaria epidemic surging across SC. Ultimately, this unprecedented act of rebellion demanded unprecedented legislature. The European colonists finalized a Negro Act into law which aggressively limited the privileges & movement of the enslaved. No longer would slaves be allowed to grow their own food, assemble in groups, earn their own money, or learn to read. Some of these restrictions had been in effect before the Negro Act of 1740, but had not been strictly enforced. This also resulted in the forced indoctrination of slaves into Christian schools systems.
Let us remember Brother Jemmy and those who fought, willingly or not, against the colonizers. Their sacrifice may have set a great legal precedent in European colonizer politics, but it set an even greater one that would spark many fires and fan many more flames of rebellion, war, and freedom. Every step taken from this moment onward was a necessary one to achieve our "freedom" as we experience it today.
We pour libations of water (especiallyfrom the Stono River), speak their names, & offer prayers toward their elevation.
‼️Note: offering suggestions are just that & strictly for veneration purposes only. Never attempt to conjure up any spirit or entity without proper divination/Mediumship counsel.‼️

20 Tips for Beginner Witches
1. Research!
Baby witches always ask 'where do I start?' and usually everyone says research. This is because you want to make sure you have a general idea of a certain topic before you actually start practicing just to be safe and to make sure you know what you're doing.
2. Don't Worry About Labels
Some people classify themselves as a certain type of witch(i.e. hedge witch, green witch, etc.) but if you're just starting your path you dont have to stress yourself with this(if you want to choose a path or if you already have a path you can do that).
3. Make a Grimoire
Now if you dont know a grimoire is a book where you store all of the information you learn during your path(also called a book of shadows or bos) and since you never stop learning when you're a witch and I'm pretty sure you cant remember every single peice of information you learn you should definitely use a grimoire
4. Be Safe
Be careful what you practice and what you use. There are closed practices(i.e. voodoo and hoodoo) that you cant use unless you are given permission and initiated and if you do it without doing this there can be serious consequences. Also tools there are herbs, tools, etc. that can be harmful if not handled correctly or ingested and also can be harmful to pets so research before you use
5. Keep Practicing
Now everyone has heard of the phrase 'practice makes perfect' and witchcraft is no exception. Practicing things can obviously help you become better at things like spells but also it can make sure you are safe so you dont do anything dangerous.
6. Intuition is Everything
When practicing it can be very easy to subject to the exact meaning of something I've been guilty of this but remember you have to rely on your own knowledge and sometimes what you think is right but you can still somewhat rely on the meanings of thing is just remember intuition is key
7. Don't Blow Your Money on Tools
When practicing you might want to get every herb and every crystal and all of the decorations for altar and blah blah blah but you don't all of these things to practice you really just need you and your intuition and maybe a few tools but you definitely dont need everything at once
8. Use Your Resources(Information)
There are many resources besides books that are free for example pintrest, tumblr, amino, even instagram has information on witchcraft. And if you still want a lot of books but dont have the money go to b-ok.cc they have millions of books for free download
9. You Don't Need To Be Religious
Many people think that you have to Wiccan to practice witchcraft or if you're Christian then you cant be a witch but let me be the one to tell you that is not true you dont have to be wiccan you can be christian you can be any religion and practice witchcraft or no religion at all
10. Not Every Path Is The Same
Remember that just because one person does this in their craft that doesnt mean you have to and no one can tell how to do your craft. It is yours it is special to you no one can take that away
11. Use Your Resources(Tools)
Now earlier I said dont blow your money on the fancy stuff I was serious use what you have in your kitchen and use substitutes(for example a white candle can replace any color). You can be simple in your craft
12. Dont Do Everything At Once
When you're first started you get interested in everything and you want to learn about all of these different topics and you want to make spells and work with deities but you have to calm down and do one thing at a time. I suggest when researching make a list about everything you want to learn and go subject by subject learning everything you can just so you dont start getting stressed and start learning everything at once
13. Ask For Help
When you are questioning something dont be afraid to ask someone you can make a wiki on this community you you can ask your witch friends if you have some do what you need to do just dont go into something without knowing what you're doing
14. Witches Change
As you change your craft will too dont be afraid about changing your mind about something or changing your label many witches do it you are not the only one
15. You Will Never Stop Learning
Remember that just because you've been doing witchcraft for a long time doesn't mean you'll stop learning I've heard of witches that have been practicing for many years and still learn new things you will always keep learning
16. Meditate
Meditating is probably the first thing baby witches learn and it is one of the best tools you'll have because you will never stop doing this during your path so try to practice as much as you can and if you don't know how there are videos on YouTube and blogs you can find on Google(or safari for apple users)
17. Remember to Cross Reference
Just because one book or one website says something doesnt mean it is true remember to cross reference with other things. For example there is a book (unfortunately I forgot what the book is) that says only females can be witches which is absolutely not true so remember to cross reference
18. Find A Community
I dont mean a coven I mean having some people who you can talk to or ask questions to(like Amino) it is helpful so you can always have some people you can depend on
19. Take Your Time
This kind of relates to dont do everything at once but take your time with things have patience dont immediately start casting spells or working deity or anything like that take your time research so eventually you can work up to do those things
20. Plan Ahead
Know what rituals or things that you're going to do and when so if needed you can plan ahead for example if you know a full moon is coming up prepare for what you want to do maybe you want to make some moon water. One way to do this is getting or making a witchy planner/calendar

CRY Rewrite Chapter 5: Dr. Bolet’s Secret Study
Been having a lot of fun writing this. Lots of interesting research.
chapter 4
After dinner, Nancy got a call from Bess. She had gone to Zeke’s and met a man named Lamont Warrick. The paper Nancy had given her had the receipt number on it, and when Bess asked Lamont who belonged to 21-3872, Lamont had told her it was belonged to a Henry Bolet who came in with a large box of assorted goods.
“And when I tried to ask what was in the box, Lamont got really vague and said I was not allowed to know and that he didn’t want to make trouble for anyone. But that didn’t stop me! I snuck into the backroom and went through the box and you will not believe what I found”.
“Tell me,” Nancy urged.
“Well, there was a picture of a young Bruno with his dog. Then there was this weird box and when I opened it, there was a letter inside. It was addressed to Bruno Bolet from a T.W. Cladwell authorizing the sell of, get this, a skull called the Whisperer”.
The Whisperer? That was the same name in professor Hotchkiss’s book! “What else did the letter say?” Nancy asked.
“Well, Bruno was asked to respect its power and that in doing, the skull often undoes”.
“In doing, it undoes?”
“Ya, I know, makes no sense, but that’s not all Nancy. The box the letter was in had a skull-like indent! And and, Nancy, along with the other items Henry sold, there was also a costume”.
“A costume,” Nancy breathed the words heavily.
“A skull man costume,” Bess emphasized. “I took pictures of everything and sent it to you”.
The gears started to turn in Nancy’s head. Things were starting to fall into place. She was sure Henry had sold that box for quick cash, but was he also the skeleton man? Then again, Renee said she was missing some things. And this Whisperer skull, was it what Bruno Bolet was trying to hide? She almost got lost in her thoughts when she heard Bess’s frantic voice.
“Still here Bess, what else you got?”
“Nancy, I also found out that Lamont sells Hoodoo products”.
“Hoodoo?”
“Yep. Dabbled around in them. Those things really work. He also said that Renee Amande comes in regularly for Hoodoo products”.
“Was there a knock-out, sleeping powder,” Nancy asked, her voice brimming with excitement.
“No, I even asked. Lamont said he doesn’t sell high-end Hoodoo products. It can create trouble with the law apparently”.
“Not even any, on the sly, business?”
“Doesn’t seem like it, though I wouldn’t know how to check”.
Nancy thanked Bess for her discoveries. “One more thing,” she asked. “How did you get into the back room?”
“Oh you know,” Bess said in a chuffed voice. “Just set up a Rube Goldberg to throw sneezing powder at Lamont”.
“Bess, you clever conniving sneak,” Nancy exclaimed.
Bess laughed, “Learned from the best. By the way, I asked the chef at Granny’s and he said the Dr. Buford does come by nearly every day. It’s raining now, but if he comes, I’ll head on down and talk to him”.
“Thank you Bess, you’re a treasure”.
“I know”.
Before Nancy could get to the spider locked door, her phone rang again. Picking it up she heard professor Hotchkiss’s voice.
“Is this Nancy Drew?”
“Yes, and you are professor Hotchkiss”.
“Yes, I am she. Your name does sound familiar dear, do I know you from somewhere? Were you perhaps the young woman who gave me a cheese platter at the cheese factory?”
Nancy grinned. “No. No. We stayed together in a hotel in Wisconsin, remember? Wickford Castle?”
“Nonsense!” Hotchkiss exclaimed, “There was no cheese factory in Wickford Castle. Though I do remember there being a spunky maid there”.
“Yes, professor, that maid was me. I found an old journal of Marie Antoinette and you translated it and wrote a bestseller on it?
“No, no can’t remember Mandy. Now I’ve only got cheese on my mind. Oh dear. Well, you called about some best seller I wrote? Is it the one about Marie Antoinette? I am a scholar of French history, so I can help you there. Most of my work was done in thanks to that spunky maid who assisted me in the witching hours, you know”.
“Really?” Nancy asked sarcastically.
“Yes, now chop chop dear. I’m on a deadline. What is it you need to know?”
“Did a man named Bruno Bolet ever call you?”
“Indeed he did, Oui Oui. What a name. So French,” Hotchkiss sighed.
“Why did he call you?”
“Because he read my book, The Crystal Skull: Fact or Fable. Sold like hotcakes, you know”.
“Did he mention anything about owning a skull?”
“Ooh, I would have hung up on him if he did, Brandy! If I had a dollar for every crackpot whose read my book and called claiming to have an authentic skull, I’d be able to live like Marie Antoinette, or at least dine daily in New York’s Russian Tea Room. No… Bruno Bolet was a scholar, if a budding one. He wanted to know about the Whisperer and if I learned anything more since I wrote the book—which I hadn’t. Or if I had a new theory on it— which I didn’t”.
Disappointment filled Nancy. “That’s it? That’s all you talked about?”
“Oh such curiosity you have. So familiar, like that maid at Wickford. Shame I can’t remember her name. Oh wait a minute,” Hotchkiss suddenly exclaimed, “The Eyes have it!”
“I’m sorry?”
“I asked Bruno Bolet what his theory was and he just chuckled and said the eyes have it, and then hung up”.
Is it the same eye as the eye of the beholder?
“Professor, is this skull worth a lot?”
“In this day and age? No telling. Half a million? Two million? Who knows? Ch-ching! Ch-ching!”
“But how would they be able to authenticate the skull?”
“Good question Francie! Remember, the real skulls were made long before the tools commonly used for carving today were invented. So, let’s put on our thinking caps….”
“Modern day tools would have left marks if the skull was a fake?”
“Absolutely! Though mind you, the marks left by modern instruments can only be detected in a research lab. Our tired eyes cannot catch such impressions”
“You can’t use carbon-dating?”
“No Mandy. What is crystal? Quartz. What is Quartz? Silicon dioxide. No carbon. No carbon means no carbon dating”.
So you can only prove it’s real by proving it’s not a fake. Nancy fished out the envelope she found in the bin. Looks like Bruno Bolet might have done just that.
“And what about the rumors? The theory that the Whisperer can make its owner immortal? Do you really believe in that?”
“My dear Nessie, I believe that things that defy any so-called ‘rational’ explanations happen all the time. Now does that mean there are mysterious external forces at work in the universe of which we do not and cannot ever have full knowledge? Or does it all boil down to us? If the human heart desperately wants something to be true, does the human mind have the power to make it true?  Who knows?” Professor Hotchkiss sighed, “Ah, questions, questions, questions, Oh, how dreary life would be without them!”
Nancy agreed with professor Hotchkiss. Life truly was dull when all the questions got answered by someone else. Though she did find it hard to believe that eternal forces really did exist. Even this Whisperer was hard to digest. How could such a death-defying object exist? She asked Hotchkiss, “In your book you said that all the people who’ve ever owned the Whisperer were murdered, yet Bruno Bolet died of a heart attack. How do you explain that?”
“Are you saying the Whisperer was in his possession after all? The scalawag!” Hotchkiss exclaimed. “Why didn’t he tell me? Oh that’s right—I would’ve hung up on him”. Hotchkiss thought over it for a moment, then slowly said, “Well if that’s the case, then I strongly suggest you take a close look at his so-called ‘heart attack’ Sandy. Because if he owned the skull and he died, I guarantee you – it was at the hands of someone else. I’m willing to bet my name on that!”
Nancy thanked Hotchkiss then sorted through everything she had learned. So much was now being called into question, but first thing first, if that skull really did exist, was it behind the locked door? There was only one way to find out.
Slipping downstairs, Nancy did not find Henry or Renee. She opened the secret door and slipped up the stairs to the locked door. Taking the bronze key, she took a deep breath, unlocked the door, and opened it to find a dusty mess of a study room.
There were all sorts of odds and ends inside this second study room. In one corner there was a skee-ball style game. On one wall there stood a cupboard all by itself. In front of Nancy there was a desk with books and papers. Connected to the desk was a ramp leading to an open duct. In front of the ramp there was a chair with a marionette pirate puppet. Bruno Bolet, where have you taken me?
Nancy did not know where to start searching. There was so much stuff. She headed towards the desk and found a calendar agenda and a piece of paper. She flipped through the calendar. Each month had a date marked with a skull and crossbones and the notes had odd names. She kept flipping till she came to the month of May. The thirty-first was marked with a skull and crossbones and the notes read, ‘Scuttled bones, Rampart and Dumaine”. A meeting spot? That’s in four days!
Nancy picked up the paper. It was an honorary celebration of initiation into the Jolly Rodger krewe of New Orleans. The paper reminded him of his oath to silence about the group and gave him an associate and sponsor— Mr. Gilbert Buford. Nancy put the paper down. Was, was she right? Was Dr. Bolet part of some cult? Whatever he was a part of, it looked like Dr. Buford was also involved. She then spotted a faded and worn journal and picked it up. Short Stories for Tired Eyes by Bruno Bolet. It was dedicated to those who heard the Whisperer. Nancy flipped to the first page and started to read.
My dear Henry. I write this out of guilt and urgency. If you are reading this, it means our family, the Bolet family now solely sits on your shoulders. It’s a big pressure and I am well aware I have done nothing to prepare you for this. This book is an attempt and a plea to listen to my words. Henry, it’s time you know about the Bolet name and responsibility.
The Bolet family is not just eccentric in nature, but in purpose too. Many of our members have had a connection to the Earth that extends the mortal plane. They can hear the voices of those long gone. No, I am not pulling your leg. No one really knows why our family has this ability, though many joke it’s because some ancient relative couldn’t keep their curiosity at bay and now our family is cursed with this ability. I suppose it’s not all that bad. It’s helped us financially, and it is nice to have some say in how our city is planned. However, this ability appears in family members randomly. Every generation has it, but as too whom, well, it’s hard to say. When it appears is also hard to say. It just does, apparently.
I do not have this trait, and I have no idea if you have this trait either. But seeing as you are the next generation, I’m guessing you do. I assume it must be scary, at least, remembering how your father soiled his pants the first time it happened. That’s right Henry, your father had this ability. My mother had it, and according to Bolet tradition, the one who has this trait must inherit the manor because they carry the responsibility of hearing the spirit’s voices. It’s an exhausting burden. I’d often see your grandmother and father exhausted and on the point of collapse.
I don’t know how to guide you should you have these whisperers haunt you. It’s never, I never thought it would be something I’d have to teach you. That was your father’s ….
The rest had been scribbled out. A few pages later, Dr. Bolet continued.
Make of it what you will Henry, but know that I am telling you the truth here. If you have this ability, the whisperers will not go away. They do listen to you, but you need to listen to them too, otherwise….
Bruno Bolet did not complete the sentence. Nancy noticed that some pages had been torn out before Bruno continued.
Henry, the skull will help you! Find it, it will transfer the knowledge you need! Look for the eyes, they are the key. Find all 25. Put them in the cupboard. They will take you to the skull.
Following Bruno Bolet’s last words were pages detailing what looked to be locks that, Nancy assumed, held these eyes. After reading the entire journal again Nancy had to sit down. She was right, Bruno Bolet was hiding the Whisperer skull. She didn’t know why, but she was sure now that the skull man was looking for the skull too. Why else would he have initiated the steps she now completed? But that would mean Henry isn’t the skeleton man. And this crystal skull, why would Bruno want to give it to Henry? What knowledge transfer was he talking about? First it was an immortal skull. Now it was a knowledge containing skull. What was going on? More importantly, Bruno had just confirmed to Nancy that paranormal powers apparently existed.
Nancy looked around the desk, forlorn. She noticed a picture of a man being greeted by three skeleton people. The picture had an inscription, Dr. Bolet’s inauguration into the Jolly Roger krewe. Nancy peered harder and dropped the journal onto the table. Everyone was wearing a costume similar to the skull man she saw at the entrance! Holding the picture in one hand, Nancy looked around the desk and noticed an old paper. She picked it up and read.
On this day November 8th, 1952
The Jolly Roger Krewe of New Orleans hear by invites Dr. Bruno Sinclair Bolet to join its hallowed ranks.
Speak of this to no one except the man who has championed you and will, should you accept this invitation, serve as your sponsor during the initiation process, Dr. Gilbert Buford.
Dr. Buford? Was Dr. Buford the skull man? But why? Everything felt like a farce. No wonder this secret was kept within the Bolet family because good god, who would believe this rubbish? Nancy supposed there was one good thing about all this, it wasn’t her problem to deal with.
She stood up and began to search for a way out. The door she entered from, curiously, only opened one way. She had to look for another exit. In the right-hand corner she noticed, amidst, the clutter, a candle holder that was attached to the wall. The candles were not lit and even looked fake. Nancy went over and felt the candle stick. It was metal. She grabbed it and pulled. The candle bent forward with ease and the wall behind the candle holder opened up. Another secret door. Nancy stepped through the door and saw Henry staring back at her open-mouthed.

New Years Protection - A How To Guide
Tumblr media
Every year I protect myself from negative people, bad intentions, flaky energy and all manner of bad spirits and you should too.
What is New Years?
New Year is the time or day at which a new calendar year begins. Many cultures celebrate the event in some manner, and the 1st day of January is often marked as a national holiday holy day.
New Years is holy because it’s number is 1. The numerology number 1 is self-determined and self-sufficient. It goes about its own business, pursues its own goals, and has no need for companionship.
Often, we create New Years resolutions and goals that reflect the energy of the number 1. However, near March of that same year, we have likely quit or goals or had something happen to throw us back into old behavior, circles, thoughts and energies. What happened to our vigor and will power?
Many of us have bad luck, bad juju, roots and other negative things on us that keep us from our goals in life. We often have terrible relationships, situationships and sinking ships that we choose to stay in for far too long. Each year, I do spells to keep haters, spells, hexes and much more away and now I wil share a few “secrets” with you.
Spiritual Baths
Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Most empaths come home with residual feelings and energy each day. When they ask me for tips, I always suggest a spiritual bath. I use Bobby Hemmitt’s bath and it’s my go-to method but it’s not for every one.
What you’ll need
Huge tub of water, 3 caps ammonia, 3 caps of bleach, 3 caps of apple cider vinegar, 3 caps of lemon juice and half a cup of sea salt, 1 white candle.
What you’ll do
Light the white chime candle. Get in that tub and imagine your aura extending out into a white light all around you. Stay in for a minimum of 15mins and then before you leave the tub, dunk your head below the water. After that, shower off and take some of the left over wax and ball it up in some cloth and wear it on your body.
This bath helps with prosperity, protection, and removal of anything negative.
Great video on it below:

Baths have always been sacred. In hoodoo and may other spiritual systems, baths can be used as a very extremely powerful tool to help you manifest on your journey in the New Year.
The Witches Bottle
If you ain’t got haters, you ain’t poppin’! Every time you get somewhere in life, BOOM, a hater. Some of those haters are witches and they don’t mind playing target practice with your life. Personally, I lay a few tricks of my own when I create a witches bottle each New Year.
Tumblr media
What is a Witches Bottle?
Witch bottles began as countermagical devices used as protection against other witchcraft and evocation. They are described in historical sources in England and the United States. The first mention of a witch bottle appears in the 17th century England.
This is old-school magic that works! You make a bottle for you, your spouse or kids to keep them safe from magical harm. The idea is that a evil spirit or energy will seek you out but mistake the witches bottle for you becoming trapped or destroyed in the process.
What you’ll need
A glass bottle and closure, toe/fingernail clippings, hair, urine, seamen/menstrul fluid for extra points, a black candle, red twine (optional), nails, rose thorns, any protective herbs or salts.
What you’ll do
You’ll fill the witches bottle with bodily fluids, salts, hair, bones and then seal it closed. On top of the bottle, you’ll burn a black candle. Let the candle wax drip down the sides. As the candle burns, imagine all evil being trapped into what looks like a projection of you but it’s really the bottle. When the candle is done, take the bottle and place it in a quiet place or bury it in your front yard. If you stay in an apartment, bury it at your mother’s house or a place you frequent.
Witches bottles are a huge deal and they even get major press when people find them: https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/01/24/witch-bottle-discovered-virginia/
A New Years Reading with Tarot
The last thing I do for the New Year is read my energy with the Tarot cards. Tarot allows us to see current energy and make choices that can influence future events.
What you’ll need
A decent tarot deck, my suggestion would be https://amzn.to/2KMGDMc for a solid deck that shows Black ppl instead of the traditional tarot characters.
Tumblr media
Purchase yours at https://amzn.to/2KMGDMc
What you’ll do
A simple 4 card spread. Shuffle the cards and think about the next year. Think of all you want to do and achieve while letting your mind wander away from the thoughts of the cards. As you shuffle, ask your ancestors that work for your success to help you “know, what is unknown”. You should get the word “STOP” in your head or cards will leap out of the shuffle when it is time to draw your cards.
Tumblr media
Using the spread layout, pull the first card (your past), then the second card (your future), next the third card (your now) and the last card (your outcome). Use google to find out the meanings or the accompanying book that comes with your tarot card deck.
I hope you take the time to make this a very good year for you and your loved ones and book a session with me if you’d like to have a Root Doctor pull your cards.
